I have tried porting things before, and I failed at it. If you want to try the above link is a windows porting tool. I just can't seem to get a booting port. :/

Maybe the beast or TFQ can start a porting class workshop...

Looks like for Vibrant, which could be easier ported to our phone. Here is a link how to port from Vibrant roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099454

I tried it. Couldn't get it to work. Like every step, there is an issue. Rather do it manually.

Okay. Just thought it would be helpful to someone.

Yeah, didn't work for me either, but I'm on froyo, though it would work with Gingerbread.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
It won't work on GB, you need qmg files. If you are on froyo you might be able to push the files, just remember to back up your old files if it doesn't work.

[Q] how do you port a rom

i know this is the uber development place, but i have searched and googled, basic question, i see the i9000 roms, how, in simple terms, do you have a bot "build" the source for the infuse 4G, are their any instructions or a site that i can read up on this?
Thanks

No problemo dman. I think I may be getting some extra time on my hands and may be able to give back a little. Last time I tried a bunch of crap came up, but I think I'll be good this time.

Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda app-developers app
Go to http://source.android.com/source/initializing.html you'll need ubuntu to build, but you can still keep windows by dual booting. Hell, you might even keep ubuntu cause it's very pretty. Well, anyway like I said, I was already building CM9, but didn't know how to target it out to the Blaze.

Need help decompiling framework.jar

I'm trying to port a rom and in order to get it to boot I need to decompile framework.jar but I have no idea how to install apktool in order to do this, so how do you do it?
BTW I'm on Ubuntu 13.04, that's probably why it's difficult.
