Use this Method On your Rooted Atrix 2 to get the built in wifi Hot spot Feature working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160452
line 148 it should say entitlement check On the Atrix 2
others have reported changing the entitlement_check line to 0 instead of " disabled " to get it working
For some reason, I could not get the internet connection? I will keep trying.
Works flawlessly.

Yes, I did many time. I also used wireless tether and still have a same problem. The client could not get an IP assigned from A2. Same with USB tether.
what are you trying to connect is it a win 7 machine ?

Hmm, same result here. What security did you have enabled? I had WPA2 or whatever the option was. I tried changing it to open, but it got stuck trying to disable. Playing with it now, will report back.
EDIT: Hmm, no joy. It connects but it won't give an IP address to a client. I tried, the builtin mobile hotspot, and Android Wireless Tether from the market with no luck. I did manage to get it to assign an IP to my macbook using Bluetooth PAN, but it wouldn't allow any browsing. Ipad won't get an IP either. There has to be a fix for it, but it's dinner time! I'll play with it more later.
i never used security i changed mine to open
i just connected my wifes htc status to my hotspot and it worked great
Just a heads up, PDA net will throw a flag up to AT&T and they can detect that you are tethering. Just a FYI in case u aren't paying for the tethering plan and if you're on a unlimited plan they have been threatening about taking your unlimited plan away and putting you automatically on a tethering plan.
They were doing this to a lot if the OG owners and I got my text and letter from them also while I was doing it on my OG
I have never used pda net or any other app to tether since froyo came out with it built in and i have never once been served by att for tethering i also dont go bananas when tethering either but i have unlimited data and i have been tethering over 2 years now and nothing so much as a peep from att
awesome! Working nicely for me! Thanks for making this phone kick more ass everyday.
Well when I got the text I quickly replied with a phone call. After 30 mins of arguing with them I just give up. I regularly use between 5-7 gb a month n don't want to take the risk of them dropping me to 4gb tethering plan and paying for every gb i go over 4.

Well, I search around and found 1 thread that mentioned about the conflict of dhcp and other apps. The conflict app that was mentioned is not in my list so I started to uninstall all apps that use wifi, reboot and it fixed my problem. Now I am in the process of reinstall the apps back starting from the safe one first (most popular)

I am going to retract my statement, mine does not work. My IPad just sits there and tries to connect to it. Mobile AP can connect the Ipad to my Atrix 2 but it does not direct it out to the internet.
HMM well i know in the system\apps there is a apk called entitlement.apk i have deleted it in mine ONLY AFTER MAKING A BACKUP OF IT and then the mobile ap would not even turn on it did nothing when i tried to activate it so i have restored it i am gonna try some more things tonight and see

You may want to look at my post above to @bimmer. There may be some conflict between your apps and the tether DHCP. I have the same problem of getting the IP (it should start with 192.168.). You should check to see which IP that you iPad gets. If it starts with 169 then DHCP is not working.
For some apparantly random reason, my AT&T mobile I.P. has been blocked by Google. I am a very light user, and haven't done any unusual searching in recent days, but just the other day I started to get this error;
"We're sorry...but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now." WTF?
Most of the time, it ends there, but every now and then it at least allows me to enter a captcha to temporarily use their services. I've sent my additional information through Google's automated webform but have not heard back from them yet.
I've wiped my OS, reformatted back to factory settings, I've tried multiple browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Dolphin) to no avail. I spent 3 hours talking to at&t customer tech 'support'. They had no clue and basically told me to get a new phone.
I'm at my wits end here. If anyone can help It would be greatly appreciated.
HTC One X w/ CM10 also tried Paranoid android and AOKP.
use tor!...
or wait for google to respond...
:silly::silly::silly:
StartPage. Com I think, uses Google but doesn't log ip addresses.
edit:
Or use the orbot app which will mask your ip from all websites. It also encrypts and compresses all data from your isp(ATT&T).
Edit2: Not sure if it compresses but I remember an app doing that, not sure which one

Same thing happened to me, and it was after rooting and installing Calkulin's ROM. I have no idea how to fix it or know what is causing it
this happened to me using boat browser, eventually google asked for to do a capcha thingy and its been working fine since
Same thing here. I was also on Calkulin's Rom. I noticed it happened to me only when I'm on LTE and only when using Google Now. All is well now.

This is still going on, and I'm about to give up on Google all together. What good is a Google phone if I can't use Google? There is absolutely no way to contact them and ask what the deal is. I've tried everything I could think of. Searching around the internet, the only solution I see is to run a memory/bandwidth wasting proxy service like Orbot (which didn't work for me btw), or Hotspot Shield (which seems to work but slows my internet connection down considerably.)
I still am not sure if this is AT&T's problem or Google's. I don't have a static I.P. which lead me to believe the problem was with my google account. However, logging into a different account gave the same result.
Google support is a joke. They have no support whatsoever for Android, and the only 'solution' they give is download and run HijackThis. WTF?
Seriously frustrated.

Aren't ATT'S ip addresses for mobile phones dynamic?
Maybe something in the Rom is wrong and sending erroneous, malicious, or constant traffic to google and they are blocking you because of it.
What happens on a different Rom? Try CR5 and see if you have the same problems.
Try a stock Rom too.
If you only have the issue with a particular Rom(clean wipe with no apps installed) then someone needs to look at it closely for either bad code, or something malicious.
Maybe you have a bad app?
Do you tether? Infected laptop being used as a bot against Google's DNS?
Sounds like whatever the cause, it is persistent. Intrusion protection systems will remove the block automatically after the event has ceased for a certain period of time.

Happening to me too. Doesnt even show the captcha anymore, just cant use the web. This is on LTE only. If i toggle LTE off, it works fine. Using Viper Rom.
Here is your super fast LTE... but you cant use it! Only thing its good for is speed test. This is very annoying. And we shouldn't have to use any xtra software to spoof our IP to browse. Totally uncalled for.
Just wish i knew the cause... could it be a custom rom thing? anybody ever seen this on a stock rom?
if this persists, and it does it on a stock rom too, i'm off to ATT to complain. With all the network issues etc that they exchanged this phone for in the beginning, i might be able to get a one X+ for exchange. They told me after the last exchange i could change phones if i had anymore problems... I am in a new LTE marjet too if that matters. We just got LTE a month ago..
OP are you in a new LTE market?

What's your location when this is happening? Can the op verify that his issue is only happening on LTE also? What about when you are on WiFi(different ip address)?
It is possible to spoof originating ip, maybe attacks/spam against Google are being spoofed and they happen to lie within ATT's ip blocks and you have nothing to do with it.

Although IPs are assigned dynamically, it's not unheard of for an IP address to stick with an associated MAC address for an extended amount of time (even after multiple lease expirations/renewals). Try this in an Android Terminal:
Code:
$ su
# netcfg
You'll see all of your network adapters listed, and the one with an IP address is your mobile data IP. Make note of this IP, as well as what the name of the network adapter is (on my Vivid, it's rmnet_sdio1 - which is what I'll be using from here. Anywhere you see this, replace it with the name of your adapter).
Code:
# ifconfig rmnet_sdio1 down
This takes the adapter down (basically like an ipconfig /release)
Code:
# ifconfig rmnet_sdio1 up
This brings the adapter back online.
Now reboot.
Open a terminal again
Code:
# ifconfig rmnet_sdio1
Did you get a new IP address? Try Google again. If you still are told Google's blocking your IP, and it's happening on stock too, ATT has some issues they need to take up with Google...

I tried what homeslice976 wrote, step by step. I was given a new I.P. address, I rebooted and the problem did not go away. I also tried with LTE toggled off. Still blocked. When I'm at home on my WiFi, there is no problem. This is definitely an AT&T issue.
If this doesn't resolve itself soon I'm gonna tell AT&T to go **** themselves, buy a nexus 4 and give T-Mobile a try.

Hey guys,
I am trying to learn how to use bcmon and Reaver for Android. I wanted to know if you guys have got any tutorials about them, cause thats hard to understand.
For the ones that dont know: These apps are supposed to show some Wifis passwords, but I can't tell they work, i havent tried yet!
Guys, hacking is illegal, so, dont test this app without the authorization of the Wifi owner
Dont kniw if they use bruteforce and those things bla bla
Any help is appreciated, and other apps too.

Its not about how to use bcmon but make sure you have a supported device.
Its about the tools included.
Such as besside-ng , aircrack-ng , crunch , airodump-ng , wash , reaver etc.
You have to look up how to use those tools first.
But for now you can use besside-ng (IN A CONTROLLED LAB!)
This tool cracks all wep networks in your range and will grab the wpa handshake for all wpa and wpa2 networks.
This stuff is stored in /data/data/com.bcmon*/results
If you want to crack wpa or wpa2 you must use awordlist and use aircrack-ng.
Example: you capture a wpa hanshake for your att network that has a default password.
use a usb hdd to generate a list of all numbers 10 digits(90 gigabytes)
use aircrack-ng pointed at the wpa cap and the wordlist on your usb hdd and give it probably a month to two months and you will have your password for the network.
Now say you want to use a reaver it utilizes the wps feature on routers to gain access to the key by attacking the pin for the wps feature on the router. Like guessing the right key to use for the lock) this attack can be done very fast given that your router doesnt have wps patched.
You can use wash to determine if wps is vulnerable and the version of wps.
Its all determined by what vulnerabilities are present and how much time you have and having knowledge of the tools at hand.
So go research.
Thanks a lot,I'm going to test them soob

Using bcmon you need to have monitor mode. Not all broadcom chip sets support that. Bcmon has firmware updates for CM. That's the only firmware I have seen it on. They are working on supporting different devices. But monitor mode and packet injection is what you need to successfully "hack" WiFi. If you are wanting to get into pentesting there is more than cracking WiFi. The real fun starts once your in. I suggest you run those tools on your computer to get the hang of them. Good distros to try are Back Track 5 and Kali Linux. I'm trying to use bcmon myself but they don't support Samsung GS3 yet.

Thanks for the replies guys. I can confirm the work around works if you have an Amazon.com account but I haven't been able to use the work around on the .co.uk side of things...... I know many tablet manufacturers provide emulators to allow software to be developed.
It would be great to understand what process of identification that allows the KindleFire to play the content.
Yeah I've never seen an android emulator that runs within android. Not sure how to get around your issue... The good news is amazon will eventually release instant video for android... Just a matter of when..
Must have root!
With a root capable file browser locate systen/etc/apns-conf.xml and open it.
Search for T-Mobile US LTE
Add dun to the APN type field and save.
Go to network settings/APN settings and restore network default.
Give it s second to reset and done.
Tested with the stock hotspot app
So does this enable full speed 4G lte tethering speeds instead of being limited to 3G on their One plans? Seems like this hack would work on any t-mobile connected device, no?

Your welcome!
LOL it WAS working for me. I havnt used my hotspot in awhile to notice any changes.
It's been a looong time since I saw the thread somewhere on Reddit but someone had a guide. Basically, you have to modify something in the system that changes how many "hops?" there are. Like I guess if your phone connects, it's identified at 1 hop. Traffic on the network via tethering hops again, so it's 2. That 2 says you're tethering. I think you change the start to 0 so tethering ends up being 1.
It was something along those lines. I know it's so vague that this doesn't help. But hopefully it means something to someone.

I think you are referring to the TTL. Changing the TTL value to 64 (or 65? I forgot) on the device being tethered to, along with adding "dun" to your apn, would give you unlimited tethering on the Select Choice plan. Once I switched to T-mobile One plan this stopped working.
Anyone found any solution to this?
I can tell you what doesn't work for T-Mobile One plan: Changing the TTL no longer works. Modifying the APN can't be done anymore. Setting tether_dun_required to 0 doesn't work either. Anyone else got anything?
pdanet with wifi direct works

Thanks for the helpful suggestion. The hotspot is already on the plan, and even if it wasn't, there's an easy fix for that. And that wasn't even what I was asking. Because that's not even what this thread is about. I'm pretty sure the topic of this thread is to find a way to bypass the hotspot throttle with T-mobile. I guessed that because this thread is called "T-Mobile hotspot no throttle trick.(currently not working)". See the italicized words? Yeah, that should be a clue. Anyway, thanks for your snarky, useless, and totally off-topic reply. You are the reason the world is awful.

Wow asshat...
I'm sorry you're not getting your way... Please take my sincere apology...
By the way... Have you tried changing your browsing agent... That sometimes works when everything reads as Android ..
And if it doesn't... I don't care... So don't reply me
Been messing around with it with no success but I recently flashed msm xtended Rom and I was testing out Hotspot and seems to be un throttled for some reason. I'm on the tmobile one plan.

All steps followed exactly. I got nothing. Any ideas or anyone else with similar issues?

I used this: "Tethering,fast.t-mobile.com,,,,,,,,,310,260,,dun"
NOT this: "Tethering data,fast.t-mobile.com,,,,,,,,,310,260,,dun"
For whatever reason, when you use the latter, it only shows up as "Tethering" and omits everything from the space onward.

It's just a modification of the APN setting instructions that you can find in a couple threads here.
I have tested different setups using speedtest.net to determine the fastest speeds.
My phone is setup with the the DUN APN as per this link:
Code:
settings put global tether_dun_apn "Tethering data,fast.t-mobile.com,,,,,,,,,310,260,,dun"
settings put global tether_dun_apn "Tethering,fast.t-mobile.com,,,,,,,,,310,260,,dun"
The vpn I am using is AirVPN with the openvpn app
Attached is a screenshot of my phone signal during the tests.
Here are my results with the speeds in Mbps (down/up):
phone 99/30
phone w/ vpn 92/31
-----------------------------------------------------------
hotspot w/ vpn 49/21
hotspot 0.6/28
-----------------------------------------------------------
hotspot w/ ttl master (set to 65) 0.6/27
hotspot w/ ttl master (set to 65) & vpn 50/18
-----------------------------------------------------------
pdanet hotspot 4/3
pdanet hotspot w/ vpn 21/2
Looks like I will be using my VPN and the default hotspot for the fastest speeds from here on out. If anyone else has different speeds and setups, please reply.
