Need a phone recommendation - General Questions and Answers

Okay, I have searched for several weeks and would like a recommendation.
I currently have a Kaiser (AT&T Tilt). I have tried several ROMs with the phone over the past few years, but I clearly need to replace my phone. I live in an area that practically eliminates having any carrier other than AT&T or Verizon. The service with Sprint & T-Mobile is terrible.
I would like a phone running Android. I have tried the Kaiser port and enjoyed using it more than any ROM I have tried. I am fully aware that this poses a problem, as neither AT&T or Verizon currently have an Android phone.
As far as I know, I have three options ...
Purchase a T-Mobile phone (G1 or MyTouch) and use it on AT&T, giving up any hope of using the 3G network.
Purchase the Google Dev phone and use it on AT&T, again giving up any hope of using the 3G network.
Purchase a Rogers G1, pray for a root kit, and hope that it works correctly on AT&T's networks.
Is there anything I am missing? I'd really like to upgrade in the near future, but as far as I see I'm between a rock and a hard place.

I'd take the Hero in a heartbeat ... but is there any way to get one in the US before late fall/early winter?

Not sure about that
But you can always buy it from overseas

Unlocking Blaze

Will this method work for blaze?
How to unlock SGS 4G or Vibrant 4G (IMEI Problems fixed)[Updated 11-19-11]
If not can someone explain? If the offsets are wrong, that's understandable, but if this technique can still work, I'd be willing to post the difference in bytes once my phone is unlocked.

I didn't understand how he unlocked it and if possible, can you post the details to unlock Samsung Galaxy Blaze S 4G
He did not.... its fake.. and cost $
It cost money the software is free but the cable and box cost money. He is posting this everywhere. Which is pretty much spamming.
Sent from my SGH-T769 using XDA Premium App
Got it. Moderators should block him.
This site is purely for knowledge, not for selling spams.
Does any of you guys know computer programming. I am looking for someone who can make an android emulator, something that can work as a real android phone, and also make the virtual modem ports etc. This emulator should be able to be customised to be an htc phone, samsung phone etc.
If we can do this, then I have a way to unlock almost any phone on earth. maybe 70-80% of unlockable phones (for FREEE)
ideas ideas pls ....
*by the way, am unlocking skyrockets for cheap (at the moment, maybe free soon).

call ATT they legally have to unlock it if your account is in good standing. They are usually nice about it. I did it through their online chat. make sure you have the last 4 digits of the SSN of the account holder.

Hi,
You can unlock your Atrix using unlock codes!!! Unlocking using codes is easy and also safe!!! There are may online sites that offer these codes. Personally i would suggest Simpleunlocking.com , here they provide best unlocking service at reasonable price!!! After unlocking your phone, you can use it with any GSM network!!!!

Dude, less sugar. Really. You type like a chihuahua barks.
But seriously, I've known people who have had really good results with these sites. I've also known people who get burned with bogus codes or outright nothing at all, no support, no nothing. I'd just call AT&T...you at least KNOW that they have access to the information that you need.

I feel like using two different phones (among other things) creates a variable that messes with the test. Hasn't anyone watched Mythbusters? Gosh.

Well point was to use one phone thats on the 4g lte network and one on the xlte network. I doubt using both at same time does anything since im sure thousands of other people nearby were on their phones in los angeles as well. Plus each phone was on a totally different account if one would think it might have any effect if they were on same account.

No I understand, I was just pointing out that there are quite a few variables in this test that aren't accounted for. It's an interesting result but there's so many variables they didn't bother controlling and a bunch that are essentially out of their control that make the test fundamentally flawed.

[Q] some questions before buying online

what's the difference between various letters after n915? i read about brand versions, so, I assume:
n915a - at&t version
n915s - sprint version
n915t - t-mobile version
but n915g, n915, n915f? is there also a verizon version or any other brand/no-brand shoud i become aware?
i come from an european no brand s4 gt-i9505, i'd like to buy a compatible (if possible no brand too) note edge.
and, another question, is there knox technology in this phone too? and if it is, can i root/flash/mod it without lost warranty?
thanks in advance
...well i guess i was right don't buying it.

You definitely don't want the Verizon version n915v.
T mobile and AT&T have gsm phones, but you'll have to look at which can be unlocked.
I would ask on the note 4 forums since it is similar and you'll get more views there.

Right now the only GSM version that has root (if you are buying a US carrier branded device), is the T-Mobile version.

8T with ROMS & Verizon

I'm looking at getting an 8T but my interest in flashing roms is too great. I've read through a few threads about roms not working on Verizon.
Is this still an issue? I need to have phone service (obviously). Would I be happy in being able to use various ROMS while maintaining Verizon service? 5g even?
Anyone could give insight?
5G doesn't work on any ROM with VZW even though the phone supports the 5G nsa Low bands. I've even tried forcing the phone into 5G via the programming menu. Verizon simply won't allow it for non certified phones. The phone tries over and over and eventually loses all service until you reset the radios.

Verizon 5G does work on this device, following this guide here. Source: My carrier is Verizon. But I as well have tried ROMs, and Verizon does not work on any I have tested. Quite disappointing.
EDIT: Verizon does work on the latest LineageOS and HavocOS versions.
