Battery issues after rooting. - General Questions and Answers

Hi I am a total newbie in android and rooting. So a few months age I rooted my s2 using an insecure rom 4.0.4 bvlph. afrer a few my phone started turning itself off even when battery is near 100 percent . when i turned the phone on again it started saying low battery. This kept happening a lot and it has now come to a situation where i can not use the phone for more than an hour doing anything. I have attachdd a picture which shows the battery drain and how quickly it happens. I have also attached a picture which describes my phones details. I was suggested XDA by a friend and was hoping that someone can point me to the right direction.
Many thanks for your help.

You can try wiping battery stats, or flashing a new ROM altogether

Try flashing stock rom via odin
Just Google it

Flash a new custom rom..
And do a full wipe before installation..
If that doesnt work then there is something wrong with ur battery

Although if his battery wasn't having this problem before, it seems unlikely that it just developed exactly when he rooted.
Like they all said though, do a full wipe before you flash a new ROM.

I think u should go with a new ROM
Flash a new ROM
Try underclocking ur new ROM
This might help

Keyword being "insecure" rom. Try a different one!

It looks like that this rom Network and Wifi is eating up your battery the most. I would say its cause that your network signal is poor and your phone keeps searching for a good signal and that is using up your battery. You can try flashing a new rom as well as getting a new card (transfer the number to a new sim card).

yes, I have heat, but not that really hot, just a little warm when work with it more than 10 mins continuously like gaming, facebook or sth...so, it's not a big deal but battery I think I can deal with things in 24+ hours so, it's great ^^ (stock 1650 mAh fyi)...anw, has someone tried tweaks like A.S 15 beta or Supercharge or Lagfree 2.1 on CM7 yet? I applied those but don't know if they're working or not since there's nothing remarkable
Haha, after I've flashed so many roms and many times, seem like my phone now have 000...00 imei for permanent lol (forgot to backup things ^^) so, be careful men
Edit: after flashing CM7 again by FB CWM method (via CWM), the IMEI is back @@...my phone was really got me =]]

DO NOT use those tweaks on CM7. They are not made to work with CM7 and may cause issues.

Yes, flash a one click that comes with a custom kernel built in, and make sure that if you made the backup in RED cwm you restore from RED cwm

I seem to be getting inferior battery life on CM7 compared to VB w/ AntonX's kernel, with about the same amount of usage. Anyone else notice this? I'm guessing this is mainly down to the reversion to a stock kernel. Are there any tips for battery life specific to CM7 and besides the usual ones (e.g., battery apps, screen brightness, turning off mobile networks)?

CM7 will be worse on battery until they get all the kinks worked out. You might still see less battery over a custom modified stock rom.
Weird thing happened to me..from miui when I downloaded the files rebooted to recovery it booted into blue cwm so since u said that I thought ill just backup then do a red cwm since it wouldent let me flash..got on cm7 with no problems thanks guys

Try fix permissions and reflash gapps zip. If it doesn't work you might have to repartition SD card from CWM and reflash.

Are u using any tweak or anything? I'm just in the ROM itself with nothing and battery isn't great.

No I am not using anything extra. I got like 16 hours with heavy usage. It's about same or slightly better than what I used to get on VB.
I know what I did wrong..hard to explain

Major Major Issue! Please help!

Hey guys I have happily had my samsung infuse for over a year now. I decided to root my device around 6 months ago, and I have been happily using the Zeus Rom. All of a sudden my phone has started to freeze up at the title screen and not allow me to go further. It literally freezes up and shuts off? Now I have attempted to hard-reset and wipe all the cache's but seems as if nothing works. And to add upon that, my USB slot doesn't work either (been charging off of an Anker Charger) for the last 2 months. Therefore, Odin is out of the question. What should I do?
Please help!
Regards,
Ahadsz
If you still have the ROM on your phone then wipe everything and reinstall it. See what happens.

Help with ICS port P920

Hey community im in a bit of pickle and need some help on how to get out of it. I have a P920 which i have flashed with XBSA's ICS port. All went fine, i have then rooted the phone and installed TWRP recovery on to it. So far so good but heres where the problems begin. I have installed the several different custom ROMS available for ICS but i have a battery issue with all of them. The battery has juice left in it but after 5 mins or so of using the phone the battery drops to 1% then switches off. Thats the first issue, the 2nd issue is that im not able to change the clock widget on the lockscreen. Even though i change it in the settings when i lock the screen its still the same widget on there (London time and Seoul time widget). Help please if anybody can
Did u try wiping battery stats

No i haven't tried that, is that done through TWRP? Im having issues with downloading apps from the play store as well, i can log in but it doesnt let me download anything, keeps giving me an error plus im getting no network signal in areas where i used to have full signal when i was on gingerbread. Might have to downgrade to gingerbread again at this rate
OK the signal is only a baseband problem and yes wiping is done through recovery

Automatically getting restarted

My phone is restarting many times I am on cm7 with the original kernel this same thing was happening on ICS so reverted to cm7 but the problem did not solve the phone was suddenly restarting in the recovery even when I was installing any rom is this a hardware problem
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
It may be a hardware issue but first you need to rule out software, gremlin problem. Have you done a one click back to stock yet? If not you may have to do that. Also doing a sd card wipe(format) every once in while helps.
Their are two versions Gremlin Remover (oden), and heimdal one click back to stock.

Could be a few things. You'll need to take the phone aprt to check though. Here
's a guide:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung+Galaxy+S+4G+Teardown/4977/1
The battery post are soldered to the main board. Look for cracks there. Also pull out the power button and clean it. Those are the two most likely places to check.

[Q] Is it bad for the phone from doing often factory reset or installing custom roms

As title says, is it bad for the phone from doing to often Factory Reset or Flashing a custom rom?
By the way i'm new to this Android world, and i know my question is kinda silly or whatever but just wanna make sure hehe cya around!
I think ur battery don't like it. And u got low change to lost efs folder when u flash roms

I don't really think it's hard on your battery. Resetting your phone after flashing is always a good thing, for it wipes the remainings of the previous ROM, thus minimizing the chance of recurring or any new bugs. Also, it's good for performance :]

That's a really silly thing to worry about. As long as you don't manage to brick your phone (very very low chance), it's fine.
really it's nothing to worry about
all you can see in battery performance changes, is that, the custom rom sucks up more battery
