[Q] TWRP Compatibility? - Asus Transformer TF700

Just saw a new twrp 2.5.0.0 posted in the development section. Does anyone know if using it will cause any issues since I have ths sbdags patched bootloader with 2.4.4.0. I certainly don't want to brick. I'm currently running CROMi-X v4.2 (and loving it). Thanks in advance!

I confirmed that 2.5.0.0 should work fine with old or new bootloader.

Thanks
Thanks for getting back to me on this. I went ahead and used GooMgr to install the new TWRP. Booted into and made new system backup. Everything works like a charm. Now I'm really looking forward to CROMi-X with 10.6.1.14 full rom.
Cheers

4.3 coming along. Just going through the pains of rebuilding apks with mods and all the bugs that need to be worked out.

Finally docked!!
WOOT Just got my tf700 dock and I'm all set for the new rom when it comes out!! Life's good. This device is shaping up to be one of the best devices I've ever owned... aside from my killer gaming desktop of course. As far as mobile devices though, this one is the cat's meow!

Best Jelly Bean rom

What's the best jelly bean rom for the One S (S4). I'm tired of waiting for the official OTA from HTC so i'm going to try a custom rom. I've heard CM10 is one the best but i could only find nightlies in the development section. Any suggestions?

Nightlies work fine so don't worry about that and if you want a bit of a tweaked one then BAKED BlackBean is a good rom. But before you do anything if you haven't flashed a rom on this phone then you want to get yourself into the All-In-One Toolkit thread and do a bit of read before you do any flashing and also don't install CWM but instead install TWRP recovery.
Oh right thanks dude, and yh I've done rooting on this phone before so I've got the all in one kit. Atm I'm unrooted so I don't have a custom recovery so what's different about twrp from cwm

Its not buggy and can mount SD and if you have 1.09 or lower Hboot it can also flash the boot.img.

Not really but you are bested off with TWRP. Its mostly it will boot into CWM if you turn off the phone with usb cable connected and cant mount SD.

Baked is good too, but I find the latest PAC Man ROM to be really stable, and has lots of good tweaks and customizations available (its also one of the more recently updated AOSP base ROMs).
Also make sure to use a good AOSP kernel, and klin has the only good solution, his Fusion 3.1. It works very well for me. If your coming from SENSE, you will need to flash that kernel as well in order to load the ROM (check the kernel thread for install instructions and follow carefully, since you may need to fastboot flash in addition to flashing the .zip).

LOL, I remember your posts in that kernel thread... Hard to know what the issue is. Seems like kernels can have feelings too, and it dont like you, lol.
But in all seriousness, I would definately second your recomendation for using TWRP custom recovery. It has lots of useful features and is way more intuitive than Clockwork. Its also been updated more recently than Clockwork for the HTC One S.
I used clockwork for a while until I tried TWRP and now havent looked back. If you try it, you will see why its better.

Yeah, klin said it won't work for baked as of yet.
And I would have to agree that baked is the nicest rom available for the one s. I have it UC to 1.026ghz and it's as responsive and quick as anything else at 1.5 or even OC'd higher. The battery life is excellent as well
There's also some settings he added under settings->baked rom control->prop modder/init.d that are really nice. Some signal enhancements, boot settings etc.
I'm not sure if you prefer sense to aosp, or if the main reason for wanting jb is for Google Now, but the viper rom has GNow working just fine and is sense based.

[Q] Which ROM package?

Hello all, noob here! I am newly rooted and wondering what the best ROM/gapps package is for me to try out. Vital. Stats below!
Currently running:
TF700t US
Stock Asus 4.1
Bootloader 10.4.4.25 unlocked
TWRP 2.5
Have ROM Manager and Goo Manager
Have good backup for base recovery if needed.
Already tried Baked and Paranoid, will boot but cannot get gapps afterwards, maybe wrong ver? Just going with whatever Goo pulls up first. Also tried CM 10.1 RC5, get stuck on Cyanogenmod spinning symbol. Oddly, as long as I tap the screen continuously, it will keep spinning, as soon as I stop it freezes and starts boot process over. I would appreciate any tips or advice from you all.

Could be you have the wrong bootloader for CM 10?
I love CROMi-X, check it out. For this one you also have to flash the bootloader first and coming from 4.1 a clean install with total wipe is recommended for CM and CROMi-X.

. 25 is the latest bootloader for JB 4.1. The latest for CromiX, which is based on JB 4.2, is 10.6.1.14.8.
Coming from a 4.1 you have to flash the 10.6.1.14.8 bootloader first, boot back into your old rom and then you can flash CROMI-X.
Best would be if you flash the bootloader /TWRP package from the OP of the CROMI-X thread.
Going from 4.1 to 4.2 it is recommended that you do a clean install. Wipe everything in TWRP before flashing the new rom and re-install your apps (after backing up everything dear to you, naturally)

I just took the plunge as well. Still tip toeing around until I sort out what to do when and where. Have TWRP and Ti Backup
I just flashed your ROM 4.6.5 while you were away sipping grappa rather than 4.6.6.
Seems you've tweaked issues what have you and released 4.6.7.
What is the path of least resistance to update ROM and keep it current?

looking for some info, new to the tf300t

I just ordered a refurbed tf300t w/ the keyboard dock. I'm looking to root it and install cm pretty quickly. From what i can gather there are some problems with the 4.2 bootloader and cm. Can some one point me in the direction of a guide to unlock the bootloader and which twrp to install. I figure since its refurbed it's probably on 4.2.
everything on the forums i found is for 4.1 or less. also is there a reason this tablet isnt a stable cm10.1 device?

On this tablet don't get in a hurry for anything. When you verify (absolutely) the bootloader version (ICS(4.0), JB(4.1), JB(4.2 10.6.1.8), or JB(4.2 10.6.1.15.3) then you can begin to read and plan.
Here is a link to many things you will need including the two apps for unlocking the bootloader.
While there don't forget to thank philos64. You will use this thread many times while owning this tablet.
Unlocking is simple. Run the proper app for your bootloader version as explained in the above thread. Two apps for the four bootloaders.
Which twrp etc depends on the bootloader in use.
Good Luck!
Go slow, do your homework, and play safe or this tablet will leave you in the dust (there are many, many bricks to prove it).
I don't know about the current cm10 and stability when it went multi user (10.1) I started looking for other roms.
Just my desire not problems with 10.1.
I'm also new to this device and after unlocking just followed this today:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42005728&postcount=91
Changed a couple of things, such as TWRP version and flashed CM10.1 instead of the one in the example. All I changed from the guide linked were the files used, based on thoroughly reading other topics first.

I'm afraid rom choice is mostly personal. For my use all versions of CROMi have been solid and you have many options during install to customize as you like.

My favorite stock rom is 10.4.2.20.
If you intend unlocking and flashing a custom rom you might want to update to the proper bootloader for that rom while you still have stock recovery (not twrp).

Bootloaders have been an issue on this tablet since 4.1 (JB) arrived.
I swap at will between the JB bootloaders using stock recovery - next bootloader up or down.
Yes, be careful! Match bootloader, rom and twrp.
Here are the bootloaders, stock roms, and twrp- now you have to match your custom rom.
4.1 bootloader - 10.4.2.9, 10.4.2.13, 10.4.2.17, 10.4.2.18, 10.4.2.20 - twrp openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-JB.blob
4.2 bootloader - 10.6.1.8 - twrp openrecovery-twrp-2.4.4.0-tf300t-4.2.blob
4.2.1 bootloader - 10.6.1.15.3 - twrp openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob
I'm confused just reading this mess.

First I must say I rate roms by how compatible they are and if everything I use works without issues including lag.
The link I provided for CROMi shows a score of 6214 in the first post (op).
I notice there is at least one other CROMi listed which I have not tried. The CROMi by sbdags also provides other kernel options for more speed and other enhancements.
I'm sure someone else will respond with the fastest kernel for this rom as it is very popular.

yeah im noticing a bit of lag on 4.2.1 i dont know if its the rom or hardware, I must say I absoloutly love this tablet. Coming from an og nook color and a kindle fire this is leagues better.
The tablet screen shots on the page are from the tf700, if you look at the build number, so that quadrent score is probably not a good representation of our tablet.
Other than that the stock rom is fine but, I'm always looking for better performance.
For better performance I would reccomend cromi-x it is WAY smoother then stock, but based on stock.

I'm getting my tf300t on Saturday! I'm so pumped by the way, make sure to search for Roms on Google too, some Roms aren't released on xda. Like jellybam! I saw jellybam has a release for the tf300t. Woot-woot always wanted to try that one out.

[Q] Rom advise please

Hi Guys,
I have just brought a TF700, and I have set up 3 user profiles, but it is very unstable even after i have disabled all of the unused apps.
From what I have been reading it would appear my best option is to put a custom rom on it.
Now i have achieved this kind of thing in the past as I put Android on a HTC HD2 many moons ago.
I currently have a HTC One and i love the OS on that which is 4.3, so i was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a 4.3 Rom that is fairly close to what i have on the HTC One for my TF700.
Thanks in advance
You didn't say which rom you put on your HTC
CM 10.2 emulates JB 4.3, I believe Paranoid and OMNI ROM also have 4.3 versions, but most of the devs seem to have moved on to KitKat (CM11), but it still seems to be somewhat buggy and slow at this point.
You find the threads in the development section

Thanks for coming back.
I haven't changed anything on my HTC One at moment because I am more than happy with how it is performing.
I will take a look, but once again thanks.
I have been looking at various threads, but I am still a bit undecided on which way to go.
Anyone else that has wanted to update to 4.3 have any tips or advise for me?
I wouldnt mind eventually going down the 4.4 route, but as I have only just got the tablet - I would firstly like to flash it to something more stable than it currently is.
Many Thanks
What really could help to speed up your TF700t is a factory restart.
For me it was really helping a lot .... even if i am right now "only" on rooted stock FW.
Try this as well.

I have only just brought it, and it was back to factory default, but I did it agin before puting all my apps that I wanted on.
And it was very slow and unstable then, but I then disabled all of the preinstalled apps that I didnt want to use, and it is better, but because I have heard that 4.3 does use less memory I still think it would be worth a try.

I am not sure why you think 4.3 is so much better than 4.2.1. AFAIK that was not a major update or improvement....
If you are looking for a fast and totally stable rom for this tablet, go for CROMi-X! It's based on the Asus firmware 4.2.1 for this tablet, so everything is optimized for THIS device. CM roms are generic. They run a on a multitude of devices - that's why you have more bugs and conflicts

Not that I'm aware of. It was a pretty minor upgrade. Kit Kat 4.4 offers far more interesting features.
Plenty of google results out there:

Thats fair enough.
I have to admit I like the look of the 4.3 more, but decided to upgrade to the CROMi-X one, and then wait for the 4.4 - which I did last night and I am very impressed - it is loads smoother.
So Thanks for your advise.

Nahhh - only tried it as ROM2SD. And it's still sleeping on some of my sd cards.
I was not impressed. CM didn't add anything but eye candy (I didn't care for) and I think by now CROMi-X in conjunction with Xposed modules (if you care for those and the performance hit they come with) gives you way more options to customize this tablet than CM.... not even mentioning your tweaks!

Yeah - and that will be like: Never ??? LOL
I ordered the TF701 yesterday and once I got it set up as my daily driver, I'm prepared to test the hell out of this tablet. Should be fun to have a tablet just to play with (and nvflash blobs safely squared away)

CROMi-X is just the nickname for CROMi-Xenogenesis (who wants to write that all the time???). CROMi 3.5 would be just a minor step up from what yo got now...
Latest and greatest version of CROMi-X is 5.2.4. But you are on an outdated bootloader and no doubt an old recovery.
So head over to the CROMi-X thread, grab the bootloader/TWRP package sbdags provided in the OP and download the rom (dl both to your microSD)
Boot into TWRP and do a Factory Wipe - that will wipe your apps, but not your data (but you got everything backed up anyway, right????)
Flash the bootloader/TWRP package and reboot
Boot back into TWRP and flash the ROM

Lollipop...is it possible to put lollipop on a TF300T?

Are there any working Lollipop ROMs out there that work well on an ASUS TF300T?
I have a rooted TF300T with a Jellybean CROMi-Xenogenesis 5.4 ROM on it and I very much would like to upgrade to Lollipop, provided that it works well with all the features on the TF300T.
Is such a ROM available?
Cheers muchly
Have a look at KatKiss rom.

May I ask if you use KatKiss personally on a TF300T and if it works with all the tablet's kit?
Thank you
I use it on my ASUS TF300TG (3G not working ) otherwise it works very well for me. Smoothest and fastest ROM I ever had on this tab.
Any specific stuff you have in mind so I can check?
I did try it quickly with the dock and it seems to work well - I don't use it much so I cannot say if all buttons and functions work.

Agreed. The KatKiss ROM is worth checking out.
I'm having a problem and would greatly appreciate some help or advice on flashing any ROM because I've hit a brick wall.
My TF300T is rooted and unlocked following a tutorial followed a year ago.
At the moment I have Teamwin TWRP v2.5.0.0 and I can only flash one ROM, or at least only one ROM has successfully worked and that is CROMi-X_DEODEX_5.4_Signed.zip
No matter what ROM I download and place onto either my device or Micro SD card all flashing results in a fail.
Any Idea why only the CROMi-X ROM works and nothing else does?
I very much would like to use another ROM as the operating system does not turn the WiFi off when the tablet is closed, causing the battery to fully discharge within 48 hours.
I know that I am going wrong somewhere but I don't have a clue what I am doing wrong.
I can at least confirm that I can flash at least one ROM.
Cheers
CM12 just showed up in the repository ...

I have just flashed Katkiss over the stock ROM and it is perfectly useable. Just a few minor thing to tune in future updates. Worth trying.
