Battery drain of HTC sensation: GSam results - General Topics

Hi, I'm rather new to android and I recently bought an anker battery from amazon since my stock battery was draining battery really fast. However, I other than the first day if usage where my battery life was really good, I've realized that my battery isn't doing very well now. Light usage of the internet will cause a drop of abit 1% per min. I've searched threads and have downloaded GSam battery monitor.
From the app, I found out that most of my battery drain was due to "Kernel (Android OS)". Here are my results. I would appreciate it if you guys could take the time to help me find out what has been causing this battery drain.
I don't have any other apps open btw.
Thanks a bunch!
ps: typing this post drained 6% of my battery.

New battery

I just got a new battery from HTC, a replacement for the stock one um using. Should I charge the new battery as sion as I put it on the phone or shall I use it and wait til it die before I charge it to have a better battery life?

The batteries that come with a new phone are usually around 40%, they do this because 40% is a perfect amount to charge at. If you battery you receive is at around 35%-45%, I would give it a full charge, if any less, or at 85%+ I would use it until it runs out, then search the android market for a battery calibration app.

I have a stock phone no rooting or not flashed. Are there any battery calibration app for a stock phone?

I just used the replacement battery but everytime I look at the stats it still shows the stats from the old battery. How can I clear the stats to start a new one. My phone is pure stock out of the box no root or flashing. Ty.

Battery level drops fast (ViperS 1.3.5)

After installing 1.3.5, battery level is dropping so fast. I did battery callibration. On previous version (1.3.0) with one hours heavy usage battery level used to be at 90%. Now its 80%!

Have you tried different kernels? Sometimes switching to a more battery friendly kernel can help. Also it could be time for a new battery. An extended battery like Anker or mugen. Both good batteries.

How long ago since you installed the 1.3.5? It will take a couple battery cycles (full charge/discharge) after install until you start seeing 'real' readings.
If you just installed the ROM, please give it some time to settle as system is still building.. Give your new ROM some charge/discharge cycle..

Same for my phone...
mine seems ok, im using an anker battery with Faux's latest beta kernel (version 10 beta 6) give that a go and give it a few days to settle down and see what you think. all day in my pocket takes it down to about 70% with light usage and calls.

Should I say BYE to this battery?

Hi, its been a year since I am in this rooting process and changing Roms and kernels but for few days i'm noticing an issue not only on VIPER 1.60 (currently using it) but also on others. My phone takes long time to charge and the battery bar is all messed up. Shows different readings before and after restart and all the battery just drains with speed of light? Need advice, thanks

As a last step before getting a new battery, probably you could try placing a paper card or credit card between the battery and the back cover to see if there is an issue with battery positioning. I resolved similar issue with my phone this way.
If your battery is draining that fast, yes I would definitely look into buying another. My stock battery was awful, finally I broke down and got another, I'm very glad I did! It makes a big difference to have a good extended life battery! If I we're you, yes I would by another battery. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes.

Sometimes the problm is with the machine inside the phone. If that machine is malfunctioning then it will also make your new battry dead.
So confirm it first.

I had a similar issue, my battery wouldn't charge past 80%. I tried wiping my battery stats and everything, try the battery in a different phone if you can. I bought the 1900 MHA Anker on amazon. I get 6-12 hours more out of this battery than I did with my stock because it was so beat. Good Luck
Thanks everyone I will get new one ASAP and I think hardware except battery is sound

Charge your battery to 100%, reboot to recovery, wipe battery stats, and reboot.
Tried 100 of times but I think no luck I have been doing this for so many ROMs

draining battery

Im running the JoyOS ROM and Im only getting like an hour of battery life everyday when I wake up my phone is dead. Ive tried to even turn the wifi off at night and it still dies. And yes Ive also got a new battery same results. I wanna keep the ROM because its sounds great in my truck
Download a WakeLock detector or BetterBattery Stats to find out whats draining your battery.
It's not saying what is draining it. It could be dead and I go into recovery and it would say I have 50 percent battery life

That happens a lot. It's most likely your battery giving away.
