Greetings Fellow Nexus 4's
So I've been on the hunt for a flip case for the Nexus 4 which flips to the left, the only ones I could find that DID flip to the left either:
Doesn't sit flip to the back properly
Doesn't stay closed
So after much searching I found this. The TETDED Premium Leather Flip Case for the Nexus 4 (Link in the bottom of this thread).
It came fairly quickly, was sent with FedEx, and it got delivered in perfect condition (well wrapped).
The linings are great, the texture feels really nice (doesn't feel cheap at all). The bottom feels like it's made of hard plastic with leather wrapped around it, the top is soft leather (you can "squeeze" it), here are some pictures: (Sorry for some of them having insane amounts of noise, my room is fairly dark and they're taken with the camera on my old O2X)
It engulfs the phone perfectly, nothing is exposed.
The camera lens and flash is clearly visible and free (not obstructed)
There's a hole for the speakers. Headphone jack visible and exposed (not obstructed), with this I don't mean it's exposed to damage.
You can plug the charger in while the case is on.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall, very happy with the case, it doesn't feel like it adds bulk to the phone (no issues with putting it into pocket etc.), it feels very secure (not afraid that if I drop the phone it'll shatter into a million pieces), I'd give it 9/10. Not to be a fanboy, but I've been looking for a case like this ever since I got the phone, and this gives me everything I need, it's easy to open with one hand and I can operate the phone with the case flipped all the way back with easy, it doesn't feel like I'm stressing the case, I'm not afraid the phone will spontaneously pop out of the case, the quality is great, the texture is nice and rugged. The only thing I can "point fingers at" is the fact that it's somewhat "hard" (not that hard, just a but harder), to push the volume buttons, but this should self evident as this is a flip case and that's just how they are. Feedback upon the review would also be greatly appreciated.
I'd recommend it to anyone.
This is the case in question:

Kind regards, Neefy
How about when you are in phone call? Does the front flip need to be open when you are in phone call? or we can do the phone call with the front flip closed? And how about the phone call sound? thx
I.. Actually haven't tested it with it closed, I just by default always have it open during calls.

Big thanks before. I just love the case but I wonder if I can do the phone call when it close.
I recently have had an operation in my mouth, so I'm unable to comfortably make a phone call, once I'm all good again I'll be sure to test it out

How is the clasp on the case, the thing on the flap that keeps the flap closed, does it get annoying but mainly is it too tight so it takes extra effort to open it?

It's quite easy to get open (requires very little force) and doesn't open by itself, I've had my case on since the day I got it (the day this thread was created) and it's still fully functional

That's nice to know, i hope the clasp on mine doesn't take much force to open and close either, I'm dreading that might be the case if I get it
Does the case add a lot of bulk to the phone and take the feel of the phone away?
Thanks much for the information you posted about TETDED and especially for the You Tube video of your manipulating one of its cases. Perhaps because I live in the US, I had never heard of this company and am so pleased that a thread I found when researching reviews for cases saw TETDED mentioned. I'm going to order a case today. Thanks, OhioBabs

I was watching the installation video to see the coverage, and it appears that the back, top side and bottom are all separate, and w/it being black on black, it's kind of hard to see what it leaves uncovered. I don't want my phone to look ghetto fabulous, like I just patchworked this on one night after watching a fast & furious marathon drunk w/gaps on every edge.
Anyway, if anyone has, let me know. If not, I'll jump in and try it out and post photos and give my 2 cents.

I've had something similar to this, but it was called PhantomSkinz. I had it on my G2, and myTouch 4G. Both felt great at hand.
Glad to hear from someone that has had something similar. Not like I'm going to need much to twist my arm to get it, but it certainly helps to get feedback.

That's actually one of the benefits of having all the pieces separate, the piece that would cover the metal strip is separate. I agree with you, but I plan to keep the metal strip shown, even if I have to use an exacto knife to make it happen.

I agree... And upon taking your advise, I just bought a 12"x48" sheet of it from ebay. I worked w/vinyl for several years, from custom applications made in-house to pre made applications, so I'm comfortable w/the whole process. The saddest part is, w/o your input, I probably never would've thought of it on my own!
I'm excited, now I can make it fit how I want! PLUS, it was less and I have enough, that I can customize friends phones if they like the look of it... For a modest price of course. <hehhehhehhehheh>

absolutely. i'm interested too! enuff of this "carbon look" and "carbon feel" and "carbon printed" and "leather stitched to look like carbon"; i want the REAL deal (to match my car and bike, my money clip, my well, you get the point lol)... and would prefer it to be a hard rubber case with that around it (guess i could buy a black case that i want and wrap that instead too); but keep us updated and lemme know if you'd wanna make another to sell if it works out or have "extra materials" looking forward to the pics! good luck!

Doesn't it look like the Otterbox Defender?
At first looks cool, but then after a close look it kind of makes the phone look bulky
Looks exactly like what the Defender would be but Otterbox hasn't released a Defender for our Sensation. I wonder if these are from a batch of prototypes Otterbox had produced but decided not to market? I would love to hear from anyone who tries this. I might take the plunge myself as a matter of fact.

The Otterbox Defender is one of the most popular tough cases for any device. Unfortunately it isn't made for the Sensation but this looks exactly like what it would be if it were actually made.

Mine arrived this morning.
I had a Defender for my iPhone, which saved it a couple of times (mainly from beer spillage) so I wanted something similar and this appears to be the only option until a more established manufacturer pulls their finger out!
So, here are my thoughts on it.....
Overall:
Build quality is very middle of the road, ergonomics need working on, but for the price it does the trick.
Inner case:
The inner plastic case is snug and feels robust enough to withstand the odd drop (not as tough as O/box plastic tho..). It clips on and off easily enough, but not so easy as to make me concerned. All the holes are there and they are where they should be.
However, there is a serious - yet workable - design flaw with the "built-in" screen protector. It comes glued to the inner case, which is great, but in order to remove the protective plastic film on either side of it, you have to prise it off and then stick it back on once you've removed the film. Luckily the glue they use is extra crappy, so it's quite easy to un-stick. To re-glue the screen protector back on, I just used tiny amounts of superglue gel, applied with a pin head. Unfortunately tho, this means that the front face of the phone is not sealed and therefore not splash or dust proof.
Outer case:
The outer silicone is not of a good quality. It's very thin and floppy and I predict it would lose it's shape and possibly tear if it were pulled about too much. This is both unfortunate and ironic as it takes a lot of pulling and poking to get it to fit around the inner case. Once you've got it on properly, it's fine - it's just a bit of a mission to get it snug and flush. However, the biggest design flaw with the outer case, is that the headphone and usb port covers do not stay shut - or rather they open very easily. There is no "wedge" mechanism on the doors to ensure they hold in place. This is particular annoying as they flap open if your fingers brush past them when you are holding the phone. In order to rectify this, I have used a tiny bit of blu-tack (don't know what the US equivalent of it is, sorry) on the inside of the cover doors so they stay shut. One other thing... my particular model has what looks like a small cigarette burn on it, but I guess that's just my bad luck there!
Conclusion:
Obviously, I realise that this is not a O/box, or any other decent case brand for that matter, so I can't be too harsh on it, especially at the price I paid ($17.95/ £11.50). At the end of the day, it's an (almost fully) encapsulating case which will give my Senny more protection than most other options available, at least until someone makes a better alternative.
No, it doesn't look like the coolest case on the block, but that's not what I have my phone for, so I'm not too concerned about aesthetics. What matters to me is that it works.... and it does (almost lol!).
Hope this was useful. If anyone has had any differing experiences with this case, I'd be very interested to hear about them.
Cheers,
Similar to Nillkin but I like the color more:

KLD Product Info said the Case is made by thin cast aluminum (Photo ~ Line B),
Can you please check out for us if it's true...?
I guess Wireless Charging & NFC Signal will be blocked by the aluminum.
How do you like the fitting?
Will it scratch the phone when install, take out..?
Thanks...!

I heard the buttons are hard to access with the nillken case. Could you please tell us how does it feels with this one?
I am currently looking for a flip case too, and the best up to now seemed to be the nillken, even with that flaw, so if this one do not have the same flaw, I guess I have a winner

I think this is the best feature of the Google bumper. It incorporates keypressers so pressing the buttons is not as difficult as cases that have simple cutouts. Would love to see a flip case with buttons similar to the stock bumper.
So, elty123, 10 days since you started this thread. Have you already received your order? We want some insights!
Does anyone have this case yet? I'm thinking of getting the pink one, not many femine covers out for this phone yet.
Still waiting for this case. Not sure if this will work from wireless charger, but my HP Touchpad works with the Touchstone even with a case on. This should be similar I guess.
Finally got the red case. build quality is pretty good, and it is nice to touch. However, it doesn't really look like leather - more like.texture plastic. I think It would look better if it is not a bright peachy red.
I don't know if there is a thin cast aluminum inside, however the cover is pretty sturdy. It also doesn't seems to lower reception strength when the case is opened. I have no wireless charger to test.

So it's not more of a fuchsia or a hot pink? That's a relief, I liked that one. Many of these product photos use really bright light and make the colors brighter than pictured in everyday light.

What can you say about the cuts to access the buttons? I heard they are quite narrow in the Nilkin case, making it a bit hard to press them.
And this is the first flip cover I use, and sometimes the cover doesn't close completely.... is it a problem for other flip cover?

Yep, pretty common.
The cut is not very clean (some residual plastic). Pressing the power is ok but the volume is a bit harder, probably because of the spine.
The texture of the cover is the same as the picture... just that it is a bit more shiny than I thought.
Also closing the cover seems to reduce signal strength by a few dBm. I can't really tell because the signal strength fluctuate a lot here, even without any case.
I ordered this case because it looks realllllly nice. I chose this over the nillkin because I wanted it in brown.

The Nexus 5 is also built out of plastic and glass, and Duarte isn't apologizing for the former. "It's not cheap plastic," he says, pointing out that Google actually machines and lasers it to give it more precise lines after it comes out of its mold. "This is hardcore plastic."
Compared to Samsungs cheap ass plastic
Thank God. I love the feel of the phone without a case. Excellent build quality.

Naked white for 2 months. No problems.
Until you drop it. A very unlucky slip from ~1.5ft smack on the edge of a glass table by someone who is usually VERY careful with his stuff (that would be me).
But I agree, it does have a very nice feel to it. Too bad it's so fragile.

The risks of going with no case. I've dropped mine in it's case a few times now, at least one of them would've broken it with no protection. There are quite a few posts of people who dropped it and now use a case on their paid replacements.
I was extremely lucky. The damage turned out to be only cosmetic. Rocking a Cruzerlite case now. The great irony in my case (no pun intended) is that my drop happened when I was 'in between' cases. I had just returned one and the new one was to be delivered the next day. **** happens...
I've also had the white one for almost a month now.
I've got two cases: The official Red one (that costs an arm and a leg) but couldn't get on with it. Too stiff, made the phone feel too large and the buttons need a lot of force to activate, I found unlocking the device I needed two hands for in the end.
I ended up buying a second S-Line case, also in red which is less opaque (I can see the branding through the reverse) and my phone feels much nicer in this one. Buttons are easy to use now, and it still feel excellent protected.
I did have a screen-protector for a while, but haven't found one that I like as much as I did on my old Galaxy S3, everything seems too dim with one on.

The white back does not get dirty easily. Its smoother then the black finish and doesn't show fingerprints, the glossy sides can however.

Sorry for replying to such an old quote, I hadn't noticed I'd been quoted. My white part is still pristine.

Also: it's difficult taking pictures of your phone with your phone, without flash... Apologies for the naff picture
I received my POETIC Affinity Series Premium Thin Fit case in the mail today. The case was packaged well and was received very shortly after I got my tracking number. I must say the buttons have a good feel to them when pressed using this case. I can feel the bottons and know when they are pressed. This is important to me. It is a lot better than the MoKo clear case I purchased recently. This case provides good protection all around which includes the back, 4 sides and front (small lip to protect the screen). The thin polycarbonate Spigen case I am currently use does not cover the top (headphone jack) or the bottom (the charging port) section of the phone. The 4 corners of this Poetic case has some additional protection from what I can see. It should help against some minor drops. The back is polycarbonate and the sides are TPU.
I also removed the cover a few times and noticed it did not scratch my phone which is awesome. The case can be easily removed if you want to clean the phone. This is important because I have owned other cases where I was scared to remove it. No one should fee this way.
I also slid the phone in and out of my jean pocket without any issues. I have used many different cases in the past and have found some to be very difficult to pull out of your pocket.
There are a two raised lines on the back of the phone which help prevent it from sliding around. I placed it on top of my laptop lid and began to open it. The phone did not slide off which was neat. I assume it will help keep the phone from getting scratched when placed on a rough surface. Ever placed your phone on the ground to tie your shoes?
Overall, I enjoy using this case. I recommend it to anyone who wants extra protection without the bulkiness. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

wondering if I should get this in white or black. I have a graphite nexus so would the black stripes look bad? and I have two clear cases so I'm wondering if I should get another with the frost white. wish someone had photos with the graphite nexus 6p.

I believe I said this in another thread, but couldn't they put their P anywhere else like above the S or below the N?
I got the clear, black one. It's the perfect case with that one blemish mentioned above.
Another review of the black case.
Things I like:
1. The grip on the sides and back while still remaining thin.
2. The black accents on the graphite phone.
3. Button response
4. Cutouts that work
5. Fit finish and build quality.
6. Raised area around the camera
Things I don't like:
1. Too many "tramp stamps". Is there a need for three places of branding.
The "P" on the rear covers the "NEXUS" text. Not cool. The other two I can live with.
2. I would prefer the FP sensor cutout to be smaller.
Overall I like the case and I'll use it as a daily driver for a while.
I have this case with my carbon fiber warp from slickwarp.

Hi guys,
Our production team is working on a new and improved version of the case by raising the "P" so it won't block the beauty of the Nexus brand as well as removing the 'affinity' on the side. Hope that helps. For those who received a case from us - we will be happy to send a new and improved version Please PM us or email us at [email protected]
Cheers!

If we purchased through Amazon should we contact you there or through the email you've provided?
Mine just came in and it looks and feels fantastic. Could do without the extra branding so I'll be contacting Poetic to get the revised version when it is released.
good combo on the frost:good: my main concern is protection as im pretty prone to dropping my phones lol, so could u plz update on how it has held on till now, and how good is it at actually protecting the phone.
Sorry but... these are ugly, inelegant and cheap-looking. Why mar such an elegant, refined device like the 6p with a case for teenagers? Companies really need to move away from selling stuff like this. It looks like a UAG knock-off -- and UAG's are ugly monstrosities.
But, you know, different strokes for different folks. Live and let live and all that. Nice is such a broad term.
I hate to revive a dead thread, but I just wanted to drop my concerns in case anyone decides to buy or try a different case in the future. This case caught my eye since I am rocking the gold 6P. I ordered the clear Affinity case and at first, I was very pleased. After using it for approximately a month, I have noticed my phone wobbles a bit with this case on. Looking at the case on my 6P, I realized that the Affinity is about 1-2 mm taller than the actual phone... like there is a noticeable gap between my phone and the inside of the top of the case. This 1-2mm space is the cause of the case moving somewhat when on my 6P. The price is great for this case, but honestly, I would not recommend this case to anyone. I've also just noticed that the case somehow managed to get the NEXUS wording either burned into the case or somehow imprinted on the case. Maybe I just got a lemon, but this is a horrid case.
