Yes, we were expecting HTC to do something after seeing LG , Samgsung and some manufacturers showing off their dual core handsets, and 3d smartphone too.
Now its time for HTC to show their innovation as usual, they are a bit late but not too late ofcourse.
Check this:Click here ;-)
The HTC pyramid/ evo 3d will have a qHD resolution 960*540 (4.3 inch) and it will be capable of recording 1080p videos and 720p 3d videos. isnt tat cool??
But unlike the competitors this phone has a 1.2Ghz dual core processor (compared to 1 Ghz processor dual cores) . So lets hope to see more !
man. this is crazy
man thats sweet

Looks very gimmicky to me. I'd rather have decent docking capabilities than 3D functions that i'll never use.
At least for the people who buy it they'll be happy in the knowledge that Bloatware comes pre-installed for free!
Yup very cool but how much would you Really use it ? And, I bet battery life is not going to be good........... still neat idea
Yeah. Sprint just sent me an email about the evo 3d. Wuaaaoo
LIVE MY LIFE
Even minus the 3d the phone has some good specs. I might have to trade up my evo for this.

Yeah. They were in the 50's, too.
3D on a phone? Pointless. The screen is just too small and who the hell wants a headache from those silly glasses?
I'm getting really tired of all of this 3D madness. To me it is all just a bloody gimmick... I think this will end up like the Nintendo 3DS, useless. lol
Hey man its really good i can't wait give more details about that. Thanks.
I can't wait for a Dual core mobile,
bring on June I want a 3d Dual core
Sounds good so far, but the dual core is whats really important! cool
I'm not sold on 3D AT ALL. Sure, in the name of technological advancement, I can see it as a catalyst, but there are other pressing issues at hand.
High capacity battery
thinner design
power management
antenna technology
seamless interaction/transformation to other mobile devices (atrix dock for example)
etc etc
Evo 3D isn't the Pyramid..
It's so great!I wishes i have it

are you sure ud need glasses for this one .. sounds weird , recording 3d videos , only to be able to watch on your tv
It's auto-stereoscopic 3D, which doesn't need glasses. It's like the Nintendo 3DS
Any idea if there will be a GSM variant of this?
how does it work and is it more a gimmick?
Idk if this has any relation but the Nintendo 3DS works without glasses and that was pretty awesome. I played with one and it was sweet. It showed 3D pretty well. I found out it really depends on the angle your viewing it on. But 3D non glasses does work.
cool thanks i was looking into buying the 3d or atrix being i have sprint 3d is looking to be the better choice ima go check out the 3ds to get the idea and concept.
Auto stereoscopic
Basically it has two screens that are placed on top of one another and tricks the brain into seeing depth

You don't need glasses but it you run any custom os you loose 3d capability.
Ok so I am going to be on the market for a new smart phone within the next few weeks. I have a budget of 800 $ and have t-mobile as a carrier. I currently have the HTC hd2 and must say that this phone rocks. It's a swiss army knife capable of running multiple OS' reliably. It's fast and handles a heavy work load. I am looking for the next phone like this. A phone that is fast and capable. I want it to be everything the hd2 is but more. I really like the nexus s do to the nfc. So here is my question, what is the phone I'm looking for. Should I buy something now or wait for the next generation nexus that is rumored for a thanksgiving release?
nobody????
It sounds like you're pretty happy with your current device so I'd recommend waiting for the new nexus. Should only be what, about 4-5 months?
Is wait try miui on the hd2 for a while it'll buy you another month of satisfaction they'll be a few big dual cores out soon the hd2 3d looks good

hd2 3d? as in 3d screen?
Has a dual camera to record in 3d and can watch 3d without glasses

im on the fence about the whole parallax barrier thing. I have yet to actually see one for myself but havent heard great things about it
Yer I'm with you, and on top of that its not necessary lol, my upgrade is due here's hoping there's a 1.5 dual core round the corner

so I stopped into sprint and played with an evo 3d and WOW...just wow. the screen was amazing. the 3d effect totally blew me away. im totally hooked on glasses free 3d. then reality sank its fangs...right into my eyes. 5 minutes in....bam headache. but im still hooked. I just hope the lg optimus 3d ends up being a veery handy device like the hd2 has been. im going to wait and see what the future holds for the next generation nexus
Wow !!!!! If this is what Sprint and ATT are getting next month, holy cow, this will be the BEST Droid out until the Nexus-Prime, and history shows the Nexus series is just based off the current galaxy series. So this updated Galaxy S2.5 for the U.S. will be the one phone to rule them all.
Samsung confirms Galaxy S II LTE with upgraded specs - Sammy Hub
The new Galaxy S II will come with a big 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 8MP camera with flash and a 1850mAh battery.
1,5ghz? same processor w/ turbomode or different?
Just found this page today, not sure if this is a joke or not ?
Buy Google Nexus Prime SmartPhone - Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Says the Google Nexus-Prime is coming in November to all four U.S. carriers.
So the resolution is still 480x800 though (isn't that the res for SAMOLD plus?)? Man that's lame, still a dealbreaker for me. The processor upgrade sure is nice though...but 4.5 inches on that low of a resolution? There's no way that looks good even a little bit

That I would call a fake. The picture shows a nexus one with a froyo at the top then the bottom left shows the leaked pictures with what looks a Sammy with a different version.
Plus if you look in the blog there is no new rumors that we havent heard before

haha they really need to move that thanks button further away from the quote button!
One of my co-workers has an Infuse. It has a 4.5" screen thats a Super AMOLED and it looks amazing. Put it up next to a 3D or Photon and the Infuse wins hands down IMO.

Really? Man I just find it hard to wrap my head around that! I guess I'm just all hyped up on the 720p phones that are supposed to be coming...not that AT&T will be getting any, but I'm hoping there will be one by next spring, come upgrade time. Doubt it though...
PS, thanks for the thanks. I returned the favor just for fun

Maybe it was just me but I thought the Infuse had an amazing screen. QHD would make it look a heck of a lot better I would imagine.
I also cant tell a big difference between a pentile display against a full RGB either.
You might want to go check one out and see if you like it. I know I thought it looked better.

Optimus is better specs wise and has 3D which is a fun extra feature. Also its dual core which is better and will be getting android 4.0 this year so your sure to get newest operating system on it.
Specs say it has a fm radio on optimus but mine was not enabled however on the xda optimus 3D forum is an fm radio apk that installs and works perfectly on it if you get one and want radio included.
If you change from an iphone you will notice some big differences though. For example android does full multitasking whereas iphone doesn't so some people say you will get lag when doing several things at once.
Also when you install an app the phone becomes unresponsive for about half a second during installation process. Not sure why but all my phones have so I guess its an android thing.
I have a rooted optimus using go launchet and I like it but there are better phones out there for similar prices though experia play is not one of them and if you don't want the 3D aspect a better option might be something else dual core but with more ram as 512mb is enough now but may not be for much longer.
It does play high def 3D video perfectly though. Camera is good but the camera app isn't so if you get one try an app like camera zoom fx which will do a much better job.

both are decent phones, go to the store and play with both of them, get a feel and you'll be able to best choose. gsmarena has a good comparison site that will go over features
By the looks of it, your on at&t. If that is so, go with Galaxy S 2. Great phone and will get ics. If its tmobile, either HTC sensation or their galaxy s2 , which is still great.

If by Optimus 3D you mean the Thrill 4G on AT&T then don't count on ICS. The Optimus 3D has been confirmed to be getting ICS right around the time people will be wanting JellyBean. But, there is no mention of the Thrill getting it. The Thrill is still on Froyo, vs the O3D has the GB update. But, they are not similar enough for that to translate into a easy to install stable port.
Depends on your use desires. If you don't care about what version of android you are running, and just want a basic smart phone the Thrill is better than the Xperia play, spec wise. Plan on getting extra chargers or batteries. But if you want something for lots of game playing while the specs aren't the best those dedicated game controls come in handy. But, if you want the best and/or most future proof phone on AT&T today, get the Galaxy S II, the original - i777 - not the Skyrocket.
I'm in Australia just trying to find a fun feature rich phone for my budget and the 3D aspect sounds pretty alright but I can't find anywhere that says if the output to a 3D tv is any good the only reason I was thinking play was for the dedicated gaming buttons.

What don't you like about the iPhone? As much a I love my Android, I wouldn't mind taking the iPhone for a spin, if it wasn't carried on those two evil empires.

Check the Optimus 3D forums. I fairly certain it does output 3D content on a 3D TV over HDMI. But, I don't have a 3D screen, so I never tried with my Thrill. A 3D TV and the Optimus 3D use different types of 3D technology (no glasses required on the Optimus 3D), so the files are different.
The 3D games are fun, but I always have trouble playing games with on screen controls, they cover so much of the game on a 4.3" screen. But, with the controls of the Xperia its like having a PSP built into your phone. Much better gaming experience.

The iPhone runs on far more than 2 evil empires. It runs on three in the US alone.
The iPhone definately has its advantages. For my wife its the best thing. She doesn't want to worry certain things. It is more stable, and simpler to use. But everytime I use it, it feels laggy compared to my SGS II. Plus the screen is so small, I couldn't imagine playing serious games with on screen controls on a 3.5" screen. I did the iPhone thing, and it would take some serious face lift (it hasn't changed much from 4 years ago, and I don't mean just add more stolen ideas from android) to iOS and a 4"+ screen to get me to even consider it.

I know the O3D is rootable and can run custom ROMs. Not sure on Xperia. With both devices having unique hardware (3D and game controls) that does limit possibilities like Cyanogen. You can probably get CM7 on both of them, but it won't support the unique things about them.

The optimus outputs to tv fine at same resolution as source material but my tv is 2D so 3D content shows as side by side video.
You can root the phone as mine is rooted. As for roms there are a couple and apparently cm9 is coming to optimus as well. But I use stock gb rom so can't comment on other roms.

I use a replacement camera app for normal pics but for 3D ones the default app is not great if the subject is moving much like if your trying to take a pic of a cat or dog and they move as there is a camera delay although the 3D effect is good especially compared to evo 3D.
On stock lg launcher you may get lag though I never noticed any but I use go launcher now. Its a good phone but if your considering it you may want to check out the optimus 3D forum here at xda as there are lots of comments there and threads about good and bad points that will help you get a better idea if its for you or not.
Its a good phone and I wouldn't swap mine for anything but I love 3D. If you like 3D its a great choice but if 3D isn't important you can get faster phones with more ram for similar sort of price.
There is sometimes small delay as an app opens but no lag I have noticed and playing games in converted 3D is great

If you want a 3D phone get the optimus 3D or Evo 3D. If your not set on 3D get the s2 or galaxy nexus as it's very similar to the iPhone OS.

I agree except the evo bit as not only is optimus better for 3D but evo cannot play normal games in 3D and optimus takes better 3D pictures

Most Xperia's have locked bootloaders, so i would go for the O3D if I were you. Stock software may be sucky on the O3D, but no doubt it has a great developer base
