Are their any Skyrocket Dock chargers out their? I have searched high and low and can not find any...
I found a universal one online the other day that would be perfect.
Here it is:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sinjimoru-Sync-and-Charge-Dock-Stand-Samsung-Galaxy-S2-S-ll-Color-Black-/220855903037#ht_500wt_1180
I bought the spare battery system from Amazon.
Part: ET-CGPK004GSTA
Came with a NFC-capable Samsung battery and stand, I put my phone in portrait with it plugged in and can use the AirDroid application to send messages.
looking too
Since they put the usb port on the bottom, I am guessing they want to expand to have speakers, alarm clocks and everything else you can dock these phones in. I am guessing that companies that make this stuff will take a while to get these products out. I'm tired of seeing every type of docking station for iPods.
Hopefully there are making this location standard on all the new phones so it could be more universal to fit most android phones.
If anyone finds anything I hope they will post to this thread!

This looks VERY interesting. I have a flexible skin on my SR, and I don't want to take it off to charge it.....for $5 and shipping this could be a good solution for someone with a thin protective cover.
Yeah, thanks for posting that nexendz. I started a similar thread here with some other options but have yet to find something right. Right now I'm using a business card holder with some foam stick on pads as a stand with the stock charger, although that costs about the same as that Zenis dock.

I, too, am using my old Infuse dock. It's a little big, but it charges fine and might be big enough to hold a SR with a thin case.

The diztronic TPU case works with it but is tight. The USB plug doesn't line up with it while the case is on, but it does fit into the dock with this case. I use this dock as well in my vehicle and I just take the case off when I do.
Just so that I'm certain, when you say "the old Infuse dock"

I use the Seido dock from seidoonline.com
" Innodock Jr. Desktop Cradle"
It seems to be universal and I worry a little about the connection on the bottom of the phone but it charges the phone and stands it up with any of the three cases I have used so far on my phone.
I started a threat here to see if anyone has tried using the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 dock for the Skyrocket. According to T-Mobile and AT&T, the phones dimensions are identically the same.
will that work with the SR?
That's what I am trying to find out

Ordered this one from a different seller; same price, arrived very fast. Works with naked handset but not with the included plastic insert nor with a diztronic TPU case. For $5 I don't mind roughing it up so will try to dremel out the sides and see if I can get a better fit to avoid removing the case every time.
EDIT: Don't mind url butchering, gg 10posts.
Let me know how the butchering goes....got ours in a few days ago and may do the same

Removed 3mm overall from the sides to fit case. Now fits the sides but didn't account for the back so it's a bit tight but I don't mind as it keeps it well seated. It is hollow behind the plastic so you will see the void behind it but since the phone will be in the stand it shouldn't matter, at least it's not white plastic painted black which would look worse.
Thanks!

Your advice is WRONG and dangerous, check the 100's of videos on youtube of i-diots who ruined their i-phones for youtube views.
From their website
My device has been treated with Liquipel; can I take it swimming or surfing?
No, the Liquipel treatment is a preventative coating and is meant to protect the internal, vital components of electronics from liquid corrosion in the event of accidental liquid exposure. Just as you would not intentionally throw your device on the ground after purchasing a case, you would not want to intentionally submerge your device in liquid after having Liquipel applied.
OP's link to waterproof skins look like a much better product, but its also not true WATERPROOF, more like Spashproof.
A cheap ZIP plastic bag will work best (the thicker the better)
That is true. I am getting my device liquipel'd, but you're right I'm not going to take it swimming with me. Totally different purpose
Do not DELIBERATELY wet your phone if using products like liquipel

There's no way we'll ever see a truly waterproof case that will let you use the phone while swimming. The phone itself would have to be designed to be waterproof from ground up.
The 2 main issues the case needs to overcome is the capacitive screen and the speaker/mic. A layer of water tends to block the touchscreen. This can be seen with wet applied screen protectors. The screen doesn't work properly until the water has been completely tried.
The more important issue is with the speaker/mic combo. In most cases watertight means air tight too. We all know what an airtight enclosure does for sound. How do you plan to make a phone call with decent volume through an airtight enclosure? Although it's possible to transmit sound through objects like with the cup/string method but like I said the phone would have to designed for use in water from the ground up.
We won't be seeing truly waterproof Nexus 4's anytime soon if at all.

what?
If your talking about airtight doesn't mean vacuumed environment... Air still exists inside the phone, waves can easily transfer from air -> plastic -> air...

um...I bought a waterproof case for my Xperia S. The touch screen works perfectly without the need to be dried.
About sound waves, it travels in water and air. Air tight doesn't mean soundless. A vacuum means soundless. Two completely different concept.
And why you want phone call under the water? Most of us who wants water proof case is to take to water sports and maybe take a few videos without damaging the device.
So yes, those cases exist, in the past, now, and in the future.
be careful when you say "never", because there is a possibility

umm, ya ..no I guess you don't get out a lot but I work at Best Buy and there is a case for the iphone 4, 4S, and 5 called lifeproof and it is waterproof up to 6 Ft my friend has it and he takes pictures underwater in my pool and they look awesome. Also about sound quality, sound quality is actually improved, I didn't believe it at first but the lifeproof case redirects sound from the bottom of the iphone and turns the whole back of the case into an amplifier, it's rather impressive technology. For plugging up the charger its no problem you just open the port, it says it keeps it's waterproof seal for thousands of open/shuts, and advises that you should open/shut it around 2 times a day and the seal should be fine. Mic works fine. The only downside to this case is the 80$ price and that you can't dock it without an extension everything else works great. And yes he does go swimming with it just not over 6ft deep.
The technology being completely possible, the nexus 4 is going to be one of the most popular phones because of its cheep price, amazing specs, being part of the pure android experience nexus line, which means tons of support from developers. It's going to be one of the most popular devices ever built and so i wouldn't doubt that they make a waterproof case for it.
Not meaning to bash you, next time just make sure to do a 10sec google search of "waterproof phone case" and see how hard they are to make before you rule out the chance of nexus 4 ever getting one/ getting one soon

That iottie case is only a temporary case and is not meant to stay on the phone for long. I've seen it at the store and it's not very durable and wont hold up for long. Why would you want a waterproof case on your phone all the time? Even the waterproof case for the iPhone is very bulky and you wouldnt want to keep that on the phone 24/7. There is no waterproof case like that for the nexus 4 and most likely never will.
Most of the time you can salvage a phone if it just took a quick dip, the phone will power down automatically so just let it sit for a few days to dry. I've heard that dunking the wet phone in 99% iso alcohol to displace the water since the alcohol will dry much faster also works well but never tried it.
I bought today sealabox 3xl for my nexus 4. Somebody have just try it?
For me the best waterproof cover is ipega. I writed to the manufacture some months ago to ask for an nexus 4 version. Plese do the same. Sorry for my English.

The Galaxy Active and the Xperia Z are both going to be waterproof, so I think that I will take my chances with those rather than paying 50 bucks for someone to spray paint my phone.
the problem with this waterproof case will be condensation when the cpu heats up after using the phone with gps for example! and if condensation is created in an air tight environment, the electronics of the phone will eventually see water!
That case is probably only good for just a few hours of stand by at a time and if you start recording underwater videos and your cpu starts heating up your gonna get some condensation in the phone!

Unless you phone is exuding water vapor it wont condense on to the inside of the case. Conversely your phone exuding heat would warm up the case driving away condensation.
Putting your phone into a case while in a humid environment then moving to a cold one would fog up the inside. Nothing else can really.
R3dRumz i dont mean to be dismissive but so long as your sealing the case in a humid environment the case will have the moisture within. If the phone is closed up in a dry environment its pretty much okay.
I Bought my mom a Galaxy S3 and the otterbox case and I like how it covers the USB port to prevent dirt from getting into it.
My question is, is there something like that for the Nexus 4, I have the nexus 3 and it's gotten the always charging indicator and the power level is kind of out there (showed 43% for a couple hours popped the batter out and back in and it was at 11% instantly) so I am getting ready for a nexus 4 but want a case that will cover it since the only time I need it exposed is when it's charging. (also help full if it supports a larger battery not a deal breaker though).
I've tried searching but all of them I can find has the USB port exposed or what looks like it is exposed

I'm not sure you'll ever be able to get a larger battery, so there are no cases to support them.
I, too, have never seen one that covers the USB port. I'd think that might be a more common request thanks to wireless charging.

oh cool, I didn't think they sold just the cover by itself I thought I had to find a whole case for them.
While my Nexus 4 is still on the order queue, I'm looking for a case. Not sure yet.
I'm currently looking at the Rearth Ringke Fusion, Mecury TPU, and the Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit TPU.
A bumper with port covers too!
I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a a protective bumper with micro usb and earphone port covers. I use wireless charging and bluetooth earphones and seldom use those ports.
The separate plugs look kinda cool except for the fact that I would have two little extra pieces of plastic/rubber to keep track of, ugh.
Search eBay for " Black Rugged Hybrid Hard Case Belt Clip Holster Kickstand Google LG Nexus 4 E960 ".. Covers earphone jack and USB port.. Be warned though, this case has a toxic odor that doesn't go away for like a week or 2.

They get fairly warm yes but the case will absorb some of the heat like a heatsink. The phone doesnt have a fan or anything so its not like your cutting off a fans circulation. I use to use a trident case with a built in screen protector its not the same thing, but its similar. Never worried about the heat.

So i finally encased my S4 in the watertight case today. This is the one I got:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/16111403990...:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_17039wt_1090
It is indeed a watertight case supposedly water resistent to 6 ft for 30 min. I can believe that as this was submerged for 3 hr under 1 ft of water with no leak by me. However as I figure the temperature reading has gone up during usage.
Using weather station, the temperature reading using the phone was around 85 F . In the case, the temperature reading was 92 F after about 4 min of video playing. I wonder what it would be after about 1 hr of GPS use outside? about 97 F.
I got to wonder how this will affect battery lifespan. I mean there's nothing else beside the batt that will be affected also is there? I;ve heard that AMOLED may be also susceptible possibly?
I guess if the case were made of metal instead of hard rubber, that might conduct heat away better? Anyone knows of a good watertight metal back case or even just a splash resistant one?

Idk if its possible, but I noticed the warm to hot feeling on my phone. I'm still new to the phone and its been almost a week. I noticed it doesn't get jotbanymore after switching the stock battery to the 2800 ravpower battery. I'm thinking about getting the zerolemom 3000, cause I like the size just trying to extend the battery as much as I can. Here're some pics. Yes it does look like a lifeproof knockoff. Not bad though for $14. It also come with a screw type headphone extension that goes into the headphone port after you unscrew the port cover as i shown. Opening the bottom flap allows for plugin of microusb cable, though the opening is not very big. The default samsung usb port is a complete perfect fit into the port opening with no room to spare. forget about mhl output. I could get a micro usb male female extension cable with a small head so i can use my OTG cable but this usb extension cable wont work for mhl....
Obex case looks good. should look good for a case costing $80. does the bottom port opening fairly big that you can plug in mhl out? i see it's like also plastic so i m not sure if it dissipates heat anymore than what i have....
Thank you! That is wild it looks so much like my hubby's official black lifeproof case for the 4s.
How's the screen and button sensitivity for you? Might have to try one. We had an unexpected bill come up and had to table the official $80 lifeproof this month.

The screen plastic transparent cover sits a few mm above and not directly touching the phone screen so the multitouch is a little less smooth as you have to apply a little more pressure. Also need a little more pressure on side buttons (which could have positive effect of less accidental turning on)... also the case does not seem to have much silicon or shock absorbing rubber around so it prob transmit more force to yr s4. But it is watertight... which as I said does raise the temperature of the device a little...

I think the official lifeproof case for iPhones is plastic as well if I judge the dents and marks in my iphone5 case correctly. It's definitely not like the Otterbox Defender where you have silicone absorbing the case, but whatever design lifeproof came up with takes drops like a champ so I would expect the knockoff to be similar if it's watertight like you said.

So you ordered the same cheap knockoff from ebay for $14? I still think $14 maybe a little too much for a knockoff esp because it doesn't seem to have too much softer rubber or silicone around. But at least it's water resistant. I had a quick look at my friends real iphone lifeproof and i can tell the difference but hopefully you can give us a more detail comparison once you got it. Hope you didn't buy this from some asian sellers as it could be a while before it arrives in U.S. I couldve maybe got it a few bucks cheaper from asian sellers but i fig it's worth it to pay extra 3 or 4$ to get it in a few days vs at least a few wks going with a US seller.

The knockoff seller would prob given you a free case for your testimony. . I am def not afraid to have my phone near the pool now. All my smartphones before this (Mogul, TP, TP2) are sliders so there's really not waterproof cases.

I ordered a pink one from a seller in California for $14. I'm in Oregon so should have it by Friday. I'm pretty curious as to how it compares to my iPhone 5 lifeproof side by side.. I'll have to pull my old phone down to do a comparison

I just posted a msg in the lifeproof thread requesting user experience with the size of bottom port opening. Its kinda irritating now that my usb otg cable connector won't fit through the opening on the knockoff. Same goes for many other microusb cable i have. forget the MHL adaptor....
There are only two cables i have with smaill enough connectors: 1. the default sammy usb cable came with the phone. It's a complete snug fit around the connector... 2. an old motorola micro to mini Usb adaptor which has an even slighly smaller microusb connector compared to the default sammy cable...
Arrhhh... kinda sucks. I might have to save up for the genuine lifeproof case if the port open on it can accommodate a lot more cables..... If i do get it prob get the fre ver. I don't trust the nuud ver with exposed screen as much..
Got it today and its not as bad as I was expecting. Missing the rubbery front part the real fre has, the power button is harder to press (though volume up and down are fine) and screen is like my ipad Otterbox defender. Hoping the screen grows more flush but it will still be a good case till I can get the official one.

Could do worse w $14. Only other major problem I hv is that the bottom port opening is a little small. Snug fit for the default Samsung cable but too small for many larger microusb connectors or OTG usb cable or MHL connector... I think real lifeproof opening is only just little bigger
How's big is the opening for the bottom port? Are you able to use speaker phone with this case?
Hey I've read another thread on this but it's a few months ago but I'm curious if anything has changed.
Any news on whether they'll be releasing the Nuud for the S5? And if they've fixed the sound issues with the Fre? I may just settle for that one.
Also your opinion on another waterproof case?
Thanks for any input.
Life proof said they weren't making a Nuud for the S5 I believe. The Otter box Preserver is a better choice over the Fre.

Oh really. Well thanks for the input. After a bit more thought I'm leaning towards the Urban Armour Gear. Not waterproof but this S5 is supposed to be waterproof..

I am here researching the S5 as a new phone, but i can comment on UAG cases since the design is still the same as mine:
I have had a UAR case for about 1.5 years on my S3, that got submerged for about 10 seconds yesterday, but had no effect and did not ever trip water indicators.
UAG case fit is extremely tight, and the buttons were a little stiff to start out. Over a year later it is still fits tight but buttons are perfect. IT developed a hairline crack in the bottom 1/2 that makes it easier to get in in out than it used to be. The protection is awesome as i routinely come home and toss the shone face down across the table. 0 scratches or dents. The case has also survived multiple falls form 4-6 feet onto concrete with no sign of damage to case or phone.
The one issue i have is that the case really traps in the heat, and playing graphically intense games makes it quite hot, as well as increasing the cool down times that come from sitting in a waterproof box in the sun on a boat all day long.
Work phones are Iphones in otterbox defender cases. If someone needs to use the phone they take it out of the case since it is a PIA to use/hear/talk with the otterbox case. Also these cases are looking rough after rolling around in vehicles, being dropped, and sitting in the sun for long days.
between the two I would got for the UAG, however the case looks really bland after a while and I am wanting something a little more interesting for when i get a S5.
I have a UAG case as well as the Preserver. The problem I have with the UAG and most cases is that it's tough for me to remove the charging port cover from the phone. I don't have fingernails. So I installed one of those wireless charging pads under my battery door. But that removed the water resistance of the phone. So having the wireless charging in the Otterbox Preserver is perfect for me. Wireless charging and it's still waterproof. The UAG is nice, but if you hate removing that charging door, you'll hate it even more with the case.

I disagree. I have owned the Preserver and returned it for the LifeProof Fre. The Preserver did not hold tightly together and a drop of < 2 feet would cause the front to become separated from the back which would allow any water to enter into the case. The phone itself is only waterproof for 30 minutes at 3 feet. I love the LifeProof Fre and haven't had any issues in the month of owning it. Been thrown, dropped, submerged, compressed in pocket and not a single thing wrong with the case or phone. I HIGHLY recommend the LifeProof Fre. Also, I think I have a solution to the charger port cover being hard to get to.

Hey, yeah I went straight to assuming the UAG on the S5 would be as great as the one they made for the HTC One. Many reviewers all have the same issues.

Charging port is enough reason for me to pass. It's already difficult with short finger nails so it'll be down right impossible with that case.

What is the solution? And what about the mic issue during phone calls?

There is no mic issue during phone calls. And i have to do it yet i'll post pictures. But the mic issue was old when they were FIRST releasing their cases. They even took it off their site until they fixed it which they did now.

Yeah i wanted to get one cause i couldn't stand the Preserver case but they didn't have them on their website. Best Buy was even out of stock. you could still order it but it said they were on back order. I'm quite happy with it tbh. Some say i sound muffled when in a phone call but i was messing with my ROM so i think it was that. Also, its only my father who says it, so i think its his phone/ears Just ordered pizza today and he had no issues of hearing me. Also recorded my phone calls and i sound like my normal retarded self

90? Should be around 70 or 80. I actually think there may be an issue with the mic. Second person stated I sounded muffled.Gonna call them and see if they'll replace it. Haven't read any bad reviews.
