Horrible network issue on AOKP/CM roms? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

My one X on sense rom is great with network, wifi connect instantly, no problems.
However when I flash AOKP roms (roms that i prefer, so much faster) it has network problems.
When i'm at home, it seem fine. but during travel it can't keep up tracking network. I would lose data signal and sometime cell signals as well.
I thought it was my phone, I went thru 3 One x already and all the same
I flashed with twrp btw.
is there like something I'm missing? flashing certain radios or wifi fix?

i flash EVITA_3.18_for CM10.zip which works well

sorry im new, where can i find it, and i flash that before or after my rom selection

[Radio][RIL]HOXL Radios/RILs including CM10.x based ROMs (Flashable zips)

really sorry one more time. lol. I'm an idiot, and I just saw ur signature video haha
i'm flashing liquid jelly bean, it's 4.2.2 based, so which radio should I flash?

[Q] UCLA3 stock kernel and modem on Rogers Skyrocket?

Want to put the new kernel and radio on my Rogers 727R which is rooted, stock and CWM. The reason not putting on the whole ROM is that I will lose Rogers specific features, including hotspots without mods, and also NFC which I think is also Rogers specific.
My question is, when I install the new UCLA3modem.zip and the new UCLA3_stock_kernel.zip, will they work with my existing Rogers ROM and retain those features.
Also is there a specific order I should put them on, or does it not matter.
I'm not sure if those features are in the Kernel, or in the ROM.
Thanks
i asked the exact same question a coupe days ago, i was told it would work but will disable the rogers specific features
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you ask about installing the ROM. I'm asking about installing only the Kernel and Radio. So in effect, I'm asking, are the Rogers-specific features (wifi hotspot and NFC) located in the ROM, or in the Kernel.

I'm not sure if the NFC ability is part of the Kernel, the ROM, or both, but if you install the ROM, you will not have the "NFC" menu available even if NFC does continue to work with the phone. So, the best way to know if the kernel itself (and not the ROM) will mess up you hotspot and NFC is to do a nandroid backup and thry to flash the kernel. If it doessn't work, you can always restore your nandroid to exactly the place you made the backup from. The reason I suggest this is because it seems the kernel has a slightly different effect for different people so even if someone told you one thing...it may not apply to your situation. Hope this helped. The radio should not make a difference with the things you are concerned with, but if you flash the radio, you will need to relash a different radio (or the same you have now) if you don'y like it, because the radio lives in its own place and needs to be flashed by itslf.
I am on rogers as well and I flashed the new modem and kernel seperately and together and as a Rogers user I honestly didn't see a speed boost on my end. I did two speed tests one with the da_g .3 rogers kernel with the rogers modem and got at least 2.5 mbps faster than the updated kernel and modem combo. Just my 2ยข on the subject.

Flash tpc v3, or any other Rogers based rom, u will still have ur hotspots and nfc. Any of dags kernels (0.3, or the one included in the tpc v3, 0.43pre2) or the stock Rogers kernel will still work with nfc and stuff. Stay away from faux kernels as their wifi tethering has been disabled. I personally recommend u avoid the UCLA3 modem and kernel as in my experience it doesn't increase speed o
or reception on Rogers network, its actually worse

Flash Radio, the ROM

Looking over the ROMs I notice they seem to always say.
Flash radio
Flash ROM
Why the extra step? Last time I flashed custom ROMs and it has been awhile because ..... I am waiting and waiting for ICS, we used to have one zip file and it contained both.

because there are many different radios ....some work better for others .....to prevent a ril mismatch. u flash the modem. then the rom ......the rom flash will replace the ril. of the modem. so say if u want to use a kj2 modem on a ucla3 rom. well the ucla3 rom with a kj2 modem flash over it would yield a ucla rom. with kj2 modem. and kj2 ril. which may cause wacky data issues..........however if u flash modem first.....then flash rom you will have the base band you just flashed ..but your rom flash will give u the proper ril...
i can not guarantee the mismatch would always cause data issues. however with ucla3 modem it does and has been verified. numerous time.......ucla3 modem needs ucla 3 ril
but if your going to use a ucla3 modem and rom.........u may flash the modem first..if your not currently on ucla3 base band.......as long as you know for sure that said rom has proper ril.
---------- Post added at 08:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:17 AM ----------
theres a really cool rom called SILVER_ROM_STI you should check out......and a version that flashes the new ucla3 modem with the rom is being uploaded
ok, so what i get is to flash radio, then rom, so that the RIL from the rom is applied. but what is RIL? i'm using a skyrocket on tmobile network and want to use tmobile roms for the wifi calling feature.
in my scenario, what is the best procedure? i do not understand what RIL is and what it does and what it needs to be compatible with.
what i think is the best course is this, please correct me if i am wrong:
flash tmobile radio
flash tmobile rom
flash skyrocket kernel (is this necessary?)
again , i am using the skyrocket on tmobile network and i want to use tmobile roms for wifi calling. i would also like to be able to access tmobile networks at full speed.
thanks!
RIL is radio interface library, its kinda how your rom and radio talk. The method use just described should work, if you loose datacafter flashing the rom just flash the modem again.

data has been weird lately. speedtest is all over the place and typically doesn't go over 500kbps, but i have no issues browing web or streaming music.. i was attributing this issue to the one that is similar to samsung note users, but they have been patching tmobile radios to be used with the note.. im wondering if radios should be patched for the skyrocket
fyi, i do not know what they are patching.
Is it possible to flash the Blaze 4g radio found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572198
Then flash a rom over it to rewrite the RIL, and see if it works for the i727, or will it brick it?
I'm on T-mobile btw, and still trying to find a good combo. Can't get over 600 kbps DL and over 30 kbps UL

can you provide more information? what rom are you using? i am currently running the blaze radio you mentioned with tmobile tuesday rom with i727 faux kernel. it works. are you sure your speeds are not linked to your location? for instance, at my desk, i see speeds like you... but when i walk away like 50 feet, i get 3mbps.. go figure.
I have tried many combos:
ROM: Juggernaut 5.0, sky-ics
Kernel: faux 9m&u ,10&u
Radio: KID, VLK1, KJ3, LB7 (Blaze)
APN: wap, epc, internet2/3
Isolated 2g and 3g/4g
Everything performed similarly. Right now I'm on Juggernaut 5, faux 10u, and any radio.
I just received it yesterday and I have only been using it at my house so it could be location based.
What I found interesting was when I'm on a phone call and I use the internet, it runs where it should be around 2mb-4mb DL but upload is still weak at 100 kbps UL. Tried it multiple times on different radios, so it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. Any reason why this is happening?

i wish i knew, but our problems seem in line with that of samsung note users on tmobile. at the end of the day though, it's just a speed test. i have not had problems streaming music (except 8tracks), so all is good enough for me, at the moment..

Phone stays in Roaming mode.

I've Installed this yesterday, but I'm experiencing a couple of bugs.
I first did a format (disk + dalvic),
then flashed Codename Android v3.3.2
then Camera + Backlit Fix
and then Codename Android GAPPS
Because I have a S-on device, I flashbooted the boot.img from the CA Gapps zip. (other zips didn't have that file)
Everything works very smoothly, but the errors/bugs I encounter are:
4. When I insert my SIM-card, I'm always Roaming, untill I enable WIFI, then I can make phonecalls.
So when WIFI signal is lost, I'm at Roaming and mobile-internet doesn't work.
Does other people have these issues, or is it because of a wrong Boot.img I flashed?

Since I don't want to post this in the dev section anymore, I'll continue here.
This problem first started with Codename Android.
When I install an other ROM; for example Blindbean, the problem stays.
Then I tried MIUI from Shrome, same problem.
(always with format disk and clean dalvik cache)
This night I installed the ICE-DS v4.4 ROM, and everything works fine again.
But when I install Blindbean again, problem is back.
You guys have any idea how this is possible.
Boot.img isn't suppose to be in gapps. Should be inside the rom itself.
When flashing a new rom always do a full wipe.

Ok, so I did again couple of hours of googling and stuff, and found some interesting stuff.
In our country, we have 3 mobile networks with their own towers. (proximus, mobistar, base)
But 2 of them rent these towers to other carriers. (mobistar for example to Telenet)
It appears Jellybean (I have it on every JB rom) sees a difference between the carrier and the tower-network. (If you get my point)
So I have to enable Roaming to be able to use my carriers network.
So far I can see, no additional costs.
But this still is a strange bug, that started with JB.

[Q] No data connection with any Jellybean ROMs

Hi,
I recently decided to flash a jeallybean ROM since most of them are getting really great and we don't have any word on the official update. Unfortunatly, I'm now unable to get a data connection on my HOX. It's the rogers version which I unlocked and I'm now using on the Bell network. Before flashing, LTE worked fine with the stock sense ROM, but now I don't have any data at all.
ROMs I've tried :
AOKP, MIUI and CM10.
I've tried to : set the data connection to GSM only, nothing, to LTE only, nothing, to WCDMA only, nothing. I've tried all the APNs I've found (pda.bell.ca, pda2.bell.ca, inet.bell.ca). On AOKP it sometimes said "Error while searching for network". WiFi, texts and calls work fine.
If anyone could help me, it would be really appreaciated. Otherwise I'll just revert to Rogers ROM. Thanks alot!
I cant offer any help, but I'm having a similar issue recently. I was on a nightly build of CM10 (from 10/06/12 I believe). I upgraded to a newer build (from 10/10) and I get no data over cell. I flashed it back and things were fine.

Before flashing jelly bean roms you need to flash a sense rom then do full wipe and install cm10 or aokp..

I have the exact same problem with my SGS using the X-bean 3.0 rom.
What's the best solution? Is it because I used to Cwm?

Every device has its own nuances, as do various ROMs. So I'd advise posting this in the forum specific to your device.
Still no data connection.
I am having the same issue with my AT&T One X phone.
The phone was running 2.20 before it was unlocked/rooted. Installed TWRP, was a noob and forgot to save a backup, fastbooted the boot.img, flashed AOKP and CM10 successfully. With both of these ROMs, I could not get internet to work via cellular connection. I have tried everything with the APNs (even had AT&T help me setup APN settings) and still no mobile data connection. I can still receive/send SMS/calls, use bluetooth and wifi, just no mobile internet.
I'm not entirely sure what to do next. I attempted to go back and flash the UrDroid 4.1 Stock Sense ROM, but after fastbooting it's boot.img and attempting to flash with TWRP, I got a signature verification failure. Got scared and restored back to AOKP (I remember to make a backup this time.)
Thoughts? Sorry for being a noob.

I am in a "4G" area (HSPA+) but I am also a hour drive away from LTE. I have tried APNs for both, but AT&T recommended I stick to the LTE APN. AT&T had me go to Settings->More->Mobile Networks->Network Operators and the phone just sat there searching without finding anything. I just did that above operation again and it found AT&T and I selected it. It spins on "Registering on AT&T..." for a few minutes and eventually errors out "Cannot register on this network at this time."
Have you tried switching off LTE by selecting "GSM/WCDMA Auto" in Settings?
I've had data problems on certain ROMs, where turning off LTE got the HSPA+ connection working.
In that case, it was probably a base of build.prop not playing well with AT&T's network. Although I would think the ROMs you mentioned would have these issues worked out at this point (and for some time now).

When I switch to "GSM/WCDMA Auto", it immediately switches itself back to the LTE setting. This is concerning.

I'm new !!

hello everyone, new here,,, I have been browsing the forums for quiet sometime now, and decided to register. I have a questions about certain ROM's. I current have a htc one x at&t hboot 2.20 ; ( it has the viper 2.20 installed everything is great, but like everyone else you want to try something new. I have flashed KingCobra1x and Calkulin's One XL v1.2, both of them will install and work, but the LTE will not. I have made sure APN's were right I have tried resetting APN's , wiping cache / dalvik , ect It is driving me nuts. I can usually figure things out! I also tried flashing the radios that the developer suggest. My guess it has something to do with the radios, What am I doing wrong!?!? thanks!
Do you know for certain you have lte in your area?

Oh yeah, St Louis, it's working like a charm now on the viper rom right now..
I was now just reading the Calkulin's One XL post and I did do a full wipe, but I didnt flash the Calkulin's_FORMAT_ALL_for_One_XL.zip does that matter? lol
EDIT
worked! lol duh
I've started using his format for all whenever I switch from one ROM to another. I think it fixes a lot of problems people have, much like running an ruu.

I've often had trouble getting AT&T's LTE up and running on certain ROMs. Don't really have the technical knowledge to say, but it seems to have to do with something in the AT&T APN besides what you can manually input in Settings (possibly build.prop). Manually entering the proper APN info does no good, as does wiping cache/Dalvik. I never got LTE going on KingCobra (but didn't stick with it for long).
Turge has an APN fix originally posted in his ViperXL thread (current versions of ViperXL should work fine), and that has fixed LTE in some cases. Particularly for older ViperXL builds and rooted stock ROMs (non-AT&T carriers, specifically 2.42).
No guarantees on it working. Do a nandroid before flashing, if you want to be safe.

I didn't have any issues with LTE on Calkulin's ROM, but I haven't flashed the latest version (think I was on 1.1c). Did you keep user data between KingCobra and Calkulin's? You should always factory reset between different ROMs.

Yes, I completely wiped my phone. The KingCobra I never got LTE never tried the fix yet, but on the Calkulin's ROM got it to work with his fix and I have noticed that the signal became weaker from the status bar, but it still read a - 85 RSRP (same signal strength with Viper) Im on the ViperRom now and it has full bars compared to the 2 or 3 that I get with the Calkulin's ROM..
