1st step - root your phone. 2nd step - install custom recovery. 3rd step - backup your current rom. 4th step - flash your new rom. For rooting and custom recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152306

You may want to take a look at the LG Optimus One FAQ.
Thanks but which Rom is stable?

You can try an ICS rom- hephappy's ICS 9.2.1 or Cyber ICS 3.0based off it. That's fully functional and stable.

Ok,i already rooted it.but i need to find a way to install recovery and flash kernels.im experienced android user, flashed my x8 all day and really knew everything about that phone.i just need to figure g3 out.i think its not that hard
Sent from my GT-I5800 using Tapatalk
First find the flashing tools. It can be found after you download a rom as its included in the file you downloaded, or just search google for i5800 odin i think. Then, head over to the g3mod thread and download g3mod kernel v2.2.2. 2.3 has some bugs with the recovery i believe, so currently stick with 2.2.2. Then download the tar file of the oc or non-oc, then open odin as admin, select the ops file, and tick one package and select the g3mod tar file you downloaded. Then boot your phone to download mode, using vol down+home+power buttons. Then connect your phone to the com and click start. However, pls make sure you have downloaded kies and installed phone drivers and make sure you computer can detect your phone and you csn transfer stuff to and fro your com before this. Head over to the use odin for dummies thread. May have the files you need not sure xD. I'll try to find the things for you
Edit: yup its in the guide to use odin in the general section

For me i like fugumod ultra. But its your own preference for rom, i love kyorarom. Use alpha 7 . Flash kyorarom 4.0, then update thru cwm using alpha 6 zip file then update to alpha 7 using the zip file thru cwm.

HI
Congratulations! this is a beautiful fone!
All ROMS have their Advantages and disadvantages, some are most stock & stable, some are very fast, other have a lot of features, etc. Depends on what you want, There is only one way to find out. Try them all. I personally use Kyorarom.
Other than what you already know, my phone explorer software & client is very handy and indispensible.
You may check my ROM also. Based on DDJP6 with ICS touch!
Kyrillos ROM is very nice and we're expecting an huge update from kyrillos (the dev) maybe GB, it's like everything "wait and see" .
Sent from my GT-I5800 using Tapatalk
Yeah,i heard kyrillos has a very good rom.so did someone try ics ports? Are they smooth in scrolling? I think ill try kyrillos rom or kyorarom.only request i have is no touchwiz.look.i really dont like it.i more like Cyanogen,or even stock gingerbread look.

I'm using CyanogenMod 7. It's the only AOSP gingerbread ROM and is still in an Alpha stage so it has some problems.
Check all ROMs. Flash everything. Well start from Froyo ROMs. DutchMods, Vivek s etc. And then move to CM7. Well CM7 is the fastest. And in few days, Alpha 7 will be released with most of the things fixed. Now CM7.1 alpha 7 after releasing, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Well its my suggestion. Most ROMs for now are Froyo based. And many of them are pretty good. You know just to get a feel of everything. But that s just me. You can start with CM7 too.

Hi guys,
This is actually my first post in xda forums. So, i got a Nexus S with KelLMSKing MIUI Mod 2.8.1 custom ROM and 2.6.35.14-ck-1-cfs Matr1x kernel. Well, i'd like to return to ICS in order to update to Jelly Bean and then maybe install a new custom ROM. How could i get this done without loosing root access?
Any help is appreciated!

Hi, I'm new to this device as a friend gave it to me. I've read a lot about flashing, stock and custom roms but I can't see a stable custom rom. As far as I've understood ICS and up roms are still not stable enough, so I may go for a GB rom but don't know what.
BTW if I go to a stock rom is there a way to maintain CWM or would I have to flash it again after flashing stock?
Best & stable Gingerbread rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1440284
Follow the instructions carefully.
Good luck!

You read a lot and you can't see a stable custom ics/jb ROM??? My advice: Stay at GB... Stock rom is the best for you.

Probably this is a best solution for this moment I'm using this rom. Easy to install and easy to use. I'ts smooth quick and solid on my SG I9003 SCL
Thanks for your recommendations but any of that roms have worked 'cause I'm having this problem. I've installed Bam's Custom Kernel and 4ext convertor script and I'm able to get /data working, so then I flash any of that custom roms but I'm stuck again on bootloops.
this one also very good

GB ROM: The Frankenstein Mod is very good(no bugs and a lot of bloatware removed). I used it for many months and then switched to Alpha 5.
Jelly Bean: Dhiru's Alpha 5
The best of all roms for the SL cleaner faster and 4.2.2!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299301&page=82
Try the new 4.2.2 ROM from master Dirhu with Kernel 3.0
It has some few bugs at the moment but it is working very very smoothly (better than a sock one). My phone is like a new one with this ROM.
It comes with Cyanogenmod 10.1

Hi. I just read a few guides since I don't know how this phone works that well, but as far as I am concerned, you would have to first install a rom or kernel with CWM 5 or higher, not 6. So there are ROMS on gingerbreaed that have this... But just to be safe, i would install cm7.... Look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-T959V/Installing_a_ROM
Your best bet is to use a 1click like eollie's 1 click with a modded kernel that has cwm built in, first link in the 2nd post here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
Once you flash that, you will have cwm, which you can then use to flash any variation of ICS. You might need to be on ICS then go to JB, depends on the ROM but most will let you go straight from the cwm that the above link to the new ROM.
If you don't need GPS, don't mind small bugs, etc, then there are several JB's out there.
If you want GPS, good battery life, stability, etc, then try ultragen and the kernel linked in my sig.
Just flash Fluidification's CM10.1 Aries. I flashed it from 2.3.6 stock with CWM 5.0 2 8 and it automatically updated me to 6.0.2.8 at the beginning of the flashing process. Hope i helped!

Never go for custom roms if you expect stability. Custom roms contains many bugs and are not stable according to device specifications. I have tried a lot of custom roms but i got bugs and complains in most of them. Custom roms may ask for different kernels which may be incompactible to some apps. So think carefully before going for any custom roms. Be sure to backup your stock rom via CWM or any other recovery!

Who said? Try ib phoenix ROM v3. with 3.4.75 kernel. Rock solid n stable. Jet fast. I have flashed my device more than 500 times in one year and I tried almost all ROMs. This one is a wonder for canvas 2.
Not impressed by it. Waiting for official 4.4 update..
