Hello Friends
I am using HTC Explorer (Rooted) and facing a problem
When I take a picture, it is saved in sdcard as usual. I can see it in gallery. However, when i connect the mobile to PC with a USB cable, I cannot see the same picture, it gets deleted automatically. Now when I remove the phone from PC and see the photo in gallery, its also gone from there too.
Any help how to get this issue resolved?
Regards
Fahad
Try with air droid.
I know, this is just a workaround but it should work.

Thanks my friend, its now working fine with airdriod. Just wondering if there is any way to recover my deleted pictures? They are no where to be seen now.

Check if there is a .nomedia file in sdcard, delete it if its there. And if the photos are deleted then you can use any photo recovery software for sd card , can be easily found by google.
Hope this helps.

i'm using khalpower's rom but this problem was here before that too... everytime i restart the phone, the recent images and videos just disappear, deleted!! BUT; if i rename the new photo-video files to somethng else than its original name(defaultly date-time combination) those files can stay in sdcard after restarts.... why does the phone or software deletes all the recently taken image files if we leave them with original name???

I have never seen/heard anything like this. So you just take a photo, see it on the sd card, then reboot. Picture gone?
Exatly, the picture is on sdcard but after reboot its gone :s. If i rename that picture file, it stays on card even i reboot...
But i have a dcim/camera folder on sdcard from 2.1 eclair and when i take a photo it's located another camera folder in the same directory.... i will try to delete old folder and take pics now maybe with a fresh folder it will be good....

Try restoring your rom again, what rom are you running? Also try reformatting your sd card
I decided to install Clean Rom 4.0 Dev edition so I did a quick tibu, then booted into twrp and made a nandroid of my current setup
I then went to install DE clearing caches and /data
I went to install the rom and it wasn't there
the only thing on my SD card was my backup and it was corrupted.
I plugged my phone in and mounted the sd card and my computer said it was unreadable so I had to format it
I love starting over
I had cwm originally and randomly lost files off my sd card or were corrupted after mounting as usb so switched to twrp and have had the same problems with losing random files and corruption of files. So I don't think it's specific to the recovery its something else that's causing it. Wish I new what it was because it's quite annoying. I've resorted to only transfering files via dropbox or lan with es file explorer but it's definitely a pain when transferring a Rom.

enabling titanium backup sync to dropbox saved my ass.
Titanium backup is the best andriod app I have ever bought, period.

QFT. while I've never had to pull a backup from the cloud I'm glad to have it as an option more than ever seeing as I no longer have an ext SD.
I also started syncing my photos to dropbox every day or so i can't lose those either.

I have it set up as well luckily that's one set files that I have never lost. It's weird there's no rhyme or reason to what gets wiped I've lost pictures data apps that I had saved copies of on my card data from apps. I just don't get it. I wonder if it's actually the internal sd card that's wonky or some way the usb is being handled when mounting.

Well I don't have to pull it from the cloud since it syncs to my desktop automatically but man it saves you from having to remember to do it.

I've wondered the same thing... It might not be recovery related since it happens with both.
That's odd, because I just flashed TWRP 2.1.7 yesterday and I was unable to wipe my SD card. I had to boot into the system and 'Delete Phone Storage' through the settings menu. Nothing would happen when I would try to wipe through TWRP.

Go to cnet.com and download Recuva. Then do a deep scan and it will recover the stuff you lost... worked for me

I had the same problems with my internal storage on HTC Touch Diamond. I lost a lot of files with that phone. With the HTC One X I have only lost a few Pictures that got corrupted, I think it all has to do with continuous flashing ROMs
Ahh, I hate this bug!! I've lost several things and have had tons of pics become corrupted.

I just lost a few photo's today. First time I've encountered this bug. Guess its time to get dropbox and have it sync my photo's and tibu stuff.
I'm pretty damn paranoid, so I've started doing an SD Card dump right before flashing a ROM using ADB.
$ adb pull /sdcard/
Probably overkill, since I have almost everything important backed up somewhere, but I'd rather take the extra thirty minutes and make sure I don't lose anything permanently.
Only thing I was out was time. I back up my photos to drop box and Google plus.

Is there a way to backup a whole folder with the dropbox phone app? Like... For instance I'd like to upload the entire TWRP folder. I couldn't find a way easily.

I just drag them from my phone to my dropbox folder on the computer and it syncs
the downer is there's no way to move a whole folder from dropbox to the phone, from the phone
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to remove some of my old excess folders off my SD Card and I was wondering if anyone knew what the stock folders are I should be keeping or if it's ok to wipe the SD card? Wasn't really sure if it was ok or not to do so and thought I should ask..
Thanks!
You can wipe the SD-card within android. Its safe and wont make the card unusable or anything like that.
Just remember to save the stuff you want to keep before formatting it
Thanks for the info. I wasn't so sure as I came from a HTC Desire and ended up using ROM's that dumped half the system onto the SD card so was a bit wary with that.. :S

I think any apps that is installed to sd will be deleted so make sure none are.
How?
How can I wipe the card?
I often tried some apps, and now I installed CM so it would be great to have an "empty" SD.
Is there any tool which logs all folders/files that have been created when an app has been installed?

Think adb can do that but why would you need to know that?
i would make a back up of your sdcard to your pc before doing anything
Backup not the best solution...
especially when you "on the road". Sometimes when I'm outside (waiting for the bus or so) I've time to look around in the play store. Screenshots are nice, but it's always better when you try an app on your own.
But once installed you see "oh that one is crap" you want to uninstall it, but the folders that has been created are still there. So it would be nice if there would be a app that watches for the changings during installation and you are able to delete all the folders and files of the crappy app.
If you delete data before uninstalling the app everything should disappear.
Actually, I think its only if you uninstall through play store the data is kept.
TitaniumBackup will remove all of it when using it to uninstall stuff.
I've been changing a lot of ROMs lately and I've noticed that internal memory of the phone sometimes has different names, like sdcard0, sd and any other.
Which is why when going from 1 ROM to another whatsapp saves the path of received photos with original root folder name and can't open many pictures on another ROM.
Am I right about the reason and is there a fix for that?
At least could smb say where to find the file where this path is saved so that I could manually rename the wrong paths.
And if I'm wrong about that what's the reason for whatsapp being unable to open photos on new ROM?
It is because of vold.fstab replace vold.fstab from the top previous rom and set permissions (you must be rooted to perform this)
And vold.fstab is found inside system/etc folder

So what do I need to do?
I should have saved this file from previous rom?
Have you kept the same SIM card? have you tried reinstalling the app? I've never had any problems with whatsapp before...

How is simcard related?
And no I didn't install the app, I anticipated the problem with unopening pictures with my magic powers.
Hi guys,
I have some important pictures that I need to retrieve on my phone that I took about an hour ago.
The pictures are coming up as damaged on my SD card. I have included a screenshot below.
I have tried to transfer the files to my computer, without any luck.
Any ideas will be great.
