[Q] ethernet via micro USB?? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I understand how to use a micro. B USB to USB2.0 cable to a USB conector to a USB to ethernet adapter. I can figure out how to plug it together. Question is, will ethernet actually work via the micro USB port (are all the right things there on the Xoom side of the port)?

cant imagine it would work with some kind of drivers.

It has a proprietary 40 pin connector. To use USB devices you'll need the keyboard dock or the usb adapter(but the adapter isn't released yet).

[Q] usb otg cable question

hi, i am planning on buying a micro usb to usb female cord and i wanted to plug the micro usb into the xoom, and a mouse into the usb female. would that mouse work with the xoom, or will the drivers for the mouse not work? thank you
I'm not sure, I don't use a mouse on my Xoom. But I have heard from other Xoom users that the Bluetooth Mouse works.

If you want to use a USB connected mouse you need the Xoom to be in USB host mode. You need to have flashed a rom or kernel that supports USB host mode and you need a USB OTG cable, such as the Motorola Camera Connection cable. You can't just use a regular USB cable with a micro end and a female end.
but you can build your own OTG cable.
buy a micro usb B head
and a usb A recept
and solder it together
the schematic is quite the same like the factory cable
instead of soldering pin 1 to 5 (+) like the factory cable u have to solder pin 4 and 5 together (ground)
you can find a lot of DIY tut´s just google it

I can provide OTG HDMI converter Factory cable. If you need, you can PM me.
Just bought this cable from Amazon
It works just fine with wireless Microsoft Keyboard+Mouse but was not able to make it work with my Lumix Camera and Card Reader. Seems there are problems with Android version 4.0.4
My Xoom is MZ604 WIFI only NOT Rooted. Keyboard and Mouse works fine even without rooting it.

I think it's the XOOM do not support your camera module(no this module driver).Maybe you can upgrade OS to FIX.This issue is ONLY driver issue.

Possible to hook multiple devices up via micro usb port?

Hello all. Planning to get a MHL 2.0 cable for my note 3 but I also want to hook up a keyboard and mouse. I have a logitech k/b that uses wireless signal via a USB dongle. I figured the OTG cable would suffice but naturally once the MHL cable is in, there is no way to also use the OTG cable. Curious if there is some sort of hub that allows at least 1x micro usb and 1x full size usb, or some sort of splitter? I realize a bluetooth keyboard and mouse is probably another solution but would prefer to avoid if I could.
Thanks!

Hardware mod for the dock?

Hi!
i am trying to figure out if there might be a way to solder a USB hub to the jeyboard dock. I can plug it into the existing USB port but, honestly, it's not so fun.
The SD slot is connected to the USB bus, actually it's on the internal hub. Has anybody ever tried to unsolder it and solder an USB hub?

OTG adaptor?

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a USB OTG cable? I would prefer one that will accept a USB Type A peripheral, but still connect to the phone with Type C (not requiring an adaptor). Does such a cable exist?
Yes. Googling type c otg gives you this as the first result. Note that using a micro usb otg cable with a micro→type c adapter doesn't work for some reason, or at least it didn't for me.
I've bought this: https://www.amazon.es/gp/aw/d/B01LX...er+USB+otg&dpPl=1&dpID=41ec3rrdfuL&ref=plSrch and it works quite good as OTG adapter. Take a look.
