It is possible that the digitizer has been replaced, and the adhesive tape used wasn't as good as original

Has anyone else noticed what looks like smudges under the screen when in direct light? Is this common?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA
I think they're common, they're on mine at least, in the split second I noticed them in direct sunlight I burned with the fury of a thousand exploding suns, but I keep a micro fiber cloth with me and wiped the screen, once I realized the screen was still in perfect condition and all the "smudges" were all in the same direction I figured it was either part of the manufacturing process or just some of the inner workings of the phone. I have only ever seen it in direct sunlight at an angle though so I doubt very many people have noticed, I was actually examining my phone for any scratches or scuffs at the time so it was the kind of think I was actively looking for.
Thanx for the reply!....kinda thought it might be one of those "accepted" production defects that comes along with certain series of phones.

anyone else have a loose bezel on the right side of the screen? Mine doesnt seem to be attached to the screen like the left side is.
No my bezel is not loose on either side. Just took my g2x back and exchanged it with this one so much better.

Has anyone felt any empty spots on the back of their device?
When I'm holding the device in my left hand my thumb is on the front and fingers on the back. My forefinger hits this spot right above and a little further back than the card slot, and the case indents then if I shift the weight of the device at all it pops back out making a clicking sound. When this happens I feel the edge of the back piece move under my thumb as well.
It is a terribly minor issue but it's also annoying. As I'm reading the back of the device is popping in and out just a tiny bit and clicking.
Has anyone felt anything similar on their device? Should I just get a case and forget about it? I would hate to exchange something for this tiny little issue but it is very distracting (to me).

yes mine does it 2 its a lump of crap. i hate it with a passion that's why im selling it on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170811319...LX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_964wt_1344 and now im buying a galaxy nexus haha now that's quality. also it will be getting the new android 5.0 jellybean this year. our tab is good but not for what i what. i can not use it with out a case as it will scratch to bits. its almost like Samsung made it form a melted down coke bottle
hmm ive always heard these tiny click-like noises when i hold my tab without a case. annoyed me like crazy. i was thinking is was somehow the sd card slot cover. i'll check it out...
Well 10 minutes after posting, the Poetic case I ordered from Amazon arrived. Problem solved.
Primarily I wanted to know if the flexibility of the back cover was unusual. It seems to be so that greatly reduces the chances of exchanging it for one that doesn't have this issue.
Thanks for the help.

I guess I'm lucky I don't have that problem. (knocks on wood)

I personally haven't noticed it, but that's also because I have a folio case for it. No big woop, it works for me I'm happy.
I use my GT-P6210 naked, with nothing but a screen protector, and I haven't noticed anything like this. I've tried some gentle probing to look for soft spots. Nothing. Feels solid.

I don't have that problem either. And I've even dropped it a couple of times.

So I finally replaced my cracked screen and I've been having issues with my new digitizer. It's one of the LG digitizers, not the ones that say T-Mobile at the top. When you touch the extreme left side of the screen, it acts like you're touching the extreme right side of the screen at the same time. It's very weird - when I try to capitalize, it also backspaces, and my a's all have l's after them - stuff like that. It's like that all the way from the top of the screen to the bottom.
I got in there and cleaned a couple of specks of dust that I had accidentally left between the digitizer and LCD screen and it didn't seem to help. I used compressed air to clean the contact where the digitizer ribbon cable connects to the motherboard and tried to get the ribbon cable itself to sit under the motherboard nice and straight (I had a little trouble with it the first time and it could have been crooked, I guess, but I'm not sure if that would even matter.) I've also tried soft reboots, removing the battery, full wipes, and even have experimented with a few different ROMs. Acts exactly the same.
What do you guys think? Do I have a bad digitizer or is there something else I could try to get it to work properly? Thanks!
I buy broken phones of Craigslist and fix them. I have put digitizers on 4 g2x as of yet never had that problem. I'd make sure the connections were nice clean and seated correctly. I see you've done that so my conclusion is that you have a faulty unit. Run a calibration app and see if that helps

I had bought a digitizer with the LG logo on it and it was not as senseative to the touch and as well when touching the left or right sides of it where off a little. I used the ones with the T Moble logo and all works like new.

Hi, my screen cracked, so I got a replacement digitizer and installed it. When I reassembled the phone, it worked fine, except the buttons at the bottom (home, back, etc.) and the bottom 15% of the touch screen do not register. The rest of the touch screen works fine.
Do you know if that part is connected differently from the rest of the phone? Or any other reason it might be broken.
This may be dumb on my part, but my package didn't come with adhesive, so I used superglue. Could that be messing up the sensor somewhere? Or is it not likely that?
Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated.
You probably got some glue in the wrong place. I used 3M double sided adhesive, that way I could be exact with the placement

Hah what he said.
You should never use glue of any sort on electronics. If the manufacturers don't do it, then you surely shouldn't.
and how much trouble would it be to install one? Only the outer glass I know.

I got one, it went in all right, but was a pita to get the oldscreen off. Its pretty much glued on, has an adhesive gasket, and requires breaking the old screen to pieces separateto . The new screen never came with the outer seal, but i haven't had any issues yet. Its been in about two months.
I wouldn't trust eBay for a screw driver

I replaced my screen and the LCD. They are pretty tightly glued together but my glass was fine, it was the LED that was shot. I didn't watch the video but I can give you some of my experience. I got the replacement from China. It came with magic marker blocking out the 2 logos. It was on the plastic covering and there they were when I removed it. I didn't watch the YouTube I was watching past the point where he said press anywhere its broken anyway. The next sentence was "except here". I can tell you if press there you will hear an 8.95 snap. Its the power strip to the lighted home buttons. So I put the screen on and waited for it to arrive. I also got some 2mm double-sided tape this time. I knew to get it really hot also, even though I hadn't really pressed it home. I looked at the speaker hole and though that would be a good place to grab- DON'T. It snapped off the top part of the replacement screen. I thought oh well I might as well plug it up before I trash it. I lucked up and it didn't get into the LCD-YET. I'm using it now and there is one crack in the glass but a perfect picture. So, buy 2 or 3mm tape, do not press on lower right side where you see copper. Get it hot and then get it hotter- hairdryer. Take your time and remember the connectors. You understand that what you had a link to is just the outer glass and if the LED isn't broken you'll have an interesting time separating the two.
Oh, I put electrical tape where the top glass broke and its underneath the top of the plastic protector I bought. You'd have to be looking for it to notice. Sometimes you're the squirrel, sometimes the nut.
Good Luck

Well I failed at replacing the screen.....the digitizer cracked wen trying to separate the screen from it and yes I heated the screen to where it literally burned my finger...haha.....so now I'm stuck with a replacement screen I have no use for and had to shell out another $150 for the digitizer. I shudve just done that in the first place.
