[Q] Odd sounds while in a call.

While the phone is dialing out or while in a conversation, it makes sounds like someone is breathing. I know it sounds weird but sometimes it sounds like a toilet flushing. I dont know if someone hacked my phone or if its a hardware/software thing. Just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them. Also im running octane 3.0 and this did not occur when i was on stock unrooted. Thanks in advance!

I had that problem with my last Galaxy s 4G and my new one. I don't recall having the problem when I was on Froyo. I had the problem just this morning when placing a call. It lasts for a second or so then goes away. I've no idea why it happens, though.

Anybody know how to fix it?

If you are on GB just flash Dr. Honks kernel and you'll have CWM and root or superoneclick 2.2 has worked for me just to root just takes aa while like 5+ mins

I'm tempted to flash another modem, like KI3, to see if it still occurs. I don't remember having the issue until I was on KJ6 but I might be mistaken.

honestly I'm on stock kj6 with KD1 modem and I haven't had that problem

Thanks I'll try that this weekend... It hasn't happened today so it may have resolved itself. What modems are compatable with the kj6 kernel?

Well I believe any modem is compatible but people have had a lot of success with KI3 modem ...I personally prefer KD1 it gives me good service in my area but I think it changes

Pretty much any of them. People generally use a different modem to get better data speeds in their respective location.

It could be your sim card. If the sim card has connectivity issues, this sound is known to happen. Switch out your Sim with someone else and use the phone. if the sound happens on the phone with someone else's Sim, then it is your sd card. remove the sd card and format it on your computer. Then, with the sd card still removed, do a factory reset and make a few calls with your actual sim in the phone; without adding your google account. See if it persists. place the sd card back in the phone and add your account, buy don't add apps until you've tested it out. After a day (my recommendation), add one app at a time. make some test calls because you could dl an app with a virus, which can be causing connectivity issues.
Good idea with swapping the modem. I haven't tried that one. Thanks for the suggestion.

Interesting ideas about the SIM & SD card. I'd be curious to know if/why either of those would cause that weirdness.
I'm going to try the KI3 modem a bit later. I'll report back after some testing.

Modems cant be flashed with cwm can they? if so ill do it today too... I dont have a computer atm so no odin.

Indeed they can. I flashed KI3 via CWM earlier. Check out FBis251's [Odin/CWM] Modems (10/29/2011 added KJ6 modem) page. There's a link to his CWM-flashable modems.

Stephen, yes, i confirmed with one of my friends in google. Weird, isn't it?! I tried formatting without my sd card in and the problem stopped. Idk, lol.

Completely weird. Thanks for the info, though. Who would've thought?

I always have that problem. I was thinking of starting a thread too. It's like a "WOOSH" right before the phone starts dialing.

I get the same sound periodically...would be nice to know what it is for sure.

Question about baseband upgrading

I use to be on V20C and decided to switch over to V21E to see if it will help with ghost call issues. I got everything working. But I noticed my reception is on Edge now. Is there anyway to fix that or is that normal cause I switched basebands? I use to be with Rogers on V20C in Canada

i need some advices on that problem too phone works but no data network (4G in my case its always "E")

Not possible, V21e does not support the required bands. Try v21f.

ROM for V21A baseband?

I need good ROM for V21A baseband with 3D options. I was searching for a long time and can't find a thing. Anyone?

I am using xperia 3d rom. it's quite ok.

Which one? There is 1 thing which pisses me off. Always then my screen is off it disables wifi and connects my mobile data. I have only 500mb/mnth and because of that yesterday I got 15 pounds bigger bill then usual

2.7.1 that version runs over 2.1 A
But you'll have ghost calls for sure, but try the 2.8 with 21p baseband if you're in America if not You use 2.1e baseband and it's In think the best Rom so far.

Thanks for info. I my phone doesn't go to download mode so I can't rewrite different baseband. Or maybe it should be blank screen? Before I had o2x and it showed download mode.

Just go to the WiFi advanced settings and deselect the option for the WiFi to turn off when the screen goes off. You can choose WiFi sleep policy to "never" instead, which doesn't consume that much battery like many people think. It's quite the opposite:

Ghost call on cm10?

Hi to all,
I am just wondering am I the only one that have GC on CM10?i am using v21e with bernies files

Probably you're the only one , i don't have ghost calls.
Using V21E baseband.
You need to be in V21E to eliminate ghost calls so , be sure you're on it.
Download the app GETRIL from playstore , it'll show you which baseband you're on.
But flashing v21e baseband from the start takes about the same time so , you might wanna just flash it again.
Ignore the build.prop line.
Flashing a new baseband won't modify the build.prop so it will stay as it is.
So if you flashed V21E while installing CM10 or any ROM and then V21D or something accidentally , it'll say you're on V21E , which is not accurate in this case.

That is strange,i have only been on v21e because all other roms suffers from gc issue.recently i upgraded to cm10 directly over 21e and now i know two persons that have call me and my phone did not ring!

I confirm it's true, as I have warned about this quite some time ago.
Tested by a friend with 3 different basebands, 21A, 21D and 21E. He is currently testing 21F.
All present ghost calls and at least one of them had also ghost sms'.

And 21f is good so far?i suppose i must return to stock 21e to avoid gc issues?

He has only been using 21F for some days, so still too early to say.

Sidekick 4g service going off and on again?!?

Hey hopefully there is a fix for this, my t mobile service goes off for like 5 secs every 15 mins or so but goes right back on, its not really a problem but you know i hate when it happens when i am downloading a big file from 4g it stops its getting annoying i dont know if its the mobile network settings or what if you guys can help me, its installed a new custom rom and its still doing it so its not the rom, if you guys can help me that would be great! thanks!

It may help with your issues, there are only a couple options for this phone, can be flashed in recovery like you did your rom.
Someone has a post, I believe a sticked one that has all the modems for you to choose from

Get the latest sim card, free from t mo, I think the latest is t9177 but if you call or go to store they'll tell you. Or try a different ROM, or go pull a logcat to see what's going on when service drops

Im going to try to get a new sim card maybe the problem is i am using a micro sim on my sidekick 4g with no adapter forgot to mention that lol i already tried other roms still the same , but thanks for helping me out man !

I have been having issues since they "threw the switch" on the first LTE cities. My solution has been to switch to gsm off.
