Uninstall Kies. Reboot and install Samsung drivers to use Odin. You have to install the drivers for Heimdall from within Heimdall.

Hello, i recently messed up my SK4G by trying to root it and basically the last thing I did before my SK4G became stuck on the loading screen was click recovery in the QuickBoot app. So now everytime I turn it on, it becomes stuck on the loading screen.
From this, I simply googled up how to solve this, and got Odin and Heimdall.
So with Odin, I was able to put my phone in Download mode but Odin was never actually able to connect with my phone... I don't know why however and simply moved on to Heimdall.
With Heimdall, it connects and everything works fine.
UNTIL THE MODEM THING + ITS REBOOT. Once it reboots, the SK4G turns off and goes right back to its annoying stuck loading screen.
Please help I'm more stuck than Sharpie on your clothes

Hi!
I have some problems while using Heimdall... Well, not me, a friend. The thing is I am doing this long distance and I'm sending instructions to her, or using teamviewer but still I am doing something I've already done in my tablet. No matter what I do, I have the same error over and over again!
I am using the CM tutorial (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_p3110).
So:
1. I have Heimdall, the recovery img file, and all the other files I need.
2. All the Samsung drivers and phone/tablet software was uninstalled.
3. Used zadig. The driver I installed was "Samsung USB Driver". The tablet was in download mode, and USB debugging was on.
4. When I executed the Heimdall command, I have this error:
"Initialising protocol...
ERROR: Unexpected handshake response! (x3)
Protocol initialisation failed!"
I have been looking everywhere but I can't find a solution for this. I have already done this like 10 times in my own tablet (same model) without problems.
Am I missing something? Maybe there's something wrong with the drivers?
Thanks!
When I had that problem, restarting Heimdall and my tablet fixed it.

Why heimdall?
Why not Odin ! No PC?
Pp.
Hi all,
First off, let me start by saying I have been messing with android phones for years, flashing roms etc, so I do know the basics.
This is my son's tablet and I've never messed with it, it has stock everything. He said he got some message about a system update, tried to run it, but now it won't boot at all, just hangs on the first Samsung splash screen.
It will boot into recovery, so I did a wipe, but it still won't boot. Interestingly, now when I try to wipe the cache I get an error, maybe because it's wiped already?
Anyway, long story short, windows won't recognise it even though I've updated drivers etc ("usb device has malfunctioned"), so I'm wondering if I can flash a stock rom via the stock recovery - there is an option to flash an update from the sd card? Everywhere I've searched talks about using odin, but can I do it without this? Or any other bight ideas? I'm not against installing a custom rom if I have to but windows not recognising it is a problem.
Cheers
Sometimes odin will recognize the Tab even though the pc won't, try downloading the correct odin for your tab and give it a try. You still have the option of flashing stock firmware with Odin.
Pp.
I've had no joy getting anything to recognise the tablet. Windows, Ubuntu, Odin, Zadig, several different leads and PCs, nothing wants to play ball.
I can still access stock recovery and the sd card. Is there any ROM I can install from stock recovery? I've tried a couple of stock roms but they have both failed. I really don't want to be defeated. :crying:

Do you have hangouts? I'll help you out.
Hi, thanks for the offer, I have hangouts on my phone but I'm at work and don't have the tablet with me
If it says malfunction in windows as you say so, Try using different usb ports.
If it doesn't work either try changing your tablet's usb Cable that should be the one making malfunction.
I've tried different ports, different cables, different PCs, it just won't be recognised. Windows gives a malfunction message, Ubuntu does precisely nothing.
So does stock recovery let you do anything? There is a 'flash from sd card' option so what exactly am I able to flash from there?
No you can't flash anything from Stock it will usually say error due to zip signature or something like that, Give it a try and try using custom recovery flashable zip and try to flash it from that option i think it's named "Apply update from sdcard" because stock recovery don't have flash option.
Name the file to update.zip and put on your sdcard, the is no danger if it fails as if fails it wont even start flashing anything
@langerer pm me your email address and I'll send you a Hangout invite. You should be able to fix it inside Ubuntu.

When it says that, download mode is usually running in the background and you can still usually flash it with Odin.

You will want thee front end for it. It is the GUI and if you dont have it you have to type out the commands in the terminal.
It is a little different than Odin because you have to decompress the tar file to get image files to flash. If you Google Heimdall android tutorial, you skulls be able to get it.

this keeps on happening... and odin fails too
Hi Folks,
I was asked to attempt a repair on this stock GT-P5110 that has stuck on its logo screen since doing an ota update.
First i tried using stock recovery:
Wipe data/factory reset ran ok but rebooted to the same stuck logo.
Wipe cache partition just gives "ERROR" and reboots to stuck logo
Then i attempred to flash via Odin in download mode
I know it works ok as i had used it to flash a samsung galaxy phone no problem.
On this tab however although it recognised the tab, it hangs whilst trying to send the img.
I switched to Ubuntu and Heimdall.
Again, tab recognized and was able to print the PIT, when i came to install CWM recovery, I get the following:
sudo heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery.img

I think that USB debugging isn't switched on, so the device cant communicate?
Is there any update.zip that i can load from stock recovery that might help?
Update from cache allows me to navigate to /cache/recovery, but there is nothing in the folder
Can anyone offer advice please?
Regards
John
Update,
Following the same commands i had success uploading CWM recovery.img to the tab.
It reboots to stuck Logo screen. When i enter recovery mode, the stock recovery appears, with no CWM.
