Urgent help needed camera error - HTC Pico (Explorer)

Hi Devs,
I had installed ateeq's rom 3.1 used it for 2-3 days after which i started getting a strange error when i open camera or camcorder
on ateeq's rom the apps i mentioned automatically close and when i tried installing cynogenmod9.1 build 11 and 14 it gives me the following error
"Cant connect to camera"
I need urgent help on this issue as i use camera a lot
any suggestions or fixes are most welcome
thanks
and i have tried removing the battery and restarting,
going to recovery wiping everything possible excluding sd card and flashing various rom's , but the problem seems to exists

Try a superwipe.zip and flash cm. If problem persists, its hardware problem.

I faced the same problem in CM9 for both the builds..Use any 3rd party camera app from play store...I am using Camera zoom FX...it gives amazing results with better editing options...

You faced a "Could not connect to Camera" in TWO builds? Care to elaborate, plz. And, if you got the "could not connect to camera" error, how did third party camera work?
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda app-developers app

I didn't faced it every time I opened the stock camera app but yes quite a few times...and sometimes also had a problem that after clicking a photo the app stucks on the image and have to press the back button and start the app again to take a second shot...

That's kinda normal.

The image review makes the image to stay on the screen. This is in CM9 builds too. You have to press the back button to start capturing new photo.

i doubt it will work, Camera.apk in GB and FROYO are completely different. Or atleast it is for now. If you replace stock Camera.apk in FROYO using TB of GB you get force close error and vice versa.
tested on froyo.doesnt work.

Well, I tried it on Froyo before reading the above posts and... it doesn't work.
BUT I have a small problem now: I backed up the original apk, and used Titanium Backup to backup the camera application again (to be safe). After trying out the new apk (and doing a reboot), I just replaced it with the original one, and rebooted again. Problem is that the system just doesn't recognize it. And Titanium Backup just hangs when restoring the app.
So, there is no icon, the app is not installed, and I can't use the camera now. Any ideas?
EDIT: If someone could post the original Froyo Camera.odex (and apk, to be safe), this would be great. I expect this to solve my problem.

:O Should just let TB restore App+data for camera o.o, Try a hardboot and see if you have that option not freezing up on you
@ Misledz: As I said, TB hangs when restoring => It doesn't restore the app. Rebooted many times, didn't fix it either.
But just learned that you can extract files from .rfs images, and did that for my firmware - camera is working again!

ASOP Camera JB mod - storage options *Updated 9-11

The original mod is over in the i9300 forums by UnKnown (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746611. I have tried this mod as is and I found that i could change storage from internal to external sd but when I tried to record video is 1080p the camera would fc. So all I did was delete the media_profiles from the system/etc folder in the zip and rezipped it and now I have a fully working camera that recorded I 1080p without crashing. By deleted the media_profiles in the mod you lose some of the frame rate changes that the op made but you still have all of the profiles that came with the asop rom that your flashed.
This was used with unknowns mod version 1.61
Has pinch to zoom as well as many other options in camera menu
If you have issues with the mod not working then follow these steps
1.wipe gallery data
2.delete gallery2.apk in system/app
3. Reboot recovery
4.go to format/mount and mount system
5. Flash zip
6. Reboot and enjoy

Yes i am taking pictures fine while recording. You must press the volume down button to snap the picture while recording. Try reflashing after wiping cache and dalvik.

It's not just you. Until the original mod is updated to the latest CM10 camera features that will continue to be broken.

Revert back to 4.1 camera from 4.2

I just installed the 4.2 apps zip from http://phandroid.com/2012/11/06/android-4-2-gapps-package-download/
and the camera keeps FCing on me. It will take 1 picture then freeze on that picture, and close and cant open it again, nor did the picture actually save. Ive tried to reinstalled other signed gapps zips and even upgraded on my CM10 nightly to the latest one but still nothing.
is there specific instructions to remove camera?
First, this is the development section, not the Q&A section. You'll probably get more help if you posted this in the right sub-forum.
Second, why didn't you make a nandroid before you flashed the apps zip?
You need to tap on the screen before you take the picture because auto focus is wacky. If you do that you can take multiple pictures without the camera app locking up.
It has been proven this is the work around for now.

You need to use a root explorer and go into your system folder and delete it that way then you will have only your original camera

[Q] [Q} Front facing camera stopped working?

It all started last night. I went to take a picture and the stock Camera 2.0.002 said it 'wasn't installed'. I went to the Play Store and saw the new Google Camera. I installed it, hated it and went to restore the old one from Titanium. However it won't restore at all. I chose 'app only' but it just sits and spins and never restores. Now I'm stuck with the new one and ANY camera app refuses to take pictures with the front facing camera and restarts the phone.

I would uninstall any camera app you have. Reboot into recovery and reflash gapps. You also just pull the camera apk out of the zip and push to system/app. Then reboot
