The Octa is definitely the better if the two, but battery-life still needs investigating.
octa better in GPU and worse to CPU
Oh sorry read it wrong, wow 533mhz, way faster than the iPhones.

First of all, there is no confirmation that GT-I9505 aka LTE edition is using Snapdragon 600.

How did you come to that conclusion ? The A15 should perform a lot faster(check benchmarks for 5250 and Tegra4). The Octa has the added benefit of a custom audio processor which means it'll probably have much better AQ as well. No point in getting the S4 with the s600 if the Octa is available. LTE is not worth sacrificing everything else for. The S3 is even better value IMHO than the i9505 at this point.

That is not what I consider to be a reputable source. TaskuMuro got a confirmation from Samsung themselves that the i9505 would be the only model coming to Finland due to it being the only one with LTE support for the 1800/2600mhz bands.

Tegra 4 is technically superior.
CPU performance might be similar but
The GPU on Tegra 4 is 2x faster (90.2GFlops) than PowerVR SGX544MP3 (50.2GFlops)
I cannot wait for a Tegra 4 device.

No unlikely. Based on their trends from S2 to Note, S3 to Note 2
They just overclock their processor exactly 0.2 Ghz.
No chance you're getting a better GPU.

Noticed something weird - all 16Gb versions are listed as i9505 while all 32Gb version are listed as i9500. Maybe the only way to get the octa is to get the 32Gb version?(check the product code from Samsung)

Samsung has just unveiled a new System-on-chip (SoC) for future mobile devices. It’s the Exynos 5250 that boasts two Cortex-A15 chips clocked at 2GHz. The dual-core Exynos 5250 is created using a 32nm-low power HKMG process and is said to double the performance when compared to a 1.5GHz dual-core SoC based on Cortex-A9.
In addition to improved processing performance, Exynos 5250 features graphics performance improved by four times compared to Cortex-A9-based Application Processors, supports stereoscopic 3D displays and a display resolution of up to WQXGA (2560×1600).
Samsung says the new Exynos chip will be used in high-end tablets and will be mass produced sometime in the second quarter of next year.

4x the Mali-400MP eh, I guess that means a new GPU. I wonder which one since the Mali-T604 won't be out until 2013.
Could be S3 material, the timing (Q2) matches.
Perhaps the GPU is the SGX543's successor ?

Initially this SoC will be available to Galaxy series Tablets and not for Smartphones.....

The long awaited Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched in India yesterday, it is the Exynos 5 Octa version of the handset that has been launched in India. Developed by Samsung and using the ARM big.LITTLE architecture, the handset is expected to deliver exceptional battery life.
While the chip does have eight processing cores, the heavy lifting is to be done by four of the Cortex A15 type chips clocked at 1.6Ghz. Meanwhile the remaining four Cortex A7 chips running at 1.2Ghz will assist during less intensive tasks.

From what I'm seeing the snapdragon will have better developer support, the CPU scores about the same as the Exynos, the Adreno 320 is a newer GPU, so while it doesn't have the speed of the 544, it probably has support for newer tech and it's proven unlike the Exynos.
I just think there is no real reason to get the Exynos and every review says no LTE support so......

I don't think you will see much difference in benchmarks. Maybe bit better as the clocks are higher compared to 5410 1st-gen octa. But the biggest advantage should be batterylife. Now any task can run on any core and GTS can make use of any combination of cores to perform the task. This is lot better compared to cluster-migration technique. I am more interested in batterylife results.
You will still get more results than the SD800, but it comes with a killup of features.. as recording is not possible on exynos at 4K

i dont think 4k really matters to people. i'm pretty sure not many people own a 4k tv/monitor. and if they do they probably would want a real camera to record it with. with OIS.
The sweet thing about the Exynos 5420 is that it uses a Mali T628 MP6 instead of the PowerVR SGX544MP3 like the 5410 used. Also sound quality should be better on the Exynos variant because it should be using a wolfston DAC. Since the Exynos one does not have LTE I will be stuck with the Snapdragon variant.

Bad Exynos 5410 is caused by CCI. It will cause lag and bad battery life. It fixed in Exynos 5420. Good battery life and good performance.
I'm hand-on S800 and Exynos 5420 version and can't find out who better.
S800 is better in graphics? Nope. The same. In benchmark, 3DMark for example, high VGA memory is used to store texture. In S800, 512MB is configurated to VGA. And in Exynos 5420, it just 320MB. (Some ram is used in LTE/HSPA baseband, touchscreen,...). Result is S800 is better in offscreen benchmark due to a lot texture is stored in ram. But in on-screen or free ram, Exynos 5420 are much better. After 3 hours of use, ram used is bumped up to 2,2-2,3GB in Exynos 5420 but i can't see any lag because free ram is 400MB but in S800 (my friend), he feel some lag, free ram only 100-200MB. Clean up ram and it will be ok.
Battery in 2 version is the same. Difference not too much to notice.
But, note 3 is just a note. We use it because we can store and note everything, not simple to benchmark it.

The increased memory buffers on the Snapdragon likely are going to the camera and other such things as 4K recording.

There was a bit of a scandal with the Octa SGS4 because it was discovered that Exynos 5410 only supported one of the two big.LITTLE operating modes. There are two: migration mode (1-4 A7 cores or 1-4 A15 cores running at the same time) and heterogeneous multi processing mode (HMP) where 1-8 cores can be running at the same time. The new Exynos 5420 chip in the N3 now supports HMP which should really improve high-end performance. We'll have to see what it does to battery life.
This is a good explanation of what was wrong in 5410 (SGS4) and what's new in 5420 (N3)...

I have a feeling it will end up being a success. It might even being what's put into the S5. I'm sure it might be an upgraded version of it but it will mainly be the same chip.
Right now the most powerful chip is the S800. I'm not sure about the new Octa-Core as far as being more powerful but it could definitely be more efficient. That's soon going to be what people want as you only need so much power for a phone. I'm sure Samsung will implement there own envelope tracker down the road but from what I've read. There new Octa-Core going in the Note 3 doesn't have one. The S800 version of the Note 3 is the only phone to date to have one. If it works as well as they say. It will be great.

So its running 4 A7s+ 4 A15s at one go? 4 express and 4 normal lanes?

Are you sure intl Note 3 is going to get 5420? Samsung says end of Q4 and Note 3 is coming this 25th.

That's like 5 days from Q4!
The main issue with 5410 is certain hardware constraint. For 5420, it's just a matter of software upgrade. Exynos Dev AndreiLux has mentioned it a few times.
It will never have HMP.
AndreiLux said:
The only thing needed from Samsung is a working MCPM backend which we already have on the 5420. Getting HMP working is a matter of upstreaming the kernel core to 3.11 and that's it. I'm talking about the 5420 here as that's just a matter of software, not 5410 where it's physically not possible.

Hi
Discuss and Compare Note III Exynos vs. Qualcomm
General Performance
- Performance of Gaming
- Performance of (using another apps)
Battery Life
& etc.
Note III N9000 will brings real Octa-Core /Exynos 5 Octa 5420 (N9000)
It means u have 4+4 cores to work with true 3GB of RAM; it seems best thing for multi-taskers...
and it might get best cpu performance (highest benchmark) even with bad hardware calibration!
Adreno 330 N9005 (Snapdragon) & Mali-T628 MP6 N9000 (Exynos) are almost similar
both have OpenCL, OpenGL ES 3.0, Renderscript Compute and etc.
infact thr s no technical reasons to get which one is better
so in my opinion in depend on ROM how to use GPU
S-Lag
the famous lag in launcher of galaxy device (touch wiz) > not found anything about it yet
But it s depend on time when do heavy using. so nothing to compare
Battery and charge
both Snapdragon 800 & Exynos 5420 (little.BIG) have energy efficient feature but there s better energy usage in N9005 (Snapdragon800) related to this video, Watch and some another report.
(will update with more choice and result)

Qualcomm version wins hands down...maybe not in benchmarks but it will get cm for shure
These threads are pretty useless,we don't even have any information about real life performance of Exynos Note 3 and since it is certainly first soc of its own type ,we will have to see.
No offence to OP or any one
Edit:There are 2-3 threads discussing the same thing.

this thread will update with more info
this means it s not just for 1-2 days
it will work months after releasing the phone
and we have info about phone from preview version of note3 (~80% of performance and etc)
we have lots of benchmark and performance report
display quality, sound quality
So if u didn't check them search it NOW and then discuss here
:good:
which version do you think it will have the most dev support?
Even though i live in India where we are going to get the exynos version, I'd prefer the snapdragon version. Im new here, but doesnt 1.3 and 1.9GHz seem less for a high end premium smartphone? Also Snapdragon will get cm for sure,

maybe Quad-Cores version (Snapdragon) like S IV
:good:

as u can check benchmarks of Octa version of Galaxy S4 u can realize that Octa-core of course has better performance than quad
the final quad-core antutu of note3 will be ~34,000 and octa will be 35,000 (at least)
:good:
Some of the things I value are stability and low heat. I'm experiencing possible stability issues with Nexus 7 (2013) based on Snapdragon S4 Pro/600 where on level 10 in Modern Combat 3 it's not only heating up the device making it very warm but the game is also exiting consistently when this happens. I don't have that issue with the Exynos based Note II so I'm leaning towards preferring the Exynos 5420 in the Note III. Btw, Exynos is fabbed by Samsung while Snapdragon is fabbed by TSMC. IMHO, Samsung fab is better.
Sammy will include HMP in their octacore processors through a software upgrade .so all samsung octacore devices will become true octacore devices
So guess which will have high performance? Real octacore exynos 5420 or sd800??

i don't think samsung gonna unleash that real octa core or HMP thingy for gn3..they will save it for gs5..

Nope.. check out sammobile, their samsung insider claimed that sammy will bring HMP for every exynos 5xxx processors (from s4 onwards ) ,so be happy
Also for s5 they are gonna bring 64 bit processing architecture, same like iphone 5s , so they don't wanna save it for s5

While a cool feature, I'm not sure how many CPU bottlenecks are going to be multithreaded to the point that adding the four slower cores will provide a substantial benefit. I also have concerns that with all eight cores running, heat throttling would kick in pretty quickly. My guess would be that, both in benchmarks and in real-world situations, the 800 is usually going to come out on top.
In HMP this is what really gonna happen:
Small processes like texting, calling , etc... low powered A7 cpu's will be switched
Big processes like gaming , Benchmarking , 1080p video capturing etc... both A7 and A15 cores will be combined together and throttle the device upto the max perfomance
So the device will be power efficient and we can clearly see the dominated benchmark scores and RLP over sd 800 (this would be pretty like the perfomance b/w a dual cored device and a quad cored device)

Ah... that means the Tmo version is most likely going to be the Quadcore version as it uses the Qualcomm version on every iteration of the Galaxy devices.
I was hoping for a little Octocore fun but, it'll be pointless if I can't use the cell radio
