[Q] keyboard functions - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way to play games on miniclip for example on a tablet, the games require the arrow buttons on a keyboard, any ideas?

I don't know about miniclip games, but, for typing, Perfect Keyboard have the cursor keys (arrows). You have to swipe up on the space key to display them.
Probably also other advanced keyboard app have them.

ScummVM virtual keyboard?

I just loaded ScummVM on my HD2, but it tells me I have to map buttons. For the life of me, I can't bring up the virtual keyboard. Does anyone know how this works?
It needs you to map things to physical buttons on the device not to the virtual keyboard - i usually only need to map the right click action and the button to show / hide the scummvm keyboard / interface..
The pop up will say something like 'Map Right click' you need to scroll down the list and select right click then press the physical button youd like to map.
Hope this helps!
Cheers

Captivate - No D-Pad

Hi All,
I'm looking at getting the Captivate as my first Android phone. I noticed that it doesn't have a D-Pad like the original Galaxy S or a trackball. Is that going to be a problem? Is Android still usable without it?
Thanks for the help,
Josh
The Galaxy S does not have an optical d pad/track pad. It is just a big square button
Swype an and samsung keyboard have directional buttons. No real need for physical ones I can see so far.

emulators?
With the 4 inch screen, I suspect emulators and other games requiring a D-Pad could fit a virtual one at the bottom of the screen. Perhaps a virtual trackpad would work too? A little circle that you swipe your finger over and it acts like an optical trackpad?
For the short while that I had an EVO 4G, I never did think about a D-pad. Before the EVO I had a Samsung Epix and I used the optical pad as D-pad and I was very used to using it in that configuration. The EVO was my first android phone and all of the menus are easily accessible with finger swipes and touches. I did not miss the D-pad at all.
I'll definitely pick up the Captivate. The android experience is so much better than wm6.x.

Some ROMs don't have dpad enabled keyboards, the TrueDvorak Pro keyboard has a nice gesture based dpad. Multilingual keyboard also has a press and hold to access dpad option, like the samsung one.

What press-n-hold Samsung d-pad? I hate the Samsung keyboard but I do need a d-pad sometimes and I don't want to install a third party keyboard (I usually install Full Keyboard though, it has one).

What does that have to do with the Captivate and why did you resurrect an almost year old thread to say it?
Welcome to pretty much all samsung android phones. If you need a d-pad or trackball look elsewhere.
Though most high end HTC, LG and Motos dont have them either.

NOVA

Everybody knows nova from gameloft as it is one of the best android games but I have a question, is there any 3d party software/hack anything to map the keys to physical buttons? I am only interested in the fire button mapped to the camera key on a Motorola Milestone. This would make the game a lot better. Thank you in advance
It should be possible yes, i dont know how much work it would need though
Never knew N.O.V.A was on Android.
Must check it out
I do think that they should add physical button support.
Problem if it comes with Mapping done it would need to be user mapping because of the array of android devices with differet buttons in different places

True, but it could just be as easy as the other apps on the market that enable user-customizable key-mapping. I have a Galaxy S line phone, so no physical keyboard. But coming from an HTC Fuze, I can see why this would be handy
Gameloft
I sent an email to the gameloft team suggesting that this feature should be added. I hope we can all enjoy this feature for their games.

Keyboard dock bindings in FPse Help

I am having trouble setting up the keyboard bindings in FPse. It seems like the only keys that work are the arrow keys, none of the letter keys will work when they are bound to actions.
All of the buttons bind perfectly fine in other emulators like snesoid and gameboid. Does anyone know of a way to get the keyboard dock to bind correctly in FPse ?
Really ? No one else has this problem ? Does anyone else even use the keyboard for FPse ? For me it was one of the major reason I wanted the dock.
Got the same issues in all of Tiger King's emulators
The non-character keys work (dpad, spacebar, shift, alt, etc.) but the letters and numbers don't ;(
Wonder if the 3.1 update fixes this.
I have updated to 3.1 already.

[Q] Looking for an app/widget that I can program custom "keyboard shortcuts"

I would like to be able to save a custom keyboard command, for example, CTRL + /, so that, for example, if I'm using Figma on my touch device (within the browser), I can hit this button and that keyboard shortcut will be "executed". In this instance, for Figma, it would toggle all of the UI and leave just the canvas.
Does such an app/widget exist?

The Figma app should support it, right?
Im not sure about anything else that can trigger UI elements.
Unfortunately I don't have access to the Figma app (it's in closed beta), I'm just trying to use it in the browser

Tried here?
Keyboard shortcuts for Figma
A visual cheat-sheet for the 119 keyboard shortcuts found in Figma
usethekeyboard.com
It has that.
If you have a physical keyboard it mught work.
Thanks Kenora, I'm trying to avoid having to connect physical keyboard .
I'm looking to use Figma in the browser on my Galaxy Tab. I can trigger the Toggle UI shortcut by pressing and holding on the background, but am hoping for a quicker way to trigger that function
