[Q] Install Franco Kernel on Skyrocket? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Is it possible to flash the Franco Kernel to my Skyrocket? I have read his thread and it does not specify which devices are allowed to use it.
Some of the posts have said that kernels are specific to devices so you cannot install it while others say it doesn't matter.
I am rooted, running CM10 Stable.
Any help is appreciated!

No

No unless it's specifically for the i727. Which I don't think it is

[Q] Confused by all the ICS ROM Variants

I'm itching to flash my NS4G with ICS and I'm unlocked, rooted, and ready to go.
I want to start out with something as close to a stock installation as possible, and I have read numerous other posts about "stock ICS." But what/where is "stock" ICS?
All the ROM's in the NS 4G Forum seem to have their own level of tweaks and enhancements (and accompanying bugs.)
All I want is something close to pure ICS with, prehaps, a kernel that can be overclocked.
Appreciate the insight of those who know. Thanks!
Stock is probably equivalent to AOSP source, unaltered.
Thanks...but where do I find it? There are at least 4 different ROM's that have the ASOP moniker.
I would suggest Peter Alfonso's build

Before you go any further consider the Slim ICS ROM in the dev section.

I couldn't find Pete's ROM on XDA but found it on his site... would it be pete_crespo4g_ota_01-11-12.zip for the NS4G?
i suggest you: Cyanogenmod 9 NS4G
you will find all the information you need in this thread :

Yes use Pete crespo
But I believe someone ported the OTA ICS update and that's what your looking for.

Hey guys, shoild i use voodoo lagfix
And how to install only the lagfix NOT with thw kernel
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
voodoo lagfix will convert your file system to ext4 and make your phone faster. It is built into the kernel though, so there is no way to install it without installing the custom kernel that includes it.
Not sure what you mean by thw kernel, but most custom kernels that include voodoo lagfix also include cwm recovery.
So what's the risk of flashing a kernel

If its a kernel for this phone, there really isnt any risk.

Root first.

Install kernel.

Can i flash a kernel with cwm5 and lagfix with this app? Like this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21487855

Aslong as you are on Gingerbread, you can use Kernel flasher to flash that kernel. That would be the recommend kernel, if not the only one really.
tnx bros
Hey Jules... I noticed the four threads you have started all seem to be questions and you are starting the threads in the general section. I want to give you the heads up there is a Q&A section for you to post in... in case you are unaware.

[Q] Flashable stock kernel for 2.3.3

I was able to find one from jboxer, but it only gave me a bootloop and didnt work.
Stock gives the best results, faux kernels don't have the performance I'm looking for and Dragons OTA kernel gives random reboots.
Does anyone have a flashable zip of the stock kernel or know how to compile one?
Any help, links, or work and effort is appreciated.

Try Trinity, very smooth.

Trinity is for CM based roms only. Not for stock and OTA.

I don't think there is a Stock Kernel only. You will need to Flash the Complete Gingerbread Rom to get it. The one from jboxer was also a complete Rom.

Cleanrom 3.0 compatible kernels?

I can't seem to find a solid answer. I'm running cleanrom 3.0 and can't seem to find a list of compatible kernels. Does anyone have a list of kernels that are compatible?

You won't find a solid answer posting in the wrong section.

Just the stock kernel I believe. Sammy screwed up on posting source so we don't have any custom kernels that are compatible with new builds up

the kernel in my sig works just fine.
I already stated it was a mistake. I was browsing in the dev section and forgot to change over. I found a kernel that works. Mods can close this.

[Q] GS3 VZW 4.2.2 Kernel

Does anyone know of a kernel that can overclock a verizon GS3 running AOSP 4.2.2? I've been looking around and have been having a hard time finding one. I'm CarbonROM v1.7. Any help is much appreciated! :good:
Leankernel, kt747, and several others in the development and original development sections.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Pretty much all have overclocking capabilities.
Can you maybe link me? Because on the ktweaker thread for GS3 VZW I only see a 4.2 download and on the leankernel on rootzwiki it just says jellybean. I've hard bricked 3 GS3's from being unsure so so that's why I'm trying to be so thourough

read, read, read, read, read, read.
its not difficult. match the type of kernel for the rom youre trying to run.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853816
how much more simple can it be? Its labeled 4.2 kernel.
not trying to be rude, but cmon man.
I know I realize I sound stupid, but you're saying a 4.2 kernel will work the same for a 4.2.2 kernel? If that's true then didn't know that l.. Really sorry
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
not a problem, i could see the confusion.
wasnt trying to be a d*ck, i thought everyone operated under that assumption.
4.2.1 is not the current source that people use, so 4.2.2 is sometimes labeled 4.2.
touchwiz is abbreviated as TW.
No its cool I've just bricked 3 phones so I need to extra cautious even if I sound dumb but thanks for the direct answer!
