Questions before I get this phone - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi,
I am planning to get this phone from a friend. It is the S2 From Rogers. Couple of questions:
1. Im getting it for $160 CDN. Good deal? No contract, whatever and in 9/10 condition
2. Is this phone really that bad compared to S2 i9100 which I had before?
3. Can I flash the AT&T ROMs here without a hitch on the rogers S2?
Thanks

Make sure it's the SGH-i727R rather than just the S2.
Only one I can answer is 3 - Rogers users here have not reported any issues.

According to Wikipedia, Rogers only sells 2 models:

}
And I do not think they sell "Just the S2" because i9100 is out of question

could someone please help?

Yes, I know. It has a keyboard. Do you mind answering my other 3 questions please?

If it has a physical keyboard, it's not the i727, which means it's not the same as the AT&T version.

Need a phone recommendation

Okay, I have searched for several weeks and would like a recommendation.
I currently have a Kaiser (AT&T Tilt). I have tried several ROMs with the phone over the past few years, but I clearly need to replace my phone. I live in an area that practically eliminates having any carrier other than AT&T or Verizon. The service with Sprint & T-Mobile is terrible.
I would like a phone running Android. I have tried the Kaiser port and enjoyed using it more than any ROM I have tried. I am fully aware that this poses a problem, as neither AT&T or Verizon currently have an Android phone.
As far as I know, I have three options ...
Purchase a T-Mobile phone (G1 or MyTouch) and use it on AT&T, giving up any hope of using the 3G network.
Purchase the Google Dev phone and use it on AT&T, again giving up any hope of using the 3G network.
Purchase a Rogers G1, pray for a root kit, and hope that it works correctly on AT&T's networks.
Is there anything I am missing? I'd really like to upgrade in the near future, but as far as I see I'm between a rock and a hard place.

I'd take the Hero in a heartbeat ... but is there any way to get one in the US before late fall/early winter?
Not sure about that
But you can always buy it from overseas

Unlocking Blaze

Will this method work for blaze?
How to unlock SGS 4G or Vibrant 4G (IMEI Problems fixed)[Updated 11-19-11]
If not can someone explain? If the offsets are wrong, that's understandable, but if this technique can still work, I'd be willing to post the difference in bytes once my phone is unlocked.

I didn't understand how he unlocked it and if possible, can you post the details to unlock Samsung Galaxy Blaze S 4G
He did not.... its fake.. and cost $
It cost money the software is free but the cable and box cost money. He is posting this everywhere. Which is pretty much spamming.

Got it. Moderators should block him.
This site is purely for knowledge, not for selling spams.
Does any of you guys know computer programming. I am looking for someone who can make an android emulator, something that can work as a real android phone, and also make the virtual modem ports etc. This emulator should be able to be customised to be an htc phone, samsung phone etc.
If we can do this, then I have a way to unlock almost any phone on earth. maybe 70-80% of unlockable phones (for FREEE)
ideas ideas pls ....
*by the way, am unlocking skyrockets for cheap (at the moment, maybe free soon).

AT&T Sucks

The AT&T Galaxy S3 got 4.1.1 today, even though it came out months after our One Xs. What's the hold up AT&T?

Samsung is a little better with their updates. Nothing against HTC, but it seems to me that they've got some delays on their ends pushing the update to the carriers.
Granted AT&T has their issues as well

Not so much. All of my friends with Galaxy S2s had to wait forever to get ICS. I'm pretty sure the hold up here is AT&T.

Didn't we just lock two of these threads?
AT&T plays favorites with the sgs3, so I guess it makes sense that hoxl will get update after the sgs3 in addition to after the release of the hox+
Here we go again...

[Q] some questions before buying online

what's the difference between various letters after n915? i read about brand versions, so, I assume:
n915a - at&t version
n915s - sprint version
n915t - t-mobile version
but n915g, n915, n915f? is there also a verizon version or any other brand/no-brand shoud i become aware?
i come from an european no brand s4 gt-i9505, i'd like to buy a compatible (if possible no brand too) note edge.
and, another question, is there knox technology in this phone too? and if it is, can i root/flash/mod it without lost warranty?
thanks in advance
...well i guess i was right don't buying it.

many thanks, useful and friendly users!
You definitely don't want the Verizon version n915v.
T mobile and AT&T have gsm phones, but you'll have to look at which can be unlocked.
I would ask on the note 4 forums since it is similar and you'll get more views there.

Right now the only GSM version that has root (if you are buying a US carrier branded device), is the T-Mobile version.

Sprint or t-mobile?

I have a question, I recently bought a Sprint Galaxy Note 5 and I had it unlocked and I'm currently using MetroPCS on it with no problems. I have the device rooted and have custom TWRP on it. I am new to all this and basically my question is when I downloaded the XDA app it identifies my phone as a T-Mobile Galaxy 5? So what I'm asking is 1 are the custom roms carrier specific? And 2 does putting another carrier on the phone change the phone? I tried putting the sick as hell ROM on last night. It installed okay but then got stuck into boot loop. Luckily I had to stock firmware. flashed it odin3 and I had to re root the phone. I want to add a custom ROM but don't know which one to pick for my Sprint Galaxy Note 5 can anybody help me with figuring this out?

Yes it does you are not suppose to do that. You need to flash a custom rom that is compatible with ur build or version..
