Use 4-EXT recovery and enable Smart Flash option to flash ROMS without S-OFF
Ensure u take nandroid backup, and update to 3.33 firmware before flashing.

thank u
i will try
Just do an S-OFF, it's a very easy thing to do. And will definitely make your flashoholic life much easier
I did and it took me like 10 mins to complete the whole thing.
Btw youb should try albinoman887's CyanogenMod 10.1 Jellybean 4.2.2 - KANG it's really good one. Also search for Dragunkorr ROMs on droidevs site, he's got some of the best non-sence JB ROMs with tablet mode, dpi per app, cm+aokp+other tweaks - nice stuff to play with.
Good luck

Hey all,
I'm complete noob about flashing. When I had GB - that was quite simple, but now I'm on last official ICS stock from HTC, and I'm totally angry for this. This rom it's just crap. I want to flash to a custom rom, and I don't know how on ICS, there is any solution? Noob proof? I want to change to some stable, smooth, and maybe non-sense rom? Can some1 help me? Will be very nice, if this rom will have wifi/bt switches in quick settings, and auto sys-updates (ota)

Hi,
Are you still s-off?
If so,then backup your stuff, superwipe, and install a ROM from HERE
Read the [OP] to see what the ROM is all about.
I never been s-off ;(

yes, only this method for now.
read it carefully
I'll be able to back to stock if needed? (To send it to service for ex.). It's really needed to change cid? IS there any custom rom with OTA?
Yes you need to change cid, yes you can change back if needed. Try out a few roms, see what you like they all are really great. It's just a matter of personal preference. I'm not understanding what you mean by Rom with ota. Over the air Rom? Or do you
Mean a Rom like the ota update? If so, yes there is. Hope this helps
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Rom that have system updates over the air, and notifications about update like stock rom, u know, i'm entering preferences > about > check updates.
I can't try few roms... This is my only one phone at now, and I really need it to work, that's why I want to change to some better rom than stock, and that's why I can't try few of them. You know - I don't have time to beeing angry to my current ROM, and also no time to try few of them
No with roms you won't get the ota updates , sorry
There are a lot of good stable roms, what exactly are you looking for?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I'm using beats by grogg Rom, I like it a lot, WiFi hotspot are working great. What is it you don't like about your current Rom and maybe we can recommend one you will like I'm sure there's a Rom here you will be happy with!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Hm, I don't really know... I like Sense, but maybe clear ICS have better features? If yes - I don't want Sense. I really liked quick settings when on GB rom, now I don't have wifi/bt switches, but I want to. I don't know what's more... I've never had any senseless ROM. But most important - I want ALL functions to be working. Sense 4... ahm, I fall in love with Sense 4
Help me to choose, pls. Battery is important too, and smooth. But I think smooth is very good on most future ROMS
Any1?

You can get s-off with the juopunutbear method. Which now does not need the htc dev-off, so htc does not know you are tinkering with your phone.
Returning your phone completely to stock can be done, but from what i've read it can be tricky as you must become S-ON again. (however, there is a unbrickable team here).
There is a way to flash with S-ON but it requires HTC DEV unlock, and for you to manually flash the boot.img, and keep the stock kernel. A noob myself i went for the whole S-OFF, lets bring it on experience.
From what I read on a local forum in my country, Ordroid gives you the sense 4 experience. And the developer regularly updates his / her rom.
Then again there is sense 4 from Baadnewz (insertcoin) and many more. A popular sense 3.6 rom is ARHD.
You can flash different kernels to increase your battery life.
As for the vanilla ICS, you can either go for CM9 (respect to Vorbeth) or the AOKP. The latter is based on the cm9 nightlies (i believe). I run such a rom. I love the vanilla looks and the added tweaks.
However, I believe recent nighlies have worse battery life. And there is an audio routing issue. For full reliability you might consisder those sense.
what's vanilla and aokp?
Please help?
So, I'm using Fallout 5.0 and it's ok, but I have a gapps.google.com error all the time and it's not working well at times. I wanted to go back to the stock ROM and just enjoy it until I buy a newer phone. But I saw that to get the stock ics ROM you have to update the HBOOT to keep root access. I really am scared to do that as it seems to really do nasty things if I screw up.
So I'm trying to find the best ROM that is closest to the stock ICS ROM that was realeased. What are my choices?

But you will have to upgrade your hboot first.
Yep but anyway, why staying on the outdated revolutionary hboot when most roms actually require hboot 2.00 2002 or 7.00.1002/2002 ?
And 6.98... is write protected.

Most Roms?! No. Ice cream saga, miui v4, stock ics. Only those Roms require a newer hboot. All other Roms ignore the separate /system/lib partition.

Just flash away. It will install the kernel for you. If you want to add Elemental, I'd suggest using flash gui app. It's never failed me. Also, make sure you download the ElementalX1.5. I had issues with tweaks force closing on anything less than. 1.5.
If you want to ensure Viper installs correctly, get the flash gui app and follow the wizard. Then point the app to the viper zip, then flash it. Manually go into recovery (twrp) and wipe everything, including system and do a factory reset all inside twrp.
Follow the install instruction and your going to then love you're phone even more

Thank you for the response..I finally just broke down and went balls in through twrp and found out I was completely over thinking it...aroma installer is amazing..this phone is amazing I'm in heaven no lag glitch anything...just wow

Don't do it! It will re-flash the HBOOT, etc. You can get the official ICS through
http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
Desire S, version 4.0
Desire S HTC WWE RUU N/A v4.0 404.0 MB 14.01.401.2
Run the RUU up to just before the actual install step, then find the zip package in your temporary files, copy it elsewhere and exit the RUU installer. You can then modify this to have the hboot you want, to protect your S-OFF (either the ENG version 2, or the version starting 7), then put it on the root of your SD card as PG88IMG.zip and reboot to fastboot.
This will still wipe all the data on your phone.
I would strongly suggest you just flash an ICS or JB ROM from xda instead though.

You can use it, no problem, but as paulie-uk said, it's better to install custom rom than stick to official software. If you have your bootloader unlocked, than you're ready to go.

First of all you should check if you have Sony or Hitachi panels - check this thread for instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943524 If you have Sony panel, then you're ready to go without additional preparations.
You can try blindanddumb's or flinny's CM 10.1-based roms. They still have some minor issues (especially if one has Hitachi screen panel) like problems with led notifications lights, but as a whole they're smooth and stable. Maybe one of the more experienced custom rom users will say something more about those two, or will propose others. Myself, I'm a happy user of bnd CM 10.1

I also would like to revert to 235 official. I've used pacman 22, changed to fullysamsung 101, sagasation and now pacman 23& this one it rebooted once and drops frames when recording in 720p. What rom u recomend me custom that works flawless and is rooted?

There is no flawless rom. Try blindndumb cyanogen port. I've been using it for more than two months as my daily driver and except for some minor issues it's very good - fast, stable and with great battery life.
Thanks ive just bought a 2nd hand HTC Sensation running Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on a Viper S 5.1.0 rom.. its my 1st Android, and my 1st smartph, i know a little about techy stuff but definately no expert, so im not quite sure of the difference between Firmware and Rom (or are they the same?) i saw a link for Pacman something something, was a firmware packer for Kitkat, but is that a ROM? (i quite like the tweaks with Team Venom) so im pretty sure thats not the way to go.. id like to keep all the venom but have the chocolatey goodness of Kitkat.. if anyone could give me some feedback and tips or yes/no that would be awesome.. If you've got sense 5 you won't need to change the firmware. Do you know how to get into recovery mode if so after you download a kk Rom go to recovery and press backup. This will back up your sense 5 Rom incase you want to go back to it. When it's complete go back and press wipe all except sd card. Then go back and press choose zip and then find your download file. The kk zip file you downloaded should be there. Press install and wait. Once installed you have to go back and do the same with gapps file which you should have downloaded with your Rom. Once complete go back and reboot your phone then wait few minutes and your kk Rom will be ready to set up and use.

I believe he is asking whether there is a KitKat ROM with Sense. I don't know of any, but if someone knows a few, then they can make a suggestion.
Best rom
I'd recommend SultanXDA CM11, I think it is most stable and best battery life, almost no bugs.
