Make sure to follow the instructions to the letter. Double check you'll be doing each step correctly before going through the process. I read through the post several times before I felt comfortable going for it, and still ran into problems. I seem to remember getting it stuck after using system switcher in the jelly bean rom to go back to the gingerbread rom. If this is your issue, make sure your boot1.img is set up correctly and try reflashing in cwm. If this is not your issue, please elaborate about what's going on and what you did to get to where you are.

My device was working just fine in the A.M. as I flashed from Genesis (ICS) back to Lezo OS (GB) over to Joy OS (also GB). When I tried to restore a backup of my Genesis ROM I was more than delighted to see that upon trying to reboot I was unable to boot out of recovery. Now I've done everything in the linked post up to about step 10 where I kinda get stuck. I run the Flash but get nothing. At this point I'm just hoping for a Solid solution. Someone PLEASE assist

Try this way. Anytime I soft brick my G2x, this is how I rebuild it.
You'll need that ROM you got from previous thread, I do believe.
It will push a fresh recovery, than you can just go back to flashing the ROM.

If you had read the OP, you can't go directly to JB, you have to be on ICS, then flash JB.
Which option did you use from that page? I've used "I997UCLB3-root.rar" many times. But sometimes it gets stuck and I have to pull the usb cable and start over.
So, use I997UCLB3-root.rar, to go back to stock GB. Then flash an ICS rom, reboot. Then flash a JB rom.

Flashing JB is a big leap. Some reading, specially when you are new, could have saved you the trouble. But well, now is time to learn the hard way.
Download any uclb3 back to stock pack, either Odin or heimdall. Put your phone in download mode:
1) take out battery and place it back.
2) while holding vol + & - , connect your phone with a usb cable already inserted into the Pc.
Once in download mode, see if your phone is detected by odin or heimdall. If not you may need to install the drivers.
When all is ready, hit start.
*you probably don't have GB bootloaders. That will cause rainbows in your recovery when flashing ics and jb. If you feel you cant live with them, you will need to flash them.*
To flash jellybean, 1st flash any ics rom following directions coming from GB in the OP. Once you have blue recovery, flash JB with the directions in the rom OP.

As others mentioned, you first need to install an ICS ROM, like CM9 or Uniporn. The first time you flash you will prob get stuck in a boot loop and will need to use the three finger method to get back to recovery. In case you don't know what that means, you hold the volume keys and power button to turn phone on and then release only the power button when the Samsung logo shows. When u get back to recovery, flash the same ROM a second time and then it will boot.
You will now have blue recovery so you can flash the jb ROM of choice by following the method in the OP for that ROM. Remember to pull out the external sdcard if you have one.
Also, as others have mentioned, you may not have GB bootloaders. To get them, go to the "ISET infuse everything thread" which is stickied in the dev section. You will find Odin and Heimdall packages which have the bootloaders there. Be very careful when installing bootloaders (test usb with a kernel or something less dangerous first) bc if it fails while trying to flash the bootloaders, it can hard brick your phone. And then thank bigjoe for putting together the ISET thread so all infuse users can find everything we need in one place.

I think if you don't know what "that" means...it means you have not read anything you probably need to read on this forum. and probably should not even be thinking about JB let alone trying to flash it.
No slight on you benbos_06, I thought it was funny reading uninformed posts about "rainbow colors" in their their recovery a few months ago...now it's almost kind of sad to see the uninformed trying to go JB...and needing double flash and 3 finger to recovery detailed in step by step instructions. Jeeze!!! That's a little scary.

[Q] Want to upgrade to latest Jellybean?

Hi,
I am new to this, my infuse is running stock everything. Firmware 2.3.6, build number: Gingerbread UCKL2.
I would like to upgrade to the latest Jellybean version. I tried to read all tutorials but cant make heads or tails. I was hoping someone could walk me through it all step by step. maybe by messenger or email?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Okay, first you need to get yourself a cwm recovery.
To do that, flash Entropy's dd kernel.
Qkster has a heimdall one-click which you can use to flash it in download mode.
You will probably also need the GB bootloaders. Qkster also has one for that.
Now you just flash ICS, then a JB rom and you should be done.
There's a guide on my signature which explains all this step by step, with links and everything. I suggest you take a look at it.

OK, after following the "[GUIDE] How to flash JB " on andros11 signature, on the install I) GB to ICS, I used method B. After step 2 in method B, when do I do step 3? It is sitting at title screen that shows, "Galaxy S cyanogen(mod). I did the step 3 then and selected boot recovery, and it just stays on the "Galaxy S cyanogen(mod)" screen. Is it frozen? What did I do wrong?
PLEASE HELP
Yea, it is supposed to hang at that screen.
Take out the battery and boot into recovery with the 3 finger combo (hold both volume buttons and the power button, and let go of power once the samsung logo pops up

So how long is it suppose to hang like that? Minutes, hour?
Also when in recovery it say on bottom of screen(log I guess) cache couldn't mount?
It hangs because you now have an ICS kernel with a GB system, so it won't boot.
If you do the 3-finger combo correctly it should boot to the recovery. Now you just need to flash a JB Rom and the corresponding gapps
Hi all,
I had a rooted GB 2.3.6 done with the Odin method here and I just upgraded to ICS and CM9 via the Entropy and everything worked ok, including making phone calls.
Then I went ahead and installed SlimBean 3.0/SlimGapps and I seem to be unable to make phone calls because it says Broadband version: Unknown. I'm now on JB 4.2.2 on SGH-1997
I am on Samsung Infuse 4G with ATT and I am not sure how to restore my mobile radio network. Can someone help me how to restore my phone calling feature and HSPA+ data network? Do I need to flash something?
Thanks,
Fanirama, try flashing cm10. That usually restores the IMEI.
Then flash back to slim and hopefully you'll be good

Great! That did the trick... I flashed CM10.1 and IMEI is back along with everything else.
Maybe I'll stick with CM10 for sometime and see how it goes. I kinda preferred Slimrom from what I saw of it - it was very zippy, very polished with very few bugs from limited testing I did on main features.
Sadly in all this fiasco, I lost all my contacts which is a major bummer. Hopefully Titanium Backup which I did kept my contacts.
Thank you very much for your help. I was planning on flashing Carbon next but I think CM was a better suggestion.
Can I upgrade my wifes Samsung i897(captivate) with the same stuff as I did with Infuse. Is it upgradable to JB?
Nope.. You'll want to visit the captivate forums to see what is available. Many good devs over there.

[Q] Stuck on CWM Recovery Everytime

Hello everyone,
It's my first time witnessing this issue, I do have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. So I decided to upgraded Eclairs to Gingerbread. Which I did.
Somehow I downloaded the CM7 ROM in the SGS 4G section, I have flashed it and now everytime I click "reboot system now", it's just putting me back to CWM Recovery over and over again. Now I got tired of it, so I tried flashing the SlimBean in hopes of making my device work the way they should, but it's the same result. When I cleared data, flashed the ROM and Gapps and when I click "reboot system now", It shows the boot screen but then it transferred me back to recovery. I don't really know what to do.
Urgent help needed. Thank you all.

Yes I can, also tried it with CM9, same results it shows recovery everytime. I need some help. :crying:
You say you went from Eclair (Did this phone even come with that? I thought it started with Froyo. Huh. At least, mine did.) to Gingerbread. Is the Gingerbread you started with CM7, or did you start with one that actually has normal GB bootloaders first? Because if you haven't yet, as with any major bootlooping issue, you'll want to use a proper GB one-click. If you failed to double-flash one of those to get the GB bootloaders earlier, do that ASAP. And hope hard that they come.
You are missing the boot loader if you went straight to Gingerbread. Use Heimdall One Click to flash to Gingerbread. Also click on the bootloader option as well when you flash.

Start at the beginning. When you rooted your phone what ROM/build were you on? Stock? What Recovery are you running? Did you make a backup? In my experience, you usually get a system 7 error when the download is bad, (did you check the MD5?) or if you're trying to flash a ROM that doesn't match your current system (IE: trying to flash a JB ROM when you're currently on ICS.)
The more info we have, the better we can help you.

Uh status 7 is assert protection so its a mismatch usually in device info typically model numbers, and has nothing to do with bad downloads.

I had a stock rom on it and found a youtube video referencing the how to guide in this forum, walked everything through step by step but didn't do the twrp thing, only odin . Tried it, didn't work. Didn't checkthe MD5 as it wasnt referenced in the video (have since seen it in the thread).

hahaha thanks
Got it working, used TWRP to flash the latest RC CM 10.1
Got it all going now after a minor heart attack and a few more grey hairs. Just gotta figure out why the wifi isn't working at all now. Can't get it to turn on.
Your original 'system error 7' problem was most likely caused by trying to flash a newer ROM with an older version of CWM or TWRP. Glad you got the phone up, can't help you with the wifi problem, sorry. Although, what modem did you flash, if any? System Settings -> About phone -> Baseband version?

I flashed the UXUMA7 radio, didnt really do much, it worked before.
Still can't figure out the Wifi though :-/ just straight up won't turn on.
If you are on a newer CM 10.1 , the only supported radio is UCMC1, UXUMA7 is really old. That may be why wifi is not working.
UXUMA7 and UCMC1 are very similar. First one is the Rogers and second is att's release which is usually late by a month or so after rogers. Bottom line both will work.
Have your radiofile.zip, cm10.1.zip, and gapps from 20130301 all on your SD card.
Do you have a back up, nandroid? If not do it now.
Go to recovery and Clean up well:
Go to mounts and format data, system, cach twice or three times. Go to advanced and clean dalvik cache. Don't reboot
Now installing in this order:
- radio
-cm10.1
-gapps
Now reboot your phone.
Wait until it is finished and leave it untouched for 10 minutes to settle down and do its thing.
Then turn it off back on and enjoy.
Your noob status will start to fade if you do a clean install
