Nope, never seen this before -- I do have some "fluid-like" sheen when ushing on the screen with some force (especially on lighter backgrounds), but that can only be seen with the unit turned on.
Off-topic: I would like to request you to not double-post. It is generally frowned upon -- not only because it clutters the forum but since it splits up the answers to your question in two different places. That makes it harder to see what has been taken up and what is let to b answered and/or amended. Just ask once, and if we know the answer or can help out in some other fashion, we'll get in here. Thanks.

that definitely looks like a warranty covered issue, i'd guess that there's a bad adhesive seal between the screen layers.

It looks like mold. :S I thought they used clear (that is, transparant and colorless) glues for that?

I have this on occasion, but always on the outside of my screen. Never on the inside.
If it's on the inside, send it back.

White residue on the outside and not the inside: not chlamydia. You'll be fine with a simple scrub-down.
Sorry, I'm on shift in the hospital, couldn't withstand the opportunity. I'll scurry off now.

Hehe I misread this part at first as you saying there are water damage spots on the phone. In your final advertisement you might want to reword that a bit. Maybe say something like, "The test strips that are used to indicate water damage show that there is no water damage."

Or just don't mention it at all lol. When you're selling a car you don't put "Never been flooded!" in the ad. Just raises suspicion.

Odd, I cant seem too PM you. I would be interested. Let me know
Keep the pics of the litmus strips. I bought five phones off craigslist and ebay. If someone went to trouble to prove to me that there were no problems with the phone, I paid more for those than ones with a few pics and little description.
When selling on the internet, the more pics you have the better. A person buys something in the store after holding it and thoroughly looking into it. Tutu have to recreate that. Be honest and show it all.
From a phone
Well feel free to pass this on to anyone you know that may be interested. Like I said, I can get more pics if needed. As soon as I have enough posts, I'll put a thread in the marketplace as well.
Case is no longer with the phone. Still not enough posts to get into the marketplace.
Hmmmm, I could use a developing phone?

Lint in speaker grill

Anyone else already getting lint accumulation and know of a good way to get it out?
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt using Tapatalk
Really? Come on. Use your common sense.
Have you considered compressed air? It's commonly the most popular way to get dust off of electronics... I always have a can or two for clearing out the dust in my computers or occasionally a laptop if i take one apart (no reason not to clean at the same time).
Hope that helps.
you should prob. clean your pockets out too while your at it lol
Vacuum it out. :]

I've always been more of a book smart kind of guy. Not so much street smart/common sense smart, lol.
And its not a ton of lint, just a couple little pieces stuck in the grill. I'm going to try some double sided tape.

Wouldn't regular tape work? You weren't kidding when you said you didn't have common sense.
I haven't noticed this problem though.
Wow! I am shocked by how rude everyone is about a simple question.
So much for turning to the community for answers these days.... if you ask something "stupid" or "obvious" you get grilled for it.
It used to be that people either said something helpful or moved along if they had nothing to contribute to the thread. Now everyone has their little online egos and feels like putting someone down makes them look like a hardass.
My pockets are clean and I have also noticed dust specs in the rear speaker (under kick stand). Go ahead... crucify me now!
Agreed. The way these things work is everyone working together to help each other out, anybody from devs to newbies. We all have our strong points, so you can share your knowledge, or just do your self a favor and move on. Let me know what works best for you!
P.S my pockets are clean too

You are 100% right. I don't know what it is about this forum section but the N1 area was nothing like this. There are a few really rude people in this area and imo mods may have to start cracking down. I've questioned my Thunderbolt purchase several times just based on the other people who have bought it...not sure I want to be a member of this group.

i've owned more touch screen phones than I can count. None of them ended up with broken screens. My first sk4g screen cracked in my empty pocket and my second ones screen went complete fuzzy while browsing never to work again. The screen clearly isn't mean to last.

So, get a new phone that is built to last and learn to count higher.
This is easily the biggest waste of server space I have ever seen.

I was rather dissappointed when I learned this phone would not include Gorilla Glass or even any type of fancy glass so as to protect it from breaking.
That being said, however, it's not difficult to purchase a case/protector on Amazon. Hell, I just bought 4 for less than $30.
I think this posted thread is completely useless, and could have easily just been a unwanted, uncared for and opinionative comment on a post that definitly already exists.
I also think the post should be moderated and removed.
As for your phone, either you have bad luck or need to care for your belongings better.

Where do people get the idea that gorilla glass is indestructible? If you apply focused pressure on a small area, it will indeed break. It is not magical.

Dead pixels spreading

It seems as though I have a growing number of dead pixels localized to the bottom/middle center of the screen. At first, there was randomly 10 or so that went out today for whatever reason, in a straight line. Now there is at least 5 more, and it seems to be starting to branch out. This has originally appeared and grew in the past 24 hours.
I'm not sure how this happened suddenly, and why it happened so fast. Also, not really sure why it's growing, as I'm not doing anything different than before the dead pixels.
Is there anything I can do? I am past warranty. I can provide pictures if needed, but I am positive that they are dead pixels.
Sent from my MB865 using xda app-developers app
Maybe you're doing something that kills the pixels.
For example, are you undergoing a dry or wet?

Like, as in seasons? No, it's pretty temperate and average here, with normal precipitation, so I doubt it's humidity. Also, I have a otter box around it, and a screen protector, so even if something were to be spilled (I'm very safe with my phone, though), it wouldn't get in.
A few more pixels died today, so now it looks like a 2x10 pixel block with a small branch or two.

Look at Fall of Enosis' stickied guide in the General Section as to how to go about replacing the screen/digitizer. This may be your answer...

I do apologize for all of my stupid questions. This is my first Android phone, and I am not used to XDA's structure compared to other message boards I have been a contributor of. So I apologize that I am not carrying my own weight yet, but I hope to get more used to this place and Android development so I can help others.
This is going to sound more stupid, but the dead pixels disappeared. I consulted other people who confirmed that they were dead pixels, but I guess the issue resolved itself? A magnifying glass could have confirmed the dead pixels, but I'm not sure why this was just a temporary issue. Just adding this for reference, in case somebody else gets scared, to wait a week or two, and the issue might resolve itself.
Thanks for the help.
If you're referring to the mobile app signature in the bold text under my comment, that was in no way intended to be taken personally or seriously, but more for a joke geared for someone else (a moderator) who's not even in these forums. So, don't sweat the small stuff around here, and please don't feel I was trying to be insulting. My apologies to you if you found it as such.
I'm glad you seem to have things worked out, and hopefully this issue with the pixels won't happen again. I can imagine the frustration, so it's a good thing that this just cleared up all on its own - literally- and there wasn't a need to worry over having to replace hardware elements...

Dust under glass

Hey,
How the hell do the dust particles get under the glass? I had one when i bought my tab 2 weeks ago. I count 6 now... will banging it get it to shift?

I wouldn't count on it, since the 'stickiness' is probably due to electrostatic charge. You might try wiping the screen with a damp cloth -- that fixed it on older monitor I had -- but if there is a separate layer underneath (which is entirely possible, and even probable, in nowadays' displays) you're basically scre*ed.
Judging from your location, a little dust might be expected, but two weeks is a little too fast. Obviously, there's an opening somewhere. You might want to try and find it, and shut it.

If you bought it two weeks ago, and its truly under the glass (try a bit of water when cleaning if you haven't), then return it for a new one.

Wow, yo useem to be irritated fairly easily, my friend. Nowhere do you read any mocking, except for what you want to read into.
1) I do not know if the TF700's display is a layered display, so I do not know if there's only a glass layer to take into account (you could open it up and clean it yourself, if you're handy) or a base layer of some poymer which would retain dust particles probably beyond your (or my, before you feel "mocked again") capacity to clean it.
2) Since you (or I, before you feel "mocked again") do not know what "underneath" means in the physical sense -- see point 1 -- this is a too vague statement.
3) It states "Johannesburg" in your avatar space -- while it is not the Sahara, I would think it is more dusty than where, say, I live. Don't feel mocked again, though.
Again, before you accuse me, at least make sure you have an adequate command of the English language and please refrain from reading "into" racist comments (that's what I sense if I "read into" yours). I do not care where you're from, what you may or may not believe in, or what the color of your skin is, but the 3rd point of your reply I find in need of more ridicule than I can provide after a work shift. If you want to accuse me of something, please try and get something better than this.

Did you know, there is this absolutely miraculous thing. It comes in sizes ranging from thick to dusty, and is made up of tiny grains of glass! A most peculiar phenomenon!
People call it 'sand'.
Commonly found in dry arid areas. Like, say... Oh, I know! Johannesburg!
