HEY..try this...it might work ..and TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Use Root Explorer
At the top right hand corner switch from mount r/o to r/w
Go to Systems/build.prop
At the bottom of build.prop text file add this line;
ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps=10
save, mount r/o
Reboot
:good: Hope this works!

Go to Engineer Mode and increase the level.

Just go in to engineer mod by dialing *#*#3646633#*#* and set audio level but don't set more than 150....otherwise it will damage you're speaker. If you want to changer the speaker sound or Media sound you can do that in here also.
Note: I don't know whether this will work on unrooted phones because I tried this only in my rooted micomax a110.

Just go in to engineer mod by dialing *#*#3646633#*#* and set audio level To 155 its Stable im Use That On Many Times Ago

[Q] Minimum volume too high... I know, silly.

But seriously, this wasn't an issue before JB. I listen to music at night with my headphones on, to drown out my husband's snoring. Before (I think before the JB update, but not positive), I could put it on a very low volume, and I'd barely hear it. This was great, as it didn't wake me up when a louder song came on.
Since upgrading to JB (again, I think that's when it started), the volume "slider" has specific notches and can no longer be set to any volume along the spectrum. The lowest "notch" is too loud at night and keeps waking me up.
Anybody know of an app or setting or something that would revert this back to a free sliding volume switch, where I could go so low, almost to the point of barely hearing it? I was startled nearly out of my pajamas last night, when Van Morrison screeched something in the middle of a relatively sedate song.
Thanks in advance!

if you have CWM installed i can fix that for you..
I haven't noticed a difference in volume since the update, but I never have the volume that low. You could just get headphones with inline volume controls to decrease the volume.
I never even used ics on this tablet so I don't know either..

Edit it how? Looking at the file, which is in the system/etc folder for those wondering, it is fairly non-intuative. What would you change to reduce the volume ?

CWM lets you install/change things on your tablet that the Company don't normally allow.. I have a sound mod that you could install if you havd cwm installed..
Noozxoide .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111763
This is a loud/ sound mod i enhanced... you can look at the review video in the link to see how it works.. I notice a big difference when using it and this mod works with any app on your tablet not just music players.. There is a version in the Playstore but doesn't work correct so i enhance it with some mods there is also a Equalizer included to lower or raise volume if needed..

And this would allow me to make the minimum volume lower? Everything I've been looking at is all about making things louder.

Sorry i read this wrong.. i thought you wanted it louder.. but yes you can still use the equalizer with this and set everything low so the volume will also be lower.. and when you need that extra boost it will be there also...
install the market version and turn down the eq settings might help.. You dont need CWM with this version.. you have to download it because the tablet is incompatible with it in the playstore.. once installed open the app and click on app to open it..
the top option is for your headphones
the middle option is for the tablet speakers
the bottom is for bluetooth

Thanks for providing this. I installed it and have no idea what to do with it. I know I have to select the first option, but after that I'm lost. And I don't notice any changes in sound with the headphones on, when I change any of these settings. Any idea what I might want to change to get lower minimum volume?
Edit: I selected this as my MusicFX option, under my Sound settings.

I was having the same problem...i was even regretting buying the phone because i cant even go out without seeing like 3 missed calls because the sound is so low!
anyway i am not rooted yet so this is how i did it
go to engineer mode by going to your number dialer and entering the following code without quotes
"*#*#3646633#*#*"
Be sure to enter the * and the # correctly.
if you have entered it right then the phone will automaticaly take you to engineer mode.
the fourth option or so will be "Audio"
click on it and then select Loudspeaker mode
at the bottom you should see something like value is 0-140 and below that Max vol. 0-160
change the max volume from whatever it is to 145 or below. you can go to 150 but the sound quality is bad and even if it sounds good dont do it cause it might damage the speaker. Im doing 145 and its perfect.
once you have decided on the number click set and then try calling your phone up
hope that helped.

[MOD] Amplified volumes for Xperia Z1 Compact KK 4.4.4

As we all know the volumes on the XZ1C are very low especially the loudspeaker , feels bad when your are on Call or Music with loudspeaker and when the Mic sensitivity is low when the phone is not near the mouth.
I have done some changes in Mixer_Path.xml which helped to increase volumes.
Hope that helps Z1C owners who need only some boost in sounds rather than third party custom sound mods.
Device must be on stock KK rooted and this also may work on XZ1
INSTRUCTIONS:
PLACE THE MIXER_PATHS.XML FILE IN SYSTEM/ETC DIRECTORY WITH 0644(RW-R--R--) PERMISSIONS AND REBOOT
Hit Thanks if you liked it
I'm on lasted Stock KK,Rooted + Odex, but i cannot flash this mod via TWRP.

Hi! Would you care to prepare one XML without the loudspeaker's modification? It's distorted on 60% already.
The headphones's volume is much better though, thanks!

Speaker section in that XML is what impacts the call loudspeaker and music loudspeaker together.
Let know what you want !!
I tried to go through the xml but I can't find the speaker section to change the values.
All I need is what I said earlier: stock loudspeaker volume, because it is distorted around 60% volume already. Thanks!

Noo, I need something inbetween
The headphones are loud enough now, and I like it. I'd want the loudspeaker on stock volumes as it gets distorted. Help is much appreciated

Better, thanks very much!
Thanks for this, this phone is now perfect, headphone volume is spot on, I don't know if the speaker is a bit to loud though, on full volume the phone is vibrating with the sound and u can actually feel the air being blown out of the speaker grill! In the 2nd file u posted above is the headset volume still the same and just speaker a bit lower?

Adjust the sound?

Wondering if it is possible to adjust the sound in speaker on the phone that you put to your ear at.
Think it's too much treble in the sound.
Is there any setting in the phone or must I download some app?
If you're rooted, you can choose to edit the values yourself, or flash a mod...
But that's weird, because the calls sound fine on the stock firmware. Perhaps something to do with the ear piece?

The earpiece work as it is supose to, the problem is that I havet very sensitive hearing. So I need a more smooth sound. That why I need to turn down treble ä.
Ahh, you'll mostly need root access then for changing the volume levels, and if that's not possible I'll suggest a rom which perhaps has that function built in

Nougat [32.4.A.0.160] [.33] Stereo Soundmod [Volume/Headphones Boost] - Xperia Z5P

Requirements:
1. Root
2. X-plore or any other file manager with root access
Procedure:
1. Extract and replace "mixer_paths.xml" in root/system/etc
2. Change the permissions to rw-r--r--
3. Restart your mobile
Note:
I won't be responsible if anything goes wrong.
I'm also providing the stock xml file if you want to revert back to the original settings.
Thanks to AndroPlus for providing custom kernel & recovery for the Z5P Dual.
***Version 2 added with sound from both speakers in speaker mode during a voice call***
Thanks!
As soon as I want to go full volume the music stops. I use music player app with podcast and I let the music play as soon as the aux cable plugs in.

It seems like it goes off automatically because of security? Maybe because the device "thinks" I'm using headphones and it will damage my ears when I set the volume this high. I'm using the aux cable for in my car.

i just tested your soundmod, i think the speaker's have a hardware-security-function because at full volume the speaker's are about 2 sec loud and then somehow again a bit more quiet something like a protecting feature, can't say if it is software-limited or hardware-limited.

Can you take a screenshot of the settings you changed? That way, people can change them on their own until they find the best setting for their phone and earbuds
Is your Mod is Stereo also for Incoming call ringtones ?
I Mean is Ringtone sound comes from both speaker for incoming Call & Notifications Sound ?
Yes, both speakers play the ringtone. Sound from the bottom speaker is louder than the top one.
