[MOD] Capacitive buttons backlight color - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

This is a Hardware MOD this is not with any kind of software or kernel mod but is real simple no need soldering or anything related, you do need to open the device or separate the housing from the rest of the phone i guess there are many ways of doing it like a pro but i did it with a sharpie and couple of other simple tools like a screwdriver Guitar Paddle for Pry Tool
I used this guide to take it apart the lcd and board from the housing its showed in the first 3 or 4 minutes in the video
ok then once you take it apart there is a small screw in the bottom right looking from top and upside down the lcd (lcd facing down) take that screw out and then there is a flex cable with leds carefully peel it off from that end at the other end it has the vibrator board and connector and in the middle it has a flex cable that goes to the board but you don't need to take the board apart from the lcd but be very careful you dont brake the flex or you will need to replace it if you want your leds to work and the vibrator once you peel of the flex cable take you sharpie and you can paint the led or the small piece of plastic that goes to the buttons they are called "guides" you will see them in the holes where the leds goes i hope this guide help you cus i don't have in mind opening my phone again unless is necessary or there are many request for a video or picture detailed guide

This is pretty cool and a simple way to customize your phone. Cudos to a simple mod that changes your phone just enough to be different from everybody else's.

Could you replace the battery by doing this? Like take the battery from one One X and put it in another?
You can, its takes some more disassembly that I wouldn't reccomend. You have to remove 7 screws and detach 5 ribbon cables that are extremely fragile. Once you do that you remove the upper board and flip it over. There you will find where the battery cable is seated with protective tape securing it. Remove/save tape detach old cable, press new one in and begin assembly. The cables have to be put back in exact opposite order you took them apart or you never get them all back in.

Cimo S-Line Back Flexible TPU Case for HTC One X (AT&T) - Clear

Bought thIs last week for my AT&T one x
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007WGFNHU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
It's actually clear and not grey like the pic. I haven't tried the diztronic, but this one is better than any silicone or soft shell hard case I've ever used. Sides have grips and doesn't stick to my jeans or slacks pockets. It's sturdy and holes line up. Doesn't interfere with my bestskinsever screen protector either.i can set it on a surface upside down and only the case touches. Very thin compared to silicon or hard shell.
Best thing is it doesn't hide the beautiful white one x!!!!
I had the same one and it turned yellow pretty quick, I did really like the case though.

Oops lol. How quick?
I have that case in white. I like the protection it offers but the edges can irritate the palm after holding it for long enough.
its so hard to press the power key with this.. urghh... really liked it though. but pressing the power key is a mission itself
I have the blue one and love it. No color distortion after about a month. The power button is slightly hard to press, the volume rocker is a killer though. Near impossible
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I have the black one and have had it since I got the phone on launch day. No issues with it, it's made for the international so not everything is 100% perfect but it's close and never had issues with any cables, etc. No problems pressing power/volume on mine either.
This case changes color quick for some reason..

Mine lasted about a month then the clear started to yellow really bad. I did really like the case other than that however.

AT&T OneX twrp2.2 CleanROM4.1SE
I just got the clear case today and I really like it. But is it just me or does it cover the second noise-cancelling mic on the back? Am I mistaken that it's under the power button on the back of the AT&T version?

That is the pin hole to take out the sum tray. The second mic is by the headphone jack

Just got the black one today, and it's pretty good, especially for $2. Must say though, the grip irritates my hand offer a while.

I heard my phone creak every time I put it on or took it off... Scared I might cause a stress fracture, I moved onto to cases made specifically for the AT&T version.
Just a heads up for you guys interested in buying this case.

Had mine since a week from phone release and doing just fine. No color distortion here. Power button a little tough to push but volume rocker is no problems at all. Overall a decent case to keep showing of the white of the phone.

I have the clear one and the thing is yellow now. It also seems like the case was made for the international version because the camera cut out and micro USB plug are just slightly off and not centered, either that or its just the quality of the case.

For those of you that have dropped your HOX...

Have you ever had the backing of the phone come loose? I dropped mine and the bottom where the capacitive buttons came apart. I didn't notice it until I went into a room that was dark... has this happened to anyone else? It went back into place so I guess its OK...

I noticed a couple of times I'll look down at my phone and see the capacitive light shining through on the bottom gap between the screen and plastic. Usually just clicks back in.

They have some really nice thin shell cases out there that don't add much weight or take away from the beauty. I've used the clear one and white/purple one both from HTC.
I actually noticed this happen when I was taking off my case (Otterbox Commuter). Some cases are just so tight that you need to be careful taking them off.
Moral of the story, this has happened to me too

Opening the LG inductive charging pad

4 screws under feet
4 screws holding logic board in place
Nothing is attached to the top cover that you remove, so no fear of breaking anything during disassembly. Easy peasy!
Thanks for the photos, however this may have been better suited in the thread dedicated to removing the buzzer from the pad.

Could we have the next few steps (with pictures) for removing the speaker?
Thanks for the great pics. Could you give me a rough idea of the dimensions of the actual charger and pcb itself if it was completely removed from the housing? I am thinking of doing a mod based on this.

This would indeed be for a one x. It is a good phone. I still have one.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
That looks legit. I got both my screens from repair universe and they worked well. Tips:
Use a guitar pick for prying, those tools suck that they send.
Be careful on the bottom while prying apart small piece of board can snap.
Transferring the light diodes from the captivate buttons is a pain have some small needle nose handy.
Have a soldering iron, super glue handy and heat gun or even a hair dryer to keep plastic warm. Cold= snap
If you need any further assistance? Happy to assist.
