iNew i2000 - General Topics

I ordered a iNew I2000 from geekbuying http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Inew...-Android-4-1-OS-3G-GPS-Grey-White-314413.html
It's got decent specs:
-1.2 Ghz mtk6589 soc
-sgx544 gpu
-5.7 inch IPS 1280x720 720p screen
-1GB ram
-8GB nand
-bluetooth 2.0
-wifi b/g/n
-3.2MP front camera
-13MP rear camera
Some videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3JuAo2T3hg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU1PMoILCl4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Udo4KNdSgmg
All in all it looks like a very solid device. I expecting to use it as a tablet replacement with phone and possibly 3g if I choose the right network.
I'd like to start modding it right after I finish reviewing it.
I'm most excited about this 720p phone...the only other phone I'm interested in the iOcean X7(1080p, 2GB ram, and CHEAP!)
I'm located in NY and only speak 3 languages so I''m limited to google translate for the info I do find.
Does anyone have any advice on how to root or use cwm on this cheap chinese beast?
Does anyone have a link to the stock rom for it?
Thanks in advance!

I need the root system too, please help.

I found a whole bunch of good info over at htcmania:

Great! Work fine. Thank you. But don't work PlayMareket. Any idea?

I'm waiting for mine to get here, when it does I'll look into that.
I'll also post up a full review.

I've posted up a review of the iNew i2000 over on armtvtech.

GREAT(!!!) review. Thanks.
You wrote GPS connection takes 3-5 minutes. Surprising as A-GPS enabled devices usually work connect in around 20 secs.
But then again - you said GSM reception is bad in your area, so mabe few antennas.
for comparison - how long does it take the S3 to connect to GPS? Is it much quicker than the i2000?

Around my home area the GS3 also takes 3-5 minutes and GPS Test shows only picks up 5 satellites.
The iNew i2000 picked up 6 satellites although one was a bit weak.
So I'd say they were about equal on the GPS reception front.
I've also got a OG Motorola Droid, Acer A100, and Motorola Photon. All except the Photon take 3-5 minutes...the Photon takes 10 minutes to connect and I have to hold it to the sky like I'm pray to some sort of sun god.

I posted up a flashing guide, stock firmware, and my own rooted firmware with cwm installed at:

i get about 200kbp through put. ONCE it ACTUALLY said 'tmobile 3g' under network operators scan but it failed to connect. does anyone know the absolutely positive correct settings for this phone to get 3g on tmobile? is it possible?
thanks for any help!!

Hi
Im thining of getting this phone but I can only get the 1gig ram and 4gig nand Basic version.
Do you think the 4.2 rom will flash\work ok with this version?
thanks
EDIT= I got the N7300 EX coming soon. The phone and hardware look the same as the i2000.
may take a chance on seeing if the 4.2 i2000 rom works with it

no 3g signal on T-mobile
I see there have not been any posts on this thread for a couple months. I hope there are some still reading it. I bought a iNew i2000 a couple months ago from Aliexpress.com and couldn't get any signal with it so
I sent it back to them. After about 30 days I received it back and it gets signal now but only 2g Edge. I use
T-mobile USA. and I would really like to get a 3g signal with it. Aliexpress said they worked on the antenna
but I don't think so. I think it is a software issue. I have read that only AT&T will give this phone 3g in the
USA. I hope not because I love this phone.

[Q] MID Tablet M9000/F900 (AllWinner A10??)

Greetings,
While I been a tech for 20years supporting the WinTel systems, I am a noob to Android and ROM programming. I needed to be portable, and being unemployed didn't leave many cost-options available. I picked up a China knockoff called the MID M9000 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/330779120701?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649).
What I can confirm on it is that it does run a Cortex A8 (I guess that means it is a AllWinner A10??) running Android ICS 4.04. A look under About Tablet shows Model Number F900, Baseband Version 1.4rc3 Kernel 3.0.8 [email protected] #2 Fir Jul 27 10:27:12 CST 2012 Build Number 20120716-F900.I have some flakiness with the screen, the performance seems poor with alot of waits and do I want to kill the app. I have gone through with Android Assistance and Advanced Task Manager to kill off any background apps, loads, etc. Still no luck.
Funny thing someone dumped in my lap a cheapy Sylvania SYNET7WIC 7" Smartbook with Windows CE 7 this past week. I searched and found you could bootload MODROID (Android 2.2 mod) ROM and I get more responsiveness on that WM8650 CPU than I am getting from this Cortex A8. So I am hoping it is just a bad build, and like the SYNET7WIC be happily surprised with a Mod for my Cortex A8 to improve it as well.
I tried over at CM, but there seems to be no discussion about MID tablets. I found the Christian Troy AllWinner A10 thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821398) but as I am not a DEV, I can't post to that thread to ask for help. All feedback or assistance is welcome, especially pointing to the right ROM and other parts I should use (I believe I have the right instructions) on how to do my first reimage to Jelly Bean. Thanks!
This seems to be a F900 tab

I think this is a f900 generic chinese tab and a replica of this one http://temtop.en.alibaba.com/produc...13_1_5GHz_Cortex_A8_800_X_480_9_Inch_MID.html
I have the same tab and I was finding it hard to get a stable ROM to replace my factory ROM which had much more serious issues. I used this one on my tab and its been running much better now.
http://www.azhuo.net/en/products_F9...Capacitive_Android_4.0_Tablet_PC_Upgrade.html
Please note I still face issues with slowness and I need to reboot my tab everytime I play a resource intensive app/ game. I think its more to do with the hardware than with the firmware.

Recently purchased a similar tablet from http://www.agptek.com/New-Android-4.0-MID-7-inch-Capacitive-TouchScreen-Tablet-458-96-1.html. I flashed Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 for many AllWinner A10 tablets with the MOMO9 compatibility zip; as the MOMO9 specs are identical to my tablet. Running very smooth, alot faster and more stable than the original ICS 4.0.3.
Where did yuo download the rom flash from? How has it been working for you? Are you still running it on 4.0.3, or are you on 4.0.4 now? I just got a Mid M9000 and kinda regretting it now, but if I can flash it, to a better rom, that would be awesome.
Thanks
Tim
MaiPan
Howdy,
Actually I scored instead MaiPan MX913 img file at Maipad dot net . I was reading some reviews because this is a a single core device, and they are now pushing out quad core tablets now, because any attempt with this chipset to do Jelly Bean results in the touch screen stop responding (I have tried three or four already). I think also the problem is how 'low end' the single core is, and is why they are dumping these like crazy.
I have actually seen quite a few posts that some still don't get good ICS response no matter the img file, and so regress back to Froyo with alot of positive results. I dunno if there is a patch with the Froyo to compensate for the changes to Adobe Flash and now the Java scripting changes, if your still not happy with the results from MaiPan.
I was going to sell mine on ebay, but now I might give it a try with the December img at MaiPan and seems to be pretty snappy, but won't replace my laptop where I can open several web pages at the same time I think. I will let you know how the latest image works as I am intending to test this weekend.

Think I'll try the A10 AllWinner and see if that works.

Wow. Yes. Maybe. Here is my sad story with a rare happy ending:
I ordered a MID9000 from No More Racks--BIG MISTAKE!--When, a couple of months later, it finally arrived (to my surprise), I set it up and was delighted to find that it actually worked. Up until.....5 weeks later, I left it on the charger overnight and that killed it. It appears these units are susceptible to overcharging. It would not boot past the "android" screen. Well, being an android noob, I was clueless. I finally discovered the Kocaso site that had downloads for the image files. It is here (but seeing I'm a new user I cannot post the link). However, the software that they recommend for installing the firmware did not work on my Windows 7 unit. Further search brought me here (but seeing I'm a new user I cannot post the link but it is on the Tablet Mods site), which clearly explained how to download and use LiveSuit to install firmware from a PC to an android tablet. And so. Back to the mymidpad firmware page! If you check the m9000 firmware, there are 4 possibilities. It says to check your serial number on the back to determine which one to use. Woe is me--my m9000 had no serial number. What the heck did I have? And so, I tried all 4 possibilities. NONE of them worked. They all installed OK, but the touchscreen would not respond. At that point, I was ready to throw the machine in the garbage. But one last chance: I tried to install one of the images given for the M9100 (M9100f), and to my shock, it worked like a charm and my machine is working better than ever. Go figure! I suspect that my M9000 actually is a M9100, at least in part. Who knows. I'm happy, for the time being. The moral is: be careful you don't overcharge these units!
my problem is that the touch stopped working ...
hey I have the same problem and I can not fix !!!! I have the same model. please help !!!!

Just received mine today
Hi davidayling,
I just received mine today (from: hongkongeek[dot].com since they promised to refund customs and VAT); excellent and quick service btw!
This is the first time I bought one of these china phones; encouraged by the many and mostly positive reports...
About the Phone:
+ To me it does look and feel just like the high quality brand phones
+ NOT A SINGLE CHINA APP!!! Just vanilla 4.2.1 - very good performance; smooth animations, transitions
+ 3800 mah battery - though I'm not sure if it really will deliver that much energy - but it says 3.800 on the label at least
+ Display (likely really an IPS): bright (even outside), wide viewing angle - very close to the front glass; comes very close to Samsung S3 amoled
+ 2nd battery included; additional flip cover included
+ Pen looks like a real S-Pen - no softtip; anyway the capacitative finger-touch recognition is not stopped when using the pen; so that can cause inconvenience when using it
+ GREAT (!) web browsing experience: 5,7" & good performance with JS-rich web-apps (like groupware web-clients)
+ Dual-SIM (with dual standby); however just one line can be used at the same time; and only one is WCDMA capable.
+ Worked on two carrier networks instantly
- no compass; well my last phone had one; I'm not sure if I really need one
- 220g = 170g phone + 50g battery - it's not a feather...
I am actually planning to flash CWM & root it; also I haven't tried out the GPS yet - So I'll be back regarding this later.
Many greet's from the hights of the austrian alps!

Hi Guys,
I found this thread and I was wondering if anyone can answe my question: has the s-pen any functionality like the original note2? I mean, something like opening the quick-notes on double tap or something like that? If not, does it have any functionality at all?
Thanks
Hi, the pen has no specific functionality; it's basically useful for exact "clicking" in the browser for example, or drawing sketches...

Hi everyone,
Here are some Pictures of the camera to see it's quality... took them in the 12mpix mode - camera and gallery work very quickly even with pics that large... not sure if the image size is reduced by the forum software.
And yes...
... we still have snow on the mountains, the strawberries are still green and my chihuahua enjoys the sun...
Also I can report that the battery is really as strong as expected, after 3 cycles of complete drain and recharging the indicator works correctly. Even when using it extensively (frequent webbrowsing, phonecalls of a regular business day) it reliably carries me through the day... the weekend left me with 25 % after two days. Standy with wlan on does not consume considerably much... great!
As allready said, it's easily rootable. Also I'm using the apex-launcher so I could increase the number of icons on the homescreens to 5x8, increase the number of screens to 9... it's a pleasure!

i have the star n9599 since few days. It works great, also bluetooth and usb service is better for me than galaxy s3 (in my bmw the star works very well, S3 works not good).
Display: the brightness is good, the black not so good; No crash, a little bit heavy but a very good battery.
The (s)pen is not so good, too much noise when you write on the screen and i haven't find a good app for note with the pen.
Rooted in few minutes.
I only have 2 problems: i can't update maps app (it seem play store can't install in the original path, i have also uninstalled previous version but the problem remains.
The second one is that i can't see facebook photos (or dropbox photos) in the stock gallery app (any idea?)
The settings app doesn't seem to be complete.
sorry for my bad english
Hi,
Regarding maps - i had this with google search... probably caused by inserting an sd card. I guess it is related to the default data location changing after inserting an sd card. So maybe you could try to set the default saving location to the internal memory in the system settings, then update, and reset the default location to sd-card again.
Let us know, if this helped, pls.

Android 4.1.2 anyone for the N9599 Star
Hello,
I have serious issues with my Start N9599 phone running on 4.2.1 The sound is so bad that with a bluetooth earpiece or carkit that it is totally unusable.
I tried everything but read it is a bug in 4.2.1.
Now i am desperately searching for some time now for the Android 4.1.2 rom that these phones were also running on before.
Anyone knows were i can find it?! how to flash it?
Any answer is much appreciated.
Thinking in buying a clone phone
morning / evening.
I have been working exploring searching the web for the best chinese clone phones out there in the market to begin a small bussiness and I was wondering if you people can guide me if there is a "good reputation " website to which purchase the STAR N9599 or other one with a 64 gb tf storage in it or 32 gb storage ?
Thank you
:fingers-crossed:
what micro sd card you recommend for the N9599
What type of micro sd card would you recommend for the n9599?
Thanks

Hi puentejo,
the N9599 according to specs supports up to 32 GB. I am using a 16 GB - giving me really more than I need for pictures, music, ... take a fast one!

Hello,
I just noticed this phone too and there is even a thread about it on XDA (yay )
What are your thoughts about this phone?
the only thing im afraid about is because I heard STAR and some chinese branded phones are unreliable and may suddenly stop work one day.. is it true? or STAR is a reliable company?
I saw it being sold for 213$ for the mtk 6589T version..so.. overall, should I get this phone? how is its size compared to the note 2 ? is it much larger? or about the same? will it be hard to grip it? I mean it's 5.7.. even the note is 5.5 lol
Thanks!~

Is this phone sold in country, or are you going to import it from china? Because if not, I would not recommend you a chinese phone. If it is defective you'll have a hard time returning it (if you can at all) etc.
Btw, if you come from iPhone, I strongly recommend you Google-listed devices (assume you live in the US, it would be HTC One, Nexus 5, SGS4) that come with the stock Android UI. They are updated as soon Google pushes out updates, which is closer what you experience on the iPhone.
Since chinese phones except for Huawei ones are rarely supported in XDA (they lack documentation, source etc) I would not recommend you a chinese phone if you want to try out new ROMs.
If you are ready to take the risks there you go. But as a first time Android user, no way I would go with that phone.
My recommendation for you is the Nexus 5. Hope this helps.
i have to import from china. im a symbian user im sorry i forgot to mentioned where i live. im from sri lanka and no play store available. no way to get a nexus 5. even if somehow managed get my hands on a nexus 5 it would costs me around 550-600$.

If it has to be a chinese phone then I suggest you the Xiaomi Mi3. Great User Interface (MIUI), great update support and best hardware for little money. Xiaomi is also highley popular, it is being regarded like Apple in china.
Go straight for Nubia, it has the best specs out there and far away the best price. I just order it btw.

Good question, in deed I just got a Nubia z5s 3 weeks ago.
(I used to be a Moto supporter, but got disappointed by Moto's sales policy - however, CDMA users can hardly have so many choices as others. forget HTC, bad quality.)
Somebody mentioned Xiaomi, I don't think it's a good option. Nubia's hardware spec is almost the same as Xiaomi, but Xiaomi's shipment and sales policy will drive you crazy. You have to attend to a luck draw first, then could have a chance to buy one!
Regarding the experience, herein I only talk about my experience.
1. BATTERY:
From 7am to 10pm, medium use, about 75% is consumed.
2. DISPLAY:
Much better than MOTO X  , 1080p. Also, the color is not so cold as Samsung.
3. VOICE&MESSAGE:
Fairly clear, however the location of Mic is just under USB port. sometimes your finger could swipe it when picking up.
As CM user, very delighted to see vibrate setup in "settings", SMS also designed with popup
4. CAMERA
I didn't test too much. However, the respond speed is satisfying.
5. SOFTWARE
a. I have to acknowledge that the UI design is lower than my expectation, especially the icons. Styles in default apps and system UI are not actually unique. But most Androider will change the launcher at soonest, am I right? (ps. I really hate Samsung's UI and the screen density!)
b. Furthermore, the system compatibility...there's no surprise, also no fetal bugs.
c. Seemed Nubia team learnt a lot from CM team. They just released source CODE on their website.
d. It can be ROOTED easily.
e. Some local team has ported CWM RECOVERY on it. Nice job!
f. It's said MIUI by local team is on the way. Also, some guy is working on its AOSP now.
6. AUDIO
Sorry but I never play songs via cell phone. Somebody has idea?
7. DESIGNING
I spent almost one week to get familiar with the weight - it's too light
8. NETWORK
GSM/TD/CDMA, not sure if it can be used in Verizon network?
In conclusion, it didn't disappoint me. I'd be delighted to see more improvements or 3rd party's works on ROMs in near future.
Guys, is this phone suitable for the dutch network and.if flashed with multi language you can use dutch language?

[Q] HOW TO ROOT? 5.5 inch N8000 Android 4.2 3G MTK6582 Quad Core 1.3GHz 1GB 4GB QHD S

Hi Everyone,
I just bought a phone from everbuying.com - 5.5 inch N8000 Android 4.2 3G Phablet MTK6582 Quad Core 1.3GHz 1GB 4GB QHD Screen 13.0MP Camera Gesture Sensing GPS
I need to know if anyone has a suggestion of what I should use to ROOT this phone, I have never bought a phone from overseas (I'm in Canada), and I have always rooted my phones (so I can use firewall and tracking programs and benefit from all the other features from having a rooted phone)
I don't plan on flashing a new ROM or doing anything like that with this phone (yet) - I just want to root it. I am not having any luck finding a program or much info on rooting this phone.
Any help would be much appreciated. I should be getting this phone in the mail in a week or two.
Thanks! Rebecca

Please let us know if this method works. I've looked at a few phones/tablets on ever buying and wondered if they were worth the aggrevation of ordering a phone overseas.
