CREDITS TO THIS PORT
InflatedTitan- His magnificent Porting
rohan32-his 4.2.2 kernel
Our next goal is to put together a build machine, and we need your help. Why do we need a server? Well, a few reasons. The first is the most obvious - we'd like to build more frequently and need the hardware to support it. That means drive space and speed. The more of each we have, the more we can say "hey let's crank out a build," and throw it up on goo so you see an update in goomanager. Right now, building is a pretty intensive all-day process. The second reason is stability. Building from a development machine means that the environment itself is less stable. This translates into, again, fewer builds and more work to make them. Faster building means we can build for more devices, too. All this free time means we can do more cool stuff. We've got a lot of great ideas coming, and every bit of time we can get to work on them means a better rom for you. If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

Any bugs that you know of? Screen tearing?

Wow. Bold claim!!! Can't wait to flash.

I did just reflash to verify, there is a small annoyance but not a bug. When you first flash the status bar resolution might be a little fuzzy, as it was for me. But a theme change quickly fixed it

Looks like a great rom. It was something worth bragging about then lol. I really liked liquidsmooth so im definitely going to like this one too. will give a try soon

Haven't dug too deep but I must say...this is good. No tearing/stutter (or very very little if any). Did notice that turn screen on when charger plugged in/out did not work....that's a sweet feature never understood why that isn't default on android.
Having a little bit of trouble with WiFi and signal drops but it will probably stabilize once its been running awhile longer.
Good work!!!!

I've been running this since I ported and must say this is one of the smoothest 4.2 ROMs... Part of it is due to the awesome carbon dev team, a big part is rohans kernel. I'll be maintaining updates and hopefully adding in my own tweaks and mods to it.. Hope you guys like. Thanks to kole for finally peeling this rom off my sdcard

And everyone! about the battery life, the first thing I did was under clock to 1134 and 192 and this was the first day!
By the way. I flashed it at ~70-75%
Note the screen on time and it lasted until 11 something at night

NON TYPICAL WARNING! :
This will NOT void your warranty - you did that when you accepted the risk and unlocked your BOOTLOADER
I also take FULL responsibility if this ROM causes any issue with your device and will help in anyway to restore whatever damage I caused (note: this might include wipipng everything though so backup your /SDCARD somewhere b4 flashing to minimize risk). Just message me and we will get you backup.
(^ note this hasn't happened to anyone yet, just want you to know I won't leave you if something does go wrong)
AOKP Based (updated 8/4) V15: V15+Patch Includes AOKP updates, like Themes. added in some stuff from JR6 like camera and flash, chrome (doesn't seem to be working though, so reinstall from market). ^This update can be installed without a wipe (assumging you are coming from my ROM)! So backup update now!
Download both V15 and V15Patch, flash them both (no need to reboot, no need to wipe before flashing either). This updates to Motley's 177 kernel and fixes SU FINALLY!!!!
Working on adding in color for nav bar icons. And I will pull any AOKP changes

*GAPPS and motley's kernel baked in.
_motley's Kernel is great, I won't even try to build my own for the moment if his work keeps up.
Check it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775798
At first: I built this based on source, took forever to get the kinks so it kind of built. Then pulled the rest from CM10 ports to make it finally boot.
hope to get the source working from scratch and have this as a full time rom BASED on AOKP and CM, with added features.
Thanx to AOKP and CM for all their hard work!!! without them we would have no where to start
source to come, please let me know what is broken so i can remove it and then fix it piece by piece.
ALSO, let me know what you want in this rom! like a tablet mode is a must, will be adding a switch for it also. what else you want?
Thanks also to:
AOKP for getting us to JB again, and to the toro community for their efforts earlier, which showed me we can finally start working on this!
Winner00 for the grouper files
CM for getting the us to where we are today
nocoast for getting me interested in doing this myself in his Google+ hangout one day
Changelog:
V15:
-Fixed Superuser
-Fixed Chrome
-Rebased on nightly + goodies
V14:Includes AOKP updates, like Themes.
-camera (Paulobrien)
-flash in browser (Paulobrien)
-chrome (doesn't seem to be working though, so reinstall from market). (Paulobrien)
-Rebased on nightly (biggest update was Themes)
V13:
- I am also trying out the launcher by SGT7 as I see they have worked on it and focus on tablet view a little, where AOKP was using Nova, and it doesn't work correctly with our DPI.
-Rebased on nightly
First! Wow, first time!

at the moment this is REALLY alpha, for AOKP itself. They haven't made a lot of stuff work in JB yet, so it's limited. The optimizations though should all be there from a ROM perspective, so should be smooth. Gotta work on Kernel optimizations and fixing (or removing) the toggles that aren't important. I removed a few and I noticed it now put the image to toggle relationship out of wack, so I am working on that. Might put the tablet mode on hold for a little while as there are a few options out there and I can't decide which way I want to go yet.
Awesome work! Thank you for this. Running smoothly from start, will report back.
Missing a few things from latest test build I noticed.
Nav bar options, volume wake, center clock.
Thanks again, looking forward to your progress!

ya I am now having to piece it all together to see why it's not pulling. I built this literally 7 hours ago so ALL of the commits should be there. Unfortunately the grouper pull from the tablet make files which haven't been touched yet, as they are all focusing on the Tuna to get it as close to what it was I assume for JB then, port it to everything else. So I am going to have to watch the commits for the phone side and integrate it to us, and then trouble shoot this crappy phablet UI which who KNOWs how many curve balls that will have. Might focus more on just making it tablet mode to help for the time being. We will see. I also have NEVER built a rom before, and can't seem to get the damn thing to work. The bootloader, ramdisk, etc. is all screwy at the end so this hurt me a little. Going to pull a full CM10 build I think also to compare and see how they are getting the grouper to work, even though their manifests look soooo similar. I'm missing something. back to work on these toggles
Which gapps us everyone using? The only one I've got on my sd card right now is the one from teamEOS. Don't have WiFi right now so I can't download another one.

ok time to get a little shut eye then back to it, I was hoping to pull some stuff straight from the working toro build, but crashes everything. I am goign to go back to code in a few hours, compare differences in phone vs tablet, and then compare changes they pushed in ICS to help close this gap. Have a lot of free time this week so I'll get it all worked out.
Isn't my first time coding by any means. But it is my first time building on android. The repo for this is huge so took a while to wrap my head around.

back and working, navbar is top priority now. CM finished pulling while I caught some shut eye so that should help the bootloader issue I hope I was having (requiring me not to need to hack the final files together into a zip would be nice!) Will update on bootloader (then purge the toggle) soon. Then might look at tablet mode, wonder how nav bar will react in that..... hmmmmm time to boot the latest on my nexus to check real fast.
Happy to see AOKP make it's way to the N7

*Bugs*So*Far
When entering landscape and exiting landscape on the LG launcher it force closes for some reason.
Some LG generic icons show till a reboot happens ( first boot only )
LG Music widget isn't working ( looking for an easy fix or removal ).
*Tweaks*
There are some tweaks too like long hold of power while screen is off activates torch.
Pressing the camera button while screen is off and music is playing will pause/play current track.
The rom looks like cm9 other than launcher so I dunno if you would consider it a port lol...

I just want to be sure before I get to deep with it. And like I said I don't have much info other than what's here was pulled from an LG ICS leaked system dump. It was done for the evo shift and I talk to the dev all the time so I'm going to see if I can help him iron out his issues along the way of this one because I also support that phone with a different ROM/kernel. I don't want to get ahead of myself, I'm busy till Sunday but wanted feed back on the idea. In the mean time I'm going to run what I have just to get a feel for it and the bugs it has. Once I get a chance to look at the dump ill be able to see if there are little pieces left out that could/would be causing the force close issues with a couple things. Or they could just be broke that's why its a leak anyways I'm off to bed for a change

Best bet would be to post in development section regarding this. I don't think much of the flash junkies ever visit the general sub forum unless they have some problems with their device! lol!
Anyways a Work in Progress is already considered as development right? So I don't think that would make it offtopic.

Funny how so many of us abhor Sense but will jump on a Touchwiz or Motoblur or LG skin. Change of pace is nice I guess. I actually got half excited by a Sense ROM for my kids OG Droid (play phone for games and youtube) then I realized what I was thinking...

Sense is heavy and bloated. I really hate that about it. What really draws me to this is that its based on Cyanogenmod. CM has really nice tweaks and features, some I've come to feel I can't live without nowadays. I don't think there's a device I could get and not use CM on it. This would be a really nice change from stock CM for me

Would be nice to try it out! Can't hurt to have an addition to the ROM choice here right!?
Thanks Strapped. Family comes first.
::Respect::
I'd love to take a look at that one myself Strapped. Looks a bit different. Seems to have some visual enhancement to it too but I can't quite put my finger on just what.....maybe something about the app drawer icon shading. And to be honest with you I've always been a bigger fan of CM9 derivatives than the original. No offense to the CyanogenMod team tho..........
Love to see YOU get your hands on this one! :good:
Yeah I def need to figure something out. Its a port from a system dump, to the evo shifts cm9 rom, then ported from that device to ours. Its running the LG launcher and also the motoblur ics launcher. Of course the LG widgets won't run on the MoTo launcher but there are no MoTo widgets. Hopefully I can find parts around the net for both lauchers to be complete(high hopes). I will say its a def change from the standard cm ROM. Last battery only got about 10 hours with 3 hours screen on but I'm thinking all the youtube videos my daughter watched today played a big role in that, so after a full day of running no new bugs have popped up. And since this is gonna get atleast some usage I can have the mod lock/delete this soon and just start a dev thread for the ROM once I get it up
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2
That already sounds VERY promising! I'd be happy to apply as an "Orkin Man" on the project for you if you need anyone. It looks to be a VERY different ROM from what any of us are used to seeing!

Man everywhere I turn its like I can't make a decision on what to touch. I have the aokp the paranoid-android,MikTouch and MikXE for this device then Supreme Sense and an aokp for the speedy, along with trying to get my speedy source updated on git so I can post there tweaked kernel with no low level battery cap. I've had it done for about a month but then the slave got wiped so I have to reproduce a source without compiling again since some major changes happened and now my commands won't turn the zImage into a boot-new.img correctly
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2
MAN! That's awful. I sure do hope it's not a mechanical issue with your slave drive otherwise there may be other issues looming on the horizon.
It sounds to me like you're juggling chainsaws right now.....even more than I realized. I don't know how you keep it all straight in your head! When I take on more than one project at a time it reaaally messes with me.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate yours and the other developers time & efforts that call the DS "home". And I also understand that even though you have a perfectionist living inside you, this is a very nice ROM even with the few issues that are haunting you. I guess I've just gotten used to using a few very easy workarounds to the point I hardly notice them anymore. When you decide to, this is going to be one that people like myself appreciate more than some others will. Being that, there really is a minority group of us that just likes the derivative ROMs generated from the CyanogenMod code really better than the "original" in most cases. Even though it's mostly just a launcher change in your mind....this is definately one of the ROMs. :good:

Well in that case..... I got some cabinets to hang today, and measure to downsize a Window and once that's done I'll upload.......
And the bigger issues I can see coming faster than I could have imaged. I have a windows hd now thanks to you. And it will boot up just fine with the slave attached, but Linux will no longer boot with thee slave attached, it actually freezes because I have to hit esc to enter my boot menu to choose what drive to boot :banghead:

I'm glad to hear that! And very soon there will be lots of us that will be glad too. I run it on a pretty regular basis myself simply because the things I use regularly do work so well. Besides, over the past couple of months we've had several programmers with varying degrees of abilities move in here with us that I can forsee them wanting to see if they can figure out those very few issues that you really just don't have the time to right now. That is, if you don't mind. We DO have a very healthy community attitude here for the DS ya know.
I wish I knew something to tell you about your slave drive issue though. Would physically setting it to "drive select" instead of "slave" with the jumpers have any affect on it?

All is quiet on the development scene

I knew this summer was going to be a hit for the Doubleshot, but it seems all dev action has ceased since then.
Anyone know what's been going on with our device lately?
Just a BS thread to discuss our device. Devs feel free to chime in.
Or if you're secretly working on something and would like to tease us by letting us know what's coming, by all means...

Well it still has some issues. The major one is not going to deepsleep. Then the force close from portrait to landscape and back again. I'm racking my brain trying to figure it out though because I've gotten way more Widgets from LG added

I still don't have a development box to start developing so that first before the WIP since I would need to pull the whole CM build and compile it just to make this recovery. I don't think my good old vps is enough to do this kind of job and I'm not also considering to reformat my windows PC just for this.
I think it has been a pretty good summer for development on our MT4GS. We've got a nice crop of ICS roms to choose from, either AOSP or CM or several Sense flavors. It's a smorgasbord! :highfive:

Well Sun_Dream has worked on our phone with a bit of Sense roms if you dig that.
"HTC Doublshot ICS Bliss" sporting Sense 3.6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896643
and
"Doubleshot Android 4.0.4 Sense4.1+4A Base Ville_U_ICS_40_S_2.31.401.5": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832805
Both seem solid, didn't quite test them out as I'm digging XMC's Jellybean.
Should be a lot of development when Sense 4.5 comes out though I sense ports coming.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...
Ok so where I'm at now. I have figured out I didn't need to use anything from the EVO Shift to get this LG launcher up and running. So its not a port anymore ( so it lost andromaus settings which were cool but caused wakelocks ), its more so a launcher replacement, all other cm9 functions work like they should. So right now I'm trying to figure out how to post it, and here are my posting options I can either
1. Just package all the launcher and widgets as a flash over for any CLEAN INSTALL OF AOSP/AOKP ( will need testers for AOKP ). And a certain set of gapps so the gallery don't get broken
Or
2. I can just pre package everything into a CM build ( gapps and all ) so nothing gets broken. Its your call here is a couple screen shots. And if anyone wants to give it a try just pm me ill get you a dropbox link

ACTUALLY YOU SHOULD PROBABLY LET US KNOW IF YOUR PARENTS BLOW UP. THAT SEEMS LIKE AN EXTREME RESULT THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED.

cricket and us cellular's closest cousins are verizon on the d2 platform. they're virtually identical.
Same reason why the metro pcs variant is in sprint. those platforms are so tiny they will never have their own forums. I've been through this with the mods before, and the conclusion was the best thing was to just mark the posts aggressively so everyone knew what was being posted.

Yeah, I took out the stk.apk just in case! We don't have GSM, so it isn't necessary anyway. But it gave us issues before, so I figured I'd just remove it preemptively. I have not had a single issue yet on this ROM, it's awesome. I just can't center the lockscreen clock. And haven't found the statusbar transparency thing yet. But otherwise best 4.2 ROM going.

I'm having no issues with camera on this ROM. I would recommend a full wipe and reflash

First off my English is fine, I have lived in america my whole life born and raised. Second I am not worked up. I work any where from 12-20 hours a day 7 days a week, and I was very tried when I wrote this. Sorry if I didn't make it clear. That is all I wanted to know. So I will reflash and see if it fixes the issue.
It is working fine for me, but on CM10.1 it would only work once in a while, even if I did the whole "tap screen to focus" fix before taking a picture. But this camera just seems to work. I would do a super clean wipe, including internal storage, data, system and reflash.

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. The team is composed of former members of Team Liquid who have forked the code in an attempt to bring greater speed, better coding, and full authorship to code. We are in no way affiliated with Liquid0624. The rom was forked at Liquid beta 3.2.1 and has since undergone major code changes and modifications. Please note that on some devices the kernel is not yet linaro compiled.
We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

winner00Our next goal is to put together a build machine, and we need your help.

On a quick note, Twrp won't flash this rom. So i once again went back to cwm i wasnt sure what exactly what i was suppose to do with the flashable patch, but got stuck in bootloop. So then i left out the patch and was able to get it to boot up. Once booted up i to had issues with the keyboard... as well as setting force closing.... and my menu hardware key didnt seem to work...... Ok so she has some issues. i still love her!! lol

So sorry Cryptic. I test flashed it 3 times before posting it and that JB KB is still working fine on mine. dangit
Just use Root Cleaner to dump the KB & go to the Market & download the AOSP KB & it'll be fine.
The flashable will fix the menu key, KB popup as well as link the data. But you HAVE to let it boot up & settle for a minute & then go back in & flash it. It's weird really. I tried just replacing the file in the full ROM & it bootlooped on me too. When I made a patch.....it went off like clockwork. (mod)
Oh yeah.....Storage & Interface FC's. But I'm looking into it.
The JB KB that's been messing with everyone has been replaced with the original AOSP KB.....rezipped & reuploaded to the OP. Sorry about the confusion everyone.
ok so thats what i was doing wrong i flash the rom then gapps boot it up then wait a few minutes then go back into recovery and flash the patch ok going to try a second time
