Slim is now working stable on the hercules( a close cousin the the skyrocket) I have been posting slim over on the hercules side for a long time now. I'm just wondering if anyone is interested in a build for the skyrocket? I know there was a problem before but this rom sure is smooth on the hercules. I would of course need testers because I don't have this device. I'm just wanting to share because I don't see any new builds in skyrocket forums. If I get enough interest I will start building for ya'll as well as hercules.
I'm sure there is. There was a lot of action in our old slim bean threads.

I ran the 4.1.2 Slim for a long time and only recently changed. I'm certain there would be lots of interest in a 4.2.2 version of Slim.
OK, I am building now. Please pm me for the link and I will reply with the link when done and uploaded. I don't post untested roms so I need testers that know there way around the skyrocket. I know it works great on my hercules but the same old I am not responsible for a bricked phone etc. etc. I'm guessing prbassplayer had a lot to do with fixing the issue's on this. I don't take any credit for this rom other than figuring out how to compile for our devices. All thanks go to the slim team!
EDIT:If this thread turns into more of a developement thread then by all means mod's please move to proper place and please don't throw rocks at me lol
Why not just shoot the start to finish build instructions to the rookie thread too. That way others can build if they feel up to it.

Hi, I know I haven't contributed much to the community, so I decided to work on something.
I've just finished building a MIUI port for our phone, but I haven't tested it yet. Still in the process of making a nandroid backup right now.
So I was wondering if anybody wanted to help test this or help fix bugs and whatnot. I can't guarantee that this won't brick your phone, sorry.

Cm7 is too buggy to get MIUI good enough for daily. I suggest waiting for cm9 to work on miui 4.0 or even better one of the real time miui porter is working on the T-Mobile sgs2

I got a confirmation from cyanogenmod that the skyrocket and t989 are being worked on currently. So as long as they don't decide to drop us we will be getting cm9 at some point in the future. I posted on a Google+ post of theirs. If you have Google+ go to their page, and then their post for "status update on nightly builds". You will see someone mention the t989 them me mention the skyrocketing followed by a confirmation.

The cyanogenmod guys are pros, they have done this sort of thing for tons of phones. They will get it down for sure, granted they may have to wait for stock ics from Samsung to button a few things up.
I'm guessing it'll be a couple months before they release a beta.
And may not start official work on it until 4.0 is release for the T989 or 727.

They have alpha daily builds for the original s2. And yes I wouldn't expect anything for a month or two. They admitted it being behind where the s2 development is.
Keep an eye out HERE for nightly CM9 builds.

XBoarder did a fantastic job, his was one of the first ROMS I used
I think seanscreamz should be nominated - 3 different Skyrocket ROMS plus CM7.2 -- who else can say they can do all that.

While I love seans work I'm not sure of his credentials when it comes to building code from scratch. His cyanotouchwiz was just a themed and modified version of cm7.2 done by slayher and da_g. I'm currently running one of Sean's roms right now so please in no way think I am putting him down. I just don't know if he is up for the task. He may be though!
I'm with Jo, top, and Eugene honestly. They are the only ones I know of right now that are working on compiling from source right now.

* A small batch of DEDICATED testers for the first build.
* A custom wallpaper maker/TWEAKER of sorts seeing as I have a somewhat base design
* A few to collaborate with who could possibly up the WOW of the ROM, something I know in my beginning state cannot do.
This will be my first ROM, Port or whatever it is you may want to label it.
I am going to try my best to push out updates to go along with the AOKP Builds

Myself and another member were going to work on porting aokp builds but we kinda stopped talking. If you're interested I'd be glad to help not only testing but developing as well. I'm not much of a themer but I'm looking to learn better.

What are you planning on bringing to the table? Wallpapers? Theming touches? Are you planning on providing additional tweaks in you package? What's your plan?
If it's just a unique visual experience, why not focus your pursuit on a theme for one of the ports that are out there?
I will gladly teach you how to build from source...but just really think that a lot of people are jumping onto the "dev" wagon before they have a grasp on what it takes. I guess you will never learn if you don't try...but I think that having a solid grasp on what is needed before you begin is the best plan.

Just make a backup, you can always go back
I've tried both, I prefer SlimBean to be honest.
But be sure BOTH are good, It's a personnal preference.
Also both can support CM10 kernel so :good: to both devs to let us many options!
Both are similar and great
Well slim bean is slimmer than Superlite... So if you want as bare bones as possible. I've tried both and I like slim bean more too. Although now I'm on liquid r2.

I would say the more gapps you load and the more you use your phone between both roms it wouldn't matter...either rom is going to give you the same end result basically

Ive tried them both and I believe it depends on your phone. I have a Samsung Infuse 4g. The CM 10 didnt seem to run as smoothly or as fast as SB. Of course, that was before the "stable" version was released the other day. Slim seems to take up a lot less space (memorywise too.) Im pretty happy with the bean (running 2.9)
Basically they are the same. Im no developer so I dont test all the intricacies but I would consider myself above novice level.
