Good Luck!:fingers-crossed:

I used this guide and had no problems and I'm a noob too
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591774
Also, install pdanet for Android before starting this guide (it should be in the NS One Click Root 2.0. folder that is linked to in step 0. So when you download and unzip the folder find pdanet and install it, then proceed with the guide.
Its easy you'll be fine.

apparently i didn't root my phone, i thought i did but something went wrong.
in the video, where you set your device and build, i do that and i'm sure i chose the right options, it tries to
download "openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-crespo.img" but it says mismatch under hashcheck.
Anyone can help me with this problem? My phone is unlocked, i just can't get it to root.

problem solved.
i plugged my USB at the back instead of the front of my desktop computer.

problem with super one click. PLEASE HELP!

Hi guys, I need some help here. I'm a noob to rooting Android phones and I'm reading as much as I can to learn as much as I can but I have hit a little hitch.
I recently got the new HTC Inspire 4G from ATT and I'm trying to use super one click. I installed the Android sdk and every possible add-on for the sdk.
The problem is every time I try to use super one click it hangs as soon as it tries to do psneuter and the same thing happens if I use rageagainstthecage at the same point.
I have no idea why this keeps happening as I think I'm doing everything correctly.
Please help me figure out how to did this issue so I can use this program and root my phone and allow installation of non market apps.

No offense but if you spent 2 seconds reading a little bit you would realize that there is no one click root for the inspire YET. However there is an alternative method to root that involves making a gold card. All of this info can be found in android development.
super one click doesn't support the inspire right now. to root and enable sideloading, start here.

from what I heard and read, There will never be an easy root for the Inspire. I followed the directions using ace hack kit with successful results. I'm Rooted and already flashed Leedroid ROM.
Go to the IRC channel if you have problems. But first thing is making a Goldcard. That's a must

Ok, so i had read and attempted that method also. I have attached a screen capture of what happens when i follow that guide................ nothing!
I open a prompt directly in the folder with adb in it and i run the command, obviously without the unnecessary path, and it starts the process and never returns the magic number that i need.
Any ideas what to do next?

First time in the command window type "adb devices" and wait for it to return line describing your device. Then you can proceed with the adb shell commands.
So i tried the "adb services and it just gave me a long list saying the same thing on every line and that it was offline. Then i ran the original command and i got a different error.
Again i attached a screen grab of what happened. Thanks for all this help guys.
I did exactly the same thing as the guy in that video did. Literally step by step. I just don't get that number when i try it.

i wouldn't say never in this forum, unless its to samsung
I am using the hack kit.
Well HTC is a little different. Some HTC users feel they are elitist who feel that if you have no idea about basic adb commands then you shouldn't be accessing root. This is just my opinion from back when I had a magic and dream. I'm not talking about anyone directly, but that vibe can be felt sometimes in the HTC forum.

Did you turn on USB Debugging in Settings > Applications > Development?
Install HTC sync. It will install the correct driver to get adb to work
If you are only wanting to enable non market app install, superoneclick will do the job perfectly.
1-Install HTC sync to get appropriate USB drivers installed.
2-Connect phone to PC with USB cable and set it to charge only when asked by the phone which choice you want to make.
3-Put phone in debugging mode.
4-Run superoneclick as administrator.
5-Run the root for universal.
6-When that finishes click on the button to enable non market apps and let it do its thing.
7-Once all of this is complete you can disconnect your USB cable.
8-Now shut your phone all the way off then restart.
You should now be able to click on any APK file in estrongs file explorer and install it with no problems. This does not root your phone but does enable the ability to install non market apps. Also, shutting the phone all the way down and restarting may not be necessary but that is the way that I did it and it worked flawlessly.
There still will not be a setting in app management to enable non market apps but they will install after following this procedure.
Now, go and have some fun with all those apps you have stashed but couldn't install beforehand.

[Q] Sorry, I'm new...

OK...I've read the Wiki and the Glossary, I've searched the forums, I've been obsessively reading this forum for a week, and I still have some very basic questions that I'm hoping someone can either point me to a link or just drop some info for me. I know many of you have been at this since the Dawn of Android, but sometimes I feel like I'm walking into my first day of med-school when everyone else has been here for 5 years. Assume for a moment that I am a tabula rasa where the rest of you are now writing in the margins of a dense technical manual. Because that's what it feels like for me.
First, some background info: I want to learn how to do all this stuff, but this phone was expensive! I don't want to break it. So I'm cautious. I'm not a programmer but I'm not technically inept. I am good at following directions. I don't panic when things go wrong. So I think I can root, flash, and all the fun stuff that comes with having an Android device. But I have some questions that are still unanswered. I'll try to be as concise as possible (too late, I know):
1) I have the SPH-D720 model. I see rooting guides for the I9020 but not the SPH-D720. Will those other guides work for my device? I've seen other people ask this same question get sent to BuglessPete's guide so I'm assuming so, but I want to be sure.
2) I know that GRJ90 and 2.3.5 just came out. My phone is updated to both. It looks like most of the root guides are still referring to 2.3.4 or 2.3.3. Should I wait until someone releases an updated 2.3.5 guide, or is the method still the same?
3) Backups...these are different than saved settings, yes? So when I root my phone (which apparently requires unlocking the bootloader now) I'm going to lose all of my apps/themes/settings, right?
4) Do any of the developers offer tech support?
I now throw myself to the mercy of the masses, prepared for flames, but hoping for help.

It's the same.
- fastboot oem unlock
- flash a custom recovery for your device (crespo4g) using fastboot
- boot into CWM, mount system and flash the su binary

No change unless you are trying to flash a modified boot.img for adb remount (this is not necessary if you merely want root access)

Yes, fastboot oem unlock wipes everything, including the SD card.
Thanks. So a follow up question then:
Is it possible to back up all of my settings and whatnot, and then quickly put them back after rooting the phone? No biggie if not, and since all of my contact info is on Google that sync happens automatically.
Another question - when I'm installing the sdk, do I need all the other stuff that it automatically selects or can I dump all that and just download the USB driver package?

You could use something like titanium backup, but watch what you restore as some things cause issues.

Awesome. I'm taking the leap now! So far, nothing screwed up...
So...I can't get the correct driver installed. In all the guides it says I should have the Bootloader Interface listed as the driver. But that is not one of my options - Allgamer's guide says there should be 3 choices, but I only have 2:
Android ADB Interface
and
Android Composite ADB Interface
How do I choose the Bootloader Interface?
You need to be in the bootloader on the phone I believe. I am new to the nexus s so I am not 100 percent sure.
Didn't work from the bootloader either - still showing Android ADB Interface.
I guess I'll uninstall everything and start from scratch.

[TOOL]Easy Root for the Inspire

ok so i know one of the most important things everyone needs for a device is root and s-off. without that no roms or kernels or any of the good stuff. so, i usually use the cyanogenmod guide. but with all the commands you have to use it can be a little intimidating for some people new to rooting. so to help with this, i have taken the guide for root from the cyanogenmod wiki and rolled it up into a nice little batch file you can use to root your inspire. i have not been able to test this since my inspire is already rooted so as always use at your own risk. all it is is all the commands put together so it can be easier for newer members. so here is how to get this to work. also credit goes to the people over at cyanogenmod who have made the guide.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF THIS CAUSES DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE.
1. You must have adb installed and running. you also need to have it in C:/android-sdk-windows or you can edit the first line with notepad or move the folder.
2. You must have already downgraded your phone to the 1.32.405.6 firmware.
3. Your device must be connected to your computer and have usb debugging enabled.
4. open the zip provided and in the folder are all of the files nessicary for this to work. unzip them into the platform tools directory so they can be easily accessed.
5. extract the Root file to your desktop.
6. Run the file
7. look in the window and find the 3 md5 sums.
a)if the 2nd and 3rd md5's match you have achieved root/s-off
b) if the 1st and 3rd match you have not downgraded sucesfully or the firmware is to high
c) if none match don't reboot and go to #G2ROOT for help.
also, if this does not work for you please tell me and will try to fix it.
Has anyone tried this? If so can you please post your results?

i would have to say that until this is tested by the dev that anyone looking to root and s-off their device should use the ace hack kit. it is a one step process anyone can do.
@ stumpy
you can revert your device to stock using the factory s-on tool here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208507
so please test this so it can help people root and please keep up the good work.

i dont get why it would need testing. it uses a method that already works and i have used,i just made it kind of a 1-click thing so it would be easier. if you look at the guide i linked and look at the file its the same exact commands.
Good work dude!!
Seriously? This is not an easy root method. Ace Hack Kit has already spent the last 7 months perfecting this method and it is sound. All you need to do with Ace hack kit is:
1. Purchase Phone
2. Enable USB debugging
3. Download Ace Hack Kit
4. Plug phone into computer and run Option 1. Done
No downgrade. So its complete stock with root and it creates your gold card in the process so it doesn't get easier than that. Also unroot is part of the program and it let's you choose which RUU that was released for Inspire to unroot back to. Also you can flash any of the stock radios all in one program.
Are you aware that Attn1 has already built a program that is now "THE" Inspire 4G root/unroot program?
Agreed, there are many ways to root a device. The Hack Kit is the standard and most simple way to root/unlock your device. I am sure some one may find this handy but we really don't need another thread on how to do this and its really not development related. Also a bit of advice always test something to make sure it works before posting it.

Root HTC One X

Ok i struggle with rooting devices if there wasn't a easy mode tool my kindle Fire first gen wouldn't be rooted. Only way i found on the forums to root a AT&T HTC One X with 318 firmware OS 4.1.1, Linux was needed. I'm not looking to put another rom on it if i lose HDMI output reason being i want to root is to use ARunchained so my phone works with my app radio 3 atm its a unsupported device and the pioneer app doesn't work with my phone only mirrors to the radio leaving me to hold my phone as i drive to control stuff (i have ibolt dock but the radio doesn't see it when on the dock). Anyway is there a windows route of rooting my device and a tutorial?

The last of the 3 worked (thank you ) but now i still need to root, these tools/methods were supposed to root but far as i got was bootloader unlocked and even says that on fastboot screen tampered/unlocked.
Is there any simple root method i can do? my clockwerk recovery won't run says i need root access so i know its not rooted even superuser app says binaries are out of date but errors out on updating in either recovery mode or plain install. Any advice?

Because these forums are sloppy to navigate and too many threads every thing is buried, makes things hard to find.

Agreed. Come on man, how is this forum hard to navigate? Of the clearly labelled forum sections, you thought "Themes and Apps" would be the appropriate place? Really???
Its clear you need to research and learn a lot more before you should do any more fiddling with your device. Asking for a "simple method" such as a toolkit or one-click is no replacement for proper learning and understanding. Such methods can get you in a lot of trouble; as they enable you enough to do major damage, but don't give you the skills or knowledge to fix it.

[Q] Root/Custom Rom Help LG LW690 (Optimus C)

Hello,
I am new to the forums and android in general. Anyways, I am wondering if any one could advise me on the best steps to root and update my oldish android phone. It is currently on android 2.2.1 and has no support for 2.2.3 which is why I believe I need a custom rom.. I have looked thru numerous threads and sources but have yet to find a method i fully understand and trust, as i hear it.. you guys are very helpful and i am hoping that is true cause im about to pull my hair out at this point
Thanks in advance for any help, its appreciated very much.
Its great that you are showing interest in this. (Edited out, the device is stated in title xD).
Rooting shouldn't be as hard at installing a custom ROM. Older devices are rarely supported nowadays, unless it's really popular like the HTC Wildfire or something.
The best way to root your Optimus C is by using GingerBreak. Many users that have your device use that.
Info on other useful guides (rooting, cwm,ROMs) go here - http://androidforums.com/optimus-c-all-things-root/

Thanks for taking the time to repond/help. Anyways, after some more research I think I found a easy root solution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13086954
This method seems both easy and very sraight forward. Could any one please confirm? Id just like a lil insight before taking the plunge. lol
Note* I would link the posts stating this does work to gain root access but i cant post outside links untill i have 10 posts on XDA.
Don't worry, the root method should work just fine.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Ok, got it rooted
The next step would be to download rom manager and make a custom recovery using clockworkmod?
Btw~ incase someone is confused in the future. The root procedure was a few simple steps.
Before doing these steps make sure usb debugging is active. Also temp disable your anti-virus as it will flag the apk as a virus, This is a false positive.
1. Download the file from the first post in the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049944. (the easy way for me "since i don't have a usb cord" was to click the QR code link on the first post and scan it with one of the many free qr scanner apps from the play store.
2. Navigate to the download and install the APK.
3. Open Gingerbreak.
4. Click "root" and wait for your device to reboot. Thats all  "if the process takes more then ten minutes reboot your device and run it again"
5. You can go ahead and uinstall/delete the apk once you have sucessfully rooted.
The next step would be to download and install the devices custom recovery.
Don't just install any, again go to that site I had provided you with earlier that have the stock and custom .imgs with steps on how to install it.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Ok so.. I have a problem, I was about to setup a custom recovery when all of a sudden Super User decided to update and now im a little lost. I have still have root acess and all of my root only apps are working perfectly fine. but every time i use a root app or reboot my phone since the SU update i get a message saying my binary files need to be updated. I try to update them and it fails every time, I have looked though a few threads and the only fix i could find was to use busybox installer. But.. busybox will not install on my device. How do i go forward with this? I don't want to mess anything up.. specially since i just thought i had it all figured out. :crying:
Nevermind, I guess i found a decent work around, I uninstalled the update and forced it to not auto update. I don't know if this is a bad practice but it seems to have solved the issue.
I like LG' phones. I am using LG P500 and very like...:good::angel:
