Hi.
I own a phone with busted screen. The screen is completely dark (well a corner of it is glowing slightly - so it's booting ) and touch is not working. I figured I will use this phone as a hidden remote security cam on my propetry. I need to be able to controll it remotely via web but this is not the issue.
I would like to know is there any way to control recovery or fastboot via PC so I can actualy see what's going on on the screen?
I know about screencast but I'm not sure if it works under recovery. I have to flash GB and root the device and install some additional apps required for the security purpose.
Thanks.

Anyone knows the answer? Please...

I think u may not, because PC needs ur mobile to be in debugging mode.Since u go to recovery the of and mobile will not be in contact.
Why can't u flash it via PC only,.....

Well maybe I can. But what about configuring the phone afterwards. Any way to skip it? Or should I just try to enable debugging via ADB and go with pushiing apps like webkey or just using screencast?
Thanks.

To access recovery, you can either use a combination of buttons on your phone or, navigate to platform-tools in the android sdk in terminal then: fastboot reboot recovery
On a mac: ./fastboot reboot recovery
The most simple solution would be to order a new display from ebay and replace it.
But to answer your question: no, you cant control your phone via PC while it is in recovery mode.

hi there.
maybe I am using wrong words but I cannot find any post similar to my subject.
I am on stock ICS but it is not working well - I wanted to downgrade, but it looks like it is not possible to downgrade on stock recovery. I know I have to change the recovery to sth else like ClockWork.
I know about fastboot way - and here my problems starts.
I have all the drivers, phone is visible in Device Manager while it is booten into Android. I can go into Fastboot mode BUT
when phone is in fastboot mode it is not visible in Windows Device Manager at all.
It is not a driver problem. There is no new device I can use the driver for.
I tried different computers. Win7 64bit and 32bit and WinXP 32bit
My phone does not show up on any of them.
I think it ia a problem with the bootloader - my current version is XXKL1 - as when I am in the fastboot mode my volume keys are not working, while they work perfectly well in recovery or in the OS.
Any ideas appreciated.
Cheers
My phone wasn't showing in w7 i had turn on usb debugging in settings -> developer options. I m not sure if this helps but might be worth a try

XXK1 sounds like the baseband/radio to me. Granted I never actually looked in the bootloader for a model number. You sure that's not the radio?
What rom is on the phone now? Does it work? Are you rooted? If you got working phone with root you can flash custom recovery from inside the os. Boot directly into it via terminal or adb or any app that does it.
The volume buttons not working sounds odd and does worry me though
did you try to boot into bootloader/fastboot without being connected to any machine (holding vol up + power) to check if your volume keys work or not?
your issue might not be driver related, but you can always try if the test above was ok.

best of luck
OK guys. I am on 4.0.3 stock. Works almost fine. This phone is unlocked but not rooted. So no chance for any other recovery but the stock one as far as I know. So I am not able to downgrade easily. Yes I can boot into fast boot without being attached to USB. Volume keys still not working here. But working in recovery mode no problem. GM no drivers will help if phone does not show in windows device menadzer at all. I have tried Linux approach but it looks phone is not being discovered there in fast boot mode as well. I have tried unbrick software - does not discover the phone.
And yes it says on fast boot screen boot loader : I9020XXK1
I have run out of ideas.
Downgrade would be best but how to put any recovery manager without root privileges
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
you can use ROM manager to jump back to 2.3.x

I am not rooted so I cannot use from manager and I do have stock recovery not clockwork so I cannot install superuser.zip

for SuperOneClick phone needs to be visible in usb debugging mode.
Sorry mate but it only starts in USB Debug/Android mode - then it reboots the phone to fastboot shell and then same issue - phone is not discovered by windows hence nothing else happens.
Is there no other way of gaining root access instead of fastboot option - this would solve all my pains
Thx everyone for input
..
i suggest just follow zedomax tutorial on how to root your ics phone. He also have the download links for all the files that you will need. once your phone is rooted then you can download the old stock version of your phone.
http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
Looks like a driver issue, when phone isn't discovered by windows in fast boot mode. (You are booting with vol up+power, right?)
Forget about any one-click-stuff etc - unlocking and cwm is the way to go. Everything else just makes troubles.
What I don't get is how you unlocked your phone without fastboot working?! That's not possible... for the moment forget about rooting - superuser isn't needed to flash stuff via fastboot/cwm.
Concentrate on getting fastboot to work. After that it's a piece of cake. Check you have drivers and fastboot set up properly on your PC.
Edit:
By this I mean following the sticky-guides, using the sdk from Google (not any downloads pretending to make it quick'n'easy. Go the official way!)
You should also give the 4.0.4-stockrom (ported from ns4g-leak) a try - it's way better than 4.0.3!
Edit: talking about this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474878
OK guys - I have no idea how should I say it in different way - this is not a matter of a driver - the phone is physically not visible to the computer. There is no unknown device of anykind so I have nothing to use a driver for. It is not that fastboot command does not recognize the phone - the phone does not exists in Windows Device Manager. Looks like when phone is in fastboot mode the usb port is dead. So no chance of rooting in standard way.
And I have unlocked it as it was working before. I did realize it is not working when I tried to downgrade recently.
Election Day: I have tried 3 different cables, couple of computers and 3 different operating systems - ubuntu included. How this trick with hairdrier works? If it is a flash why does it work for everything else but not fastboot mode? Should I heat it up without cover and battery? Any specific area? Should I plug in while hot?
Thx guys.
usb working with sys booted up, but broken on bootloader?! makes no sense at all, i hope you can see that for yourself. can't be a hw-failure (then it would be broken everywhere).
have you reinstalled the driver from the sdk? the problem is on your pc, not the phone...
and forget about rooting for the moment, you don't need that to flash a rom. or are you mixing things up?!
that nonsense about heating up the phone with a hair drier was a joke, right?

You can get into recovery via ADB, Download the USB drivers for your device and then get the Android SDK tools, you can read up how to do that, then get into your platform tools folder, get a cmd prompt going, turn it on, and type "adb reboot recovery" as fast as you can before it freezes.

Don't know if you're still having the same problem but if so, you're in luck. I have the same tablet, what I did to restore mine was to download livesuit to flash a recovery image onto your device. Of course everything will be deleted but once you're back into your tablet you can put all your apps back on &/or your custom rom. I was able to get CM10 onto mine running very smoothly so I recommend iit.
Anyway, use the recovery image for the ly-f1 tablet. It's exactly like the stealth pro trio tablet so you can use the same things. Just google "ly-f1 recovery image" download a good one and open it up in livesuit. After that you're gonna wanna put your tablet into download mode.To do that you wanna make sure the tablet is off. Plug your usb in. Press and hold the volume down button on your tablet while pressing the power button about 10 times or at least until you hear your computer respond. Livesuit will guide you there rest of the way. It's really simple.
GOOD LUCK.

Hi, I'm kinda of a noob at this stuff, but I've learned quite a bit recently from just reading around, so bear with me if I don't understand or need more specific instructions. I have the trio stealth pro 7 and it is always stuck on the boot screen with the android logo when I boot. I was attempting to flash cm9 on the tablet but after I wiped the tablet initially, i couldnt find the cm9 rom on my internal memory while in recovery mode, so I ended up turning off my tablet, which now doesn't boot up anymore (stuck with android logo). I found a fix where you can use livesuite and adb to fix this issue; however, after installing adb, my tablet is not being detected, (my phone does). My tablet is not being recognized by windows in general, and it doesn't show up under device manager. There was one part of the step where I need to install usb drivers for the tablet; however, I cant find any online. I have used the tablet before with my computer before the attempt to flash cm9, so I am guessing drivers should already be installed. I feel I can get this issue fixed if I can just get adb to recognize my tablet. Perhaps this fix is not the one I need and maybe there's a simpler fix. I'm just too dumb to have realized it. Another note to add is, pressing the combination of power and volume buttons does nothing. Please help!!! thank you!!
stock images download
Hi guys ... Trio tablet Is similar or the same as Ly-F1 tablets :cyclops: these stock images will work and can be downloaded from link bekow.. make sure you download live suite first, applicable drivers (adb/fastboot) and you should be good . Follow directions accordingly and as reminder ,, :highfive: ,,, flashing / adb / sdk should only be used by advanced users who are comfortable using the SDK ADB flash tools.. . I am in no way responsible for bricked devices... Happy Flashing. :cyclops:

hello there,
I'm using Galaxy S1 I9000, and my screen just got broken, and shows nothing now (black screen).
I have found this PC software that allows me to see my android device screen Via my computer.
Unfortunately my "USB debugging mode" wasn't turned on, so I am not able to use this software.
I'm able to get inside CWM mode, but I do not know how to enable this option .
so my question is, is there any way to enable usb debugging mode through CWM on the device and ADB on my computer??
I have tried to use the ADB software but when I enter: "adb devices" it shows no devices.
any solution to my problem without buying a new screen?
I used SLIMROM with JB, has CWM 6.
Thank you.
I thought very much.
Unfortunately there are no ways to do it...
Black broken screen has touch sensibilities???

yes has touch sensibilities...
that doesn't really help me...
cause going into the menu, choosing all the options are hard to do.
is there any way to upload something, maybe preferences or new used rom, with enabled 'usb debugging' mode?
maybe Via ODIN??...
can't I connect to the phone through the computer somehow and do that?!?
Since touch works, giving you the screen coords to enable it shouldn't be too hard, what is your android version?

I thought maybe wiping all data will help, but after doing that I'm stock at the start screens where I need to choose wireless network, enter my name and choose google account...
I guess now I can not do anything
enter recovery mode via hardware keys. now, u can go to "mounts and storage" . there, choose the option to mount ur usb.
Now u have access to the contents of ur phone.
Good luck.
Hello guys, my phone dropped today and half of the screen is not working anymore. Also the touch does not seem to work. The problem is I just want to copy my photos to my computer but i cant because of the phone is locked and it needs a pattern password to unlock. Is there anyway without replacing the screen to copy my photos or unlock the phone. Thank you.
Hi,
You can plug an OTG cable and plug in a mouse to work around the touch screen issue. Other possibility is trying to boot in recovery mode to manage the files via USB, though I'm not sure if it would allow you to access internal data using adb or not.
All the best,

Hey i do have the USB OTG and i plugged in a mouse to try to enable the adb debugging but the problem is that i can't see the screen so i am working blindly and trying to 'guess' where i should click.
The thing is i can unlock my phone with the fingerprint, but when i connect it to the computer the files do not show, i believe there is a button i have to click to enable MTP ?
I really can't believe its that hard to copy some files from my phone just because the screen is black
Hi,
Yes there is a button to enable MTP and it is in fact hard to enable it without looking at the screen. Have you tried booting in Recovery to access your files?

Android has a built-in feature since version 5 called Smart Lock. It’s a proximity-based condition for your lock screen that keeps your phone unlocked when it is in one of three places:
On your person (like in your pocket or in your hand)
At a location that you have specified
Near another Android device that you have specified
If Smart Lock wasn't enabled on phone then the suggested USB-OTG method of course doesn't work.
