Good afternoon folks.
I'm wondering if it is possible to connect a 3G USB Dongle with an OTG cable or with the Original USB adapter that comes with the N8010.
If it's possible how can I do it?
Best regards

I understand how to use a micro. B USB to USB2.0 cable to a USB conector to a USB to ethernet adapter. I can figure out how to plug it together. Question is, will ethernet actually work via the micro USB port (are all the right things there on the Xoom side of the port)?
cant imagine it would work with some kind of drivers.
hi, i am planning on buying a micro usb to usb female cord and i wanted to plug the micro usb into the xoom, and a mouse into the usb female. would that mouse work with the xoom, or will the drivers for the mouse not work? thank you
I'm not sure, I don't use a mouse on my Xoom. But I have heard from other Xoom users that the Bluetooth Mouse works.

If you want to use a USB connected mouse you need the Xoom to be in USB host mode. You need to have flashed a rom or kernel that supports USB host mode and you need a USB OTG cable, such as the Motorola Camera Connection cable. You can't just use a regular USB cable with a micro end and a female end.
but you can build your own OTG cable.
buy a micro usb B head
and a usb A recept
and solder it together
the schematic is quite the same like the factory cable
instead of soldering pin 1 to 5 (+) like the factory cable u have to solder pin 4 and 5 together (ground)
you can find a lot of DIY tut´s just google it

I can provide OTG HDMI converter Factory cable. If you need, you can PM me.
Just bought this cable from Amazon
It works just fine with wireless Microsoft Keyboard+Mouse but was not able to make it work with my Lumix Camera and Card Reader. Seems there are problems with Android version 4.0.4
My Xoom is MZ604 WIFI only NOT Rooted. Keyboard and Mouse works fine even without rooting it.

I think it's the XOOM do not support your camera module(no this module driver).Maybe you can upgrade OS to FIX.This issue is ONLY driver issue.
Hello all. Planning to get a MHL 2.0 cable for my note 3 but I also want to hook up a keyboard and mouse. I have a logitech k/b that uses wireless signal via a USB dongle. I figured the OTG cable would suffice but naturally once the MHL cable is in, there is no way to also use the OTG cable. Curious if there is some sort of hub that allows at least 1x micro usb and 1x full size usb, or some sort of splitter? I realize a bluetooth keyboard and mouse is probably another solution but would prefer to avoid if I could.
Thanks!
Hello, I just got the Giga E adapter (USB 2.0 to 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet Network LAN Adapter Card) for $17.55 from ebay today.
But my Shield is not finding it. Anyone have any idea how to make it work? The OTG Y cable I have is working fine. Thanks.:crying:

I have the plugable USB 2.0. I would think they are simular. To get mine to work I....
1. Plug your power micro USB into the female micro of your OTG.
2. Plug the OTG cable into the shield.
3. Plug your Giga into your OTG
4. Now connect your internet
5.turn wifi off then back on.
6. connect to your regular wirelees network
Hi guys, a friend of mine have and old Samsung android based phone.
I was thinking about give it a better use as an android tv box/media player, but I have a few questions, main concerning USB OTG.
I could use a USB OTG Y cable, so I could charge the phone while using it, and still have the OTG... could I connect an USB hub to the OTG so I could use a USB mini keyboard and a mouse?.
My other problem is the micro usb port and the HDMI conection to the TV. I could use a cable to connect the phone to the TV but then I couldn't connect the USB OTG. It's possible to connect HDMI and still use USB OTG???

It's probably cheaper to just buy a chromecast.

I live on latin america. A chromecast is way more expensive than a bunch of cables.

Well... just so you know you can't have the phone charging and in OTG mode in the same time. Not even with adapters. This is because the current in USB can't flow in both directions in the same time (because there aren't enough dedicated wires)
