Recover SGS2 with broken screen - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
the screen of my SGS2 is broken but I can start the device.
Samsung Kies showed it's locked and I couldn't access it.
Therefore I followed one of the recommendations in this forum:
1) Downloaded Odin
2) Downloaded Siyah-s2-v6.0b5.tar
3) Successfully flashed the device with Siyah
4) Now, I start CWM recovery console (UP-button+HOME-button+POWER-button). I see the device is connecting. No driver found.
And then I'm stuck.
Can someone with an SGS2 give me some instructions what exactly I need to press to bring the device inn USB MODE?
Thank you!

[Q] Rooting Samsung Galaxy S II

Hi guys. I'm totally new at this rooting and all. I tried rooting my Galaxy S II so heres what happened.
I used Odin v1.85 and that worked out perfectly. But when i used SuperOneClick v2.1.1 to root afterwards, it goes up to "waiting for device" and hangs out and the next thing i see is that the SuperOneClick is not responding. I have all the things required like .NET Framework 2.0/Samsung Kies 2.0
I also had no choice cause i dont have any SD card in my phone to try the other process.
I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out here. Thanks
Check out your phone specific threads. There should be step by step guides there

Well I've tried this guide but sadly, like always, gets stuck in "waiting for device" and then not responding and then I have to force close SuperOneClick

uninstall super one click then try flashing with ODIN.
Ensure you have USB debugging enabled.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
Make sure:
a. Kies is installed but not running
b. USB debugging is on (Settings>Applications>Development)
Well, Kies is installed and USB Debugging Mode is on. But still it does not work. I have done all things step by step but doesn't work.
Will flashing with Odin do the same thing (I mean like rooting) ?
Maybe your USB drivers need updating. KIES has the option to update drivers - or you can download drive and app from PDAnet.
With your phone plugged in to USB (debugging on), can you -adb devices- and see your phone? If not the you have a driver problem.
With the drivers fixed everything else should work for rooting the device.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Start from the beginning if all else fails...
Flash to stock with Odin, make sure you have the correct drivers installed and debugging mode is active. Then try super one click again... If that fails again, try tonroot manually by reinstalling the update.zip package

Help unbrick B70+ Device device

Hi guys,
I installed that stupid Rom Manager and ****ed up my CWM. I needed to force coldboot to start my ROM.
Thats why I install a stock ROM from CWM and since then I cant start my transformer anymore. All thats starting is this god damn CWM over and over again.
I tried to using NV Flash, but I cant install the ADB drivers. My device is not recognized as a ADB device, but unknow device. I tried to download 3 different ADB drivers, but no luck. Also I think the device is suppose to beep when going into ADB mode, but mine doesnt.
I can still access CWM and have a stock rom and recovery on it, but installing them doesnt do jack,
Some links I tried that look promising but didnt help.

maybe are dumb questions but:
is your sbk, the 1st or the 2nd version?
are you sure you've used the correct version of nvflash for your sbk?
have you tried to install usb driver simply from the asus website?

Tried both and they will tell me they cant find my transformer. The asus drivers are installed, before I bricked the phone I could copy files on it. But now it will only show as unknown usb device and I cant install a driver for it.
Listen since your tablet is B70 use 1st method... also "easy flash" has a link to a driver called "universal naked driver" use it... then try rooting.. should work fine

Could you be more specific about installing the custom firmware doesn't work? Did you wipe everything completely beforehand?
What did NVFlash tell you? Are you sure you really are in APX mode?
What you mean by "it doesn't recognize the driver" ? You should remove existing drivers from your laptop and install naked drivers... read the steps properly.... its pretty easy

I was trying to install the stock rom/recovery. did a complete wipe before. always works like charm when i do that on my phone.
NV Flash tells me that it doesn't recognize the phone. I am not sure if I am in APX mode. I read only that the tablet should make a sound, which it doesn't for me. When I press power+up windows is trying to install a driver though, so I am in some kind of mode.

Windows doesnt allow me to install the drivers for apx when Iam navigating to the driver folder. Tried serveral sources including the naked drivers.
Not so confident that removing drivers will help anything since I wasnt able to install a driver in the first place. I will browse my hardware list and see if there are some things that I can remove and try reinsalling.

Ok I attachted my transformer to my laptop and that one didnt have any drivers installed. I started the transformer with pressing the up+power button and windows installed a unknown usb device, without any possibility to select a driver. I tried to install the naked driver 0.7 from ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379875 ) without any success.
Also wheeli shows an connection error v1 or v2.
See attachted Screenshots.

Odin not finding my phone in download mode?

I have a galaxy s2 4g i9210t. I had kies installed and Odin worked fine for all my other phones and read this phone fine when in recovery mode or normal mode, but when I boot it into download mode Odin doesn't detect it and I get an error say failed to Install Samsung USB Cdc device driver. So my first instinct was to reinstall kies, that failed so I tried just installing the drivers on their own, that also failed. I then tried it all on another computer, that failed. I've also tried 5 different cables all of which work for my other phones. Can anyone help?

First you have to manage to install drivers...
Until you can not install drivers successfully it will not detect your device..
Are you using window 7?
Because it automatically detects and installs drivers.
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.

Try to start Odin in Compatibility Mode!
As in just right click properties compatibility?

No go on compatibility mode. I don't think it's a problem with Odin reading it I think it's a problem with windows installing the drivers as I get the failed to installs driver error every time.

You need to get your phones USB system drivers installed or it is not going to find your phone no matter how many cables you use. You need to get the drivers that are there off and get a good clean install done. Find the right drivers "Samsung" windows for your flavor OS and install them on the computer. It should work fine then.

Well it's stock at the moment so I'm using kies for the drivers or the driver pack. But I'm trying more clean installs now.

Besides samsung kies, you should also uninstall and reinstall the correct drivers from the samsung website. Also sometimes something as simple as getting a new usb cable will fix this probem. Sounds kinda dumb but ive had samsung phones that work with one cable and are not recognized by another.

I've had that cable problem too, it was due to a cheapo "charge only" USB cable that came with a free charger... lesson learned!
[Solved] Odin doesn't detect your phone. Drivers error. Blah Blah...
Folks!
Your phone BRICKED???
ODIN Doesn't detect your phone???
Shows Driver Error Code 37???
Stuck in bootloop???
Well Well!
Everything is fine.
Don't just try all the solutions online.
The problem is installation of samsung drivers over and over again is replacing the existing drivers instead of wiping them out. So, the drivers have become incompatible with your device and as well as ODIN.
The solution is very simple.
Just reinstall your operating system of pc, install drivers and then You will definitely find what the magic with the drivers.
Hope you found it helpful...

Hey there, didnt know if your problem was solved so ill give a few steps that I did after the ota 4.1.1 update
First let the device reboot and optimize. Then turn off. Hold the vol- and power hard buttons to put it in download mode.
Download cf-auto-rood from hear on xda, and odin if u need it, also I find that the samsund updater/push notify dosent go cracked out if u have triangle away...
Install kies from samsung, then stop the program through your task manager.
Plug in the gtab2 and wait for the notification that the device is identified, double check that kies is not running, start up odin and flash the cf-auto-root through, I believe the thread will give u which option to flash. Let it reboot.
If it hange at the boot do a hard reboot and plug in the power cable let it charge then boot it up.
If all goes well you'll be rooted with busybox, then install cwm through the market then flash the recovery.
Its a long process but its worked for me about 4 to 5 times after reflashing the stock tar file I got from a when the first root was done for the gtab2. Hope it helps you or anyone else...
