[ROM][AOSP][LINARO] LIQUIDSMOOTH JellyBean [4.2.1] Beta 3.2.1[d2usc + d2cri] » Jan 27 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

THESE BUILDS ARE FOR US CELLULAR AND CRICKET WIRELESS ONLY. DO NOT INSTALL UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN WHAT YOU ARE DOING. IF THIS BRICKS YOUR PHONE OR BLOWS UP YOUR PARENTS LIKE AT THE END OF TIME BANDITS WHEN THEY TOUCH THE EVIL THING IN THE TOASTER DON'T COMPLAIN.
ACTUALLY YOU SHOULD PROBABLY LET US KNOW IF YOUR PARENTS BLOW UP. THAT SEEMS LIKE AN EXTREME RESULT THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED.

Exactly what I was thinking. *grabs pitchfork*

cricket and us cellular's closest cousins are verizon on the d2 platform. they're virtually identical.
Same reason why the metro pcs variant is in sprint. those platforms are so tiny they will never have their own forums. I've been through this with the mods before, and the conclusion was the best thing was to just mark the posts aggressively so everyone knew what was being posted.

Thanks for the this ROM! I saw at TeamUSCellular.com that stk.apk should be removed before installation. Does anyone know what that means and whether that's still necessary?

HikingMoose took it out before he flashed because of previous issues with that apk. I did not and have had no issues with sim toolkit. don't worry about it. this is a solid build, you don't need to do anything special. just flash and enjoy!

Yeah, I took out the stk.apk just in case! We don't have GSM, so it isn't necessary anyway. But it gave us issues before, so I figured I'd just remove it preemptively. I have not had a single issue yet on this ROM, it's awesome. I just can't center the lockscreen clock. And haven't found the statusbar transparency thing yet. But otherwise best 4.2 ROM going.

I'm having no issues with camera on this ROM. I would recommend a full wipe and reflash
Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk 2

First off my English is fine, I have lived in america my whole life born and raised. Second I am not worked up. I work any where from 12-20 hours a day 7 days a week, and I was very tried when I wrote this. Sorry if I didn't make it clear. That is all I wanted to know. So I will reflash and see if it fixes the issue.

It is working fine for me, but on CM10.1 it would only work once in a while, even if I did the whole "tap screen to focus" fix before taking a picture. But this camera just seems to work. I would do a super clean wipe, including internal storage, data, system and reflash.

Another great rom, wellcome mate. Hope you bring to evryone here everything good soon! thanks
Collecting here n there, putting own bootanimation/downanimation, anyone can cook room. I don't see any difference with prox... Build. if any Rom with same base solves any problem then this room updates. It's good to come new developers but bad to come copy paste developers. Same base, same team, same changelog but different name, I am not happy with this. Hope you guys come up like real developers.

Hmm... Looking through your posts, I can clearly see all the hard work that you have put forth into developing. Thats right, none. Developing DOES involve copying and pasting files between WORKING ROMs, and the ones that have been cooked themselves. How else do you think Myself, and any other dev cook a ROM? Do you think we build EVERY single lib, framework, egl, etc from scratch? No. We don't. We have to take those files from a working ROM, made for OUR device, and put it into the NEW ROM, so the the NEW ROM will function properly.
I am NOT copying Proxuser's ROM with the work of ICESense. Both him and myself use the SAME RUU for our ROMs, therefore the changelog WILL be extremely similar.
Also, to the point of this thread. Rabim is a member of MY team. The ICESense team. What he has here is a version of OUR ROM, using a base that we no longer use. Since he, and myself, have had requests to revert to the old base, he is going to continue the old base in THIS forum, rather than in MY forum where I have continued on with the new RUU from HTC.
Developing takes a lot of hard work, patience, time, and effort. Its not just copying and pasting. I spent WEEKS before ICESense was released into the public just trying to get the darn thing booting. Don't believe me? Check the first few pages of the ICESense thread and you'll see. All the releases such as 0.0.3 DID NOT BOOT, but were merely built to test.
Walk a mile in my shoes, the ICESense Team shoes, and any other developer in this forum. Its a lot of work and effort that you simply do not understand.
With that being said, it will be quiet on my part. Its quite possible that the next few releases will be released within MY team, and not for public use. Why? because critics don't realize the effort I, and my team, put forth.

I don't see you coming up with ROMs if you're going to come out with such words, you best gotta have a reputable work for it.
Not to put this Rom down or say anything bad but what is the aim for this Rom? What are you going to change ? Seems a lot of proxuser original Rom is being copy and pasted with different names. This is the first ruu released for the one v and your going to work on its base? Will gladly give it a whirl if its anydifferent from the 3 I've tryed.

Most of the ROMS are going to be relatively similar in the beginning. No dev has implemented their own specific tweaks, scripts anything to make it theirs. It will seem the same.
This ROM is based on an earlier rendition of ICESense and will be continued further with this base.

Dude I was reading just don't understand why the same group didn't just do this on the thread they had already.are they gonna work on both or just this One? I know its a different base but sound and WiFi should be fixed with this base since it was patched in 1.3 I just don't get new thread old base same issues. Sure they ll fix them I just wanna know why the same Rom from different groups keeps popping up but nothing different but the name and ruu why not cook as one group trying to fix the issues out standing ,modding, and changing the rom as a group cover more ground. I'm no dev so I don't know I guess..... Seems like deja vu to me.
Fact is, this could have been posted in team sense existing thread. There is no need to clutter dev section and it makes it harder for you guys to keep track of people reporting REAL issues.
Writing crap about how this rom is the same as proxuser's or whatever does NOT help development of this rom at all. No one cares about your opinion on astronauts in tights. If you think it's kanged, use REPORT button. Kinda like I did ;-)

I don't wanna argue here. I just mean to focus on resolving existing problems and give different taste. See the difference between virtious, smartbeat and proxusers' ROM with the same base.

NON TYPICAL WARNING! :
This will NOT void your warranty - you did that when you accepted the risk and unlocked your BOOTLOADER
I also take FULL responsibility if this ROM causes any issue with your device and will help in anyway to restore whatever damage I caused (note: this might include wipipng everything though so backup your /SDCARD somewhere b4 flashing to minimize risk). Just message me and we will get you backup.

AOKP Based (updated 8/4) V15: V15+Patch Includes AOKP updates, like Themes. added in some stuff from JR6 like camera and flash, chrome (doesn't seem to be working though, so reinstall from market). ^This update can be installed without a wipe (assumging you are coming from my ROM)! So backup update now!
Download both V15 and V15Patch, flash them both (no need to reboot, no need to wipe before flashing either). This updates to Motley's 177 kernel and fixes SU FINALLY!!!!
Working on adding in color for nav bar icons. And I will pull any AOKP changes

*GAPPS and motley's kernel baked in.
_motley's Kernel is great, I won't even try to build my own for the moment if his work keeps up.
Check it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775798
At first: I built this based on source, took forever to get the kinks so it kind of built. Then pulled the rest from CM10 ports to make it finally boot.
hope to get the source working from scratch and have this as a full time rom BASED on AOKP and CM, with added features.
Thanx to AOKP and CM for all their hard work!!! without them we would have no where to start
source to come, please let me know what is broken so i can remove it and then fix it piece by piece.
ALSO, let me know what you want in this rom! like a tablet mode is a must, will be adding a switch for it also. what else you want?
Thanks also to:
AOKP for getting us to JB again, and to the toro community for their efforts earlier, which showed me we can finally start working on this!
Winner00 for the grouper files
CM for getting the us to where we are today
nocoast for getting me interested in doing this myself in his Google+ hangout one day
Changelog:
V15:
-Fixed Superuser
-Fixed Chrome
-Rebased on nightly + goodies
V14:Includes AOKP updates, like Themes.
-camera (Paulobrien)
-flash in browser (Paulobrien)
-chrome (doesn't seem to be working though, so reinstall from market). (Paulobrien)
-Rebased on nightly (biggest update was Themes)
V13:
- I am also trying out the launcher by SGT7 as I see they have worked on it and focus on tablet view a little, where AOKP was using Nova, and it doesn't work correctly with our DPI.
-Rebased on nightly
First! Wow, first time!

Edit: by the way, LOVE aokp, been waiting for this. Does it include all the customization that was on nexus? Nvm, I'll just flash and check it out. Thanks!

at the moment this is REALLY alpha, for AOKP itself. They haven't made a lot of stuff work in JB yet, so it's limited. The optimizations though should all be there from a ROM perspective, so should be smooth. Gotta work on Kernel optimizations and fixing (or removing) the toggles that aren't important. I removed a few and I noticed it now put the image to toggle relationship out of wack, so I am working on that. Might put the tablet mode on hold for a little while as there are a few options out there and I can't decide which way I want to go yet.
Awesome work! Thank you for this. Running smoothly from start, will report back.
Missing a few things from latest test build I noticed.
Nav bar options, volume wake, center clock.
Thanks again, looking forward to your progress!

Unfortunately the grouper pull from the tablet make files which haven't been touched yet, as they are all focusing on the Tuna to get it as close to what it was I assume for JB then, port it to everything else. So I am going to have to watch the commits for the phone side and integrate it to us, and then trouble shoot this crappy phablet UI which who KNOWs how many curve balls that will have. Might focus more on just making it tablet mode to help for the time being. We will see. I also have NEVER built a rom before, and can't seem to get the damn thing to work. The bootloader, ramdisk, etc. is all screwy at the end so this hurt me a little. Going to pull a full CM10 build I think also to compare and see how they are getting the grouper to work, even though their manifests look soooo similar. I'm missing something. back to work on these toggles
Which gapps us everyone using? The only one I've got on my sd card right now is the one from teamEOS. Don't have WiFi right now so I can't download another one.

ok time to get a little shut eye then back to it, I was hoping to pull some stuff straight from the working toro build, but crashes everything. I am goign to go back to code in a few hours, compare differences in phone vs tablet, and then compare changes they pushed in ICS to help close this gap. Have a lot of free time this week so I'll get it all worked out.
Isn't my first time coding by any means. But it is my first time building on android. The repo for this is huge so took a while to wrap my head around.

Thanks!
By the way, Team Kang confirmed in their forums that they are going to build an official AOKP build for our precious! Looking forward to that as well!

back and working, navbar is top priority now. CM finished pulling while I caught some shut eye so that should help the bootloader issue I hope I was having (requiring me not to need to hack the final files together into a zip would be nice!) Will update on bootloader (then purge the toggle) soon. Then might look at tablet mode, wonder how nav bar will react in that..... hmmmmm time to boot the latest on my nexus to check real fast.
Happy to see AOKP make it's way to the N7

CREDITS TO THIS PORT
InflatedTitan- His magnificent Porting
rohan32-his 4.2.2 kernel
Our next goal is to put together a build machine, and we need your help. Why do we need a server? Well, a few reasons. The first is the most obvious - we'd like to build more frequently and need the hardware to support it. That means drive space and speed. The more of each we have, the more we can say "hey let's crank out a build," and throw it up on goo so you see an update in goomanager. Right now, building is a pretty intensive all-day process. The second reason is stability. Building from a development machine means that the environment itself is less stable. This translates into, again, fewer builds and more work to make them. Faster building means we can build for more devices, too. All this free time means we can do more cool stuff. We've got a lot of great ideas coming, and every bit of time we can get to work on them means a better rom for you. If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

I did just reflash to verify, there is a small annoyance but not a bug. When you first flash the status bar resolution might be a little fuzzy, as it was for me. But a theme change quickly fixed it

Haven't dug too deep but I must say...this is good. No tearing/stutter (or very very little if any). Did notice that turn screen on when charger plugged in/out did not work....that's a sweet feature never understood why that isn't default on android.
Having a little bit of trouble with WiFi and signal drops but it will probably stabilize once its been running awhile longer.
Good work!!!!

Well dangit. It's working perfectly on mine without the original conflicting with it. Just use Root Cleaner to dump it & download the AOSP KB from the Market & it'll be good to go.

So I'm guessing that the pie controls seen here are from paranoid android and not the new CM ones? Cuz the cm team wrote their own version and it's not fully customizable like PA (yet, hopefully)

On a quick note, Twrp won't flash this rom. So i once again went back to cwm i wasnt sure what exactly what i was suppose to do with the flashable patch, but got stuck in bootloop. So then i left out the patch and was able to get it to boot up. Once booted up i to had issues with the keyboard... as well as setting force closing.... and my menu hardware key didnt seem to work...... Ok so she has some issues. i still love her!! lol

So sorry Cryptic. I test flashed it 3 times before posting it and that JB KB is still working fine on mine. dangit
Just use Root Cleaner to dump the KB & go to the Market & download the AOSP KB & it'll be fine.
The flashable will fix the menu key, KB popup as well as link the data. But you HAVE to let it boot up & settle for a minute & then go back in & flash it. It's weird really. I tried just replacing the file in the full ROM & it bootlooped on me too. When I made a patch.....it went off like clockwork. (mod)
Oh yeah.....Storage & Interface FC's. But I'm looking into it.
The JB KB that's been messing with everyone has been replaced with the original AOSP KB.....rezipped & reuploaded to the OP. Sorry about the confusion everyone.
ok so thats what i was doing wrong i flash the rom then gapps boot it up then wait a few minutes then go back into recovery and flash the patch ok going to try a second time

1.6 is a pretty big update for us! Check out the changelog on our goo.im page for more, but here are the highlights:
-We've fixed PIE! It no longer decides to be invisible from time to time.
-We fixed the battery charge light! None of us use it but apparently you guys are just nuts for it!
-Dark Carbon! Huge props to Slim Roms for coming up with this unique and awesome feature.
-Lockscreen theming
-CM skinny battery is back!
-Volume key lock on silent mode option
-Backup tool - if you're flashing a new version of Carbon and already have the required version of gapps installed, it will be backed up and restored during install. This applies to system apps and custom host files as well. Please note that you should only dirty flash from Carbon to Carbon. It's ok if it's another version or a nightly - just not over other roms. Super handy for you crack flashers. Make sure you've got the most recent Gapps though, and if you're flashing from a factory reset, you'll still need to install it after install of course.
-Long pressing the "clear recents" button clears the cache
-AOKP's awesome new navbar settings
-MMS and call "breathe" feature. Makes the notification icon fade in and out.
-Mute dings when changing volume
-Disable/enable CRT effect on screen on/off.
-3rd party keyboard bug fixed
-deodexed again
-stability and speed enhancements
-a million other little things as well - we basically don't even sleep anymore.

Remember that we also have nightlies available. Please remember that these are unsupported - they aren't releases, they are automatic builds of the most recent code. Sometimes they'll be excellent, sometimes they won't work, sometimes they won't even build. Expect the unexpected. Not for anyone who finds themselves intimidated by this - you're on your own. Demands that we improve the nightlies will be countered with laughter, taunts, and public shaming. Really ridiculous demands will be memorialized on our social media feeds.
Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question here. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Wow recently so many 4.2.2-based ROMs got released and they functions so similarly (at least to me because I'm fond of AOSP-style)... Not to discourage anyone including @unjust who built all these for us, but yeah I'll stick to CM nightlies... Have to prepare harder for the damn college entrance test and don't have too much time to care for flashing the E4G...
Just keep the good times rolling @unjust and all devs out there!

Give me about 6hours and another ROM will be up. This was requested by effsi again it is a secret. Carbon ROM finished yesterday but uploaded it today so both devices I maintain released within seconds of each other.
Remember its a secret unless effsi pops up and tells.

I agree. To me they're too similar. It would be awesome if we got some variation. I wish xboxfanj would've continued his Sense4All project. Also, maybe someone could port the stock ROM from the Galaxy S4. Even just a heavily modified and themed AOSP ROM would be a nice change. I'm not complaining because I love CM10; just putting out some suggestions/food for thought.

Carbon has dark carbon which works the same and it has more settings but beanstalk is simple and clean.
