Is your HOXL creaky? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

It seems to me that the longer I have this phone the creakier it gets when I press or squeeze it in any way, and I was wondering what other peoples experiences were. I've only had this phone since October, and I'm curious to know if people who have had theirs since launch day are experiencing it even more so than I am
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

Had mine since about June. It does not creak at all.

Now that I think about it, weren't there 2 hardware versions for the HOXL, With one of them being slightly better than the other?

mine creaks

Yes mine is creaky. If I squeeze it or move it creaks. Even typing with the veedback on causes the creaking sound. I bought this phone when it first came out so I was just guessing it was getting old. However my wife's does not and she got hers the same day.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

I assume the creaks come from the screen and guts slipping in and out of the shell body?
Perhaps removing the body and using a very very small amount of glue to hold it in place would help?
You dont have the phone inside a case that is itself creaking against the body of the phone?

do you, or have you ever used a case, specifically an otterbox? I think that's what mine is from. Putting the case on and taking it off so many times to remove the SIM

Yeah I've changed cases several times. I have a spec case that you have to pop the hox into. It's kinda embarrassing now. I don't even use a car anymore.

Yeah the speck candy shell takes so much pressure to take on and off I feel like I'm going to snap my phone in half sometimes
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

Oh man... So creaky... Especially near the top speaker holes.

Been having mine since launch (may 6) no creaking. I rock mine naked. My wife got hers two weeks later and keeps hers in a barely there case, no creaks
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2

My first one started creaking after about 5 months. Then, over the course of two days, the backlight failed. At first, pressure would turn it off and/or on. I was luckily able to do an RUU without the backlight, then return it under warranty.
The refurb I have now was a little creaky from day 1, but has actually gotten better than at first. Also has a terrible loudspeaker... but the replacement speaker I got on eBay was even worse.
I wish I could get an Android phone with Apple build quality and warranty/support.

No creaks on mine, I think it's because I clean it aggressively at times and apply enough pressure to keep it seated together.
My Desire HD creaked, this is like a brick in comparison.

where are you guys getting creaks? the only place I can think of it possibly creaking is around the edges where the glass meets the back shell. Mine used to creak a little bit in the upper left hand corner, but not anymore now however, my volume rocker has some up and down play

I put a speck candy shell case on a month after I got the phone and have only taken it off a couple times for cleaning. I have no creaking
Sent from my VENOMized HoxL

I got mine July 1st and it was creaky when I bought it, minute gap at the bottom right where the glass meets the body. I didn't feel like returning it. It hasn't got any worse though which is good.

That's exactly where mine creaks the most: on the upper left hand corner where the glass meets the casing. my volume rocker also has some up/down play to it

Just a couple every now and then. But if I shake it, it rattles. On both phones I've had , one I got on May 6 and had until it just straight up died in November, and the one I've had since then.

Sensation. Sturdy Device?

I'm still not convince sensation being sturdy device. Can sensation users share their horrible accidents with their sensation? Did your phone make it? is it still alive like nothing happen?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I'm pretty disappointed.... The battery cover (bottom right) is loose, and getting worse. So when I type the phone kind of gives a bit, and makes a slight creaking noise.
Most likely returning for new this weekend.

I've never had the "creak" that some people have. Then again, I've never used this without it's case....which I'm sure holds it tight.
Just one of the many inherent risks with purchasing any device.
I must say the device feels really solid. In fact I find it much more solid than my MT4G. I have not dropped it if that's what your asking. I don't have any loose feeling or creaking in mine.
I literally dropped my phone three times last night at the bar and I have no visible marks. Gut wrenching but I'm glad to see that it can take a drop. Kudos to HTC.

I would say that its a sturdy device... Very nicely built...
The first one I had which I returned for dust under the screen, I dropped at a bar (this seems to be a commonality) and kicked it simultaneously across the floor. Ran to pick it up and it was still as good as new
i was traveling recently and had it on my lap. i stepped out of the truck(F150) and it fell onto the asphalt and slid sum..all i could find damage wise was a little nick in the corner. size of a pin hole. i thought for sure i had road rash and a cracked screen. this was without the cover i have on it now.
held up great!!
If I press the screen hard (not damaging hard) you hear a creek. I dropped it, being drunk, and the grey "metal" is plastic so it removed the paint. Just a tiny drop sized thing. It's a sturdy phone overall. Reminds me of the mytouch 4g and nexus one.

Yea, my second unit had the same creak issue and I just returned it to Walmart. I couldn't deal with it, especially on such a beautiful phone. I'm really anal bout my phones. I hit mine off a pool table with a pint glass and it slid across a slate tile floor(screen down) and still looks like new.
I was recording a video on mine and a friend waved her hands frantically, and catapulted my sensation out of my hands where it landed about 3 or 4 meters away on concrete. Not a blemish on the device and it actually managed to continue recording video throughout the trauma!

I went to a friends party and we were comparing phones, he has the mt4g, and we were both pretty drunk. We both somehow accidentally dropped our phones and my sensation, with no case, had no damage at all. His mt4g, with a case, has a completely shattered screen.

[Q] Plastic ring around the camera

The plastic ring around the camera is making a creaking noise. My first one had the same issue along with creaky ear piece grill. So I exchanged it and amazon sent me a second one. After a while the second phone seems to have the same issue.
Just wondering how everybody else's phones are holding up. It's really annoying sometimes and I really don't want to exchange this for a third piece and then slowly have the same issue on that one too.

First of all I think the ring is aluminum. Also the way the device has been manufactured, it will have some creaks. Still a very sturdy phone. If you'd like, you can take it apart and reglue it back together with gorilla glue and it may solve the creaks
Please don't use gorilla glue on your phone... It foams up brown.

I just pushed on my ring and can get it to make a slight clicking sound. How did you come to notice this? Mine is barely audible.
I refuse to check and see if my ring is creaky. Not gonna do it.

This phone literally snaps into the plastic unibody. I'm not going to worry about the noises. (I hope)
Mine has the same issue with the creaking noise along the very top of the ring. I've considered the opposite of glue: a drop of gun lube along the edge so i don't hear it anymore. I just haven't been bothered enough to try it.

Cimo S-Line Back Flexible TPU Case for HTC One X (AT&T) - Clear

Bought thIs last week for my AT&T one x
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007WGFNHU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
It's actually clear and not grey like the pic. I haven't tried the diztronic, but this one is better than any silicone or soft shell hard case I've ever used. Sides have grips and doesn't stick to my jeans or slacks pockets. It's sturdy and holes line up. Doesn't interfere with my bestskinsever screen protector either.i can set it on a surface upside down and only the case touches. Very thin compared to silicon or hard shell.
Best thing is it doesn't hide the beautiful white one x!!!!
I had the same one and it turned yellow pretty quick, I did really like the case though.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Oops lol. How quick?
I have that case in white. I like the protection it offers but the edges can irritate the palm after holding it for long enough.
its so hard to press the power key with this.. urghh... really liked it though. but pressing the power key is a mission itself
I have the blue one and love it. No color distortion after about a month. The power button is slightly hard to press, the volume rocker is a killer though. Near impossible
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I have the black one and have had it since I got the phone on launch day. No issues with it, it's made for the international so not everything is 100% perfect but it's close and never had issues with any cables, etc. No problems pressing power/volume on mine either.

I just got the clear case today and I really like it. But is it just me or does it cover the second noise-cancelling mic on the back? Am I mistaken that it's under the power button on the back of the AT&T version?

Had mine since a week from phone release and doing just fine. No color distortion here. Power button a little tough to push but volume rocker is no problems at all. Overall a decent case to keep showing of the white of the phone.

I have the clear one and the thing is yellow now. It also seems like the case was made for the international version because the camera cut out and micro USB plug are just slightly off and not centered, either that or its just the quality of the case.

For those of you that have dropped your HOX...

Have you ever had the backing of the phone come loose? I dropped mine and the bottom where the capacitive buttons came apart. I didn't notice it until I went into a room that was dark... has this happened to anyone else? It went back into place so I guess its OK...

I noticed a couple of times I'll look down at my phone and see the capacitive light shining through on the bottom gap between the screen and plastic. Usually just clicks back in.

They have some really nice thin shell cases out there that don't add much weight or take away from the beauty. I've used the clear one and white/purple one both from HTC.
I actually noticed this happen when I was taking off my case (Otterbox Commuter). Some cases are just so tight that you need to be careful taking them off.
Moral of the story, this has happened to me too

Screen level

Hi all
Haven't noticed any issues with my One XL until tonight and want to know if this is normal or if I should exchange as I am within 30 days.
When I push down on the left bottom, right bottom, and right top corners of the screen there is no play/movement. When I push down on the left top corner, there is a definite give. Is this normal?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I've had my One X for 3 days. No play on the screen, but I noticed today there is a crack or scratch in the LCD under the glass. I don't know how else to describe it, it looks just like a scratch, but I can see the glass is smooth and glossy at that place. At first I thought it was dead pixels, but it changes color based on angle. I was really hoping for HTCs flagship phone to last me at least a week without defects.

I will have to try to exchange it. But, I only got it after receiving two doa replacement GS IIs. Plus the phone is awful if it comes with 2.2 pre-installed. I don't know if I want to roll the dice and risk getting one with 2.2 on it.
And I spoke too soon, mine does have play on the screen in the center at the top, right on the at&t logo.
Not too impressed with HTC build quality so far.

Just took a further look at my screen. It looks like the top left part of the screen is raised ever so slightly above the tiny screen bezel around the screen. All the other parts of the screen are flush with that small bezel. Does this make sense?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I think this is going to be very common with the one x's because of its unibody shell. The indented snaps that hold the phone inside the unibody go along the top bottom and both sides. HTC should of also had the snaps in the corners which would have eliminated the issue.
Yeah it's not a big deal. I might exchange it once, but other than that I'm not about to go OCD like some people here.

Mine does this in the bottom left hand corner. It makes the screen have a faint orange circle in that corner unless I apply pressure on that corner and it will fade for a few minutes before coming back. I've been debating whether I should bring mine in for a replacement but I'm worried I'll get stuck with 2.2
