[App] [2.2+] AlarMe (formerly known as Smart Alarm) - Holo alarm with a twist - Android Apps and Games

I had totally forgot to post this here...
Here's my latest app (after a 2 years pause.. I'm not a fulltime developer, nope), created off my own needs but I guess there's plenty of people out there that could make use of it
AlarMe is, indeed, an alarm, but it's also weather-based
Let me explain: if you, like me, would rather ride your bike to work instead of that boring car, at least when it's sunny, why would you wake up 15 minutes earlier than you should just because you have to account for the traffic jam you'd be stuck in if you were driving a 4 wheels vehicle or, worse, why should your alarm ring at the same time whether you had to take any mean of public tranportation instead of your own?
Another scenario: let's suppose you usually have to wake up at 7:30 to go to work, that's because your commute takes 15 minutes on a clear sky day
Your default alarm would ring, indeed, at 7:30 but today is a rainy day, and now your commute is up to, probably, twice the time.. and you're late for work
Enter AlarMe
You can now create personalized weather rules for each and every alarm
Default time could be the aforementioned 7:30 but then you'll add a rule that makes the alarm go off at 7:10 if it rains, 7:00 in case of storm, perhaps even 7:45 if it's sunny cause you'll just ride your awesome bike that zips through traffic!
Features:
- the alarm, of course
- up to 6 different weather rules: clear, foggy, cloudy, stormy, rainy, snowy
- full holo UI with a flippable cards layout for the alarm list (everything works on 2.2 devices as well)
- 24 hours / AM-PM and Fahrenheit / Celsius visualization options
- 2 different weather providers (so far)
- Notifications to view/dismiss snoozed alarms
- More stuff such as automatic / manual location and customizable alarm / snooze durations
- MP3 ringtones
Coming soon:
- Bugfixes (can never have enough of those)
- Skip the alarm if a certain weather condition is met (rather than just setting a different time.. you don't want to go jogging if it rains, right?)
Coming sometime in the future
- NFC support to dismiss the alarm by touching a tag
- Maybe traffic info / estimated commute time, someone already asked for it so I'll give it a try
Download
The app is already up on the Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdk.smartalarm
Expect frequents updates, usually once a week

Be Patience. There are millions of alarm apps out there. XDA is one of the best place to get great feedback. Patience is key to success
BTW, I've downloaded the app. I'll test it and share my feedback here tomorrow.

Up?

This app looks like a really good idea, I'm gonna try it out.

Please, do let me know about any bug you encounter and, of course, I'd love some feedback about the general look & feel of the app, that's what betas are for

Version 0.99 is up, featuring notifications for snoozed alarms and the ability to cancel them with a tap, plus more bugfixes
Please let me have some feedback about this update

I got two alarm with one normal notifications and one with the weather on it.. but ill try the new version now
Sent from my GT-I8160 using XDA Premium HD app

I just published a quick fix for a notification bug, disregard notifications appearing when you're dismissing the alarm until you upgrade to the latest version (up in a few hours)

Did anyone have any problems with alarms not working? Any missed alarms at all?
Perhaps it's ready to leave te beta stage?

I haven't had any issues. Though I don't use this to the fullest. X3 I just use it for a simple alarm clock as it is the nicest looking one I've found so far. <3

You've made a great app, but I think the target audience is smaller than you'd think.
Do you think you could make an option to delay the alarm if it is a snow day? It won't be for a long time and this will only be for people in school, but it would be a really nice feature.
Also is there any possibility of creating dismiss options like solving math problems etc.?

The delay in case of snow is actually what the app does... you can set any weather rule to either delay or anticipate the alarm, just choose a default time then set the alarm for a couple of hours later in case of snow
The math solving could be added in, yes, as well as NFC reading, once all the basic functions are working properly, thus leaving the beta stage

Installed it and uninstalled it when I noticed it will quit working after three days. I'd hate to be late to work because it expired.
I've been using xtreme alarm clock pro for two years and it would be hard to replace it. Its so stable and rock solid.

I'm always releasing an update before the trial period is over, I just added that to prevent the beta version from leaking around once the full version is released, and also to make sure people are running the latest version instead of an old bugged one (and then leaving comments about my app not working)
Xtreme alarm clock doesn't look so nice, UI-wise, and it missed the main feature of my app of course, but hey, I know not everyone is going to use mine as main alarm
Also, being in beta stage, I recommend not using my app as your main and only alarm app just yet, I'd appreciate it if you tried it alongside XAC just to see if it works fine

This day, i dont think the app ring.. maybe my father turned it off first or is this the app fault?
Turn out to be my dad turning it off already
I would like to have a swipe to dismiss alarm.. like when you want a one time alarm you could just swipe to dismiss it

[APP] Vibration Notifier

Maybe you know this situation: Your phones lays on your desk, you're in the kitchen and you get called. You do not hear your ring and when you come back to your desk, you don't notice that you were called because your device has no notification LED (and you're not using NoLED)...
Therefore I made another small app, called "Vibration Notifier" (name is not final) which does the following:
When you have a missed call or an unread SMS, the app keeps vibrating every X minutes for Y times or until you turn on the display of your device.
It supports missed calls, SMS, GMail and any other app which puts a notification in the status bar once a new event occurs (like WhatsApp, Google Voice, etc.)
I think the attached screenshot describe the intention of the app pretty good
App is now available throught the Android Market: Vibration Notifier

Like vibrating every X minutes won't drain the battery? That's no excuse, make it work!
Nice idea for an app though, keep up the good work.
thanks
i also might have found a way to get some gmail notifications. i'm not yet sure if i have broken something now because i had to change some stuff, but it seems to work so far
This is a great idea for an app. I'll install it once it's in the market!
Also to people talking about battery use, vibrating uses hardly any battery at all. It is not going to be noticeable.
I have a tasker task that does something somewhat simmilar... when my battery level drops below 15%, my phone starts vibrating once every minute. It's a subtle "charge me!!!" hint.
I think this is a great idea even for the people that have LEDs like me. However, I don't think the limitation to calls, sms and gmail is a good idea. You should find a way of making all the notifications vibrate every x minutes or adding a lot more to your app. For example Whatsapp (I installed your app today but noticed it was only for certain notifications so uninstalled it ) and let's say Twitter, Facebook... all this stuff.
Looking forward to a more complete version of this!!

sounds like a good idea to me, but i wont install it as long as there are no "silent hours" to set in the settings or an option to enable/disable this using tasker as i dont want to have my phone vibrating on my nightdesk when sleeping ;-)
so see this as a feature request...
just uploaded a new version to the first post, can the SGS2 user test this version? thanks

My Samsung Galaxy S2 vibrates fine now =) but if I set it to 2 minutes, it takes four minutes pause between the vibrations
The is one of the best app ever ! THX !
Works great on my Atrix! Thanks! I have the LED but find the app useful in case my phone is in my pocket and I dont hear/feel it the first time.
Great app, but 1 minute set is just under 3 minutes realtime. I seen you uploaded a new version, I got the previous one. It's running on a motorola Defy with 2.2.
Your notification toggles app is a winner too!

Hi
I searched but didn't find.
It's gone be perfect if have widget!
Smarter Alarm might fit what you need. it's an alarm that goes off stating the time and other information as per your preference instead of a ring (weather/news etc.) There's always a "hear alarm" button so if you just want to hear the time, that would work too.

it's an alarm speak.
Thanks btw. I wish to find something like tell the time every hour.
Its just to set up an alarm every hour you are supposed to be awake, or set it to not go off if the phone is silent, not much work.
Tasker can do what you want. Its not the easiest app to get used to, but it's so powerful and has near limitless potential.
You can download and import the talking clock profile someone has made from here...

[APP][4.2+] Daydream Launcher

Ever wanted to launch that fancy Daydream screensaver easier? In your Android 4.2+ device's settings, you are only given the options to launch Daydream while docked or while charging.
Now, there is an easier way simply to launch Daydream, right from your home screen, no matter if you are docked, charging, or neither. Just press the icon, and Daydream will start.
I have heard a few people ask for such a shortcut, so I made this; if you have any suggestions or problems to report, please let me know. Also, this is ad-free and requires no permissions.
Google Play link: http://bit.ly/XuPPmv
Also, if you want the source, I will look into putting that up somewhere, too, but it really is a simple shortcut application.
Last thing: if anybody wants to make the feature and/or promo graphics for the app on Google Play, post them here, and I will probably use them.
I hope this shortcut helps somebody out there!

Thanks for the nice comments, guys.
I know this is no excuse, but I have been really busy. However, I got going this week, and have looked into adding more features.
The popular request seems to be for the daydream to start when the screen becomes idle. Well, I have included that, kind of. Some of the features I have added were hard to do, given the way that daydream was set up by Google. There will be a Daydream Launcher Plus app for 99 cents on Google Play that includes many new features and will help to further my development. Also, the current free app will be getting a minor performance update. I hope you enjoy whichever app you choose to use! And, I love all feedback, good and bad (but constructive ).
Have fun, XDAers!

Thanks for the app I was looking for something so I could leave poweramp on and not get image burn in, like a screen saver, which this does -though I notice I have to turn off screen timeout (presuming in all modes one needs to?)
Thanks
Edit: just changed my "car" profile in my profile settings to screen timeout "never", so that I guess easily enough solves it

I know this is an older post but wanted to point out that modern led screens are very very hard to burn and it would take years n years of a solid non moving image to burn in, long after you would have retired most phones. Have you ever seen an image burned into any phone?

I have the Samsung Captivate with the Super AMOLED screen. Apparently some image burn in can occur, as I set power amp music player screen to not turn off when playing, and after not even that much use (maybe more than i realized), leaving it on in the car sometimes, now when it's a solid screen, such as solid grey, I can lightly see the buttons (play, rewind, fast forward, etc.) burned in, so wanted to avoid further burn in.
Great app
I just try it and can say that is great app. It is be more better if you make that daydream app start when screen in idle. That be perfect. Thanks again for your work.

[APP] Super Simple Sleep Timer - Silence any audio app after a period of time [4.0+]

Hey guys,
Just a small utility I wrote for personal use which I thought I'd share in case anyone else finds it useful. As the title says, you set which audio app you want to stop after a set period of time, simple as that.
I personally use it before I go to sleep with either Umano or Pocket Casts, both have sleep timers but I find this much quicker to setup and use. Plus it has a lower volume option so it can tune it down to silence rather then just abruptly stopping the music.
Play Store Link
Any issues let me know, otherwise enjoy
i wanted one ..... really big thanks :good:
edit: here is what happened... the mx player app appears 3 times in the list... also i would love to have more than 60min option... and the app is unusable in the landscape mode..but still good work after all

I wanna keep it as simple as possible, I might add a widget for quickly settings the timer but not sure if I want to add a notification though. FYI you can cancel the timer anytime by just setting it at 0.

Thank you very much.
Worked fine in Poweramp, which has a built in sleep timer. Didn't work for me in HBO GO or Netflix. Would be nice to have those working for when I put on a movie I will almost certainly fall asleep to. But certainly not a complaint for a free app, more of a heads up. Thanks for your work!

Excellent app well done! thank you for the simplicity and keeping it free. It takes a lot of time and effort to put stuff together no complaints! BTW for the people who insist on new features i am sure donations motivate lol where is a p.p. link i would like to hit you with a fiver
Some suggestions, hope you don't mind.
Long durations than 1 hour (maybe like the Google calender selection, one outer circle for hours, inner circle for minutes).
Bigger gaps between 60 and 0 (more than once I want to set it to 60 and it goes to 0)
Make the press-able buttons more obvious (I didn't realize I had to press the button to activate the function, same for the lower volume option - the top part of the "Set sleep timer" button is too faint imho, more so on my old Nexus 7 than my Nexus 5.)

What I can do is make the number in the center editable so if you want more than 60 minutes you can just type it in, and yeah I'll make it so you can't infinitely go round the spinner to stop that between 60 and 0.
And hmm, what if I lose the button altogether and have it automatically set once you've set the time..
Very nice app!
A suggestion, hope you don't mind.
It would be nice to have an "all" option in the app drop down which broadcasts pause to all apps (it would make the app even simpler from a user perspective at least.)

New build is up:
- Added an "all" option which will pause all apps (although I've noticed that PowerAmp will start playing if it's already paused when it receives the pause command)
- The progress number is now editable so you can set any amount of time you want

[APP][4.0+] Turbo Alarm

Hello all,
I would like to introduce my app Turbo Alarm, it has more than 25K downloads and it is totally free (no-ads). It has in-app purchase only if you want to donate to keep improving the app. The list of the main features is:
★ Choose a folder with songs or your playlist as a tone and a different song will be played each day.
★ When you set the alarm Turbo Alarm shows the weather forecast for the time when the alarm rings.
★ Mini game to stop alarm definitely.
★ Tasker integration.
★ Google Now integration.
★ Sleepbot integration (basic integration).
★ Security Alarm which rings again if you still are at home.
★ ¿Do you want to wake up little by little? Then, select incremental volume and the time to reach the maximum.
★ Select the way the device vibrate when the alarm rings: relaxed, normal, rapidly or none.
★ You can choose the way to finish or snooze the alarm: switching the room light on, shaking the device, drawing a square or triangle, sliding a bar, long press, short press or just a big or a small button.
★ Simulate the sunrise in your bedroom with your favorite color.
★ Decremental snooze interval.
★ Widget with list of active alarms.
★ Dashclock extension (4.2+).
★ You can limit max snooze times.
★ Night clock with auto mute notifications.
★ Skip any day of the week (with a long press on the day). You will never forget to reactivate the alarm again.
★ Security alarm which rings again if you do not leave home in time.
★ Give a name to the alarms to remind you some events.
★ Anti-sleepyhead mode to wake you up even those days you are really tired.
★ Customizable background image.
You can contact me by email if you want to ask for new features or anything.
I am looking forward to hearing from your comments,
Fran.

i tried it
first, fantastic work on this app. it's clean, it's RICH in features and options. it really can cater to all kinds of sleepy heads !
if I could formulate one criticism: the font used for the clock itself, showing the time and the countdown is very different from the app's alarm font itself, and doesn't look very "alarm clock"-ish. I think it would probably benefit from being a little different, more in the clock styles. (Or given the many options you have, maybe allow for selection of the fonts for the clock!)

Thanks for your opinion, I am working on the fonts right now because some users think like you [emoji6]
Fantastic so far. Well done. My favorite is the mini game and the material design.
Looks nice.
I looked through the options menu, and I cannot seem to find a way to disable the alarm clock icon in the status bar. Did I miss something? All of the other alarm apps I have tried have this. I always have alarms set, so I don't need it taking up room on my status bar telling me that I have it on 24/7.

Hi,
This preference is at the bottom of the settings. It is called "active notification". There is three options and you can select none to remove completely. The one hour before notification is very useful to skip the alarm if you are already awake [emoji6]
Thanks,
Fran.
I set it to none last night, have an alarm set for 8:00, and the notification just reappeared at 7:00.

In my S5 works well. Could you try with the "Always when an alarm is active" option? Then check if a active notification is shown always.
Then set to "None" again and add an alarm for one hour and a minute from now and check again if the notification appears after a minute. If it does, it doesn't work in your phone.
Please, let me know what's your phone if you don't mind.
Thanks a lot!!
Fran.
Thank your for this great alarm app!
I really like your app because of its rich customization.
I especially like your "simulated sunrise" feature, because I am that type of person that gets up with light or brightness rather than sounds.
Would it be possible to add a pre-alarm "simulated sunrise", e.g. 30 mins before the alarm rings the display brightness slowly increases?
I charge my phone during the night, so battery consumption is not an issue for me.
I would really appreciate such a feature as it's pretty unique in the alarm app market.

Thanks @DeVisible. The pre-alarm is something I have had in mind since almost the beginning, but it is something I have to do it as well as possible and because of this I've never seen the moment to start implementing this feature. However I will try to do it for the next version

I will try that later today.
I had a hard time shutting my alarm off this morning. I had it set to draw a triangle, and I had to draw a triangle 3 times to get it to go off. My wife was watching me do it too, and confirmed that I was drawing triangles. I will let you know if I have the same issue tomorrow.

It is true, I need to make it easy to solved. Thanks for your comments.
Is there any way to make it so that I can name the alarms so that when they go off I know why they are going off?
I have been using Alarmdroid for years, but their newest update broke some things for me and I would love to switch to a new one. To get this app to be my daily alarm app, I need a way to name alarms, as I usually have 5-10 alarms always set for different things.

I tried to do this, I set an alarm for 2:42pm at 1:41pm, and I had it set to always show active. I then set it to none, and it stays there.
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 4 using 4.4.4 (my model number is in my signature as well if you need that).

Great application and free with no ads.
Perhaps Android back compatibility could be lower. Do you plan this in the future?

Thanks @doublekeys At the moment I have no plan to support older Android versions because it would be more limited ones. But maybe I will do it if more users are interested in this [emoji4]
