For those of you that have dropped your HOX... - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Have you ever had the backing of the phone come loose? I dropped mine and the bottom where the capacitive buttons came apart. I didn't notice it until I went into a room that was dark... has this happened to anyone else? It went back into place so I guess its OK...

I noticed a couple of times I'll look down at my phone and see the capacitive light shining through on the bottom gap between the screen and plastic. Usually just clicks back in.

They have some really nice thin shell cases out there that don't add much weight or take away from the beauty. I've used the clear one and white/purple one both from HTC.

I actually noticed this happen when I was taking off my case (Otterbox Commuter). Some cases are just so tight that you need to be careful taking them off.
Moral of the story, this has happened to me too

[Q] Plastic ring around the camera

The plastic ring around the camera is making a creaking noise. My first one had the same issue along with creaky ear piece grill. So I exchanged it and amazon sent me a second one. After a while the second phone seems to have the same issue.
Just wondering how everybody else's phones are holding up. It's really annoying sometimes and I really don't want to exchange this for a third piece and then slowly have the same issue on that one too.

First of all I think the ring is aluminum. Also the way the device has been manufactured, it will have some creaks. Still a very sturdy phone. If you'd like, you can take it apart and reglue it back together with gorilla glue and it may solve the creaks
Please don't use gorilla glue on your phone... It foams up brown.

I'm still trying to figure out how the creeking was discovered. I've never even touched that ring.
Edit: until now

TBH, my phone hasn't come out of the case and screen protector since inside the AT&T store when I bought it on launch day. So even if there was creaking, I wouldn't notice it through my case.

I just pushed on my ring and can get it to make a slight clicking sound. How did you come to notice this? Mine is barely audible.
I refuse to check and see if my ring is creaky. Not gonna do it.
Son of Clicky!
This phone literally snaps into the plastic unibody. I'm not going to worry about the noises. (I hope)
Mine has the same issue with the creaking noise along the very top of the ring. I've considered the opposite of glue: a drop of gun lube along the edge so i don't hear it anymore. I just haven't been bothered enough to try it.

Cimo S-Line Back Flexible TPU Case for HTC One X (AT&T) - Clear

Bought thIs last week for my AT&T one x
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007WGFNHU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
It's actually clear and not grey like the pic. I haven't tried the diztronic, but this one is better than any silicone or soft shell hard case I've ever used. Sides have grips and doesn't stick to my jeans or slacks pockets. It's sturdy and holes line up. Doesn't interfere with my bestskinsever screen protector either.i can set it on a surface upside down and only the case touches. Very thin compared to silicon or hard shell.
Best thing is it doesn't hide the beautiful white one x!!!!
I had the same one and it turned yellow pretty quick, I did really like the case though.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Oops lol. How quick?
I have that case in white. I like the protection it offers but the edges can irritate the palm after holding it for long enough.
its so hard to press the power key with this.. urghh... really liked it though. but pressing the power key is a mission itself
I have the blue one and love it. No color distortion after about a month. The power button is slightly hard to press, the volume rocker is a killer though. Near impossible
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I have the black one and have had it since I got the phone on launch day. No issues with it, it's made for the international so not everything is 100% perfect but it's close and never had issues with any cables, etc. No problems pressing power/volume on mine either.
This case changes color quick for some reason..

I just got the clear case today and I really like it. But is it just me or does it cover the second noise-cancelling mic on the back? Am I mistaken that it's under the power button on the back of the AT&T version?

Had mine since a week from phone release and doing just fine. No color distortion here. Power button a little tough to push but volume rocker is no problems at all. Overall a decent case to keep showing of the white of the phone.

I have the clear one and the thing is yellow now. It also seems like the case was made for the international version because the camera cut out and micro USB plug are just slightly off and not centered, either that or its just the quality of the case.

I wanted to see how many people use screen protectors . If they don't will it scratch easily or has anyone have any scratches because I hate my screen protector and I would to use it with out it but I dont wanna have scratches
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I don't use one, I did on my previous phones. I always hated the way the screen protectors felt compared to the bare glass.
The only scratches I have are from dropping my phone on the street, they are more like little nicks in the screen than
scratches. Now that I already have some, I don't think I'll put a screen protector on. I do have a screen protector that came
with my Otterbox if I feel like putting one on.
I figure that by the time I need a new phone, I'll already have a job and enough money to buy a new phone, so I don't feel like
babying this phone too much.
I've been rockin mine completely naked since release back in may.. hardly any scratches, only noticeable in a well lit area with the screen off at a certain angle. My phone went face first on the cement and slid about 7 inches, and I also dropped mine and I slid across my wood floors and still nothing.
However my buddy has deep scratches that can catch a fingernail. Someone else I know dropped his and the screen cracked from about a foot off the ground..

If you're a girl (which you may be, judging by your picture) you keep your phone in your purse. Purses are dirty and have sand/dirt in them. Sand will scratch your phone.

Only problem with me is I hate to cover up this beautiful screen! It was the main selling point of the phone for me. The way I see it is the screen protector will get scratched too, slaying the gorgeous LCD. It'll preserve the glass, but I'll get a new phone with my upgrade and this one will be passed down to maybe my godchild or someone. Screen protectors are perfect for long term users/others looking for the highest resale value

You should be good as long as you don't put it in your pocket with your keys or anything that can scratch it. Also, remember to lightly get most of the dust off before you wipe off finger prints. That way you won't get any small hairline scratches. If you're careful you should be good without one.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
I've always preferred naked.
Having said that I've damaged a few too.
If u want to resell, use a cover for the back and a protector for the screen.
The polycarbonate backing within a few days started to show marking.
The screen has a very feint hairline scratch down the middle, but it hasn't been dropped & I'm very careful with handling it.
I'm yet to find covers or protectors that keep the phone looking good as nude, but if u want it looking good as new u wanna cover it up.

I looked up closest ghost armor retailer and had them install the clear ghost armor on the screen and the black carbon weave armor on the back.
I originally had them put a white one on the back as my X is white, but went back and they changed it to a black one for me at my request. Looks good in white an black.
Cost of two pieces installed was 20 bucks, 5 bucks if I ever need a half replaced for life of phone.

I have never used a screen protector. When I bought my One X I was talked into the Zagg protector from an AT&T employee, It wasn't bad but after it started getting hot here in AZ, I pulled it out of my pocket and the screen protector was slidin around. So I took it off. Havn't bothered to replce it and actualy like it better without.
I have always preferred naked phones.
I have never found a screen protector that doesn't make the phone less responsive or make the screen less crisp.
Looking at your phone wrong can cause the One X screen to scratch. (See the thread in the general section, or just Google One X screen scratch)
Others have recommended the Zagg HD screen protector, but I haven't tried one myself.

I don't have a case but always had a clear screen protection on my devices amd never felt a difference. I'd rather pit one on then having to look at a deep scratch every time I look at the screen, that's thousand times more annoying to me.

White One X Wearing Off?

Hey,
For all of you that own a white HOX, have you experienced the matte white finish on the back of the device gradually wearing away near the bottom corners (or wherever you most often hold it from) and losing its characteristic grippy matte-ness, becoming slightly shiny and smooth?
I'm concerned about the long term consequences of using the HOX without a case (although i use a case) as the bottom right area of my phone has lost some of its matte texture, become smooth white.
I don't have a problem with the white finish on mine. The only problem I have is the SN, IMEI, and SKU sticker coming off from sliding it in and out of my pocket.

I don't have that problem. I mean, I have the glamour grey one, but I digress...
Does anyone have a problem with the screen flaking? I guess it's the anti glare coating on the beveled edge for me is flaking off. I can't understand it because it's been in a case the entire time i've had it. Of course I can't call up warranty since i've rooted and unlocked my bootloader. This sort of software modding thing though shouldn't void a defect warranty.

I've had mine since around the beginning of April. As of right now, the wearing away has been pretty minor, and is distinctly noticeable in direct light, and appears around the bottom edge, near the corners, as that is where I most commonly hold my phone from.
I actually have a case on right now, but noticing this slight wear-away concerned me (which further convinced me to keep a case on), but wasn't sure whether or not it would keep wearing away.
I would describe it as... a smoothing out of the matte finish, kind of the way it looks if it gets a little oily. The affected areas are more reflective and 'shiny' , but not truly smooth like the finish on the GS3
Again, it's not major, but just something I was wondering about.
This is common in plastic items if you look at a well used mouse or keyboard over time the most struck areas will smooth out lucky the hox is mad of inject molded plastic so the white one is solid white so it wont "rub" off it will just show polish like brass over time.
My grey one did that after about 2 months. Two spots about the size of a dime on the back, where it would touch when set down. They polished to a shiny slippery finish. Haven't used a case at all.
Sent from my Note II
Yeah, mines getting shiny on the corners, and my screen has some barely perceptible scratches on it. I'm not too worried at the moment though, I'm going to warranty swap due to a bright spot on my screen.

You shouldn't need to keep that on your phone anyway. You should have received at least one or two extra stickers in the packaging that came with the phone, which are there to be used for warranty purposes etc...

Is your HOXL creaky?

It seems to me that the longer I have this phone the creakier it gets when I press or squeeze it in any way, and I was wondering what other peoples experiences were. I've only had this phone since October, and I'm curious to know if people who have had theirs since launch day are experiencing it even more so than I am

Yes mine is creaky. If I squeeze it or move it creaks. Even typing with the veedback on causes the creaking sound. I bought this phone when it first came out so I was just guessing it was getting old. However my wife's does not and she got hers the same day.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I assume the creaks come from the screen and guts slipping in and out of the shell body?
Perhaps removing the body and using a very very small amount of glue to hold it in place would help?
You dont have the phone inside a case that is itself creaking against the body of the phone?

My first one started creaking after about 5 months. Then, over the course of two days, the backlight failed. At first, pressure would turn it off and/or on. I was luckily able to do an RUU without the backlight, then return it under warranty.
The refurb I have now was a little creaky from day 1, but has actually gotten better than at first. Also has a terrible loudspeaker... but the replacement speaker I got on eBay was even worse.
I wish I could get an Android phone with Apple build quality and warranty/support.

No creaks on mine, I think it's because I clean it aggressively at times and apply enough pressure to keep it seated together.

I put a speck candy shell case on a month after I got the phone and have only taken it off a couple times for cleaning. I have no creaking
