I have been using Samsung Omnia i900 for last one year guys. Now i intend to get a new phone but there seem to be alot of options out there and it made me confuse. Everyone has an edge over the other in some regard.
I almost went to get an HD2 , My reason being that it can run BOTH OS, WinMo 6.5 and Thanks to dev at xda it can also run Android almost as well. And i am a freak in tryin all the new stuff related to diff OS, so that gives me an edge for HD2, however its touch screen although capacitative wasnt as impressive as iphone 3gs.
And i m not sure how good android is, would the phone still be upgraded.
Please vote for what you think is going to be overall a better choice to go for now with regards to,
OS
Apps
Hardware
Future Development
Regards
Please do also give ur reasons why u suggest a particular phone
Really need help deciding coz i m confused
I would go with the iPhone 4 simply because front facing camera, hd recording, super amoled screen, great gaming device, sleek new design, and the best new "feature" added.. THE DEATH GRIP!

i agree with ipanda, the hd2 is good but its excessively large screen mixed with the type of lcd it has means the colours are all washed out, the galaxy s has good multi touch and games but the gps is crap, the iphone cant get a signal and the nexus one is just a desire without the optical trackpad and less ram lol
umm Nexus One is also abit cheaper i guess.... Optical trackpad doesnt really matter i guess... but currently its official software doesnt support Multi-TOuch which Sux.
Galaxy doesnt have a Camera FLASH... HOW the hell can Samsung miss that ... LOL
I am tilted for Desire.. But tell me one thing. Is the Android stuff really cutomizable? How about apps like superb 3d games in iphone.. Does android market has similar stuff?
And the MAIN Qs for me...... Whats the future for Desire? I mean new ROMs and New Android OS v3.0 or so will be available for desire or atleast custom roms maybe ?
I heard Android 3.0 is comin after xmas... i really want a device which can be updated with time
Eh... uh.... HTC Desire HD
hey...
and HTC EVO 4G???
my vote is for HD2..
I see I will have to raise my voice a little, HTC DESIRE HD IS GOING TO BE ANNOUNCED 15TH SEPTEMBER, IT WILL HAVE 4X THE POWER OF HTC DESIRE AND 8MPX CAM WITH DUAL LED FLASH. ALSO IT WILL HAVE AN AMAZING 4.3 INCH SCREEN AND ANDROID 2.2
IT WILL BE MOST PROBABLY CHEAPER AND WILL HAVE BETTER BATTERY LIFE. AND AT LAST, HDMI AND KICKSTAND.
THANK YOU

Wow thats cool... I can wait a month or so anyhow... Lets just hope its price doesnt go to peaks :S
Can anyone still answer my Qs that ... Will Desire also receive future updates from Android like 3.0 Gingerbread or so?
Coz i want a phone i can update/modify ... So that excludes iphone frm ma list
http://www.androidcentral.com/sprint-epic-4g-review
Hopefully my link worked. If carriers are not a problem, then I think Sprint's Epic 4g is the best phone out right now. From what I have read there is no GPS problem. It also has a larger slide out QWERTY than Droid 2,it has camara flash, and 4g - if your in covrerage area. Lag problems are also gone. There is the ability to cut off touchwiz in favor of android launcher as well. On my Captivate, the camara takes great photos without flash so camara quality is superb. Plus it has about the most capable CPU you can find coupled with the best gpu available. I bought the iphone4 on day 1 and returned it on Captivates release day and have not regretted it. And yes, its very customizable. Just pick a carrier with options because you can always trade it out within 30 days.

nope.
Android supports multitouch since 2.0, but the touchscreen sensor on nexus one is too bad to report multitouch.

Completely bull****.
No Evo 4G option? Now that the bugs have been worked out it's tits.
yeah my last phone was a vogue so I don't have much to compare it to, but there are already people saying they took back their epics after having AMOLED burn-in issues, bad buttons, no gps, etc.
Out of those phones, I think the HD2 has the best value considering its around $100 cheaper than the other ones, but with similar hardware specs. However, I've never owned any of those phones, so I could very well be wrong.
On a side note, if you are really into putting on different OS's and would like a change, you could take a look at the n900 (slower processor but could be overclocked) or even upcoming Nokia N9 (Though it seems like Nokia phones don't receive much love in this forum) . They're going to have the Meego OS, and developers have also ported Android 2.2 to run on the N900 aswell.
Seems like competetion here is between HD2 and Galaxy S, But there is a price difference of 200$ between these two phones, WHich is kinda alot
Extra 200$ for AMOLED 16 M screen, i guess thats the only hardware part where Galaxy/Desire are better than HD2. A small diff in RAM too, but otherwise all hardware specs are similar.
HD2 probably gets bad battery life with android and you could run into some weird bugs, they've done a great job with android, its what prolonged my touch diamonds life. Win mobile is dead, haven't looked back since I got my Evo. Best phone I've ever had, no regrets but there's always something new coming out.

HD2. Got 4 microsd cards, 3 running different builds of android the other running win mo. Depending on my mood or need for a particualr app (sat nav/games etc..) I just boot into whatever suits, HTC & Microsoft pretty much ditched this phone after the US launch yet XDA have given it a fresh start and pushed it back to the top of the smartphone list IMO. If you like playing about with your phone then there is no other option, the others are just phones in comparison
I have been usin WinMo devices for last 2 years or so, but i guess WinMo is kinda dead end now. Even if i get HD2, i will like to use Android on it for a change, So why not just get an Android set with No bugs
Well i am still compiling up my money... got 400$ by now That shud suffice for HD2, but i guess i gotta wait and save some more for Galaxy or Desire.
Why are people voting Galaxy and Not Desire ? I mean its almost the same hardware.... and Desire has a bigger community here i guess.... Htc phones usualy get new updates while i m not sure samsung will keep up the updates for their phones :S
(I have Verizon)
So I see that the Bionic is going to be dual core, better resolution etc. And it’s all over the internet that it appeared on Amazon for $149 for a few hours. So I would be an idiot to get the Thunderbolt now for $199 right? I mean even if I did want the thunderbolt I should wait for the Bionic because the TB’s price will go way, way down if the Bionic is $149..!
Anyone know when the Bionic will be out? I have seen post that it could be any time, others that it will be June...
A guy I work with has been looking for a new phone for at least a year now, constantly putting it off because there is something better around the corner.
Personally I really love Sense UI on my desire HD - it seems far better than motoblur, or any of the other UI overlays I've seen.
Yeah I know all about the putting it off thing. But these are big differences. The Thunderbolt is going to be like one of the last very top single core phones... Screw that.
If all phones are 2 or 3 months from all being dual core I want to wait.
Plus the Bionic has the bigger screen res and the dual core Nvidia CPU!
These are not little differences…

Since I posted it I have convinced myself even more! Lol
And I’m waiting for a post from someone saying I should wait for the Bionic too to make me feel better about it! lol
And unlike your friend I’m not waiting for “a better phone”… Its between the Thunderbolt and the Bionic only… I guess if the Galaxy S II came out I would think about it a little, but not much…
So it’s all about when the Bionic will come out and how much it will be when it does….
does seem very much like you've made up your mind
I seem to get burnt every time I stray from HTC. The big decider for me is actually holding one in my hands and playing with it - I've been all for a certain phone til I held it and thought "wow... feels a bit cruddy" hence why I have a Desire HD rather than a Galaxy S.

I appreciate that but I am not a brand loyalty guy…
I go ATI or NVIDA, Intel or AMD, Motorola or HTC, who cares… I want best bang for the buck period.
That changes all the time and so I change what I buy all the time. I have never not been "burnt" a little by any brand... They all have their pros and cons...

I gotta agree with the HTC sentiment. You will be much better off with HTC than with Motorola or Samsung. HTC phones are just superb, in my opinion. I have an Inspire 4G (HTC Desire HD) as well as an HTC HD2 and I had an HTC HD7. All are and were (hardware wise for the HD2 and HD7) excellent and superbly reliable and well built. My Inspire is the friggin love of my gadget life. I have not ever owned a phone like the Inspire that ever impressed me as much as it has. The Thunderbolt is basically the exact same as the Inspire/Desire HD except with front facing camera and other stuff...the LTE radio, as well.
If I were going to Verizon, the Thunderbolt would be my no-thought, no-blink choice. The Bionic is pretty much Verizon's version if the Atrix from AT&T. It has had some issues and the UI isn't as smooth as Sense 2.0. Plus if you want to customize, Motorola isn't too keen on an open platform. The Bionic looks good in specs and appearance, but that only goes so far. At the end of the day, the Thunderbolt will keep impressing you.

Agreed... I'm not one for brand loyalty, they all seem to have their ups and downs. HTC is on a great roll currently, and still seem to have something to prove.
My last phone was a sony and it was a horiffic letdown, as was my wifes X10. Both were some of the best around on paper. Premium price, nice design, AWFUL build quality and rotten support.
The other big plus is HTC tend to keep updating their handsets - the old desire is still getting 'em! Most other companies tend to stop caring once they have your money.
HTC is the RollsRoyce of phones
Rumor has it when the bionic comes out, it will come with new data pricing for 4G. Possibly tiered and higher rates.
You don't want the thunderbolt because its basically a refresh of the EVO. Tbolt has a better screen, 2nd generation qualcomm, better camera, more memory pre installed, new kickstand design, louder speaker, and its 4G at 30 bucks unlimited. All these reasons are not enough to get the phone now. ........sarcasm.
Get your bionic and have motoblur ... Yuck. Plus the bionic is ugly phone. Your truly going to sacrifice everything just for a first generation dual core phone?! ........besides you want a dual core dual channel phone but that's another story.
So far the only reason anyone has given to get the Thunderbolt is because they think HTC is better than Motorola. That is not a valid reason.
Anything else?
Hi all, I just wanted to post a quick question. I'm looking to upgrade from my sad Kyocera Zio M6000 to a top of the line, best in the market, Android smart phone. I thought I was going to get the HTC Thunderbolt until I spoke with my sister who works for Verizon and she said to hold off because it's having issues right now with switching from 3G to 4G. So I wanted to check here and see what you all think right now is the best, top of the line android smart phone out there. The most powerful, can handle -ANY- games out on the market, can record HD video, has 2 way camera, all the bells and whistles and is going to last me liekly years before I even think about getting a new one. I made a mistake getting my Zio and I've been regretting it for 10 months now and I don't want to make that mistake again. I plan to play game son it, watch movies,.. everything on it .. I appreciate all your responses and thank you for your time! REason I posted here is because I want the new phoen to be able to run any app and play any game flawlessly
-Seabhac
WAIT, I must say, when it comes to a phone and games Samsung has the best hardware but horrible software support (updates). As of now, hTc is behind the game. So far they haven't released any phones that even get close to competing with the Galaxy S II. Wait for a better Galaxy S to get on Verizon and GO. The Fascinate just doesn't get the job done either.
Droid Charge? It has literally everything you have mentioned. I personally would choose the Nexus S or HTC Sensation when it comes out. Droid Bionic will also have everything you are asking for and the Atrix 4G also seems pretty future proof.
Atrix is fine but motorola doesn't seem to provide OS-Updates in a serious manner.
I'd head for Nexus S. Strong hardware and probably quiet fast updates to ice cream and beyond.
Nevertheless I love my defy and wouldn't change for a nexus S but I'm not a gamer
Appreciate the answers but let me qualify this a step further,.. I want to replace it in the near future like this week or the next so of the ones out -now- which is the most powerful? I'm starting to think I might have to go iphone 4 but I really would prefer not to go that proprietary! lol

What are everyone's opinions of the HTC Thunderbolt? I keep considering that one as well due to the fact it seems to be the top of the line right now from Verizon.
Try LG Optimus 2X.... Dual-core with Nvidia Tegra!! Should be the most powerful one available in the market for now... gsmarena.com for more info...
Well truthfully it depends on which carrier your going to go with. As of right now T-Mobile has the G2X which is an Nvidia Tegra Dual Core Device and I believe it has Full Root now at least it looked close to it when I checked in on that forum on here a week or so back. Also most Android phones can be overclocked so look through the forums at the newer devices and see what they are doing there and how active it is and that will give you a better idea of what to go for considering the devices that are good and will get updates faster than stock tend to be the one's with the best reputation and like I said updated before stock. I personally have the T-Mobile G2 and the MyTouch 4g both Rooted and Both with Custom Roms and also Both Overclocked and running Gingerbread which is not released for Either phone Officially and I have yet to have issues running any games and don't get much screen delay at all on either of them. The G2X fyi is the American version of the LG Optimus 2X.
Xperia PLay Would be great..you will hav a big screen with PlayStation And Android Support in one device...
Nexus Prime!
just wait for the nexus prime!!!
just a week!!
Optimus 2x
Yes i love my Optimus 2x with Thanatos 4.1 custom overclocked 1400mhz dual-core rom so much that i bielieve it is the best for gaming.....
I have never try anything else xD
What phone should I get. I have had bad luck with samsung and that's what's holding me back on nexus. The Evo 3D with 2 cores looks nice. So I will upgrade from my transform Friday what do you think?
Sent from my Life-Line using TapaTalk.
I picked up an Evo 3D last Friday, and it's a great phone. The dual core processor is way snappy... no noticeable lag when doing anything. However, if rooting your phone is important, then you may want to hold off. HTC said they'd unlock the bootloader, but they're currently shipping the 3D's with a locked version. Furthermore, they've yet to say anything since launch regarding the issue. I rarely used programs that required root, so I can deal for the time being. If rooting and/or custom roms aren't anything you care about, then get the 3D today!
I've heard the Evo 3D is super slick, though I still think 3D is a bit gimmicky at this point. Then again, I have no problems buying into gimmicks, lol. I would personally go with the Evo.
I would go for the EVO 3D, specced with cool stuff
Bought the Nexus S 4g on the 6/4 for my gf. I liked the ns4g, its sleak and very lightweight. The specs are good and its a snappy phone that ran every app I tried. Of course there isnt a bunch of pre loaded garbage in them. We went to Vegas earlier in the month and it had a problem with internet connectivity, when my evo shift would have no issue at all.
Then I looked at the specs of the 3d and figured that the hardware in the e3d would be on the cutting edge for a good time to come(whereas the ns4g seems to be at the end of its cycle with a single core processor), so we went and swapped it out yesterday. The e3d is definitley cool, loaded with a ton of bloat, but its fast. The 3d pictures are very cool, maybe gimmicky, but nonetheless very fing cool.
I cant wait to see how fast it can be once its cranked up a little.

Nexus has no memory card slot.... (Dont take away what we already have)....
That is a deal breaker for me-- and the Evo is snazzier looking (and you know the Evo Dev community will have it rooted and rommed in a fing week...
Evo 3D is way better than Nexus S in many ways. However, Nexus S is one of those few phones with vanilla and it's the most likely phone to get the next update first.
Like others said, 3D is a gimmik but hey, it's cool still. If you can afford it, I'd advise you to wait a bit since 3D and dual core phones have *just* started coming out.
I picked up the 3d last week. Absolutely love it. I wasn't getting it for the 3d, thought it was gimicky also, but it actually is pretty cool. Fits perfect in the hand also

Hi guys, my wife's phone contract is up and she wants a new handset. Currently has the HTC Desire which she loves except for the low memory for downloading apps... however I want to keep her up with the times, so wanted your advice on the best Android phone out of:
- Samsung Galaxy S2
- LG Optimus 3D
- HTC Sensation
- Moto Atrix
- Or any other phone she should be considering.
BTW I have an LG 2X and have rooted it. I likely wouldn't root the girlfriends phone so it must work well on stock, but being able to root in future would be good just in case....
Cheers

Thanks for the reply mate.
To be honest i'm inclined not to play the waiting game... there are always new phones just around the corner and if you keep waiting, you can wait forever.
I can't see any major advances in the tech before Christmas, maybe faster processors or a bit more ram, screens are getting too big as it is at 4.3" and I doubt faster processors or more ram will be too visible, especially to my wife who only calls, texts and occasional web stuff.
Even when the new stuff does come out it'll be far too expensive so i'll have to wait another 4 - 6 months for it to come down in price.
Will see what T-Mob come up with on price... the S2 is my personal favourite too, but tempted by the atrix for a bargain price plus all the docks are nice.
i have the Samsung fascinate, it is basically version 1 of the sgs2
the gs2 is very sleek, and it has 4 touch keys at the bottom, which i like better
the screen quality on the regular super amoled screen is incredible, and the boot-loader is unlocked
ppl complain about the build quality on Samsung phones however, comparing to the Motorola OG droid and droid X (which Ive used) it feels as sturdy without the added weight of metal
all in all, the gs2 would be my pick, however Christmas time they usually cut prices and have new models out so i would definitely wait
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

i have the Epic 4G with slider keyboard. i'm not happy that they have not officially released gingerbread, but it's been a solid device this past year. i would go for the S2 as i don't think i can go back to a regular screen. if it is truly for your wife who "only calls, texts and occasional web stuff", then any of those will more than suffice. obviously, the S2 is the latest of the bunch, so at least it will be more future proof. as for it being too big, let your wife decides.
