Piece of plastic coming out beside the phone - HTC Butterfly

There was suddenly a piece of small plastic that's coming out of the Butterfly. It's located where the black piece of the phone meets the speaker-like mesh on the left side. Looks like it's part of the rubber that prevents water ingress.
It's really small and has a golden brown color. Has anyone else seen this on their phones?

No, do you have some shots of it ?

I think it will be very hard to do a close up shot of it.

little far away shot will also be helpful ...

i saw that before in my previous returned Butterfly (for touch screen malfunction), but don't worry, it is just the exceed glue, it won't impact the phone water resistance quality (told by the service guys, don't blame me if it is not true)

same here!
if it's kinda sticky, yes. it's the same. kinda worried though it might affect the phone being splash-proof.
but hey, it's not the (Sony Xperia) Z that we'll soak in water, is it?

Yep, I've also concluded before that it's just the glue. How'd I know? I peeled the 'speaker-like' sticker and put it back. Yes, it's just a sticker for decoration.

[Q] Battery compartment consists of film?

Allright. Ever since the last time i've taken out the battery of my Sensation, i've been slightly annoyed.
I've noticed that a small bulge developed in the battery compartment. I've also noticed there are a couple of streaks/scratches.
Why the hell is the battery compartment so susceptible to scratches? Also, should this bulge be of concern? I can even feel it if i run my finger over it.
Is the battery compartment back side actually a black film? You know, where the disposal symbol, and the FCC logo are.
If so, that would explain it, sort of...
not sure if serious. i really wouldn't worry about that, fella.
Oh, i'm serious. It's been bothering me. And i wanna know if the compartment is made of a film of some sort, or if it's plastic.

I think he meant that the scratches won't be serious.

Regardless, anyone know what the battery compartment is made of? Not the surrounding area, but the back of where the battery sits. Just as i had described before.
Does ANYONE know?
And can you get a replacement for that part?
It's the same type of metal that is on the exterior of the casing. You can buy a new battery back door housing if you'd like. They go for about $10-20 on ebay or amazon.
MMmmmm... No.
That's not what i'm talking about.
The place where the battery is fitted.
Right there. The spot with the largers amount of surface area in the battery compartment.
There's a disposal symbol on it.
I've got a little bulge there, and some scratches.
It feels soft.
What is it?

It's made of aluminium, the little silver grounding pin is part of it, it has a square shape, and that aluminium part is connected to the lcd back by other sort of 4 pins. I opened mine to try to clean the dust under my screen, then i realized i needed a heat gun and glue, so i left it like that. The pins that make contact with the lcd may be another possible cause of the touch problem...

No no. Ok. You take the back cover of the phone OFF. And you take the battery OUT. The area behind/around the battery. It's black. It feels softer than any other part of the phone. THAT is what i'm talking about.
I ran my nail along it, and it left a mark... . And i kinda feel bad about it. Although it's inside... and the rest of the phone is in perfect condition.
That's the area on the phone i'm talking about.

This we overlooked while troubleshooting touchscreen problem.
Thanks
Ahem... eerrrmmm. Is anyone NOT clear of which part of the phone i'm talking about?
Are you talking about the black sticker in the batter compartment? I believe its just a plastic sticker. The bulge is probably either air that got trapped or a bump in the aluminum casing beneath. Either way the bulge and the scratches are purely cosmetic. There is no "replacement" for each sticker has several unique numbers on it. Also why would you even care?

Usb Port cover missing, can it be replaced?

Hi all, just got my SW2 tonight used! Loving it so far! Unfortunately the previous owner pulled the black part of the port cover off by accident and then lost it. Theres still a clear plastic piece with the bits that actually go into the port. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm worried without the black part moisture may get in? I know the remaining bit does fill the post but with out the black square I'm not sure if it's vulnerable.
What do you guys think? Anyone had this break on them?
I've attached an image of the piece that's left!

I think the rubber gasket is still attached. Check for it. if so, then find something made of black plastic and shape it into the right size with a dremel. then glue it on.
**** just happened to me 2 days ago, lucky i have my pieace, amma super gule it bck its hard to pull it out with the cover even thou platic layer is protecting it.

Is the rubber gasket that clear is piece? Guessing the black bit is actually very thin as there isn't much more room!

Gutted! Wish the piece was still here for this one! Doubt Sony can provide replacements!
So it's continued to bug me, I'm no trying to solve this myself. I've tried various rubber pieces but everything is a little too deep (the remaining part is quite deep so the outer piece must be very very thin. Currently trial is with a product called sugru which is moldable chewing gum consistancy but solidifies over night. I've packed the port with it and will see if it does the trick! Because the inner piece is still there the new rubber should just bond with that like the original port cover!

Can nylon corners be replaced?

Hi all,
Do you know if you can replace the nylon corners on the Z3? Dropped it on the corner and got a nasty ding, but rest of phone is perfect, just the corner is damaged. Don't mind paying Sony to do it, as long as it's not so expensive. Just not sure if it's possible.
Thanks!

I am imterested in this as well. If anyone has any info
Up
I dropped my phone and also would want to know where to have these replaced.
They can be replaced.
So... Is it Sony that can replace them? I have a small dent in one corner. Anyone know where the phone is sealed? I would guess it is behind the nyloncorner as it is ment to take off for the fall?
Also curious. I dropped my phone onto a hardwood floor from 3,5 meters. Phone is fine but one corner has a crack on it. It´s barely visible but dont think it will take many more drops so this subject might come important for me.
What are you guys doing to drop your phones?

Other people write about droping the phone from 20cm and the screen cracked.
How in the world did your phone survive this?!?!?!
I guess the wooden floor was soft enough and rest was pure luck. Only the flaps opened and phone rebooted itself. I left the phone on a flat balcony railing and a minute later it dropped on its own because it is so slippery.
Btw it´s not the only time i dropped this phone on a wooden floor from hights more than 1 meter without any cases or covers. Durable phone.
Mine slid off a soft surface onto a tile counter top no more than 5cm, and the screen shattered. I can't say I agree that the phone is durable.
Id love to see some photos of drop damage. Do the nylon corners work as intended?
It is becoming clear that the Z3 is a phone you do not want to drop without a case on.

Isn't that true for all phones right now ?
Anyway, @op, could you provide pics of the affected area ? I'm curious to see how the nylon corners dealt with the damage, as Sony is advertising them as the saviour of Z3 in case you drop it.

Basically.. Although the Z3 has two pieces of glass, so the chances of one of them shattering is higher.
It's all about how lucky, or un-lucky you are on how it lands.
The days of Nokia 3310 are gone, only flagship phone that can really take a beating is the HTC One because of the speaker frames buffering the glass, so even corner impacts don't damage the screen.
So, anyone who actually had the corners on the phone replaced? Roughly how much did you pay?
One of my corners cracked after a drop yesterday, and the phone looks hideous now...
I must say that unlike what seems like most people experienced, I find the phone to be very durable.
I've dropped it several times from roughly 1-1,5 meters height, and only this one time any damage appeared - and it did not spread anywhere else than the corner.
I've attached pictures of the damage if anyone is interested. (Sorry for the extremely poor quality, apart from my phone I only have a ****ty webcam as camera...)

Where do you see Sony advertising the nylon corners for stopping damages? I would imagine rubber would help more than these hard nylon corners.
Did 1 of u manage to repair ? dent mine the same
Hello. Anyone has experience on the fix? A Taiwanese forum mentioned Sony replacement for NTD 5150 (about USD 165) as Sony representative said "the nylon caps are together with the screen/frame so everything has to be replaced". Ridiculous I would say.
Mine was more abrupt because it just slipped off the phone when I picked my phone up from sofa. Don't know if previous damage would have loosen it.
Does that affect waterproofing as well? My pressure test still positive though. Maybe I can just use super glue. Hmm. Update me please!

What is this under the lens cover?

Something under the lens, near the top: http://imgur.com/a/SMXPU
I'm not sure what this is but looks like a speck of dust? But I'm not sure. What do you think? Is there a way to remove it without taking off the back cover completely (e.g. tapping the phone downwards, tapping the covert itself, etc.)
Not sure how it affects (or if it even does) image quality.. haven't noticed anything too unusual
Yep, looks like dust to me and I have mixed thoughts. One hand I say don't worry if it doesn't impact images, but also think if dust got in how dust/water proofed is the device?

I'm thinking more like dust went inside during the assembled of the device

I have the same thing and quite a bit... Doesn't affect most outdoor images, but if you I a desk light at a certain angle, the dust spots are more apparent (they look like floaters in your eye). I had the lens cover replaced when I had the left blur problem. JerryRigEverything said the lens cover is plastic and scratches and loosens up very easily if you use a knife to poke it...
It looks like water vapors to me. Did you sink it in water? That's how my HTC camera looked after taking water. Could be that your device is not hermetic anymore. There is a test for that, using your service menu / pressure sensor and gently pushing on the screen. Google it up.
If it's not water but dust, you'd better test it though, as you don't want to put it in water if it's not water/dust proof anymore.

Z5 Frame Corner Housing Replacement

Hello.
Has some of you replaced the original corners? I'm really thinking about doing it since the one at the top left got damaged and it looks very bad, haha.
I may buy them from Witrigs, since I have already bought from there.
What I'm a little worried about is: is it safe and easy to change those parts by myself? And will I lose water resistance?

Mine too is slightly dented/damage (same as yours, top left corner), and I was wondering the same... Does replacing that teflon corner affects the phone (water resistance) ?
Based on this video:
, water resistance might not be affected. The corners seem to be on top of a kind of internal frame
I guess we'll find out soon enough how it went and how it looks like once replaced. Doesn't look too difficult though judging by the video you posted, as long as you have some basic manual skills

I will implement same thing I bought one piece middle frame corner from Aliexpress. I wanna ask that will this process damage water resistance of phone or not?

I am wondering why the top left corner of Xperia Z5 is so sensitive and weak. Now my phone is very ugly while seeing from left side.
Not sure if Sony Warranty can replace it, of course with additional fees.
Quick heads up. I don't have my Z5 anymore (gave it to my fiancée and got a S7 Edge), but I managed to repair the corner.
It requires patience and precision, but it's quite easy
I removed the damaged corner using a hair dryer and a pair of very thin long nose pliers. The glue became very soft and the corner came easily. I then used lighter fluid to clean the remaining glue and stuck the new corner with 2 droplets of crazy glue.
Looks like new now! Just don't overheat the phone with the hair dryer, and make sure you don't blow hot air directly on the display. I will post pics if you want.
