Does anyone know of a way to install a version of the ICS camera into a rom which contains the tap-to-focus function? Hopefully there is a flashable zip that I haven't come across.
If its a matter of replacing files using Root Explorer, that's not a problem. However, if I have to use adb to do this, I would love instructions on how to do so.
Of course this will not be possible without the actual files/apk of the tap-to-focus feature.
Thanks in advance to anyone with answers.
Edit: Thanks to dr911 he was able to direct me in the right direction on how to enable this feature.

I don't know if all these files are really needed, but I took them from AOKP and dropped them into the system: system/app/Camera.apk, system/lib/libcamera_client.so, system/lib/libcameraservice.so, system/lib/hw/camera.herring.so. Someone posted it in a thread here on XDA, but I don't remember.
Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate the help!

So now what , how and where the files are ???
It's like saying I know a good resturant , I forgot its name and I don't know where is it
The files are contained within the AOKP rom for the Nexus S 4G as posted. You just download the rom and extract the files. Once you've extracted them, just place them in the same folders within your current rom.

My reply to the OP implied all things mentioned there as given knowledge! And The Batman seems to understand.
If you have the right tools like QtADB it's all just drag'n'drop...

I see now .. my bad sorry
Can you please post a link for the ROM ? for some reason I was confused on the tons of ROM in the dev section ... And do these files work with stock odexed 4.0.4 ROM ? and does thip tap to focus work flowlessly ?
I'm using the stock rom from the update pushed through by Sprint which I of course rooted, and everything is working perfectly fine.
The download link is contained within the development section. Its titled [ROM][AOSP][INFO] Android Open Kang Project - Crespo4g Build 30 [4-7-12].
It is on the first page in the development section.

Are you also able to activate the power button as shutter? The combo TTF and PowerShutter was why I chose AOKP as source ROM.
I think, some things have to be done with hardware buttons, such as camera shutter and music track skipping.
And by the way, are you able to use the video effects? I don't know if it is related to these files or the ROM I use, but they don't work here! I don't need those, so I don't care!
The power button does not work as a way to take photos. But as of right now, I'm very pleased with how this has turned out. I'm running the closest thing to stock with the tap-to-focus feature along with the Face to Unlock security feature which I found as a flashable zip on Android Forums I believe.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Did you activate that feature in camera settings? After that you have to restart the camera, else just your screen turns off.
EDIT1: So i just made a flashable zip from the files for anyone who isn't that familiar with Root Explorer or ADB. I hope it works, hadn't the time to test it, so better you make a backup before flashing (as always)
@The Batman: are you now able to use the power button as shutter?
EDIT2: New zip should also enable video effects on ICS ROMs that lack this function. Tested on I9023 with slimICS 3.3.
All credits to Team KANG and the people here on XDA, because I just took the files from AOKP that were mentioned in some posts here on XDA and put them into a flashable zip file (I also took the template for that from the forums, call me a pirate )
Yes, the power button now works. Users just have to make sure that they use the AOKP camera.apk and not the stock camera.Google.apk.

On the CM9 V6 rom :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399035
There is actually a tap to focus function. So try flashing CM9 if you want to give it a go.

Sorry to say that, but do you even read the threads you reply to??? I've looked through your last posts and in two of them you recommend flashing CM9 V6 where no one asks for flashing a new rom. These threads are not even two pages long...
Here someone asked for a way to integrate TTF-cam into the stock ROM, in the other thread someone asked for a recovery and you also recommend to flash CM9!?

Does that mean both original ICS camera AND the TTF camera work toghther ? and I can choose which one to use ? i.e not lossing one ...
Yes. Or you can delete the camera.Google.apk and still have the camera from the AOKP rom which would then allow you to use the power button to snap pictures.

Depends on the ROM you are using and if that ROM contains the Google camera app or AOSP camera app.
But I think there is no advantage in having both side by side as the AOKP cam should have all features of the stock cam plus TTF and PS...
Has anyone tried this?

Do you have a custom recovery? If yes, place the file in the root of your SD-Card/USB-storage and flash it via recovery!
If you have a moment, I'll try the zip on my phone (forgot about it, sorry)!
EDIT: The zip flashed without errors in ClockWorkMod Recovery, so it should also work for others!

Well IMO , the last thing you wanna do is putting an extra function for the power button ... It is so weak and valunrable to break just doing it job opening the screen lock ..
Just my 2 cents , but the TTF is a good feature to have no doubt
hey guys, i've searched like crazy everywhere and googled. i manually installed the official jellybean app using the aokp and gapps, now the integrated screenshot function is gone. i've tried everything to no avail. how can i get it back?

Press the power button and the volume down button for a few seconds,,,,,,and it takes a screenshot.
The softkey was removed from the navigation bar in the builds , but still works if you do what i said ,
Hope that helps..
Try also pressing power key for 3 seconds or so and see the menu if it contains screenshot option or no
Also try setting in aokp if you can change one of softkeys to screenshot again

It wasn't removed from aokp because that button never existed in aosp. The screen shot button is part of touch wiz. As others have said just use the native android method of pressing and holding power and vol simultaneously for about one second.

I have found solution for Galaxy Nexus by editing SystemUI.apk... but it does not work for me
Here is link: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/30278-how-to-step-by-step-guide-to-add-menu-and-search-soft-keys/

I need Menu-Home(Recent)-Back-Search as on my old droid.
Yea I agree, on my epic you had 4 buttons, on the razr it had four, why are we stuck with the three and the three dot thing.

That's just the difference between the newer Android versions and Gingerbread. It just takes a little adjustment, I don't even think about it anymore.

Works on Photon Q (personally tested only on ICS)
For anyone who has been frustrated by the Note 10.1's lack of a working Samsung Keyboard Autocorrect the answer is here!
Many thanks to BaDaB!ng505 who crafted this solution
Here's the link:

IMPORTANT! Use ONLY the files linked to in this OP. The other files mentioned throughout this thread do not work.
*** At present this mod requires a DEODEXED ROM to work. If you are running stock it will not function properly. BaDaB!ng505 is working on an ODEXED version.

Nope sadly it isn't working.
Keyboard comes up but does not accept key presses. It then crashes altogether.

Yeah the keyboard shows up, just nothing happens when i click on it. Maybe there is something in your rom that makes it work? I'll try flashing your rom. Maybe you could build it in?
Re: Here's Autocorrect-enabled Samsung Keyboard from Note II. Can we make it work?
This is utterly bizarre. I even flashed your rom and still when I open the Samsung keyboard it appears but when I click the letters literally nothing happens until it crashes after about 10 seconds. This is after a full wipe and flash. I just flashed the stock rom with no adjustments.
So something in the way you flashed your copy - maybe a pimp adjustment you made - is the missing piece in this. Can you think of something you added in your flash that might be making it work for you? Its DOA for me.

Thanks for all your hard work on this by the way
By "romantic" I assuming that was a typo and you mean "rom"?
So what you are saying is just do full wipe then reflash your rom, then flash the zips? Did that and still have the problem. I am guessing there is some line of code missing somewhere in my base. Will ODIN back to ICS as you suggested and try again.
Do you have a link to the ICS .tar by the way?
Ok, I officially give up.
I went back to an ICS base, scrubbed everything 5 times, flashed 4.1.2 and then your .zip files. Keyboard still will not respond and crashes. I have NO idea what is wrong and why this works for you and not for me but it will not work for me no matter what i try. Sucks.
The weird part is that the keyboard actually appears, it just won't accept touches.
last try ...
no i did not mean romantic (auto correct when i enter rom)
