Battery level drops fast (ViperS 1.3.5) - HTC Sensation

After installing 1.3.5, battery level is dropping so fast. I did battery callibration. On previous version (1.3.0) with one hours heavy usage battery level used to be at 90%. Now its 80%!

Have you tried different kernels? Sometimes switching to a more battery friendly kernel can help. Also it could be time for a new battery. An extended battery like Anker or mugen. Both good batteries.

How long ago since you installed the 1.3.5? It will take a couple battery cycles (full charge/discharge) after install until you start seeing 'real' readings.

If you just installed the ROM, please give it some time to settle as system is still building.. Give your new ROM some charge/discharge cycle..

Same for my phone...

mine seems ok, im using an anker battery with Faux's latest beta kernel (version 10 beta 6) give that a go and give it a few days to settle down and see what you think. all day in my pocket takes it down to about 70% with light usage and calls.

How long can you go with your screen-on after a full charge?

Hey guys... I just wanna know how long does it take your sensation to drain your battery while your screen-on... I have my brightness set to 50% and after 2 hours of screen-on, the battery is dead... I mean full charge to shutdown... Please share your experience and some advise to improve this... Thanks in advance...

Depends on other factors too but my screen on time usually falls somewhere between 3-4 hrs. However, like I said that is not the only thing effecting your battery life.
Well, watching a 40 minute TV show on mine uses 20% of battery with screen set to 100% brightness, so 2 hours should leave about 40% of battery.
This would suggest there's either something else using your battery, or there's something wrong with your phone/battery
5 hours if I'm really conservative with the brightness.
Sigh... i guess there is really something wrong with mine.. and i can't really find what is eating my battery... When it's idle with 3g on, it does not consume anything at all, may be just 3% for 3 hours.. but when i start to turn on the screen, battery life begins to drain so fast...and that is only at 50% brightness... This is just frustrating.. anyways, thanks for sharing guys... Much appreciated

It really depends on how u use ur phone, like me for ex. I use it as a music player also, so say when I'm driving I'm playing music bt screen is not on so by the time actual screen time is on, batt will have drained some thus giving me less display time per charge. (or playing a game). There's been a time I got a lil over 4 hours bt dint play music/games tho. And my fone is always on auto brightness

My battery drains more when its on standby. When its on it will drain less

i have it since one week then i play too much with it ... 2 or 3 hours
i tried too much rom and to much kernel
Can anyone confirm that setting the brightness to auto will save more power?.. i read something in the other thread that it will consume more power because it will always try to sense which is the suitable brightness for the current environment you are into... Correct me if i'm wrong please...

Depends how I use my phone, and also how good the signal is. I would say 4 - 5 hours on average. I got 5 hrs 10 mins the one day last week
Screen brightness set around 30%.
That's nice... I envy you having able to squeeze 5 hours of your screen-on time..

6hours,
Light Rom.
30% brightness

Always set to auto brightness, feels like no matter what I do with the phone whether it's heavy gaming or light usage, the screen-on time gets to about 3 hours before the battery goes.

Just one question for all of you guys having more than 4 hours of screen-on time.. are you all rooted and have flashed other ROMs?...

Low brightness, but that's still pretty amazing.

Battery life question

Thinking of getting a Sensation, but I want to know what the average battery life for a rooted, custom ROM with me being a light to medium user. Will it get me through a whole day of use without recharging?
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I get 10 hours medium use, 13 hours light use. Don't let that put you off, I have problems with my battery.. most people usually get more than me! You can also get extra batteries which can last you two whole days.

Yea battery life is ok. Its really good on cm7 & miui. More so on miui. Love this phone though. You gotta pay to play.

I'm able to last till 8-9pm in the noon with Wifi - Data On and my Email Synchronising every 30 minutes. Of course I'm on the ArHD rom,
If you are really keen on battery life, you can always try replacement batteries.
One of such that achieved some fame is the Anker Battery.
Proven by various XDA users that it's working.
You can give it a try

Should I say BYE to this battery?

Hi, its been a year since I am in this rooting process and changing Roms and kernels but for few days i'm noticing an issue not only on VIPER 1.60 (currently using it) but also on others. My phone takes long time to charge and the battery bar is all messed up. Shows different readings before and after restart and all the battery just drains with speed of light? Need advice, thanks
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
As a last step before getting a new battery, probably you could try placing a paper card or credit card between the battery and the back cover to see if there is an issue with battery positioning. I resolved similar issue with my phone this way.
If your battery is draining that fast, yes I would definitely look into buying another. My stock battery was awful, finally I broke down and got another, I'm very glad I did! It makes a big difference to have a good extended life battery! If I we're you, yes I would by another battery. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes.

Sometimes the problm is with the machine inside the phone. If that machine is malfunctioning then it will also make your new battry dead.
So confirm it first.

I had a similar issue, my battery wouldn't charge past 80%. I tried wiping my battery stats and everything, try the battery in a different phone if you can. I bought the 1900 MHA Anker on amazon. I get 6-12 hours more out of this battery than I did with my stock because it was so beat. Good Luck
Thanks everyone I will get new one ASAP and I think hardware except battery is sound

Charge your battery to 100%, reboot to recovery, wipe battery stats, and reboot.
Tried 100 of times but I think no luck I have been doing this for so many ROMs

Battery drain of HTC sensation: GSam results

Hi, I'm rather new to android and I recently bought an anker battery from amazon since my stock battery was draining battery really fast. However, I other than the first day if usage where my battery life was really good, I've realized that my battery isn't doing very well now. Light usage of the internet will cause a drop of abit 1% per min. I've searched threads and have downloaded GSam battery monitor.
From the app, I found out that most of my battery drain was due to "Kernel (Android OS)". Here are my results. I would appreciate it if you guys could take the time to help me find out what has been causing this battery drain.
I don't have any other apps open btw.
Thanks a bunch!
ps: typing this post drained 6% of my battery.

Question battery stats

Hey there! Here is the screenshot of my battery stats. Im wondering whether its normal behaviour of not. Using cm10.1 latest albinoman build.
Thank u for unswers

If you had started with a full battery, rather than with a reboot, I think it's either an old battery which is losing it, or something is heavily draining it.
Only 16 minutes of screentime is really low. Guys get to 4 hours but about 2 hours is the avg.
If its the original, some 2 years old, battery, I would suspect it.
Can you provide some more details? Cpu,gpu settings, battery age.. etc?

According to the screenshot, he lost 20% starting from 27%.
It would be interesting to see the partial wakelocks screen.
In standby my phone drains around 0.9%/hour (click here to see what I am running).
