Newt's v2 JB Google Maps and Nav Not Working - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi,
Im running newt's v2 JB 4.1.1 sense 4+ rom. I have a problem where Google Maps and Nav aren't working. I did a quick search on this problem and it seems like a small number of others have this problem too but there isn't a definite fix for it? Could somebody help me out since I need a definite answer or solution. Thank you!

Could somebody please help me out?!

Settings-Location and Security-Credential Storage- User Credentials. GPS Location is a privacy concern. Denyng apps to access this will not let it gather GPS location. Not allowing apps access is the main cause of this.

I'm having the same problem on all jb Roms. So am I suppose to clear all credentials?

I tried to find this "Locations and Security" menu, but I wasn't able to. Not in the phone Settings or in the Maps settings. Where can find this? Thanks!

It may be under settings- location. If not you might be able to run the Rom setup again and allow apps gps access.

Still no solution. Done everything already recommended above. Any other ideas?

From what I've read, most people are just using a 3rd party Nav App.

I used Navigon and I had problems with it losing GPS signal just like Google Nav.

Try flashing different radios and test.

A lot of people are having this problem, a simple solution is to you a different navigation app.
But if you don't like any other app, just click on the compass in the Google navigation app, this will change the view to 2D and facing north. It fixes the crashing problem

If GPS is losing connection with 3rd party apps though, this is a radio issue, try flashing different radios.

3rd party apps do work. just google maps and navigation doesn't work 3rd party apps dont suit my needs though :L

What is the best free GPS app?

Coming from Sprint I used the TeleNav which was FREE and flawless. On ATT i only see their app and Mapquest. Any free, dependable and has turn by turn GPS apps you could recommend?

Dude, Google Navigation is built in and probably one of the best GPS's I've ever used.

Waze, should be the best among the GPS apps in the US.
its uses the internet and the Waze Community to get information about traffic , police and such.
I use Google Navigation. By far the best I've used.

I'd definitely have to agree on Waze. Much more interactive, more customizations along with a beautiful interface.

another vote for Waze. It's like stock navigation made better by other users. If you're even a remotely risky driver, Waze will alert you of cops, road hazards, and better-than-default routes during inclement weather, traffic, or whathaveyou.
I'll say Waze too. Been using it since my HTC Fuze.
I recommend SYGIC, it was useful for me when i didnt have data plan on my phone
Trying out Waze...thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Depending on where i'm going I use Google navigation or waze. Google seems to be more updated so if I'm going somewhere kind of "out there" I use that but if if it's a fairly common place I'll use waze

Google Navigation blue on blue

Hey all, I love the navigation on this guy, he works great. I let my dad use the thing the other day and he wouldn't stop complaining how the planned route and the arrow (you) blend in. Does anyone know how to change that? I don't care how it works, I'm running cm9 and I have no problem messing around with adb or something. Thanks in advance.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
I think you'd be better off trying out a navigation app that has a different scheme. I'm sure in some of them you can change it to your preference. I always use Google Nav so I don't have much info about the different apps out there but someone should be able to recommend one. CoPilot Live seems to get mentioned a lot.
A good one is Waze. But no, GoogleMaps and Google Navigation is not customizable
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I've been using waze. I just like the cleanliness of Google Navigation. Thanks for the suggestions.

No GPS with SyNthetic_aospX 1.0.0-BR7

Please forgive me if this has been asked and solved before. I'm having a problem with GPS locking on this rom only. I tried updating the GPS config file but had no luck locking on. I'm in an area where with other roms I can typically lock onto about 7 or 8 satellites. Any help is greatly appreciated!
You tried gps fix or a-gps apps from the play store?

I did try using GPS Status to "reset" the GPS. It did VERY briefly find two satellites and then they disappeared. I've tried re-downloading the rom, wiping, etc. with no luck. I'm just bummed out cause I really like this rom but no GPS is a no-go for me.
Gps works. Try more apps. Get a fresh download. There are always more things to try.

Thanks guys it is working. While I'm here can I add any T-Mobile wifi calling app for ICS to this rom?

You said it works..are you using an app from the app store, or is it working from the Rom itself? It's my favorite Rom but I rarely use GPS. I just wanna know in case I decide to use it.

I did download GPS Status from the Play Store and I use navigation daily so it's pretty important to me. I don't know why sometimes it seems to see less or more in the same location but I used the turn by turn directions last night just fine. I'll let everyone know if I see any changes but right now it seems good.
I also flashed the Wi-Fi calling and it's working out, thank you. Looking forward to your future projects!

Maps freezes on stock jelly bean

Hi there! I updated to stock jelly bean yesterday and today i noticed that Google maps force closes after a couple of minutes. Do someone else have the same problem?

No one really knows how to fix this issue?
HI,
I've got the same problem. Well... Maps is working fine, but when I use navigation it Force Close....
I tried already to delete all the cache and data, but that didn't fix it.
Does somebody has a solution? Don't really feel like Hard reset.
Hi,
I can confirm I've got the same problem with a UK unbranded phone. I've hard reset the phone with no difference, so I presume it's a bug. I can't post external links but i've come across a similar bug on the EVO 4G LTE.
Crossman
Hard reset didn't work for me too... And yes, it's not a Google maps problem but a Navigator one...

Does 3rd party navigators work? Like navigon, sygic, route66, tomtom etc.
I just tried sygic, but that seems to work as it should be. So it looks like the problem is only with gmaps navigation.

Sygic works for me too. Waze also works. I hope the problem will be corrected with an application update from Google...

navigation keeps crashing on stock jb for me too
hi guys, +1, no problem with ics and now with jelly bean maps (when using navigation) freezes all the time. Makes me wonder how deep is the testing they do in htc before releasing software. This phone is great but it is has been a mess softwarewise since day one.
Has anyone found a fix for this yeat?
Its really annoying,
I believe the same issue exists for the One S and the SGSIII.
I just got my phone back from repair, with this issue included in the faults.
I will test tomorrow morning and report back

Same here
Updated to Jelly Bean over Christmas and no matter what, maps/navigation crashes all of the time. I've seen reports about this happening on other phones, but mainly HTC ones. On the product support forums, someone has delved deeper into this and suggests that it may be running out of memory (he quoted as seeing the maps consume over 114MB).
My phone is a stcok, unmessed with, HTC One S.
Update: HTC tried to reinstall the ruu from jelly bean, but because my phone didn't recognise the usb in fastboot I had to send it in for repair.
my repair sheet stated that the gps was not right and because it was already for 2 hardware repairs sent, they replaced my phone for a new one.
Advice, download the ruu from here and set your phone in fastboot and connect with pc. Run the ruu and see if the problem still exist. If so, sent it back for repair. Make sure you back up your data, because it will wipe your phone.
Succes

Not a ROM bug. This happens on my One S regardless if I'm running Sense or CyanogenMod. Lots of people at the google forums are getting this as well.

Same for me, crash on navigation mode, i flashed JB RUU, format memory, doing factory reset but the problem is already here, we must wait for an update and use other app for now, like waze !
Same Problem Maps works fine but navigation crashes all the time it looks like its a graphics problem because the voice keeps on giving directions after crashing as long as i don't press OK i use navignon so no problem

Change the default language to UK English and leave it like that for a few hours it should fix the force close issues.

Has anyone found a fix for Google search that works for our device. Install the fix to the system/lib, and changing the language temporarily to perform a search are solutions that have only worked short term for me. Any solutions for MMS in hangouts 2.0? I can't get that working consistently on my vs980 either.

Doh... Wish I would have read this before I installed.... The FC is super annoying. I noticed when I first opened the launcher after reboot it said I can say "Ok, Google" but that function doesn't appear to work either.

If you change the default language to uk emglish and leave it like that for a few hours it fixes the force close issues.
There is a video explaining how to fix these issues etc on TK Tech News
Did the article go into the hangouts MMS issue?
