Hi there! I updated to stock jelly bean yesterday and today i noticed that Google maps force closes after a couple of minutes. Do someone else have the same problem?

No one really knows how to fix this issue?
HI,
I've got the same problem. Well... Maps is working fine, but when I use navigation it Force Close....
I tried already to delete all the cache and data, but that didn't fix it.
Does somebody has a solution? Don't really feel like Hard reset.
Hi,
I can confirm I've got the same problem with a UK unbranded phone. I've hard reset the phone with no difference, so I presume it's a bug. I can't post external links but i've come across a similar bug on the EVO 4G LTE.
Crossman
Hard reset didn't work for me too... And yes, it's not a Google maps problem but a Navigator one...

Does 3rd party navigators work? Like navigon, sygic, route66, tomtom etc.
I just tried sygic, but that seems to work as it should be. So it looks like the problem is only with gmaps navigation.

Sygic works for me too. Waze also works. I hope the problem will be corrected with an application update from Google...

navigation keeps crashing on stock jb for me too
hi guys, +1, no problem with ics and now with jelly bean maps (when using navigation) freezes all the time. Makes me wonder how deep is the testing they do in htc before releasing software. This phone is great but it is has been a mess softwarewise since day one.
Has anyone found a fix for this yeat?
Its really annoying,
I believe the same issue exists for the One S and the SGSIII.
I just got my phone back from repair, with this issue included in the faults.
I will test tomorrow morning and report back

Still not solved. It seems something with gmaps. I saw reports about an update which solved the problem. But the latest update of January 17 didn't solve it for me

Same here
Updated to Jelly Bean over Christmas and no matter what, maps/navigation crashes all of the time. I've seen reports about this happening on other phones, but mainly HTC ones. On the product support forums, someone has delved deeper into this and suggests that it may be running out of memory (he quoted as seeing the maps consume over 114MB).
My phone is a stcok, unmessed with, HTC One S.
Update: HTC tried to reinstall the ruu from jelly bean, but because my phone didn't recognise the usb in fastboot I had to send it in for repair.
my repair sheet stated that the gps was not right and because it was already for 2 hardware repairs sent, they replaced my phone for a new one.
Advice, download the ruu from here and set your phone in fastboot and connect with pc. Run the ruu and see if the problem still exist. If so, sent it back for repair. Make sure you back up your data, because it will wipe your phone.
Succes

I'm on jb stock also and my maps works no probs. Did you try uninstall updates, and download from playstore again. Or did you try a different navigation?

Not a ROM bug. This happens on my One S regardless if I'm running Sense or CyanogenMod. Lots of people at the google forums are getting this as well.

Same for me, crash on navigation mode, i flashed JB RUU, format memory, doing factory reset but the problem is already here, we must wait for an update and use other app for now, like waze !
Same Problem Maps works fine but navigation crashes all the time it looks like its a graphics problem because the voice keeps on giving directions after crashing as long as i don't press OK i use navignon so no problem

I've been having major issues with the GPS on my Inspire. I've tried multiple fixes and methods of locking on, and still nothing!
But then today, I tried using that Google Car Home app that includes GPS that you eventually have to pay for (after the trial period is over). When I used that, I was able to navigate decently, still not great, but good enough.
I've tried checking to see if there were any updates for Google Maps or the navigator, and I supposedly have the latest.
Anyone else have similar problems?
Have you tried the GPS fix created by AngelDeath?

I've also used AD's fix and my results were great. I went from 3-4 mins for a lock outside down to 3-9 secs for a lock. I flashed the North America v1.0 zip since I travel a lot for work across country. I've only tested in my home area (Chicago), but from what I've read it works great everywhere else too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036253
Yeah I've tried that and I got the same results. The fact that the other GPS app was working fairly well leads me to believe the problem lies with Google Navigation...? It doesn't make sense why that would be messed up though. I've tried reinstalling it, I've tried stock, I've tried three different ROMs, still same results.

I think the only way would be to restore from a backup. I don't think AD has a revert.

Maybe its because the market isn't recognised the ics, this happens a few times and is usually solved just by waiting.

I've got same problem, plus hundreds of games and apps has disappeared from play store, using see arc s, apps I've got installed no longer compatible, tech support told me to do a factory reset, no way, if that doesn't work how will I install all my apps again, 2.3.4 gingerbread, doomkernel v 22
That seems like a mess...
Lets give it a fresh start, which firmware version/rom/kernel are you on?

Delete your Google account from accounts & sync.
Reboot to recovery, wipe Cache +dalvik.
Reboot.
Add your Google account.
Enable the option "Keep this device backed up with my Google account" to automatically restore missing apps.
Do this, and it should be fine.

no longer a major concern with the new google play.
personally, I find it a lot easier to pick what to reinstall from the website via a desktop.
this is the response i got from Google play support, Thanks for following up and for providing those additional details about the issue you're experiencing on Google Play. In reviewing the information you've provided as well as our records, it appears that this issue is related to the fact that you're not using the authorized ROM that came with your device - using any ROM besides the factory default may cause the device to have limited functionality and may cause unexpected behavior with the Google Play Store app. Unfortunately, we won't be able to troubleshoot this issue further because the issue appears to be unique to the way your device is configured, and we can't recreate the issue with our devices here. To resolve the issue, I recommend using the authorized Android operating system provided by your manufacturer that can be obtained from their website or your carrier.
I have an issue with keyboard working with chrome it has never happened till i switched to ViperS. mind you i alway do a factory reset and wipe cache/devalik. anyone got any suggestions besides using the stock browser or other browsers as i luv chrome
What exactly is your issue? Please be more specific. I'm asking because I thought I was having a keyboard problem too , however my issue turned out to be A simple matter of settings being a specific way. On viper there is a sort of trick to get swipe working correctly. Once I followed the specific "trick" it was working perfectly again....however I'm not sure what issue you are having so I'm not sure if it's the same problem..please explain your issue. Thanks.

Well my keyboard will disappear and I will have two Web Page screens but it only happens with Google Chrome. Never had this problem till I switched to viper and it happens with every keyboard I have.

Tried using navigation. With 2 different sensation phones. 1 stock, 1 rooted with revolution rom. I bet it has to do with the Google Maps app. It's been doing nothing but crashing (rebooting). Is this happening to anyone else?

No. No one else.
You are the only one.
I mean other than the 10,000,000 other people who have had the problems with Google Maps since it's most recent update was pushed with some major bugs that cause exactly the problems you are experiencing. Those bugs have been well documented and have been discussed in multiple threads in this forum as well at just about every feedback left on the Play Store for the past week specific to this exact problem.
But other than those millions upon millions of people, you are the only one with these problems.
Dude, you've just written down what I've been suspecting about Google Maps for some days now. Mine crashes too, not every day and every time, but when it does it keeps doing it. Restarting doesn't help, restarting after battery yanked out doesn't help, will crash and reboot 5-10 secs after starting Maps, and this'll go on for some time until I decide not to us GMaps anymore. So I'm gonna try with satellite settings turned off, anybody better idea?
(I'm rooted on ARHD-6.7.2 XE, OTA'd at 1.27.0000)
Apparently is an issue with Sensation 4G and the Resound

Likewise.... I have the original HTC sensation and just this week google navigation has been causeing the phone to reboot (within 30 seconds).
Very frustratiting ==> I did a full reset of my phone today and it is still happening.

Roll back to an older version while Google gets their **** in gear.
I think this is just more than a Google Maps issue. I have 2 phones 1 with Elegancia Sense 4 v2.7.0 and one ARHD and the Elegancia has no issue. since the update of maps i have never had 1 problem and never had to reinstall or uninstall, ARHD however was so damaged by the update i had to remove it and patch the older version....
this may be a Dev+Google Maps issue.
Using CM9 stable, my sensation keeps crashing while using Google Maps,
I've never had a single problem using Google maps. Just used it the entire time on a drive from Hilton Head to DC aka 9 hours. Nav worked perfectly on CM10

Google Vs. HTC
Just a hunch but I don't think this is going to get fixed anytime soon. The problem seems limited to HTC phones (specifically the Sensation and Rezound). I suspect Google will blame HTC and HTC will either blame Google or more likely since the phone is EOL, simply ignore the issue.

Settings-Location and Security-Credential Storage- User Credentials. GPS Location is a privacy concern. Denyng apps to access this will not let it gather GPS location. Not allowing apps access is the main cause of this.

I tried to find this "Locations and Security" menu, but I wasn't able to. Not in the phone Settings or in the Maps settings. Where can find this? Thanks!
It may be under settings- location. If not you might be able to run the Rom setup again and allow apps gps access.

From what I've read, most people are just using a 3rd party Nav App.
I used Navigon and I had problems with it losing GPS signal just like Google Nav.

Try flashing different radios and test.
A lot of people are having this problem, a simple solution is to you a different navigation app.
But if you don't like any other app, just click on the compass in the Google navigation app, this will change the view to 2D and facing north. It fixes the crashing problem

If GPS is losing connection with 3rd party apps though, this is a radio issue, try flashing different radios.
