Well, received mine today, and... my Nexus One does not fit??? It will not slide far enough over the micro-usb connection.... any of you guys experienced anything like this?
It does not charge now... and there's like 2mm of space left between the bottom of my Nexus One and the holder.. I've used force to some extent, but it just will not slide any further..

I'm new here so I can't post links but go to androidforums.com and search for the thread ProClip Mounting System. In there you'll find a guy (dbpaddler) that has a lot of knowledge about these mounts. He's a re-seller for Brodit I think. Tell him about your problem and maybe he can help.

Sounds very odd. Can you post us a few pictures of what's going on?
See attachment. The micro-usb connector in the holder is about 4.5mm high, but my Nexus One will only slide over it like for 2mm and then it feels like it is blocked by something. I've used force, but no movement whatsoever.
I find it strange too.. I don't see anything odd on the connector, nor on the female connector on my Nexus One. I guess I'll take it back to the store...
How odd. It looks like the connector is slightly left of centre, if you use the trackball to be centre... no jiggling will make it fit?
It may look a bit off-centre due to my photography skills, it looks okay in real life. Jiggling or forcing does not help unfortunately. Of course the connector that came with my Nexus One charger fits nicely, and I don't see any peculiarities when I compare it to the one on the Brodit.
Anyhow, I logged an issue with the webshop that I bought it from and they happen to have a brick-and-mortar store some 50km from here, so I may drop by to demonstrate my problem. Thanks for your help.

Nope, no skin. Going to the store later today to have the holder replaced, they think it may just be a faulty unit. Will keep you all posted.
Well, guess what.... just returned from the store, and the replacement holder that they offered had exactly the same problem. The sales guy was as astonished as I was. Personally he had not sold any of these, since the Nexus One is officially not available yet here in the Netherlands, so demand is minimal, but it makes me wonder if I'm really the only one with this problem, and whether my specific Nexus One could be the problem...
Anyway, he took mine back and I was fully refunded, so kudos for pdashop.nl.
Downside: still no carmount for me.

We (both me and the sales guy in the store) used force and wiggled, but to no avail. Besides, I don't want a holder that needs wiggling in the first place. I want it to fit perfectly. That's why I do not buy a universal holder but a Nexus-specific one.

Yeah update, just tried and fitted like a glove. must have loosen up
does the charger model charge the phone at 500ma or 1000ma? can someone with one check the settings and see if it says charging usb or ac?

Ive had the official one since the day it was available. Although i do like it, it isnt perfect. The phone doesnt sit as well as i would hope so. Its fallen over many times for me, enough to warrant a case purchase....which doesnt fit in the dock. In the end, it wasnt worth the extra coin i paid for it. So i say spend your 25$ on the one you see and dont look back

I'd really prefer the microUSB connection to enable easy data transfer and adb, so I may have to try this one. Most docks with microUSB use the connection as the only vertical support but this one has a molded plastic guard to reduce the strain on the port. Worth trying for $25, imo.

It works perfectly and even the phone sits firmly in the dock, much better than in the official dock. The only reason to get the official dock is if you want the clock app to activate automatically or hook it up to a stereo or something. Otherwise, get one of these 3rd party apps to charge your spare battery and phone and manually activate the clock app before you go to bed.

Hey Jak - can the Nexus fit in the cradle with a rubber/silicone case? How is the back support? I'm thinking about getting one of these but in looking at it, I'm concerned that there is not enough support to take off the strain from the USB port. Like it would cause the charging port to become loosened over time. Please let me know.

I've got this cradle and that's exactly what I do. I take off the lower part of my Seidio Innocase II Surface case before sliding it in the dock and then open the clock app myself. Been using it for about 3 weeks now without a hitch. I had originally ordered the official N1 dock and decided I didn't like the way the phone sat in it within 15 mins of opening the box and returned it to HTC. With the microUSB plug in the bottom, the phone never falls out and holds it in position for clicking on the screen when in the dock. The only down side to the dock is it has an extremely bright blue led on it that acts as a night light in my room. I've since started taking the bottom part of my case and laying it over that light. Overall, I'd say the 3rd party dock is way better then Google's.
P.S. - One other nice thing about the dock is you can charge your phone via USB or the power cord that comes with it. USB will not charge the extra battery and a phone though, so if you want to do that combo, you have to plug it into the wall.

I haven't tried it with a rubber case, but it doesn't fit with a hard case. It supports the phone around the base and slight in the back. It feels very stable.
Oh, the battery charger has 4 pins, so I think it's an intelligent charger.

Just arrived. So far it's exactly what I wanted. The plastic support is perfectly molded to the Nexus, so the phone snaps solidly into place. There's a bright blue LED on the front, so that may be bothersome if you're using it as a nightstand but it could be covered up easily. Charging and sync work as expected. Definitely worth the price.

Hey, was bored so i made this dock out of the samsung galaxy s box, have a go if your feeling creative
See attachments for finished product
GUIDE:
You need:
Knife/scissors (also a screwdriver (thin as possible) is helpfull)
Galaxy s box (and inserts)
Cocktail sticks x2 (dont need if you use a STRONG glue)
Optional:
Coins (to add weight)
tape/glue (if you want a little extra support, not needed though)
Heres a quick guide and some pics to help are in the attachments
!)Get the foam piece that the phone sits in when you first get it
2)Cut holes to allow cables to go through foam and plug into phone
3)Cut the foam side opposite the side that you cut the holes in to.
4)cut corner off the box which has the documentation in it.
5)Stick the bit of foam you cut off the box into the rim of the corner you cut of (the glue used to stick it to the original box should be sufficent so you dont need to add your own)
6)use cocktail sticks cut to make them shorter to attach the back bit you just made to the front.
7)Add coins inside back if you want more weight and stablility (use tape to secure)
8)Done!

Maybe I can add some tips. To make the cardboard box more sturdy and water proof. Get some clear polyurethane, add a coat of polyeurethane. It will make it more sturdy, thicker, and water proof.

For warranty claims don't they just send you the phone and you send yours back? I do see where it can make a difference in selling the phone though.

I think DeskHome only launches your Dock App (according to comments), which the Galaxy S does not have. So be careful before buying it, might be useless.

Huh? I was talking about the mentioned application "DeskHome". All it does is start the "docking station" mode of the phone, so it will probably not work with the Galaxy S. That would be a 1 $ waste....
Just download the dock app using My Market app. Set it to T-mobile.

I recently dropped my desire onto concrete and, while it landed on the side and thankfully wasn't too damaged the side housing was slightly split and was sharp, so I ebay'd a replacement casing (only £2.99) and went about fitting it.
All went well except when I popped the micro-coax cable for the gps antenna (by sticking my fingernail under the jack, as I have done many times on other similar connectors) it simply flew off, leaving the cable flapping. For what it's worth, I can't believe (given the amount of force I used) that it can have been connected fully in the first place, but of course I can't prove that now...
I'm pretty sure I can't solder that back together, firstly I don't think I have the skill or the kit (I can solder but this looks pretty intricate) and secondly I'm unsure there's enough spare cable left to solder it.
So now I'm looking for another cable and I simply can't find anyone selling them; further I can't even find any detail on the type of connector so I can search for a generic cable that might fit.
Any info would be much appreciated!

My device had other errors,so I didn't try it after all,bought a used Desire.
Anyway,I think this connector is called U.FL or IPX,commonly used in miniPCI(e) laptop wifi cards,routers,etc.It can't be soldered as it's not soldered originally.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the item they ship is completely wrong - the cable's too long and the coax connectors are too large.
Think I'm going to have to resort to looking for a faulty phone on ebay.

I ended up with a Hirose 10cm W.FL cable from RS - they don't stock the Hirose 70mm version which would have been better, the only people who seem prepared to sell that is mouser and they wanted about 20UKP including delivery.
The RS cable works but I had to bend it around stuff to use up the extra cable and the signal quality doesn't seem 100% at first impression (I'll do some side-by-side testing later with my wife's Desire - I did the repair this morning first thing before I left for work!) - I'm hoping it will be Good Enough though (I'm getting 6 or 7 sats, so it should be usable).

For anyone considering it, the 10cm cable was perfectly adequate - I drove into work with the Desire navigating and it all went perfectly. Sat next to another Desire GPS Status shows very similar output, certainly nothing noticeably worse.
Okay, so I have given up hope that HTC will be making the desktop dock that uses the pogo pins for our model anytime soon. I feel that the customs lockdown by Apple has really stunted the production of accessories for our phones since not many people have them yet.
So basically, I am wondering about the viability of modifying the HTC One X Desktop Dock to work with our phones (specifically this one here):

Bumping because I honestly didn't know what those 5 connections were for. And that'd be cool.

B) There are more markets than the US.
I think the problem is the Galaxy SIII is the device "got to have it now Android fanboys" are looking for and the sales of the HTC One X was really not that great.

Yeah I was curious about this too. Not that I'd really want to attempt it, but I am getting tired of the lack of AT&T (ONE XL) accessories and I really want this dock as well. I'd really hate to rough it up since it looks sleek in it's natural form. You could always shave down the bottom/corners to get the plugs to line up but I think the indent for the camera might still give you a slight issue and it wouldn't set right as a result.
I seriously hope they plan to release this for the AT&T version eventually.

Without seeing the internals, it's impossible to know. Those pins are the charge/sync connection--note that there is no microUSB connection.
It's possible the assembly holding the pins is separate and moveable; its also possible that it's part of the main circuit board, in which case modding would be next to impossible for average DIY folks.
Even if the pins can be moved, the connections to the main board in things like this are often hair-thin wires that are very easy to break and next to impossible to solder back together.
I've tried mods/repairs like this in the past, and failed more often than I got it to work.

US can buy One X now. The point is, it probably would have taken 2 months for there to have been an OEM One XL desktop dock under normal circumstances. But, since one of the biggest markets for the One XL didn't sell hardly any devices, it unquestionably set the sales way back. Then to make matters worse, when they finally did get going the GS3 was almost out so that hurt things even more.
So yeah, obviously GS3 will have hurt things, but don't think that the One X would not have done much better without Apple's meddling.

True enough.
After all the effort you will put into modding it, and not even knowing if the mod will work. You're better off just waiting a few weeks until they release a HOXL version..

Confirmed back in May that they're not in same spot.
It's on the AT&T store, but apparently it hasn't shipped out to anyone yet. Also they won't apply my discount to it either. Very weird.
this does exist.. i have seen and used one.... it ONLY works on the one X and not the XL. (the xl is the LTE / atnt version)... The pins on the ONE XL and differently located as everyone says and i can confirm.. i have not seen a dock like this for the XL yet... if any one has please reply.. with the model number..

I gave up on this and just grabbed a dock off of eBay. They sell for 10 bucks a pop and they use the usb port. Certainly not as nice as the pogo pins would have been, but it works.

I got me a One X cradle today, works pretty awesome.
Just drop the phone on it and it starts charging and playing music instantly (if music was already on.)
The sound is pretty good, just got no bass, but can't expect that of a dock with no woofer.
That's why I want to try and mod in a Jack plug in the circuit, so I can hook it up to my stereo really easy.
For that I was opening the dock and remembered this thread, may as well make some pictures and share.
In return, can anyone give me some advice on how to place the jack plug?
I was thinking of cutting the wires that go from the main PCB to the speakers and place a jack and a switch between.
So I can switch between jack and speakers with the switch.
But I'm not 100% sure this will work, any advice before I ruin my dock at the first day?
If I use this method, do I use two read wires and one black, or the other way around?
Would like to have a stereo output of cores.
Would it be better to hook it up before the main PCB (before the signal is amplified)?
I can't really figure out what wire is what, except for the wires that go to the speakers.

About the the small PCB with the 5 pogo pins.
If the spacing between the pins is the same on XL as on X, you could move this PCB and maybe make things fit for the XL. But doesn't seam easy. If the spacing is different, than it would be very very hard. The pins a re pressed through a small metal beam and than soldered individually.

I /believe/ than your idea of putting a switch before the speakers would be fine (having the signal amplified before your plug to your own jack) But getting the signal before would be better...
There's a good chance that the pins are digital and you won't be able to get audio before the board.. You could have your phone in the dock.. with the dock opened up. Then take some old headphones and cut the jack off, take the wires from one earpiece and try the pins one by one (without undocking your phone) You definitely won't be able to hurt your phone by moving them around (I just wouldn't hold them down a long time if you're on ground and vcc) but for a moment should be fine
so I would try moving the earpiece wires onto the different pins (you really probably have to have it in the dock, I doubt that audio signal goes out unless the phone thinks it's in a dock..
But seriously I'm pretty confident that getting the signal just before the speakers would be fine
I have ordered a UK One X dock, and modded it to fit the US ATT phone, as suggested in this thread. I cut out a small rectangle where the pins are, and moved it over, and glued it into place with some loctite epoxy. It was extremely difficult to get the pins to be in just the right spot, and I didn't get them quite perfect (but really close), so it wouldn't work with the little tray part that goes between the phone and the dock (I guess it's an adapter to fit a bigger and smaller version of the phone or something??). But I was able to put some little foam spacers in between the phone and the dock to get it to line up just right. Not as pretty as the dock started, but it works great, so I am very happy with it.
Also, because it's the UK version, the wall plug is the UK type of plug with the 3 big prongs, so you will need an adapter to plug it into a US socket. Also, the end that plugs into the dock is kind of different from a regular micro usb plug. A regular micro usb plug will fit, though, so I tried one, with the charger that came with the phone, and it didn't work/charge. Dunno why.
The dock does block the headphone plug, and I also found that it makes the lock button difficult to press, but that might be because I couldn't fit the spacer tray thingy. The dock speaker does work, and is pretty loud. Not sure if I'd trust it for an alarm clock though.
I wouldn't really recommend attempting it unless you really want to have a dock. This is the first phone I've gotten that has pogo pads, and I really wanted a dock that would use them, and I've done enough mods like this that I know I'll be able to at least have a working dock at the end, even if it's really ugly. Even then, it took a lot longer than I was expecting.
I'm at work, but I'll take/post some pics when I get back home, sorry, but I forgot to this morning.

Wait...so the ATT version of the HTC One X is called the One XL? I guess I'm farrrrr behind on my model number knowledge, because I thought the Telstra/another Canadian carrier version was the XL.

I know this thread is really old....but this whole mod was just for the pogo pins? For devices that don't rely on them, the international One X and the ATT version will be cross-compatible, right? At least as far as accessories go, the only different is the pogo pin placement? So cases, and devices that use the Microusb port, or other dimensions should be exactly the same, right? I had a ATT HOX, but I ended up tossing it for the Note. It was always known to me, and spoken about in discussions as the "ATT HTC One X" or ATT HOX.
I wound up buying one again at a later date for my sister....and now I'm looking to get her a dock so she'll be able to use it on a nightstand/end table as a sort of digital clock/ alarm clock, after I install some fancy app.
What do I need to buy? And I need to get one specifically for the ATT HTC One X? And it's called the One XL? Sorry....I had mine the first week it came out....quite a while ago. The customs issues are ironed out now, but the HTC website, when clicking accessories on the device page shows 0 accessories....ridiculous.
Any recommendations for a affordable dock? Any other killer accessories I might consider for her? Christmas is nipping me in the butt here, and I'm hurting for time. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi. I just ran into this old thread. I just got my att htc one x plus and i really want to make this dock work for it. This morning i received the uk dock so im ready for some modding. Do you still have it? do you have any pics of your result? thank you and much appreciated.
