[Q] HTC One X. 4.1.1 Build 3.18... - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Is it possible to root this phone with this build and android version.. if so. how. because every other method i tried and failed miserably ... Please help if possible..

Just take a minute to look through the threads, and you will see this question has already been asked and answered many times.

Srry , no shirt no shoes no root (as of know no exploit for root avail)
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

At least one of these threads made every single day. -_- Makes me want to set this FORUM ON FIRE!!!!!! BURN IT ALL!!!

Why don't we get females here using topless self-portraits as their avatars?
I bet we would get a JB root a lot faster.

There's a way to do it but it will cost you $100.
Step one: Brick it
Step two: Send me or my associate the phone and $100.
Step 3: Wait for devs to develop a method and save money.

Okay I see why it was so annoying when i made repeated threads. But the fact here is you can't go 3 posts without seeing a 3.18 root method question asked

LOL. See it's all your fault.

Haha, I think we figure if we ask enough times eventually a dev will get tired enough of seeing it and develop a root exploit out of sheer frustration.

He is working with a dev to get it going. Think they are getting close. WP is pain in the butt to get around without some kind of gold card or sd card trick. When you try to get a custom recovery on it it will freak out lol.

Well here is the thing with gold cards. It's a shot and may very well work but the dev I'm working with doesn't want to brick my device. He is going to do some research and get bsck to me

That is a good call. 7zip from sd may be a option too. Anything to get adb up and running is a plus. I know it will not be long till it's done.

Can you make a gold card without an SD slot? I remember having to do that with my inspire 4g, but it definitely went on the external sd card and not the internal. That functions to bypass the CID check right?

Hold on I'm confused.... With that $100 could it be payed with $20 bills or does it have to be a $100 dollar bill?
-Sugardaddy Duncan

You have to download it and move it to internal sd manually. It is possible.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

They are already working very hard on it and to be honest most of the devs who work on it don't even visit this forum cuz they find it to be an annoyance.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app

Does not matter. Jtag is Jtag. Spends the same LOL. Just kidding. Please do not brick. These devs are good at what they do. Patience is a good thing.

Yes, it's possible. Mine is rooted. Need to have unlocked bootloader, flash TWRP 2.5.0.0.(openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-evita.img), then install UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.25.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 from TWRP. That should do it..

Oh well, to have root explorer working and be able to delete the bloatware, it's totally worth it.
Yessssssssss
Cant wait to get started when I get home later today.
Bah, too early I guess. I don't want to flash an old firmware.

And this surprises you why? Not to worry, if they could make a bootstrap recovery for the Droid X, they can make one for this phone.
It just surprises me that HTC did it

It's a signed Bootloader... HTC doesn't lock their stuff down like Motorola does...Be patient guys. You'll get the goodies

Rooted one X lost wifi after reset

I did a factory reset in an attempt to improve battery life. After reboot I realized I had no WiFi. I went into settings and saw it said error, so I tried to cycle it. Now it just sticks in turning on WiFi and never does. I'm rooted and did the WiFi fix before the reset. Please help a brother out!
Nobody? I'm dying here guys, I cant figure this out. I tries changing the 4 wifi files back to stock but that didn't work either. :{

By knowing at least the basics and simple stuff. I'm not a root user but one I've seen on this forum a couple times is people having bricked their phones trying to install something made for the regular S2 on the Skyrocket. So as long as you're not an idiot you should be okay.

Exactly research is the key if you really dont know what the hell your doing then dont do it as for help if need be youtube! google other device that are similar and see how things are flashed **this doesnt mean to flash those files but simply to understand how its done if your a visual person** XDA is all about being self sufficient however there are people who were or still are NOOBS lol but at least have been in your boat to understand if you need a helping hand and are willing to help you
The 100% sure way not to brick is do not mess with things you know little to nothing about. No flash = no brick. If your gonna flash anything read read and read some more. Google knows all and is your best friend. Search and research. I'm a computer programmer and networker and still didn't feel comfortable flashing my phone until I did extensive research. About a week of reading and compiling as much info as possible....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
These suggestions are great and all but the best piece of advice that anyone can give you is:
Make sure you do it while you are still awake, if you are sleepy when you try flashing new stuff, odds are you are going to mess it up royally.
Do it while you have lots of energy in order to make the right *educated* decisions and to be able to pay attention in great detail to what you are doing.

Hi guys :)

This is off topic of anything but this may be my last annoying post. I just got my new one x and updated it. Maybe if sense 5 ports are even worth it ill unlock bootloader but for now you guys (wrecker) don't have to worry about me. I'll be in the apps and skins section for a while. Thank you.

Easiest way to reboot? Deactivate Cydia Substrate by holding down the "volume up" key while rebooting.
There's also a dedicated thread for fixing frowny pants issues
Otherwise, try connecting to irc.saurik.com and joining #iphone or #saurik. Someone should be able to help.

I determined that HTC accidentally missed a change to the AOSP init.rc (for a line of code that they didn't even need in the first place, and if it weren't there it wouldn't need to be updated... grr ;P), which caused Substrate to not inject correctly on HTC devices. I've come up with an imperfect-but-simple fix that will be in 0.9.4008 (to be released later tonight).
However, I'm very curious about the issues you had restarting zygote. Would you be willing to try this step with a more recent version of Substrate (while 0.9.4007 won't work on your HTC device, it will not be at all harmful, partly due to the fact that it simply won't do much of anything at all ;P), and tell me if you still get this issue? The same goes for the "Frowny Pants".
