[Q] [Not Working] USB Mass Storage and ADB - Micromax A110

Hello friends, I am facing a problem with USB Mass storage. Please find the case as below.
Previously when I used to connect my phone with my laptop, it used to show a pop-up notification on either I wish to enable USB mass storage mode or just wish to have my phone on charging only. USB debugging was also working like a charm during those days.
Now, from last two days (suddenly) none of the computers (i have tried on almost 10 different laptops) is recognizing my phone. Though this is the problem, it gets charged over USB without any problems.
Could someone of you please help with your expert knowledge??? I have tried downloading certain applications from Play Store also but no luck at all.
In furtherance to this, please note that I clicked on "format/emmc" while installing one of the custom ROMs through CWM recovery before two days and i suspect that this could have caused a problem.
Please help.

Buddy,
Formatting EMMC is just like formatting SD card and EMMC is Internal SD card.
Do one thing backup all your data and then reboot in recovery and there you will find the options:-
Mount & Storage --> Mount USB Storage.
First connect your phone to USB and to the laptop then do the above said if its connected then its working and you only have to clear the defaults of the USB application.
If its not working then try other rom with proper guidance of flashing given by the OP.
Hit Thanks Instead of Saying It.....

Problem with ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.4 (USB Not Recognnized)

I wiped and cleared everything (cache, SD Card...) from the settings in order to install the new Ice Cream rom which I got working but then wanted to clean everything up. So obviously after doing the formats, it also wiped the zip (icecream). I can access clock work recovery, but it doesn't recognize my USB at all, same machine and cable is fine. I am trying to do it as a USB Mass Storage device but still it cannot recognize it. Any help would me much appreciated.

I'm not sure if you mean SD storage and not USB but you should have never formatted your SD storage.
In clockworkmod recovery there is an option to mount the SD storage. Make sure its mounted and then try activating the USB storage again. This should give you the ability to add a ROM zip file on the SD storage so you can flash it.
Thanks for the reply. Basically I am in clockwork recovery mode, I mount the SDCARD, then I go and select the option "mount USB storage". Sometimes I find that it finds Android 1.0 and I see the I: come up but then goes away quite quickly. But most of the time it comes up as unrecognized.
Now I have 2 cables, both which charge the phone fine. I have used one on a BlackBerry and remember it does the job of connecting as a data connection fine. Also have tried my XP laptop, same result.
My feeling is that it may possibly be the actual USB port on the phone that is the problem but I am unsure in this. It never failed to connect when the phone was working properly (in an actual OS).
You should update your CWM... 5.0.2.0 is the latest version.
But anyway, you don't need to mount SD card then mount USB storage. Only need to do the latest. Once you do this, unplug and replug the phone, the drive should pop up.

When I go into clock work recovery it says USB device Unrecognized. Problem is I don't have anything on the SD I have the ROM on my computer. Whether I go to the mount USB storage menu or not. Unsure what to do?

I imagine you don't have a working adb setup on your computer to update CWM, right?
Boot into CWM with phone plugged in. Go to mount USB storage. If your "SD" isn't recognized, still on that screen, unplug and replug phone. It should get detected then.
Tried this several times keep getting Unknown Device. I installed the SDK with Google Drivers. Unsure if that is the ADB set up.

Yes that's the adb setup.
You might need to manually install the drivers for your phone, although this shouldn't impact on the SD mounting capabilities. Just to make sure, I would get a working adb setup and use fastboot to update your Clockworkmod Recovery to 5.0.2.0.
You can follow this to know how to use fastboot

If you have trouble getting your phone to be detected and the drivers installed, I suggest you use PDAnet drivers instead (if you're under Windows). Some phones for some reason need .inf driver hacking to get detected.

I will give this a go many thanks.

Just to let you know, I am trying to access USB Storage from clockwork recovery since I don't have any rom on here at all.
This may sound weird but I held the USB in the phone port in an angle, luckily the removable drive came up. I got the the ROM on the SD it has installed and loading. I'll see if its an issue with the USB on the phone later on but as long as it got back up and running (Ice Cream) for now.
Anyway thanks guys much appreciated. I'll be a lot more careful next time before I go around wiping everything especially the SD LOL.

I gathered this much from your posts.
Edit: Glad you got it working. Make sure you get CWM updated whenever you can if you haven't done so, this could lead to problems down the road to flash different zips.

I'll do that next time I get a chance, I thought my phone was gone there for sure. Thanks again.

The Nexus S is a difficult phone to brick, luckily. Most of the rooting, bootloader unlocking and flashing steps are easy to follow too.
No problem!

Mount phone as USB storage via USB

Hi,
I got my TF300 today and tried to connect my Nexus S to it to transfer some data but it does not get recognized by the Tablet. If I connect it to the dock's USB port nothing happens. Is there a way to make this work? Bluetooth is damn slow for transfering greater files...
Edit: Found a workaround. It works when you boot your phone into clockwork recovery and choose the option mount as USB mass storage. Its not the ideal way, but it works.
Is there another method to get my phone mounted?

Root stops working

Hey there. I'm having a weird problem that keeps on happening.
I'm on GingerSnap v2.3 rom and this has happened twice by now. When I connect my device to my PC via USB to move data to my SD card the root seems to "stop working".
Suddenly all apps that require root access stop working. I open the apps I get the little toast message saying that the superuses access has been granted but the apps don't get it. For example, on root Explorer I get the toast but then the app says it has to Restart because it doesn't have root access.
The Log on the superuser app says that they are getting it but still they do not work. Plus BusyBox seems to not work either, if I remove the root access to any app to try to Regrant the permissions the app gets stuck on "requesting root access" until they eventually crash
The first time it happened the only solution I could think of that worked was Reflashing and losing all my apps since Titanium BU is not working I can't back anything up
Please help! I don't want to Flash the rom again! :banghead::banghead::banghead:
EDIT:
Right after posting this, i remember disabling the USB debugging option on the settings. So i enabled the setting. Connected the USB as a mass storage unit (so it would deactivate the SD card) and then turned it off so It would load my SD card again (just in case that plus the lack of debugging was causing the glitch) and it started working
I don't know if this is an issue with this rom only but apparently you cant disable the USB debugging. Also I don't know if the thing with the SD card and mounting it as a mass storage unit was also part of the problem but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case.
I feel pretty dumb by opening a thread and then minutes later finding the solution myself. But I hope it at least can help someone else if they find the same issue.

it happned to me, but it was a little differet, all apps with root ware giving me messege that it stoped working, and after I fixed permissions from recovery it worked, but remember, only from recovery, and usb debugging was allways enabled

On disabling USB debugging and restarting the phone the SuperUser app stopped working for me. But these steps above are working out for me too!
Does anyone know whether I need to keep USB debugging enabled forever? Is there anything else I can do? Like maybe install SuperSU maybe?
I decided to just turn off the USB debugging notification. Not sure if it can be done on every Android but I'm on CM7.2 and it can be disabled

[Q] How restore data from formatted \sdcard?

Hi,
Yesterday evening i broke the display of my MI4 and i ordered one from ebay.
I tried to buckup all the data connecting the phone to the computer through MTP but after few minutes the copy stopped with an error and wasn't possible to start again the copy.
I tried to restart the phone and once booted the \sdcard was completely empty! :crying:
What can i do to restore all my data?
it's not possible to connect the internal storage as mass storege due a miui bug, so what is your suggestion??
Thanks a lot.

Hope this helps
It might not be really empty, just MTP gone off from phone side.
Have you enabled developer options and android debugging?
