Qi charger advice, no lights - Nexus 4 Accessories

Does anyone know of a qi charger that has no lights? I want one for the bedside table and don't want any light coming off it, most of the ones I've searched for look like they have some form of led.
Thanks

The orb doesn't have lights.

I'm in the uk, it's not available here

Just put some tape or paint over the led if it bothers you that much.

I know they say that wireless charging is safe but do you really want something emitting electromagnetic waves by your head while you sleep?

blue LED on Desktop dock?

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the blue LED charging indicator?
I use the dock on my nightstand and the light is bright enough to bother my wife and I'm not sure if it's possible to turn it off.
The Samsung Home Desk Home app is installed, but I can't find anything that will allow me to disable the LED.
Obviously I can just put a piece of electrical tape, or some other such thing, over the light, but I like the clean look of the dock.
Any ideas are welcome, thanks for the help.

I have more electrical tape covering lights in my room than you can imagine! Probably the best non-permanent solution.

Then u don't have a dock. Hard to miss, but hardly anything that I'd imagine would keep someone awake at night. I recommend a eyemask\blindfold or prescription for Ambien if you're that sensitive, haha... ;-)

Inductive Chargers for the Touchpad

Does anyone know if the Powermat or the Energizer charging platforms will work with the TP? I was in Target this past weekend and noticed that they were clearanced for 75% off retail price. The idea is nice but I don't want to waste $30 if it won't work.
No neither one will work with your TP. I don't think it would even recognise it was on the charger.

$29.99 + $5 shipping ($35) Used is worse than $36.99 + FS New at same url unless at the time you originally posted there were better prices on used.
Yea why would you not go with the touchstone
I really like my TouchStone. Not plugging in cables, and having a real "home" for my TouchPad when not in use is great. Plus it works with the HP case, something I also really like.

Which case are you talking about? I'd love to be able to charge without having to stretch out my case. I hardly use my touchstone because my folio is starting to get loose.

you could turn it horizontally so gravity doesn't mess with it, or lay it down flat, then put touchpad on top

Pretty much any case as long as it's not too thick (and doesn't have metal between the tp and ts). I have a 'leather' case that works fine sitting on the ts and a tpu form fitting case that also works well. This one is now permanently on the tp and will fit into the leather case but the two together will not allow the tp to charge on the touchstone.
So it seems there are no "3rd party" chargers available?
I want a touchstone, but all the cheap ones are in the US and they don't ship to Australia
In Australia (or anywhere that is willing to ship here) pretty much charges double for the dock ($70?!), and that's not even counting shipping yet.

Long List of Qi Chargers VS Vertical or Hor Dock

First I have seen several lists of Qi chargers for the Nexus 4
I have to ask because either I can't find them, or they were inconsistent
I heard eventually Google Orb will be out. In the meantime, Energizer Pad works (single or triple...although it looks more like double) and it can even work with a small to medium thick case like TPU
I did hear that LG pad didn't work. Then I heard it did. Then I heard it does with a whole lot of beeping
With all that, I do think I would try one, and at this point the Energizer....when you can find them. It seems Amazon did what Google eventually did. Lets you order, but says a month or so before delivery
Would you go that route. You do lose being able to easily look at the screen, like overnight
Or would you get a nice dock like I have always had

My first one is the Energizer. Similar to the Maxell one overseas. And I also have the LG verizon branded one, with the speaker dismantled/destroyed from beeping. To me the beeping was too loud in a relatively quiet office. They both work fine with the iBlason tpu case on. Oh and the Energizer doesn't have any audible beeps like the LG.
Warning on the Energizer. If using this charger, and you have a naked Nexus 4, the phone will slide off because the unit has a slight incline. Just use a tpu case or something like a old screen protector to grip the phone.
The LG unit works and looks better all around IMO. The footprint is smaller. The only negative is that the only way to disable the speaker is to destroy it and the phone gets a bit warmer than the Energizer.
But in the end, both do work.

Thank You for such a quick and nice reply
I am not very technical, except with phones. Why does the charger beep? And how do you disable the beep?
Thank You

The LG charger beeps to confirm that you placed the phone on the pad correctly. There is a visual mark as well on top of the LG unit so I preferred that and because there was no way to disable the beep unless I had to dismantle the pad and cut off the top of the speaker box and remove the silver disk under the top. In other words, there's no option to switch the beeping off.
I used this thread as reference to remove the speaker...well more like stop the beeping:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003137
And just to clarify, the Energizer I have is for the single unit.
I just picked up the LG unit at the local Verizon store yesterday. So far, it seems to be working perfectly. The only time it beeps is when I initially place it on the charger.
I do notice it taking longer to charge than with the stock AC charger, especially when just topping off.
I set it up on an armoire where I always drop my wallet and keys and have to admit that it is pretty cool to just drop the phone on it.
I wouldn't put my hopes in the wireless charging orb by google. I'm sure it'll be sold out in 3 minutes just like the phone.

I think the orb is a mythical creature just like the nexus pogo I waited so long for. I bought the lg charger and dismantled the speaker and it works awesome. Its got good grip and works with my case on. Does get a Lil warm like the previous poster said but not to warm that it worries me.

I'm still waiting on my device to be shipped (and may end up picking one up locally for a small premium) but I've heard the Nokia Lumia charging plate works on/off. I have two that I got that I'll try when I receive mine and report back.
I have the Nokia DT-900 wireless charging plate intended for the Lumia 920. And let me tell you it DOES NOT work well at all. No joke, I think it sucks power out of my phone instead of putting it in. I put it on with a 64% charge and came back an hour and 25 min later and it was at 60%. In the mean time I didn't pick it up, didn't receive any notifications...nothing.
The panasonic tm101 is flat and it finds your phone where you lay it. It has a bright blue light and im not sure it can be turned off. I like it. You can cover it up but i think it is 2nd most expensive to the Oregon Scientific clock.

That's cool. Does it use a motor to move the coil to find the phone? And is it available in the US?
It shipped from Japan with no english manual, purchased on ebay.

The only problem I have with my white Dt-900 pad is when the phone is fully charged and I take it off the charging pad then place it back on I get the intermittent charging. If the Nexus is lower then 90% all is good!

I think there might be a serious quality issue with this model. So disappointed with Panasonic.

DIY LG qi charger dock

So I got the LG WCP-700 charging pad last week and its great but as I use my phone as an alarm clock to I wanted to be able to see the time without picking up my phone off the charger. I decided to make a stand for it. What I decided on doing was making the stand itself out of MDF I cut a recessed hole in the mdf so I could mount the charging pad flat. I then glued another piece of would with an angle on the front to hold the phone where it needs to be on the charger. To make the speaker louder for alarm reasons I used a Bluetooth speaker that I got at bestbuy for $5. I then added an nfc tag to the dock so it will enable Bluetooth, dock clock, and set alarm. I then wrapped everything in carbon fiber vinyl that I got on metrorestyling.com. Let me know what you think.

You could have made the block smaller? Also suggest to apply the same vinyl on the charger itself to give it a more consistent look.
But it is very nice DIY! Love the speaker idea.

I was going to put vinyl on the charger also but I wanted it to be removable for travel purposes. And the block could have been smaller but I don't think it would look right with the speaker behind it. That's why I made it wide. Thanks for the input.

Best Qi Charger from eBay?

I'm looking to spend no more than $15 for a Qi charger, can you recommend one of the cheap Chinese ones from eBay or AliExpress that work well with the Nexus 4?
From Amazon, look up LuguLake Qi-Enabled Wireless Standard Charger. I can't post URLs yet, or else i would post it. It's $18.99USD.
I bought this about 2-3 weeks ago. I use it daily at work. It takes ~1hr longer to charge than just connecting to wall directly, but that's no problem for me personally. It is a bit elevated from the bottom and has a small fan, which does take away a lot of the heat it generates. I recommend leaving the protective cover on the pad itself, it is pretty slick so the phone can slide off if its a bit angled.

I ordered mine from DX. It is now currently 17.99 (23% OFF). Works well, and I have implimented this into my desk. (cut size out, put really thin layer of wood over top, glued back in. It looks like part of my desk now, just put a small outline of where it is with some weak magnets to hold it in place)

I have the same charger as you. Strangely, I have issues with it charging. It charges my phone 2%, then stops. The strange thing is the indicator is green, and the device says that is is charging, but the actual battery number does not increase.
If you have daydream enabled this will happen.

So daydream has to be off to charge on a QI charger?
My daydream was not active, but the setting was actually ticked in settings. Should I turn it off?
