Has anyone felt any empty spots on the back of their device?
When I'm holding the device in my left hand my thumb is on the front and fingers on the back. My forefinger hits this spot right above and a little further back than the card slot, and the case indents then if I shift the weight of the device at all it pops back out making a clicking sound. When this happens I feel the edge of the back piece move under my thumb as well.
It is a terribly minor issue but it's also annoying. As I'm reading the back of the device is popping in and out just a tiny bit and clicking.
Has anyone felt anything similar on their device? Should I just get a case and forget about it? I would hate to exchange something for this tiny little issue but it is very distracting (to me).

yes mine does it 2 its a lump of crap. i hate it with a passion that's why im selling it on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170811319...LX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_964wt_1344 and now im buying a galaxy nexus haha now that's quality. also it will be getting the new android 5.0 jellybean this year. our tab is good but not for what i what. i can not use it with out a case as it will scratch to bits. its almost like Samsung made it form a melted down coke bottle

hmm ive always heard these tiny click-like noises when i hold my tab without a case. annoyed me like crazy. i was thinking is was somehow the sd card slot cover. i'll check it out...

Well 10 minutes after posting, the Poetic case I ordered from Amazon arrived. Problem solved.
Primarily I wanted to know if the flexibility of the back cover was unusual. It seems to be so that greatly reduces the chances of exchanging it for one that doesn't have this issue.
Thanks for the help.

I guess I'm lucky I don't have that problem. (knocks on wood)

I personally haven't noticed it, but that's also because I have a folio case for it. No big woop, it works for me I'm happy.

I use my GT-P6210 naked, with nothing but a screen protector, and I haven't noticed anything like this. I've tried some gentle probing to look for soft spots. Nothing. Feels solid.

I don't have that problem either. And I've even dropped it a couple of times.

Anyone's TF developing creaks?

Normally I'm not one to obsess over this sorta thing but... My one month old TF seems to creak a lot when I press on the left edge (below the buttons) and either I'm going mad (quite possible) or it's getting worse...
If I grab it by the black bezel it's solid, it's when my thumb happens to rest on the bronze edge that it feels off and creaks audibly, I can seemingly push it back against the plastic back and feel it snap in or something. The other side has a tiny bit of it but it's nowhere near as bad... I'm just worried it might be stressing the screen or could loosen even more.
Mine doesn't feel very solid as well. It's a B50 model. I don't think there is any space between screen and glass. But a lack of strength is noticeable especially compared to iPAd2.

Agree..Price to Quality rato on TF...as well with anyother company. A reason why Apple commands a premium for QC.
I have exactly the same problem and think the creaks got worse since I bought my TF. Otherwise it's a great device but the browser is bad. And I spend 70% of the time on the tablet using it.
Mine developed the same problem down the left hand side after a couple of days of receiving it and just got worse and worse. sent it back after a week.

The replacement doesn't creak like the old one but if i squeeze the edges around the power/volume buttons the back moves in so there's some looseness. Right now i don't notice it in normal use and considering it took a month to get a replacement it's not worth sending it back. But i reckon at some point in the future i'll have to sendit in for repair.
I really like this device, and have to say i'm really impressed with the updates and that Asus seems to be listening to their customers - but the build quality in my experience is not good, i'd have happily paid an extra £50 for a more solid/robust build.

Lots of answers here if you search.
I agree it's super annoying.
But to venture a guess........the 3G transformer has a SIM slot in the exact location of the creaky side, soooooooo, it must be the lack of the SIM slot and included hardware that makes this thing creak. it would have been nice if Asus had stuffed something else into the WIFI model to fill the void. This is my only complaint with this device.
Mine uused to creak only on the right side bottom quarter... but I've noticed that it's been creaky in other places lately too. :/ But then again, it's not really as bad as some of what I've heard, and it's definitely more solid than my HP (which of course, was not of the envy line).
Mine creaks in the same spot as yours (OP) but I have it in a pretty nice carbon-fiber case now and it's a non-issue.

Mine creaked and felt a little loose at first, then it stopped and everything feels really tight, i think messing with it one night i clicked something in place, the glass seems to sit more even as well.

Hmm, thanks for the feedback guys... I guess if it ever gets worse I might put the warranty to good use. Right now it's sorta irksome but not bothersome enough for me to bother just yet.
I can sorta recreate the sound from that YouTube clip but only if I push back on the copper border the press in from the plastic back (ie pushing that section back and forth from both directions)... Meaning, if you obsess over it then it'll definitely drive you crazy and you'll probably even make it worse in the long run.
During normal handling mine definitely doesn't creak quite as much. I've sorta gotten into the habit of putting more of my hand around it when picking it up (when I've noticed it creak the most) versus just grabbing it by the very edge, which pretty much mitigates the issue. No creaking at all around the longer sides without the excess wrap around border so I don't even notice in a portrait orientarion (which is how I do most of my reading).
Honestly, if this continues to be my biggest complaint after a few months, I'll be pleased as punch. I just hope it doesn't get proggresively worse. I definitely wouldn't pay $100 more for a sslightly more solid feeling device without as many ports or forms of expansion (dock/microSD), but that's just me.
Likewise, if i don't obsess over it, it's not gonna bother me - not worth sending it off for a month at the moment. But at least we've got the warranty there if it gets worse.

Creaking over time?

Hey all.
First off, I love my note 10.1. It has its issues, like anything else, but it still is the only android tablet with a true wacom digitizer and killer hardware. I've been using my tablet pretty heavily for the last 12 days. The first thing I did when I opened the box was check the build quality. It had absolutely no creaking and only very minor flex on the back panel (pretty rigid considering it's plastic). however lately i've been noticing it's starting to creak as I hold it near the pen silo and on the other metallic edge. I've ordered a case that should be coming soon so this won't be too bothersome, but I have some ideas of why this occurs.
First, I accidently inserted the Spen backwards into the silo and I think this might have wedged the case apart a bit. This did not cause any creaking however. I have a feeling that when writing with your hand weighing down tablet (like any sheet of paper that you write with) the combined pressure/body heat is distorting the frame.
So I'm wondering if any other heavy handwriting users are experiencing this aswell?
lol hit the thanks by mistake......
Anyway try putiing a skinomi skin on the back- i used a brushed metal and- it looks great, still fits in all the cases i use and - NO creaking. I guess it helps stiffin' the back enough to stop it. i did not really have alot of creaking to start..
Who cares if iets creaking. Its the only tablet i can actually draw on.:good:
Yeaaaa they should really redesign the s pen so that it can go in the slot without worrying about if its the right side or not...

Yeah, my tablet was definitely silent at first but over time developed a slight creak. It probably doesn't mean too much hopefully, but it's really sad how much more solid my original Galaxy Tab 10.1 was.
Heck....EVERYthing starts to "creak over time"! Including me.....lol! Wait....that's really not too funny.... :/
Seriously, have been taking more and more notes and have yet to notice. Hopefully the build is string enough to withstand use. Adding a good screen protector that did not interfere with the digitizer was an initial concern for me.

Have a GS3 that kind of "shifts" when you push or hold a certain way?

anyone else have one like this that when you grab a certain way at the top, it actually feels like the entire body is shifting? like as if something is loose?
on many of teh GS3's i've noticed this. both of mine have it, but my boss's doesn't. I checked one in stock, it doesn't either.
the reason?
the battery compartment. on some GS3's (majority of what i've seen, actually) the battery compartment is like, a hair too big for the battery. therefore, when you grab the phone a certain way, the battery is actually popping out and moving a bit! this causes a weird body-shift.
some GS3's battery compartments are perfect size, and they're nice and snug on the battery (like my boss's) and there's no body shift.
so i took just a tiny piece of paper, not even folded, and i put one piece between the battery and the side on the left towards the top, and then on the top. no more body shifting!
Do not have this issue on mine.
I know other people who have them, will be checking as I come across them.
Thanks!

Samsung does seem to make" plasticy" flimsy devices but they seem to be getting better. I was reluctant to buy my s3 because of that fact but now that I have it I couldn't be happier with it. Best phone I have ever had by far.

mines brand new, and so is my blue one.
i can't film it because it's literally like a milimeter shift of the body..when you "twist" the body ever so slightly, you can see the battery start to pop out in the top left corner. if you hold it, you can feel this shift..but the "twist" is how you can accurately re-create it every time. put your thumb on like the top left back corner and your other hand on the bottom and just somewhat twist it to see.
just using it like normal use, i would notice the shift as well. my Nexus 7 does the EXACT same thing, but the nexus 7 causes pressure on the screen, which makes the blacks look whiter because the screen seems to be pushing against the glass, or the back or something. my N7 shifts pretty badly lol so that's how i started noticing it on my S3.
mines still shifting even though I'm putting pieces of paper to try to settle the battery in. If you twist the frame slightly with the back cover off you can see the upper left corner of the battery pop out and you can push it back in.. so the frame is moving the battery around meaning the battery compartment just isn't a good fit with this body design on some phones.
which unfortunately created creaking and popping noises like mine has... kind of annoying now but at least it's not as bad as the battery door creaking on the rezound.

Keyboard no longer locks.

Hey all. One day when I picked my pad and dock up by the screen it just came apart. Thinking I might have hit the slider earlier I didn't think anything of it. Next time it happened I looked at the locking ports. It looks like there were little plastic tabs that swivel up and down inside there? I used a pin and moved to back to its horizontal position and didn't think anything of it. However a few weeks later the same thing happened and when I looked in there I could see those plastic tabs on the tablet anymore. Now it just slides off and is there something you can do or do I just never remove it from the poetic case I bought.

I'm not sure if this is going to help you out, but over time my dock started to hold the tablet *very* loosely. I could pull the thing out without touching the switch. I ended up putting a couple strips of electrical tape on the padding inside the clamp (stacked on top of each other). Now the connection feels as solid as ever. If something has snapped off you might be out of luck, but it's worth a shot.
FYI, I was worried at first that the tape might scuff the bezel over time. After two months it hasn't been an issue.
I have the same problem. Its a bit annoying considering the price you pay for these things.
Mine just started doing the same thing not sure tape will help in that the locking mechanism does not catch at all. Has anyone contacted asus on the issue? Haven't dealt with their support at all didn't know if it was a lost cause

Is the corner of the phone too sharp/digging into your palm?

When I hold the phone with the corner of it touching my palm it feels sharp and "poky". I've noticed it as soon as I took it out of the box, at first I thought it might be the protective stickers but no that wasn't it. The back doesn't seem to be perfectly flush with the sides at the corners, just enough to be a bit annoying when in hand.
Is anyone else noticing this? I'm coming from S4 which was really nice in hand, even with the "cheap" plastic.
yes a bit annoying to me and i am wondering whether i should put a case on it to fix this problem.

I just opened my box and it's the first thing I noticed like a pinching on my palm. The back is too sharp and the side of the phone is inset. A big problem for me because it's annoying every time I use it! Arghh.. The other first impressions are great though! I'm gonna send mine back.. I guess.. Just not enjoyable to use it.
Never noticed anything like that. The white phone felt great in the hand. Just always feel like I'm going to drop it so I put on a case. Still feels awesome.

I've had to alter how I would normally hold a phone of this size for it to feel comfortable in my hands. It's feels more angular then any other smartphone I've owned, although it doesn't look it.
On mine, the back lower left corner is a little sharp as if the back plate is poking my hands a little. But to the eye it looks OK.

Lmao, definitely something a little minor to complain about. I also noticed the bottom right corner of the phone doing this depending on how I grip the phone. But when I check the corners to see if they are uneven or off they seem to be fine. I'll post up here if I end up in the ER with a pinch injury...
