hey guys...
Congrats on Hero_over on the retirement, but you didnt have to mention my name in your post. I dont even consider myself a ROM developer, I just made a nice rom thats fast and stable for me, and I wanted to share. I dont want nor expect donations. I just love this community and I figure maybe someone out there would like this ROM. Its all love though.
i have this rom that i've made and have been using for the past two-three weeks. as i've been going along i've been tweaking it to my liking, and its very fast for me and i have no force closes. i wasn't even going to post this rom, but i thought maybe somebody out there would like it.
First off: G1 (HTC Dream) ONLY!!!! They say it works for mt3g, so you can try but I made it for the G1.
its based on dwangs 1.17.1 rom.
i edited the boot.img to include cyanogen's 4.2.12.2 kernel ( NO ramhack, so you can enjoy 3D games and apps)
i added the black statusbar
added nano so you can edit scripts in terminal on-the-fly
ext 2 through 4 supported
automatic a2sd!
added meltus audio hack v2r2
edited alot of pngs.. themed STOCK launcher with nexus tray
eclair contacts.apk
youtube 1.5.08
eclair calculator
compcache working...
userinit.sh support in /system/sd/
updated market
like i said i wasnt going to post it, but i thought maybe somone would like it...so if u flash it. let me know how it works for you.
REQUIREMENTS
DANGER SPL and UPDATED RADIO (THE NORM)
ext 2-4 partition
swap partition if you want.
PLEASE WIPE DATA BEFORE YOU FLASH!!!
Sidenote:I never usually wipe my entire ext partition before I flash any ROM. If you have access to a linux box and sd card reader I usually just delete the DALVIK-CACHE folder and APP-PRIVATE... although my APP-PRIVATE is always empty. I think what causes the crashing at boot when you don't erase the ext is the dalvik-cache. I leave my APP folder and my userinit.sh there, and when I reboot and it dexopts all of my apps and when it finally starts up all my apps are there from the beginning. NOW! You might have to reinstall some apps which might FC when you try to run it, but you can easily with a file manager and browsing to /system/sd/app/ and reinstalling.
But that's just me, I find that more convenient that reinstalling 111 apps one-by-one. If thats too much...
WIPE EXT PARTITION BEFORE FLASH.
ChangeLog-
Boogiedonut.5
Davilk-cache on sd card
Added latest WiredTether and WirelessTether, and the newer Terminal
Added transparent notification drop down
Fixed A2SD script to correctly run e2fsck
/system/sd/userinit.sh support, if not, then linux-swap if you have swap partition, or compcache if you don't
Reverted to stock Android bootsplash
boogiedonut.2
changed boot.img to use /etc/init.d as custom_init
turned on compcache by default ( 32mb disklimit ), if no /system/sd/userinit.sh present
changed status bar battery icon with default hero one
reverted back to nexus themed launcher, changed launcher background to darker png
edited phone.apk to replace all in-call screens with stock 1.6, (still eclair dialer)
added WIRED tether. works great, trust!
keep dalvik-cache on internal memory... ( i have over 100 applications on my sd, and have 29.50 mb free internal) - apps still on sd
BOOGIEDONUT.1
Added LatinIME.apk and reverted to working alarm clock
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ifr7oa
mirror: http://www.mediafire.com/?madu0lqmuyw
I'll also add the userinit.sh that I use for me it's makes it pretty fast, it just sets cpu max to 528, min to 384 Mhz. Compcache with 24 MB dize size, without swap partition. Backing swap with 16 MB mem limit, with swap partition, 30 swappiness. Just unzip then, adb push to /system/sd/.
Eclair STOCK theme'd launcher... I dont use advanced launcher, I'm pretty sure you can just "rm -r /system/app/Launcher" and then adb push advanced launcher to /system/app/ if you want to use that.

cool, ill be trying this, im always open to new roms
Nice
Very Cool. I had done something similar myself when I got tired of 3d apps not working cuz of the ramhack except mine was too buggy for my liking. I will try it out and see how the speed compares with dwangs/cyan's (came from dwang to cyan and not diggin it ). I'll post back with some results!
EDIT: Just installed and started playing around with it. Everything seems good so far. One thing is that i got FC on installation. I figured out that eventually when i got past the FC and activated that either there was a problem during setup that the keyboard IME did not get installed or you forgot to include them. No worries. I just pulled them from another rom and installed and all is dandy. Gonna restore some apps and see how that goes and give another update when I can.
i just got this error
E: failure at line 50:
symlink toolbox SYSTEM:bin/start
Installation aborted

If you had a backup, just restore from that and then you can check your radio version. Aside from that just make sure you wiped before installing.
It hangs on G1 screen, I have the latest radio and SPL installed.

you are right i did not include a keyboard IME. Myself I perfer the HTC_IME and it can only be adb installed to the phone, instead of being build into the ROM. If you want I can include a new version with LatinIME.apk included.
yes i have a backup im gonna try to reinstall everything from the begining and i wipe everything

i fixed it in the boogiedonut.1 update as well as missing keyboard
Extremely fast.
But... I have a couple of problems
My Pro's and Con's
Pros:
1.Extremely fast, no lag on the launcher at all.
2. It even speeds up dolphin broswer for some reason.
3. Fast, fast, fast.
Cons:
1. Did notice only three homescreens, had gotten used to 5 but no biggie. Maybe an update if demanded by enough members?
2. Some of my widgets (Including Paid:Weather Flip clock) get stuck on updating. All Mippin mobile widgets get stuck on updating too. Edit: fixed with a reboot, sorry about that mate.
3. Missing spare parts, can I just add that in myself?
I'm running on 96mb swap, did a full wipe, came from Latest Cyan .12 I think.

Would like to see a 5-screens-launcher too.
Maybe you could integrate the Advanced Launcher (user can select the number of screens)
I'm for 5 screens, but against AdvancedLauncher. It has not been updated for a long time and seems to be slowing down the phone quite a bit.
I want to try this Rom but I cant download from sendspace. Plz upload it in mediafire.
INTEGRATED WITH CYANOGENMOD
Please use the latest CyanogenMod for the dream/sapphire
CyanogenMod versions 5.0.7-DS-test2 and later have these patches integrated.
Here's the kernel for CyanogenMod 5.0.7-test1.
THIS UPDATE.ZIP WILL ONLY WORK WITH STOCK CYANOGENMOD 5.0.7-test1
Please follow the instructions for flashing CyanogenMod, then install this update using the recovery image.
MT3G 1.2/LE FENDER USERS: DO NOT FLASH DEATH/DANGER SPL that hboot is just for the size of /system, and the mt3g LE Fender/1.2 has plenty already.
"32B" USERS (except Rogers Dream; see bcrook's port): This will work on your phone too.
This kernel is exactly the same as Cyanogen's, except it has support for the myTouch 3G 1.2 / LE Fender, and a fix for some memory corruption that caused system crashes on that phone.
UPDATED 2010-05-01
Remapped some of the I/O memory to an address outside of vmalloc (stability)
Updated the binder patch
UPDATED PATCH ONLY 2010-05-02
Accuracy correction for the binder patch commit message, no code affected.
UPDATED 2010-05-03
Fixed zone alignment (stability)
This updates fixes the last crashing bug that I have reports for.
UPDATED 2010-05-03 #2
Fixed battery drain when phone is sleeping.

*Removed Information Regarding the Patch, due to the fact it is no longer needed as of -Test2
The patch is no longer needed for the LE/1.2, support for this device has been included from Test2
The current version of Cyanogenmod (eclair) is 5.0.7-Test3 and can be downloaded here
If you're already rooted, simply:
DO NOT FLASH DANGER SPL, IT IS ONLY FOR G1/DREAM THERE IS NO POINT INSTALLING IT ON A 1.2/LE & WILL BRICK YOU
- Boot into Recovery (I use RAmon 1.6.2G)
- Wipe Everything
- (Using USB-MS if desired) Copy the 5.0.7-Test3 zip file as well as the optional google apps zip file onto the SD card
- Flash the 5.0.7-Test3 zip
- [optional] Flash the Google apps zip [to get youtube, gmail, google sync etc]
- Reboot (allow it several minutes for it's first boot)
A couple things to note if you missed it above:
Clock Speeds
Cyanogenmod has a minimum 128mhz, and 528mhz maximum clock speed on all Dream/Sapphire devices as defaults in the kernel. The stock rom has set 245mhz min, and 384mhz max. As a result after applying the CM rom your device will feel faster. Since there's full kernel support , you'll be able to easily underclock (or overclock) with any supporting application (I use SetCPU)
Tethering
If you want to use wireless tethering, I strongly recommend Bluetooth Pan, it works well even on a charger (the wireless tether app has bluetooth mode in setting), where as the Wifi mode, will drain battery within half an hour even if the phone is on a charger.
Upgrading from a previous rom
IF your previously installed rom is 5.0.7DS-Test1 or Test2 (as obtained from cyanogenmod themselves) you should not need to wipe. If you're using the previous 4.2.15.1 and upgrading to 5.0.7 rom, you might not need to wipe but its safer to do so anyways.
If your previous rom is a "port" of 5.0.7 or 4.2.15.1: Then its in your best interest to flash CM's official rom as linked in the OP, then apply this patch. The reason being is because a 'port' doesn't contain CM's original kernel, so there may be a number of things that are not in a ported kernel, but are already there in CM's official kernel, as a result the patch onto a port may not only be incomplete but incorrect. So when using zinx's Patch ALWAYS use the official CM rom he links to and not a 'port' of it.
Awesome work! Just tested it and it works perfect!
I downloaded the kernel, wiped flashed then put the kernel on, got a LOOOOONG black bootscreen, but adb logcated to see that it was booting, then the CYan bootscreen popped up and everything is working.
just flashed...booting now.
I have the black bootscreen also, but logcat is showing output.
The bootscreen will probably be normal on subsequent boots.
Might try prash's new bootscreen, looks pretty cool.

If your previous CM is 5.0.7DS Test1 then you don't need to do a wipe.
Otherwise if its 4.2.15.1 refer to the 4.2.15.1 thread, or do a full wipe, flash 5.0.7DS-Test1 then this update.
If your previous CM is a "port" of 5.0.7 or 4.2.15.1 it will be in your best interest to wipe, and flash CM's official rom from their site before applying this patch. The patch is only intended to be applied to CM's original kernel, not a port of it, since ports do not contain CM's original kernel.

I backed up my data and apps with MyBackup Pro.
Then I did the following:
I wiped everything
flashed official CM5 rom
flashed gapps addon
flashed CM5 patch from zinx
It booted up fine, I signed in with my google account.
I then installed a few apps, including MyBackup Pro. I restored just my call log, SMS, & MMS, nothing else.
I rebooted, and now I'm stuck in a boot loop. I just get the black screen, never even the android screen.
adb logcat shows activity, but it appears to be looping.
Even removing the battery and rebooting doesn't help. Looks like I am going to have to wipe.

Since adb logcat shows activity, that means you have a chance to grab Zinx a crash log.
Simply type this
adb pull /proc/last_kmsg kmsg.txt
(you might have to spam it a few times so you can catch it when the device becomes available)
once you got that, paste the kmsg.txt to either pastebin.com or http://paste.pocoo.org/ and link it here for him to figure out why its crashing.
I'm going to restore my nandroid backup and try Backup for Root Users and see if that works better with CM5.

Question... the previous rom that you backed up on, was it a donut (1.6) system?
Also were you using Apps2SD... a wipe won't wipe that

If I had to guess, the restoration tried to place those files into the locations they'd normally go under a 1.6 system on a 2.1 system and as such screwed with the user-space. That's most likely what happened since the problem didn't occur until after you restored your 1.6 backup onto 2.1
The mybackup pro and similar apps should only be used to restore files onto the same kernel they backed up from.
Understood. I knew their were a lot of changes between 1.6 and 2.1, but I just figured things like sms and call logs would be in the same place. Oh well, no big deal, the benefits of CM5 far outweight the desire to save a few SMS!

Thats why Google Voice is nice... SMS is saved no matter where you use it.
Facebook and twitter accounts syncing nicely.
Facebook is not showing photos for contacts, does it not download them?
EDIT: nvm...just didn't wait long enough...impatient, lol
after playin with this for over 24hours i finally got wired tether to work via settings... but weird thing is it only works when usb debuging is turned off... can anyone else confirm if they have the same issue?
p.s. kbeezie those bad reboots are finally been gone...

Great update, just flashed it over CM5. Thanks
In order to keep confusion of my series of side built project ROMs the Kuroikaze line will be halted with its various builds and instead each ROM will have it's own dedicated thread. This is certainly more ideal then having a thread with at least 4 ROM variants in it.
I present to you Team Baked's Black Bean Jellybean.
Built from source
Black based UI
AOKP, CM, AOSP based source
Includes Balthesaur 2.7x series kernel
Includes ALL fixes implemented into the Unified builds as of U5
Working Storage
Paid Apps
Sensors
GPS
WiFi
BT
Hardware decode
Hardware acceleration (UI / Project Butter)
WiFi LED
Current known issues:
GL may show OOM errors, this is mostly taken care of now.
Uses the Balthesaur JB Kernel
Change log:
Resuming from Kuroikaze B14 - B7
Storage works
Paid apps work
WiFi LED works
Memory management tweaked yet again
Glitches:
Internal SD will appear smaller then normal, this is due to a shift from internal sd to /data, while it may suck to lose some of that internal sd space, it does allow more apps to be installed and requires less use of hacky method to move apps/data to sd to save space for app installation. It seems to be a ratio vs a set amount, IE the bigger the internal sd, the more it moves to /data. A 16GB model will show 10GB internal sd and 5GB available for data/apps. The odd calculation of space is present even in stock ICS, not sure what's causing this.
Downloads:
Black Bean 6 Build 7
Instructions:
For Build 7 a FULL WIPE MUST BE DONE!
Each build after 7 may be dirty flashed if you choose.
Generic flashing instructions - this assumes you have flashed at least one custom ROM in CWM/TWRP at some point.
Download ROM from the link above
Download Gapps provided by Indest at the CM10 Wiki HERE
Reboot into your CWM/TWRP Recovery
Make a full backup/nandroid before proceeding
-For first use of this ROM, a full wipe should be done, regardless of previously installed ROM, this applies for B7, and any version after if you are not on at least B7. A Full wipe means Factory reset, dalvik, system, cache.
-For second flashing (B8 or higher) you may choose to wipe only cache and dalvik and flash just the ROM and Gapps.
After flashing is done (you flashed Gapps after the ROM, right?) reboot system
Allow up to 15 minutes to boot to UI
Once the welcome setup wizard shows up, let it sit for 10 minutes
After the 10 minutes complete the setup of the tablet then reboot
After reboot let it sit 5 minutes
Proceed setting up the device with your apps.
Restore only user apps, and data only if you need to (like game saves, book marks, etc)
Never restore system apps or data! This is red in Titanium Backup
After restoring what you will, reboot one more time
Let sit 5 more minutes
Use device as normal.

Need beta testers?
I haven't used my THRiVE much since I recently bought a Yoga 13, so if you need a beta tester to send log cats I would be happy to. It is not my primary device and I am planning on starting my own development soon so I may be able to help fix bugs in the long run.

[Edit: Use Gapps from kfazz CM10. Works Perfectly]
Yes, which gapps should we use? The various JB gapps I have tried do not seem to be showing up on the device.
Everything works (with bugs)
Camera fc's after every photo but will show up in gallery[Edit: Very Selective. Wait for the FC pop up or it will show up in gallery as corrrupted pic]
Data (3G(Evdo)/1X) works but does not show upload/download on signal bars.
Have not tested GPS.
Unable to logcat
[Edit 3:03 pm Est - ADB shows device offline at all times]
[Edit Jan 5, 2013 10:16 am Est - GPS works (Tested using lockscreen weather). With Google Now the first two cards show up but you cannot scroll the cards. Only the search bar. Also Voice Search is unusable (Tries to initialize but it will say "Didn't catch that. Try speaking again." Each time)]

So the R that plagued your ICS rom is gone with the normal 3G sign in place, so yay for that! It seems as though your ACID audio (Both of them) don't play nice with your ROM. Nothing happens. Now, when I installed the AwesomeBeats zip I use for ROMs, that worked. The ACID and Dobly were still installed, dunno what they did. Actually I still don't know what they do, even with your ICS build. As far as everything else, so far it's the same problems as the fellow above stated. I'll get around to installing my Caffeinated Rattlesnake ringtone on this. I find anything else I'll let you know. Oh and it bootloops alot, though it did that with Kfazz build, but interestingly not in that Altonus Jelly ROM. His boots up just fine everytime.

Try a fresh flash wiping everything this time. (system, boot, data, cache, dalvik cache and sd-ext if you use that) Give the boot up at least 7 minutes.

I always full wipe. If you're talking about the bootlooping issue, it's like that with Kfazz build. It bootloops like 4-5 times then it catches on.
Dont have that problem here

Version?
Wow i'm going to try this, one question, it's JB 4.1.2 o 4.1.1? and this ROM have more languages than English?
Very nicely done. I've been running this for 24 hours now, and am again impressed with how well you've gotten a 4.x OS to run on the OGD! Primary functionality is there - phone, SMS, email - and it's good to see the uSD card is recognized now so that the camera works. Additionally, I was able to install gapps (and can now access my contacts...) and have Google Play Store functioning. Awesome!
Memory is limited, obviously, so installing Maps took a lot of what was left. GPS is good to go, but there is some delay in getting ptp directions set. Camera was a little delayed in finishing a job, as well. The only quirk I've seen so far is the WiFi Hotpot, which on the one hand is awesome in that it allows the OGD to offer a true infrastructure AP (instead of the usual Ad-Hoc AP), but it does not consistently start up. Probably hardware related, for obvious reasons, but there you have it.
Still, beautiful and smooth for what I need. I can easily use this as a daily driver, for now, so I'll see how it goes over the next few days. Great work! Thanks for offering it out to us!
Debugging works
Hello all & thanks for trying my ROM.
USB Debugging Works after 3-6 Reboots. Its working for me now

Use a different kernel like kfazz JB safe one,,,,,,, But default kernel is a beast
Now the acid audio just plug in CM 10 JB by kfazz or Eman and listen music in head phones & speaker without any sound mods. now use my Rom which has AC!D baked in. you can find difference For better USE Noozy addon & inside noozyoxide app line out audio Use EQ preset as unique 3 ,VE engine to weak &VSUR to Live (first one) . AVLS works only when using other music player than NOOZY...
In settings>>sound>>Music effects>>choose Noozxoide....
Just a tip..... I like this with my headphones & yes headphone quality also matters .................
@ adverbius :: thanks for input but can you pm me link for gapps you used ????????????
@ chemahg7 :: Nope currently English only to get other languages to work I need to decompile framework & service & messout there
enjoyyyyyyyyy

I should've been more specific. Clean wipe, each time. Cleared dalvic afterwards. Always check it on music effects. (Been doing this since I found Awesome beats months ago.) There is no audio enhancements when I use them. I put the bass boost on Awesome Beats, mess with the equalizer, ect. Nothing happens. Loaded up the Noozyoxide one, again, nothing happens. Put on that SRS enhancement, audiophile, equalizer, nothing. When I put the vanilla awesome beats one after a clean wipe without installing the ACID ones is when the enhancement kicks in. ACID is still there so I guess its working in tandem with vanilla?
So I did a fresh wipe and reflashed Altonus JB, this time with ACIDS sound mod see if it was just ACID acting like a jerk but ACID Awesomebeats/Noozyoxide actually work with that ROM. I dunno what else to tell you? Maybe it's a permissions issue that's not letting it happen? I could be the only one. It was working for me in your ICS rom.
Radio
Radio is not working like the kfazz's ROM
@ chemahg7 : Ok let me check it.. Can you provide me logcat.

What's working and what's not?
Working:
Camera - Yes, this means Camcorder also works! 1080P Video shooting and playback work great.
Bluetooth
WiFi
Audio
SD Card Storage
Battery Meter
And of course Hardware Acceleration!
Not Working:
RIL (Mobile Network) - This means no calls, no SMS, no Data, no anything related to the functions of your SIM Card! T-Mobile WiFi Calling also doesn't work.
Information On Dual Booting Roms
Since we currently have an issue with the network radio on our CM10 roms, most people will not be able to use this rom as a daily driver, and would prefer to stay on a fully functioning GB rom. This dual booting method lets us have the best of both worlds! You can have a buttery smooth and fast CM10 rom for enjoying all of Android Jellybean 4.2.1 goodies and a fully function Gingerbread rom when ever you need to make a call and such. For now, this is the best we can do. It's simple and very fast to switch between roms. What else could you ask for? ;D
Installation Instructions Including Dual Booting
DISCLAIMER
I (WE) AM NOT RESPONSIBLE of any damages to your device related to the use of this ROM or the dualboot toolkit. You do this at your own risk. Even though this has been tested and works well, using NVFLASH may brick your device if done incorrectly.
This ROM comes in two flavours: The dualboot toolkit or the Original flashable ROM
Dualboot ROM Instructions
WARNING! NVFLASH will format EVERYTHING, including internalSD. Make sure you backup your important files on your externalSD card
PART 1 - Resizing system partition
1) Unzip the dualboot toolkit and unzip NVFLASH_Resizer-G2X.zip.
2) Power off your phone and remove the battery. Keep vol. up and vol. down held and plug the phone via USB to a WINDOWS computer.
3) Windows should add an "APX driver". Go to control panel -> Device manager and right click on it -> Update driver -> search in system. Then, browse to the drivers folder inside the NVFLASH package and choose nvidiausb.inf. Approve any error messages (Windows 8 users read my FAQ). Install the Nvidia Fastboot driver.
4) Unplug your phone and hold down vol.up and vol.down. Replug it again and double click on flash.bat inside the NVFLASH folder. KEEP BOTH BUTTONS HELD DOWN DURING THE WHOLE PROCESS!.
5) When NVFLASH is done, unplug the phone and put back the battery. Reboot into recovery with power + vol. down. Plug it back and go to mounts and storage -> mount USB storage. If your PC asks to format the internal SD card, select yes.
PART 2 - Installing ROMS
1) Download the desired "call/SMS" ROM and extract boot.img from it's flashable zip. Rename it to boot1.img. Extract Step3_bootimg.zip from the dualboot toolkit and copy-paste boot1.img into system/boot, replacing the file that is already there. Repack Step3_bootimg.zip.
2) Copy-paste your desired ROM into the 0dualboot folder and send it to your device SDcard with everything it contains (your device should already be in the "mount USB storage" menu).
3) From the recovery, flash Step1_enabler.zip. When the screen goes black, hold power + vol. down to get back into recovery.
4) Flash your desired ROM, then Step2_ROM1.zip. Reboot to the OS.
5) You should have a Systemchanger app. Open it, click on "Switching" and give root permissions. When the screen goes black (again...), hold power + vol. down to get into recovery.
6) Flash ROM2.zip and Step3_Bootimg.zip and reboot in the OS
And there you go! To switch from one OS to another, just open the systemchanger app and click on "switching"!
Credits to bihariel for the original method. See the original thread here.
Original flashable zip ROM instructions
1) Boot into recovery with power + vol. down
2) Wipe data/cache, then mounts and storage -> format system
3) Flash this ROM
4) Advanced -> Wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions
5) Reboot and enjoy!
Special trick : In settings, go to About phone and click 6 times on Build number. This will pop up the developer and performances options. In performances options, CPU settings, change the governor from INTERACTIVE to SMARTASSV2.

Mazout Kernel on Stock 2.3.4
I flashed Mazout360's GB kernel over kwes' rooted 2.3.4/March 2012 basebannd. Was running pretty smooth, but had some problems
> Bluetooth icon at top of screen did not turn off "connected" status when I turned off my headset (BlueAnt q2.1)
> Had a few freezes. Installed SetCPU to keep max speed at 1015MHz but still some stops. Some out of nowhere, some in the middlle of doing stuff
> Finally started shutting down often. Tried to get a terminal emulator from the Market, but Market started crashing, even after several reboots. Could not get a kmsg to send.
Reinstalled my nandroid. No time at the moment to play more, need my phone reliable for some days to come. Hope lots of people try this kernel out and that I get more time with it. Nice to have new Dev activity for the G2x.
Quick question, i was wondering if it matters what zip tool we are using? Can i use 7zip for this, or should i use winzip?

Shouldn't matter, but I always use Winrar.
Micro SD card not detected
I was following along the steps and everything was going well until step 5 in part 1. when i rebooted my phone into recovery and pulged it into the PC nothing happened even though i followed exactly what the steps say, then i continued on and everything was going well until the end, where i found out that i couldn't get the data that I backed up to my Micro SD card because the phone doesn't see it.
Please help, I'm a noob around here.
I appreciate all the great work

No it didn't. My build computer broke and I need to setup a new HDD with my build environment. I'll make a new version as soon as possible.
hello,
I have dualboot now with hellfire2.4.2 and cm10 mazout's. So one is cm 7 and the other one is cm 10, I want to flash kernel but how? If I flash cm7 kernel will it block the cm10 rom or vice-versa?
guys I have just realized that I do not have dualboot after that steps
5) You should have a Systemchanger app. Open it, click on "Switching" and give root permissions. When the screen goes black (again...), hold power + vol. down to get into recovery.
6) Flash ROM2.zip and Step3_Bootimg.zip and reboot in the OS
I had systemchanger app and clicked on switching after that I flashed mazout's rom then when I open app drawer in cm10 rom, I noticed that I do not have systemchanger app anymore nor camera app.?? what should I do? If I do all steps all over again sould it be working ?

If you flash another ROM, you have to flash the corresponding stepX....zip file right after before rebooting, else you won't have the dualboot app.
Since android 4.2.2 just got out, I'll wait until it gets stable and make my upcoming build out of it For now, my phone battery doesn't work very well so I can't really test anything until I get a new one.
Hey. I got everything to work and am dualbooting nicely. My problem is kernel. I flashed a recent CM7 with this and everything went fine. Then I went to install the most recent CM7 kernel from Maz (the OC) and that works until I switch to Rom2 and back. Then the wifi gets an error and wont do anything. The kernel wont stick. Did I miss something?
Also, last night went to bed with my phone charging and when I woke up my phone was burning hot. Had Max OC at 1100.
Thanks! Works great having a taste of 4.2.1 and a phone!

thank you, I see the problem now, and two question more; do I have to redo PART 1 - Resizing system partition everytime when I install different rom combinations or reinstall same roms and does that Resizing system partition harmful/useless or slows down the phone IF I only use 1 ROM?
I'm considering the dual boot, but want to know if it's possible to go back to single boot if/[hopefully] when radio is fixed. I suppose it'll be a matter of using original nvflash and format to have only one partition?
*edit1* Ok, now I'm getting my toes wet with this. fastboot.bin...what am I doing with this? The instructions say "install NVidia fast boot." Ok, but how? Or, has it already been installed with APX? I'm confused.
*edit2* ok I have dual boot! Wow this is interesting. Been running it through different combinations of reboots through system changer, and it seems when I update gb to the latest mazkrnl it won't stick after switching to jb and back again.
Do I need to use the boot.img from the kernel and repack it into step3?
Sent from my LG-P999
Oh shoots. Somewhere along the line I managed to break the wifi
MAC address comes up as unavailable in jb, just says error whenever I try to turn it on in gb. I'm thinking start the process over?

You need to flash a kernel. I am having the same problem, but flashing a kernel after switching back to GB fixes everything.
Edit: fyi I use maz's latest kernel 0205OC

So, you mean that after using system switcher app, do power+vol up and flash kernel? Because any time I've tried that it only works on the first instance when i boot into gb. Once i go to jb and back again, the kernel goes back to stock. I'll try again though. Maybe fix permissions too!

When you system switch back to GB, reboot back into recovery and flash a kernel. I wouldn't say it goes back to stock because if it did there wouldn't be a wifi error like that. But for some reason JB works fine nothing wrong I have seen yet, though I just noticed I don't have a camera/gallery.
After switching back and forth so much I just flash the kernel and don't do anything else because nothing has seemingly changed if I wipe anything or fix anything.
If Maz has answer for this I would be much appreciated or anyone else for that matter.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Edit: figured it out. A new boot1.img does need to get made with the new kernel already installed.
I created a new boot.img per the instructions on the original dual boot for p990 thread with maz kernel. Then I repacked step3_bootimg. Reflashed rom2 and the step3, then voila! So, you have to redo a couple steps if you want to update one rom's kernel.
Pic no longer related.
guys im having some trouble, when i go to the systemchanger app and grant permission instead of the screen going blank it gets stuck on a screen with two lg logos.
i think i havent installed the fastboot drivers correctly. i assumed it gets installed when i run flash.bat, but it may need to be installed seperately. if it needs to be installed how do i do it cause its just a .bin file and i have no idea what to do with it
