[Q] HTC One S Music problem ... - HTC One S

Hi guys,
I have an HTC One S Asian firmware with JB 4.1 installed and no root. I have a problem when I am playing music. Sometimes, when a song is played, the next song will not play until I push the lock button. Is there anyone else facing this problem ? Is this a bug ?
Thanks

Hi brother ...
Well, i have never had a problem like this, it sounds like a BUG, but, you can go to : Settings > Apps > All > Music > Clear Data also Clear Cash > Go back > Music Enhancer > do the same, if not, try some custom Music Players from the Play Store .
Cordially.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by updating to cyanogenmod 10.1, the music player now works perfectly. I used the 160313 nightly. Also, that update adds a lot of nice new features such as customisable lock screen widgets, customisable launcher and menu transitions and mostly the new clock.

Yes, you need an unlocked/s-off bootloader and a custom recovery.

You don't need s, off...

It must have been a bug with that specific version of cyanogenmod. I recommend that you go to a 10.1 nightly, or try Viper. You do NOT need S-OFF.

So, can you guide me please to fix this problem ? =D
cheers guys

Basically, CyanogenMod 10 had a buggy music player on the One S. This is fact. They have addressed the majority of these issues in 10.1, but some sacrifices will have to be made. For example, you will get some screen tearing when scrolling, but if your One S is relatively new (anything under nine months) then you won't have many problems with that. Also (this could be just specific to my phone, not sure about anybody else) when trying to connect to mobile data, you have three options. GPRS, HSPA+, or nothing (sadly, when you are tied to Orange, you will experience the third option rather frequently). However, I use music far more than I use mobile data, because I have a computer opposite my bed, and Jelly Bean 4.2 has some snazzy features such as lock screen widgets, and the new digital clock is far nicer than the old analogue one.
So, follow these steps:
- Boot your phone into bootloader and select recovery (if you do not have TWRP 2.3.3.0, flash that in fastboot USB first).
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
- Go back to main menu, reboot, reboot into bootloader.
- On your computer, open the .zip file for CM10.1 and copypasta the boot.img on the first screen into your Android SDK platform-tools folder.
- Open cmd, change destination to the platform-tools folder then type fastboot flash boot boot.img.
- Rename the CM10.1 folder to CM10.1 and on your phone's SD card make a folder called ROMs (easy for switching in the future).
- Then type adb push CM10.1.zip /sdcard/ROMs.
- If both transfers are successful, then close cmd, as it is no longer needed. Or keep it open, whatever floats your boat.
- Go back into TWRP, flash CM10.1.zip.
- Reboot the phone, let it optimise apps etc.
- Reboot into bootloader, select recovery.
- Flash gapps 4.2.2 - I don't think that 4.1 works. Then again, why would it, it's outdated.
- Reboot the phone.
These are to make cyanogenmod 10.1 work to its full potential:
- Drag the notification bar down, click the tiles button in the top right corner, select settings.
- Scroll down to and select Apps
- Find Clock and cLock. Clear data on both.
- Find Play Store. Clear data.
And you have a phone with the latest version of Android that HTC don't want you to have and a fully-functioning music player.
Just a hint - download Play Music. Excuse my language, but Apollo is a pile of ****e, worst music player I've come across in my life.

oO -->
Can you kindly specify more in detail because I am a complete totally noob when it comes to android. Thanks

[GUIDE][Nov.6] CM7 Bible - How-To & Fixes - Radio Bootloop Fix, Browser Fix and MORE!
FIRST POST IS HOW-TO, SECOND POST CONTAINS ALL THE FIXES AND WORKAROUNDS
GENERAL INFORMATION AND HOW-TO INSTALL / UPDATE CM7
Alright kids,
We are all very happy that CM7 finally came out to play. And we thank kmobs and the whole CM7 team for all the hard work. They are just... AWESOME!
But while we have that, we also have a lot of people that are either first time android users, or that are just too busy to follow the thread, or just are too lazy (nothing wrong with that, im lazy too )
So here is a guide on how to install CM7, and I will gather all the fixes from the other thread, and will also if I forget something - let me know what I am forgetting and will add it in this thread.
Now here we go:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~I am not to be held responsible if you brick your device following these guides. If you brick it - blame Santa, not me!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
INSTALLING CM7
To install CM7 on your device, you need to first download it from HERE. Once you do that - please follow the next steps:
Code:
1. - Put the ROM on your SD card
2. - Reboot into CWM Recovery
3. - Do a Nandroid backup of your current rom. Just in case.
4. - Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5. - Wipe Cache
6. - Go into Mounts
7. - Format /system
----- I always do that, and dont have a single issue..
8. - Flash your Rom
9. - Go into Advanced, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Fix Permissions
10. - Reboot phone
Alright, once you are done with the reboot, it will start loading the ROM. Let it be for around 10 minutes, so its done with everything. Dont set it up, Dont do ANYTHING. Just watch some youtube, or have a beer, or call that girlfriend of yours. Now after the 10 minutes are done (or at least 40 minutes if you talked with the girlfriend ) - reboot the phone again.
INSTALLING GOOGLE APPS
Now its time to get Market, Gmail and all the other goods.
Here is the newest google apps - HERE
Now download the newest Talk with video - HERE
Once you do that - Put them on your SD card and reboot into CWM Recovery and follow the steps:
Code:
1. - Do a nandroid backup of your current ROM. Just in case things go south.
2. - Flash the Google Apps
3. - [B][I][U]AFTER THAT[/U][/I][/B] flash the gapps with new Talk
4. - Wipe Cache
5. - Go to advanced
6. - Wipe Dalvik Cache
7. - Fix Permissions
8. - Reboot Phone
Now set them up, and you are set. You have MARKET!
UPDATING FROM AN OLDER BUILD
If you already had the CM7 on your device, and want to install to the latest Alpha - follow the instructions:
Code:
1. - Download New Update
2. - Reboot into CWM Recovery
3. - DO A NANDROID BACKUP!!!!
4. - Install the new update
5. - Wipe Cache
6. - Go into Advanced, and wipe Dalvik Cache
7. - Reboot and enjoy the newest Alpha!
8. - If it runs worst than the build you had before, and you didnt do a backup - blame yourself and Santa for destroying Christmas, and start over.
RECOMMENDED RADIO
persiansown said:
I recommend using radio 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01 because this is the radio that we personally tested.
Please note flashing someone else's kernel may ruin your experience with this rom and I advise against it. This rom was a joint effort between Bumblebee, cretin45, toastcfh, defer, myself, and the rest of the CM team.
To install it - just put the zip on your SD card, reboot into bootloader, select Bootloader and it will ask you if you want to apply the update. Press volume UP to apply update, dont shut off the phone, and when its done - press Power to reboot.
DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME OF THE FILE
STUCK IN A BOOTLOOP AFTER RADIO UPDATE
If you are stuck in a bootloop after the radio update, all you need to do is the following:
Code:
1. - Open the back cover
2. - Remove the SD Card
3. - Pull the battery out for 5 secs and put it back in
4. - Put the cover back on
5. - Press Vol Down and Power at the same time. Keep holding on Vol Down till you get in bootloader
6. - Select Recovery
7. - Wipe Cache
8. - Put your SD Card back in
9. - Reboot phone and its all working again. Yey.
Here is another solution, thanks to joshndroid for the tip !
joshndroid said:
tony..
may i suggest in your guide thread to cm7 as a possible solution to the radio to flash AFTER you flash the ROM/UPDATE...
also;
maybe can i suggest to take the radio.img file out of the flash zip and flash it with fastboot...
1. Open zip file and place the radio.img into the location of your adb/fastboot (platform-tools or tools, depending how you set your fastboot up)
2. Place your phone into fastboot.. by connecting phone to computer and typing
adb reboot bootloader
OR
by turing your phone off and holding volume down + power on buttons
3. flash radio by typing these fastboot commands
fastboot flash radio radio.img
4. once that is finished restart phone by typing
fastboot reboot
i did both of these things and accrued no problems and as you know im not a TMOUS and it seems that every EU phone owner blames the ROM for being american in region, which we both know that is not a problem..
INSTALLING CUSTOM KERNEL
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE INSTALLING THE CM7/AOSP KERNEL, AND NOT THE SENSE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are having any issues with the current CM7 build - you can always flash a custom kernel. Head over to Faux123's Thread and download the newest kernel. Just to be on the safe side - download the regular newest kernel, don't go with the extreme edition (if this is your fist time flashing a kernel), as it might be unstable for your device.
How to do that, you will ask?
Code:
1. - Download the kernel
2. - Put the .zip on your SD card
3. - Boot into CWM Recovery
4. - Format Cache
5. - Flash the .zip file
6. - Go into Advanced
7. - Format Dalvik Cache
8. - Reboot your phone, and enjoy your new kernel
Big ups to Faux123 for all his great work, I have been following him since the MyTouch 4G, its always a pleasure to see what he has cooking for us!
FIXING SOUND VOLUME
To fix the sound volume - you need to do the following:
Code:
1. - Go to Settings
2. - Go to Cyanogen Mod Settings
3. - Go to Sound
4. - Scroll down and find "Always play on speaker"
5. - Check Notifications, Ringtones, Alarms
Now you have a full working Sound. People say that right after you connect your headphones - it removes these settings. So you might have to do them one more time. Just do it! There is no known permanent fix right now. Hopefully in one of the nightlies it will be addressed.
HOMESCREEN LAG
If your homescreen is lagging, like mine did - I suggest using a different launcher. I removed ADW and installed Launcher Pro. I havent had a single moment of lag after that.
Or you can head over to the second post, and download the 2D or 3D replacement Launcher, which will make things better. Big thanks to xboarder56 for sharing them with all of us!
BATTERY ISSUES
First - If you have problems with your battery draining too fast - maybe its because you installed another kernel. So try reverting back to stock kernel (Follow the "flashing CM7" guide, just dont wipe anything).
If issues are still there - Try to recalibrate your battery. You can do that by two different ways:
1st - Charge your battery to 100%, drain it all the way till it shuts off. Now dont turn the phone on, just plug it in, and leave it like that for 7-8hrs. Best done overnight. In the morning - turn on the phone, and repeat everything again. That should fix it.
2nd - Download "Battery Calibration" App from the market. Install, and follow the guides
BETTER CAMERA FIX
Alright, thanks to jjdeveau for this fix. If you do not like the camera that comes with CM7 - you can use the MIUI Camera.
Here is how to install it:
jjdeveau said:
Okay so.. For all of you who want a better camera. Here is the miui camera apk.
DO NOT JUST INSTALL IT!
#1 Open rom manager and Back up your Rom
#2 copy to system/app replacing the stock one.
#3 change the permissions but tapping and holding on the app and going to properties then hit change make sure the permissions looks the same as the other aps in the folder.
#4 open app let it install.
#5 I had to reboot phone then it showed up in my aps as miui camera.
The downside is the camera zoom still does not work and it does not support the front facing camera. tap to focus is working as well as the stock effects. it also has the panoramic view and is about as close to the sense camera as you can get right now.
Just download it from HERE and follow the instructions above, brought to you by jjdeveau. Thanks buddy!
Just in case any of you are having issues with SMS or MMS using Wifi-Calling.. give this a shot.
Create a new APN.
Name: T-Mobile
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication Type: leave blank
APN: default,supl,mms (Very important to not have a space in there.. just the ,)
hit the menu button and hit save. then use that apn. You should now have working MMS and SMS.
Hope that helps. Cheers.
FLASH PROBLEM WITH STOCK BROWSER
There are two workarounds to this issue:
1st one is - just download and install opera mobile from the market. It runs flash with no issues.
2nd one is coming to us, thanks to LSears:
For those of you having problems with Flash, it seems to be happening on a few devices with CM7.1. It can be fixed by altering the config.data file of the plugin within any app using it.
So, with the default browser as an example, you'd need to change directory (in ADB shell or a terminal emulator) to...
/data/data/com.android.browser/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player/
and then alter the permissions of the config.data with...
chmod 000 config.data
I've also done the same things within the BBC News app and BBC iPlayer. All now work perfectly! I hope that helps those with problems.
GPS LOCK FIX / WORKAROUND
For people that have GPS lock issues - I have a little fix/workaround that worked out great for me and my issues. I hope it works for all of yall.
You need to go to the market, and download GPS Test by Chartcross Ltd (its free).
Open the program -> hit the menu button -> select Settings -> hit "Clear AGPS" and after that hit "Update AGPS". Give it a few minutes and you should have a much better reception and lock on more sats. I got 6 sats locked from the inside of my house.
If it stops showing you the GPS icon - thats fine, just reboot the phone and it will all be ok.
It's bit obivious...
but I would add doing Backup before wiping/formating etc... just if something goes wrong.
Why not put this in the cm7 thread in the op just pm the dev
Cause in my experience - there is NEVER any guides provided by the CM7 team. In every phone sections that you look at - there is always a separate thread for guides and fixes.
Plus all the questions that are answered in this thread are asked over 15329852 times in the ROM thread, and its probably good to have them all in one place, instead of people having to read through hundreds (soon to be Thousands) of pages...
I would add a step for making a nandroid backup. Good writeup though.
Just a little anecdotal support-- when I rooted my first Android device (Nexus One, if it matters) I started off in a Guide thread in the Development section. Of course, I did finally end up at the CM Wiki, which I don't think it could hurt to link to eventually.
However, the extra bits at the end about flashing the latest GTalk and workarounds for common bugs in the Alpha version are things that I don't think would necessarily make it to their official Wiki. I think the scope of this thread is perfectly helpful
Very useful guide.
what is the recommended radio for cm7? I searched the cm7 thread and read the question asked several times but no clear cut answer. Might be helpful to add that info for people like me
Also, on reboot I lose network connectivity and have had to flash twice already...full wipe both times. I think it might be radio related.
[ROM] Androot-N7p-rom for Nextbook 7 Premium
Welcome to Androot-N7p-ROM for the NextBook 7 Premium *ONLY.
I decided to change up some of the apps and generalize the rom in terms of its boot-animation screen. It runs on LauncherPro (just choose it as the "always"/default upon first instance of it. The Launcher that comes with the device isn't so great, but I left it there just in case.
It's based on the first known rooted ROM for this device: 'DocHoppy's ROM'. Credit for most of this ROM goes to him and to 'Wendal' for his toolset for packing the ROM (into cramfs) for the Nextbook 7 Premium device.
As such, it is a beta/ work-in-progress.
Now, I don't know if my tablet is a never or older version of what you guys have...
Next7p
2.3.1
kernel: 2.6.32.27
build: v2.0.7.....
my serial is also different from alot..it starts with YF0511
any help or tips?
In Dochoppy's original rom/post he mentions that the device will need to have a serial number starting with YF1011. That stands the same for this rom, as it's derived from his.
Having an invalid update.img firmware file could be due to a number of things, but the one I have here works on my device.
I wish I had more of an answer, but by all means try out the tools for repacking the rom.
So after messing around compiling a ROM, I forgot to add a launcher, and now I am stuck in a bootloop. After the girl in the dress is there for awhile, I get a black screen, then reboot. Anyone now how to fix this? I have been searching Google, but can not find anything yet.
Any help would be great!
I had mine half dead for a short bit until i found i could go into a low level bootloader mode and recover it. I am working on getting a the tool/images i used to recover mine uploaded and such.
Download and extract n7p_rescue_kit.zip
Reboot device using paper clip then quickly press and hold reset until you get black screen with usb plugged in
When windows wants driver give it the respective folder for your os (32bit or 64bit) from Drivers folder from the download
Run RK29update.exe if it says "Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb" on bottom you are good but if it shows "No Found RKAndroid rock usb" repeat last step.
Either flash all of the default selected items or do just system (since bootloop is in system)
Hope this helps
P.S. If you pack then unpack your custom one you can flash JUST system using the tool but be sure to use the offsets that are pre-loaded.
use a pin to push the reset button on the back to break out of the boot loop.
If after this your rom still bootloops, try putting a different update.img rom to flash, on to the sd card. Then boot into safe mode by holding all 4 front buttons after boot. the update should be found and installed after that.
Thanks!
I registered just to thank DocHoppy for all his efforts. I have a Nextbook Premium 7 I got for Christmas from Hastings, which fell into the YF09111XXXX batch. I used Wendal Chen's RK29xxImageTools_v2.1 to unpack the firmware upgrade from the nextbookusa site. I then put the Google apks, SuperUser, Rootexplorer, and re-packed it with a custom bootanimation. Because of my serial # I couldn't use DocHoppy rom without getting that "Invalid Update" error, but using their firmware seems to work.
My next goal is to find a way to get the "Accounts & Sync" into the settings! One of my apps is getting an "Error 42" which is an Android Market authentication error... however, other apps have worked without any problems so it's difficult to tell if that's the issue I'm having.
Also did you use this guide for market? That one worked great for me.
Thanks
Not sure if this rom will work for you, just guessing by your serial number. If it is to work changing between roms on these tablets is very easy. Just download the image onto the root of your sdcard, rename it update.zip (not update.zip.zip) your tablet will recognize it as an update and ask if you want to proceed. If you say yes then follow the prompts and your in business!
Just go this to day and was plesantly suprised to find this rooted rom. Just wanted toy let you know that my S/N is YF12112xxxx and this rom work prefect for me (so far) Thanks for all the work you guys have done here. Also is there anyway to over clock the processor in out tabs?
Thanks for the comments thus far!
I would like to overclock this thing too, but that might be further down the road, as priority is on getting a different file-system for the /system volume.
Version 0.4 is coming next.
FYI:
There will be a larger span of time between updates on this particular rom for the N7p, because I will be using more stable conjumbles of things from other roms for this device. This rom is more of a remix or derivative than an entirely different rom.
Again thanks for all the hard work. I have a few requests. first since we cant change the Adhoc ( using wifi from another android device) on the fly with out RW access can you please add the ability to connect to adhoc wifi in the next build? Also i love google currents app but we cant use is on our device because we don't have map's installed. can that be added as well?
Most of the N7P roms out there now have Market installed and working. Why not just install these apps yourself?
I only suggest so because for the time being, the device is limited to its minimal capacity for apps without full-on apps2SD. Besides, for a tablet like this, you want to keep the system apps to a minimum and de-bloated for performance whenever possible.
Oh I was talking about currents and maps. Both of those can be installed via market. I have them both on my tablet.
The ad-hoc networking is something worth putting in a later release though.
Cyanogenmod Nightly Changelog (HDMI?)
The changelog for our phone (P920) can be found here:
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p920
Strange thing though;
In the second release, or first if we count the numbers, there is:
OMAP4: Adding HDMI Support in the framework (android_frameworks_base)
Clicking on the link above views the changes, but I can't get the HDMI out to work.
I heard that for other phones, including the 02X, we need a Full HD TV and not a 720p (HD Ready).
I only have a HD Ready TV and a Full HD computer screen but it doesn't work on the computer screen.
Can anyone with the latest nightly (currently 3) try HDMI out on a Full HD TV?
I doubt that it'll work, but still worth trying.
Latest Cyanogenmod Nightly:
Changelog Cyanogemod Nightly:
EDIT:
Good news! I got the audio to work through HDMI, but the Computer screen is just showing a black screen BUT it doesn't say "No input" which is good. I get "[email protected]".
That's actually the way I get the audio to work. If I just play music nothing happens but if I start a video after a few tries, then I get the audio to work through HDMI but with a black screen, this also worked on my 720p TV, after this procedure, I can play music aswell but as soon as the phone screen shuts down I have to do everything again.
I would guess that they are currently working on these features and trying to get our phone up to date with the others since they are only working on our phone and a few others, can be verified by looking at the recent files at http://get.cm/ and all the OMAP4 fixes in the changelog.
There is no radio.Does anyone know if there will be a future release?
someone should post ''how to install cm7 nightly on o3d'' bacause first time I tried it,it froze on cm screen and had to return to v21a until a stable version is released
I backed up everything, External SD, internal SD and all my apps.
1) boot into clockwork by holding volume down and power.
2) install CM7
3) install Gapps if you want the Google stuff.
4) Format DATA and reset to factory
reboot and you are set to go
That's pretty much how it's done.
If you want to install a new release then just make a backup (and delete the old one) and install the new release through CWM. All system files are replaced with the new release and you will keep your old apps/settings.
I found out that the second display is located here:
/sys/devices/omapdss/display1/
When I plug in the HDMI the value enabled sets to 1.
But the value hdmi_out is still 0, same with the value mirror at display0.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens in the next releases.
It would be nice if display0 could be disabled when using HDMI at certain points, when watching movies or using emulators. And by pressing power button the mirroring/cloning starts again.
[Q] Galaxy Tab 7.7 with Paranoid Android 2.55
I just wanted to say that I was really impressed by trying the Paranoid Android 2.55 ROM pa_p6800-2.55-17NOV2012-053308a, with Gapps package gapps-jb-20121011-signed.
IT IS A TOTAL AWESOME UPGRADE from official Stock Rom Ice Scream Sandwhich second phase. That's why I decided to make it easier for all the other owners of this tablet to just upgrade their tablet with this ROM pacakge.
So here is what I did with TWRP recovery:
1. Wipe Cache
2. Wipe Dalvik Cache
3. Wipe (Factory Reset)
4. Then I made a FULL BACKUP.
5. Then I decided to upload that backup on Torrents so everyone else may upgrade their tablet with a simple TWRP recovery.
Since I am still not permitted to write on the Development forum I would really like to know the following:
1. Should this Backup Recovery for my P6800 work on the same model of the Tablet of other people without problems? In other words, does this recovery work only for MY device or it should work on similar devices?
2. I am not sure who is the author who deserves true credit for this ROM, but I have been seeing the name Daniel quite a bit. AndroguideFr is saying it's not his work. Please provide me the list of people who should take the credit for this before I upload the torrent with the instructions.
Finally tell me if it's a good idea, what you think about it, do you have any advice for me? Do you think this should work?
Instructions & Torrent
The torrent link: Since I still can't post links you can just search for "Super Galaxy Tab 7.lly Bean Upgrade" on the pirate bay website.
The following is the instructions I provided with the torrent. I would be glad if you tell me what you think about it:
This torrent is ONLY for those who own the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 with Wifi & 3G (GT-P6800). Be warned that the instructions provided here will not work on any other device or model.
Noob Definitions:
ROM means FIRMWARE or DEVICE SOFTWARE
BRICK means Phone/Tablet Getting Stuck without being able to boot.
So are you happy with your Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet Stock ROM (firmware)? In other words, are you happy with the original software the device came by? If you are not, there is good news here. I have tried my best to make it as easy as possible to upgrade your Tablet with the best ROM I have come across for this tablet, which is Paranoid Android version 2.55 with Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
Why I am recommending this ROM and why I am doing this? Simple, I have tried all previous versions of Paranoid Android ROM for this device and they were all great but with minor to major bugs. This is the only ROM that I have found to be:
1. Super Fast. It consumes only an average of 120 megabytes of your internal tablet memory and all Samsung bloatware is removed by default.
2. Stable. I haven't come across any problems with it up till now and the smoothness of the graphics and device responsivity is really amazing.
3. Battery Saver. All Paranoid Android Jelly Bean ROMs I have tried save a great deal of battery power. You will notice at least double battery standby time switching from the stock IceCream Sandwich.
4. Of course WiFi & GPS are now tested and working.
I have not tested this ROM for more than a few days, however considering all the progress I have been seeing I expect only very few bugs that I would wholeheartedly sacrifice for this great experience on my tablet. The instructions include a full backup of your existing Data/ROM so just in case you don't like your new upgrade you should be easily able to recover your previous ROM/Data as they were before.
Introduction:
- I have made the hard work so you don't have to do it yourself to upgrade your tablet. I followed all the online instructions to install the following ROM file "pa_p6800-2.55-17NOV2012-053308a" with this Google Apps package "gapps-jb-20121011-signed" on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, and then I had reset my device (factory reset) and took a FULL BACKUP with a recovery software called TWRP.
- This torrent is the FULL BACKUP recovery made by TWRP and once you install (flash) the TWRP recovery software on your device you will be able to take this BACKUP and recover it on your own device without problems. So here are the detailed instructions:
BE WARNED:
1. Before beginning make sure to charge your device battery to above 80% !! Losing power during recovery may BRICK your tablet.
2. I repeat: This torrent is ONLY for those who own the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 with Wifi & 3G (GT-P6800). The instructions provided here will not work on any other device or model.
3. The instructions provided here are accurate to the best of my ability and I will help you upgrade your tablet by replying to your comments if you had any problems BUT STILL you will do this at your own risk and I'm not responsible for any data you may lose or tablet you may brick.
4. Please read the instructions in the given order and do exactly as mentioned to avoid any problems. Should any questions arise just raise your hand and ask before continuing. It's better to be safe than sorry.
5. Your Tablet must be ROOTED for being able to install TWRP recovery given the following instructions if it's not rooted try following this link before continuing further: (link provided)
In case this link doesn't work you will find many tutorials online on how to ROOT your Galaxy Tab 7.7 just Google it and good luck, then come back here.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Objective: Preparing Extracted Data
After completing torrent download extract the file "SamsungGT_7.7_Custom_ROM.rar" with WinRar on your PC on your prefered location and leave it there until required.
2. Objective: Installing TWRP Recovery on Tablet
Open Google Play market on your Galaxy Tab search, download and install the GooManager application. Open it, and look for "Flash ROMS", a message will pop-up telling you "IN ORDER TO USE THIS FEATURE YOU MUST HAVE AN OPENRECOVERYSCRIPT COMPATIBLE RECOVERY", just choose "Try to find one for me". This should download the TWRP recovery software and automatically flash your device you will see a pop-up message saying "TWRP recovery is installed successfully". If your device is not ROOTED the GooManager application will not have the privilage to FLASH your ROM. If your tablet is not rooted just quit this tutorial, search for online Tutorials on how to root your Tablet on Google and come back again.
3. Objective: Transfer Recovery Backup onto Tablet
OK, now you have to copy the TWRP folder you just downloaded through this torrent onto the EXTERNAL SDCard of your Samsung Galaxy Tab. To do that, just connect your device to the computer with its USB cable and in a minute or 2 you should be able to see your Device "GT-P6800" under Portable Devices (if you are Windows 7) or perhaps "Removeable Device" (if you are on Windows XP). Just make sure that you copy the extracted TWRP folder on your external storage (SD Card) on your Galaxy Tab. If you did not see your external drives on My Computer you might need to install Samsung Kies Drivers so your tablet is recognized on Windows.
4. Objective: Boot Into Recovery Mode
Now you have the TWRP recovery software flashed on your device and the recovery Backup itself on the external storage. The next step is to Power Off your Galaxy Tab completely, then Press the Power Button and hold on together with the Volume UP (+) button. Once you see the Samsung Galaxy Tab logo remove your finger from the Power button and you should see TEAMWIN with blue background and you will be in Recovery Mode.
5. Objective: Full Backup of Existing Data
Once you are in the TWRP recovery screen just touch on the "Backup" button to make a full backup of your current ROM & Data so in case anything went wrong you can recover all your data later with no problems. Make sure that "System", "Data", "Boot", "Recovery" & "Cache" checkboxes are checked and then choose the radio button "Using Internal Storage" or "External Storage" depending where you have more space (external storage is recommended). Then Swipe the arrow on the left to the right to Backup your device.
6. Objective: Full Recovery of New ROM Package
After successful backup, touch on the home button at the top of the screen and touch "Restore" button so you can now install the New ROM recovery you downloaded on your external storage. You will see 2 radio buttons one is "Using external SD" and the other "Using internal Storage". Since you put your recovery on external storage just leave the radio button checked on "Using external SD" and you should see the "FRESHBACKUP" recovery folder, touch on it. In the next screen make sure that the "System", "Data", "Boot", & "Cache" checkboxes ARE CHECKED. Considering you have made all the steps exactly as mentioned so far Swipe the left arrow from LEFT TO RIGHT to recover your tablet into the new ROM. Wait until all the recovery steps are finished indicating that all is successful. You will find a button to "Reboot System" or similar.
7. Objective: Be Patient, It's Happening
Once you reboot you will notice IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME AT FIRST don't panic, just leave it finish what it is doing for as long as 10 minutes. You will find the "Android is Upgrading" pop-up optimizing your applications, that is totally normal. Then finish all the step-by-step instructions given on the screen in regards to your Google Account and Good Job You are now enjoying Paranoid Android 2.55 with Jelly Bean 4.1.2. You can customize it as you wish from the settings.
Troubleshooting:
In case you had any problems in Steps 6 & 7 or you didn't like the new recovered ROM just go to Step 4 (boot into recovery mode) and recover your original data you backed up in Step 5.
Application Tips: The following are my favorite must have applications:
1. SwiftKey Keyboard is a great keyboard that reduces typing errors through predictions and learns a great deal about your your own choice of words.
2. Pattrn is a very good application for simple backgrounds.
3. Flipboard & News360 great tablet apps for enjoying news in an intuitive interface.
4. Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, & YouTube app.
5. ES File Explorer & File Manager.
6. Kobo Ebooks.
7. Firefox & Dolphin Browsers.
8. Evernote (Great Cloud based Notes - Never lose your important notes).
9. Bluetooth File Transfer.
10. Juicy Defender (Battery Saving App).
11. Market Access App (you will not find this on Google Play Market. Google it and once installed you can download apps from market not restricted by Country).
12. TapaTalk (Great forum-ing experience for Android).
13. Yahoo Weather (the most simple widget for Weather Info)
14. WordWeb dictionary (great free dictionary).
15. MX Player & ArmV7 process codec package (very good media player).
16. Dr. Web Light antivirus (The lightest antivirus for android with very high detection rates).
17. WiFi Analyzer (great for deciding on which Channel to put your WiFi router so you have the highest reception).
18. CamCard (Scans your business cards and automatically fills-in to your contact list).
19. Adobe Flash Player (It is no longer available in Google Play but you can find it in online tutorials on Google, it's a must for some websites to work).
If you have any inquiries just comment on the torrent and I will respond, otherwise send an email on [email protected] Torrent commenting is more recommended though!
Only problem with Paranoid is that it is based on CM and there are many know issues. My biggest issue is the video codecs. The devs will not fix this and any videos I have that play in ICS will not play in any ROM based on CM. Would love to have a Jelly Bean ROM but with some many know issues I am happy with ICS until an official update comes out, if it ever does.
I suggest that you guys give a try to this Rom because the performance versus feature boost makes the ICS stock Rom look like an ancient slow tablet. The delay of opening the Phone app is highly reduced and I rarely ever lag on keyboard.
Sorry what is OTG? Ok I checked on Amazon and I guess I have never used this device. But the usb connection to the computer is working as expected normally.
Secondly, why do you have to take a risk in flashing a ROM? Take a full backup recovery of your existing configuration, should anything go wrong you can revert back so easily without losing anything. Let me know if you need any help.
that's what i did yesterday, not sure about all this mumbo jumbo extra steps this guy is posting.
downloaded 2.55 - was coming from stock so went into CWM, flashed PA 2.55, rebooted into recovery, then wiped cache, dalvik and did factory reset, then rebooted into recovery and flashed PA 2.55 again.
booted up, rebooted into recovery and flashed gapps.
easy peasy.
I didn't try changing that the default is fine for me. I guess you can find better help in the development forum on this issue.
"I haven't faced any problems with the following apps:
All the movies I have are either straight digital copies or dvd rips, they have not been converted into anything. They play fine in ICS but on any CM based ROM they don't, no matter what video player I used. Again it all has to do with the the missing codecs of ICS. I don't want to waste my time converting all my movies just because the ROM does not support them.
booted up, rebooted into recovery and flashed gapps.
easy peasy.
iamarto, bellow is my reply to your post.:
"I haven't faced any problems with the following apps:
MX Player
MX PLAYER ARMv7 codecs
Everything works with me with those. Just tell me what are you trying to play maybe I never tried your formats."
All the movies I have are either straight digital copies or dvd rips, they have not been converted into anything. They play fine in ICS but on any CM based ROM they don't, no matter what video player I used. Again it all has to do with the the missing codecs of ICS. I don't want to waste my time converting all my movies just because the ROM does not support them.
If you don't provide the extension of the files, or the codecs of the type of files that you are trying to play I believe I cannot help you. But I am still telling you that I haven't faced any problems trying to play any kind of video file up till now.
Flash and dialer problem
Hi pemergenc,
first of alll thanks for your effort - please pm me your paypal contact for donation as your ebay auction is closed.
Now for the problems ^^
The flash plugin is not active in the browser - though I can see all parts in the system area and the data/cache/dalvik is all clean.
Can you confirm this?
Is removing libflashplayer.so and the apk from /system and installing the stock flash apk from my lenovo fw backup to sd an option or would this break google play support?
Another thing I'm struggling with is the dialer. I get 'Unfortunately, contacts has stopped‎' after some time - should be related to my gmail sync. [update] looks more like g+ is messing things up[/update]
After that only a wipe makes it usable again - clearing contacts db doesnt help :/ Dont know if some german umlauts are the cause. Any advice?
One quick question:
Do you get the click sounds and vibrate when pressing keys on the virtual keyboard? Both sounds and vibrate are activated for me in the settings, but for some reason these do not apply when using the keyboard input. Thanks!
Thanks for the reply. The options under the "Active Profile" were checked. I had to change the settings from "Android keyboard settings" and everything is working ok now.
Under "Advanced Settings" you have two options for "Keypress duration vibration settings" and "Keypress sound volume settings" increasing the values for those got the click sound and vibration back.
Help me installing the new rom!
Hi pemergency,
few days ago I purchased the tablet lenovo a2107a-h in Italy. Unfortunately, the European version does not have the voice dialing. is the free time I have to do with Android and then I'm not very experienced. I would like to install the new rom, but I have some questions:
is the Italian language?
the phone function works well?
there is a step by step guide for installing the rom?
I am willing to give you a refund for your work!
Thanks in advance!
lenovo
Hi, i have a lenovo smart tab 2 --Android version 4.0.4, --A2107A_A404, kernel 3.0.13.Can i flash this custom rom in it?
Can anyone help me to root the tablet?
I am a begginer ,it's my first tablet and ofcourse android experience, and i need telephone calls and many other things.The tablet has only one sim card.
Hi, pemergency!
First - thanks for your brilliant work
I have some questions about your final ROM for this device:
1. Does it have polish language in multilanguage list?
2. Is it compatible with tablet containing 4GB internal SD memory and dual SIM slot?
3. Can I "flash" my device using CWM 6.0.1.5? Will it be (CWM) replaced with one that your ROM contains?
4. I have a A2107A-H_S341_120921 firmware, Android ver. 4.0.3. (rooted). Do I have to do a firmware upgrade before flashing ROM of yours (currently i have an option to upgrade to A2107A-H_S345_121111)?
5. How do I restore IMEI to both SIM cards when flashed with it?
6. If anything goes wrong and I do backup of my current system compilation (A2107A-H_S341-120921), then will I be able to return to it when anything else fails?
I assume that it has full dialing option along with FM radio functions.
Sorry if my english is bad And again, thanks in advance for great, outstanding job :good:
edit: I also want to know which version of CWM have you used or recommend to flash?
how to install
